Frederick Ellett
Frederick Lee Ellett died Wednesday, January 20, 1999, at St. Francis Hospital and Health Centers in Beech Grove. A resident of Franklin, he was 83.
Mr. Ellett left survivors in Brown County.
He was born January 1, 1916, in Gosport to James F. and Pearl Smith Ellett.
He and Orel Nixon were married in July 1937. She preceded him in death. He then married Caroline Mae Oxley in 1946. She also preceded him in death.
Mr. Ellett had worked at Central L&M Lumber Company before starting his own plumbing and heating business.
He was a member of Brown County's Spearsville Church of Christ and had belonged to the Franklin Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge for half a century.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Ellett of Franklin and Larry Ellett of Greenfield; four daughters, Brenda Leighton of North Fort Myers, Florida, Susan Reasoner of Melbourne, Florida, Denise Mauch of Estero, Florida and Sherri Fowler of Brown County; his companion and friend, Marjorie Beard; three brothers, Clyde Ellett of Indianapolis, Raymond Ellett of Fort Myers, Florida and Damon Ellett of Brownsville, Texas; four sisters, Ruth Manning of Morgantown, Helen Richhart of Spearsville Road, Viola Pierce of Franklin and Dorothy Dine of Goldpoint Road; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ellett was preceded in death by two brothers, Arch Ellett and Dale Ellett.
A service will be held at a later date.
Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Spearsville Church of Christ.

Mary Ann Gaunt
Mary Ann Gaunt, the mother of Nashville resident Pam Baldwin, died Monday, January 18, 1999, at Caylor-Nickel Medical Center in Bluffton. She had been in failing health for several years and was 71.
Mrs. Gaunt had been a life-long resident of Wells County.
She was born February 23, 1927, in Wells County to Everett and Sylvia Cook Tappy.
Mrs. Gaunt was graduated from Liberty High School in 1945.
Mrs. Gaunt had worked at Franklin Electric for 27 years, retiring in the 1980s.
She had attended Prairie Church.
Other survivors include two sons, Rory C. Gaunt of Bluffton and Kim E. Gaunt of Tocsin; two other daughters, Cynthia McMillan of Marion and Diane Meriwether of Craigville; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The Reverend Darrell Miller conducted a service Wednesday, January 20, at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt and Chaney Funeral Home in Bluffton.
Burial was in Wells County's Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Elsie R. Keller
Elsie Ridenour Keller died Saturday, January 16, 1999, at Meadowood Retirement Community in Bloomington. A resident of that city, she was 90.
Mrs. Keller left survivors in Nashville.
She was born January 11, 1909, in Wabash County to David and Gertrude Votaw Ridenour.
She was married to John William Keller. He preceded her in death.
She had worked at Singer Sewing Machine Company and in the Howard County treasurer's and auditor's offices.
Mrs. Keller was a former president of the PTA Council in Kokomo.
She and her husband were charter members of Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce E. Piers of Artist Drive; two grandchildren, Robin L. Piers of Lafayette and Lisa L. Schmalz of Bloomington; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Keller was also preceded in death by a sister.
The Reverend Dan Johnson led a service Wednesday, January 20, at Ellers Mortuary's Webster Street Chapel in Kokomo.
Burial was in that city's Sunset Memory Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo.

James F. Levi
Morgantown resident James Franklin Levi died Tuesday, January 19, 1999, at Grandview Convalescent Center in Martinsville. He was 76.
Mr. Levi was born June 4, 1922, in Scottsville, Kentucky to Thomas and Daisy Thomas Levi.
He had worked as a custodian at Decatur Central and Warsaw schools before retiring.
Mr. Levi enjoyed gardening and his dogs.
Survivors include a sister, Ollie M. Wallace of Martinsville; a brother, Art L. Levi of Indianapolis; his friend and companion, Lillie M. Perry of Berea, Kentucky; ans several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William L. Levi and Robert L. Levi.
A service was conducted Friday, January 22, at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home in Morgantown.
Burial was in Johnson County's Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Mabel J. Lewis
Morgantown native Mabel J. Voiles Lewis died Thursday, January 19, 1999, at Universal Healthcare Center in Franklin. A resident of that city, she was 81.
Mrs. Lewis was born May 12, 1917, in Morgantown to Arthur and Maggie Zook Voiles.
She and Erschel Leo Lewis were married October 1, 1939, in Martinsville. He died December 3, 1997.
Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and had attended schools in Johnson County.
She had helped her husband on the family's farm and with his Mobil Oil operation.
She attended Franklin's Pilgrim Holiness Church.
Mrs. Lewis had enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel L. Lewis and Duane E. Lewis, both of Franklin; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell Voiles, Gaile Voiles, Donald Voiles and Forrest Voiles.
The Reverend Lonny Dunn and Reverend Leroy Collins conducted a service Friday, January 22, at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home in Franklin.
Burial was in that city's Greenlawn Cemetery.

Janet Long
Janet Colleen Long, the mother of Nashville resident Mark Long, died Friday, January 22, 1999, at her home in Evansville. She was 64.
Ms. Long was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
She enjoyed music, playing the piano and fishing.
Mrs. Long had sang in choirs and groups and had also performed in plays.
She is also survived by her mother, Anna Williams of Columbus; two sisters, Gertrude Perry and Diana Strietelmeier, both of Columbus; and a brother, Ronald Robbins of Columbus.
A service was conducted Monday, January 25, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Evansville.
Burial was in that city's St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association.

Elsie M. Mabry
Elsie M. Mabry, the mother of Morgantown residents James R. Mabry and Joeann J. Burkhart, died Thursday, January 14, 1999, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. A resident of Trafalgar, she was 84.
Mrs. Mabry was born August 12, 1914, to Benton Curtis and One Bell Eads.
She and Fred W. Mabry were married May 5, 1931. He died January 9, 1973.
Mrs. Mabry was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church near Trafalgar.
Other survivors include three other daughters, Sharon J. Matlock of Trafalgar, Eugenia K. Willingham of Cloverdale and Victoria Johnson of Danville; a sister, Marietta Denham; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mabry was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister.
A service was conducted Monday, January 18, at Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home's State Road 135 Chapel.

Jackie Abbott
Franklin resident Jackie Wayne Abbott Sr. died Monday, February 1, 1999, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was 58.
Mr. Abbott left survivors in the Brown County area.
He was born September 22, 1940, in Edinburgh to Alva C. Abbott and Florence Roberts Mudd. His mother survives in Greenwood.
His first wife, Barbara Ann Abbott, died October 2, 1995. He and Carolyn Baker were marred in June 1998. She survives.
Mr. Abbott was graduated from Franklin Community High School in 1959.
He had worked as a meat cutter for Mr. T's in Franklin.
Mr. Abbott was a member of the Bass Masters Association.
Other survivors include two daughters, Amanda Cox of Franklin and Rebecca Allred of Mascotte, Florida; three sons, Jackie W. Abbott Jr. of Franklin, David C. Abbott of Trafalgar and Gene Adkins of Astatula, Florida; three brothers, Lawson "Bud" Abbott of Nineveh, Eugene Abbott of Munford and Tony Abbott of Greenwood; two sisters, Evelyn Roy of Bargersville and Carolyn Bowman of Deltona, Florida; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father; and two sisters, Betty Chaney and Barbara Hildebrand.
The Reverend Jim Tharpe conducted a service Thursday, February 4, at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home in Franklin.
Burial was in Johnson County's Hamner Cemetery.

Robert Ault
Brown County native Robert C. Ault died Tuesday afternoon, February 2, 1999, at his home in Nashville. He was 79.
Mr. Ault was born January 17, 1920, in Brown County to Clarence and Zona Sturgeon Ault.
His wife, Zelma Ault, died February 2, 1995.
He had worked at Cummins Engine Company before retiring in 1978.
Mr. Ault was a member of Greasy Creek Pentecostal Church and Columbus Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Dale F. Ault of Nashville; two daughters, Bonnie Baldwin of Columbus and Leona Boyer of Florida; a brother, Leonard Ault of Columbus; four sisters, Doris Michaels of Nashville and Lola Friskey and Bell Morgan, both of Logansport and Dorothy Cooley of Freedom; nine grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ault was preceded in death by a brother.
George Henderson led a service Friday, February 5, at the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home on State Road 135 North.
Burial was in Brown County's Duncan Cemetery.

Donald Bowling
Donald Bowling died Wednesday morning, February 3, 1999, at his home in Columbus. He was 61.
Mr. Bowling left survivors in Brown County.
He was born December 6, 1937, in London, Kentucky to Taylor and Lela Mae Hammons Bowling. His mother survives in Hope.
He and Dibby Lou Sweet were married January 27, 1956. She survives in Bartholomew County.
Mr. Bowling had worked as a self-employed brick mason as well as an independent truck driver.
He was a former member of the Moose and Eagles lodges.
Other survivors include a son, Darrel R. Bowling of North Vernon; two daughters, Darla F. Marshall of White River, South Dakota and Delilah M. Murphy of Columbus; eight brothers, Walter Bowling of London, Kentucky, Paul Bowling and Benjamin Bowling, both of North Vernon, David Bowling and Hebron Bowling, both of Connersville, Caleb Bowling of Key West, Florida, and Phillip Bowling and Mike Bowling, both of Nashville; five sisters, Ann Hamilton of Danville, Illinois, Lorene Rush of London, Kentucky, Sue Wohlwend of Pierre, South Dakota, Grecia Hamilton of Madison and Darlene Lucas of Hope; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, John D. Bowling; a sister, Dorcas Bowling; and a son, Donald Bowling Jr.
The Reverend Mark Myers led a service Saturday, February 6, at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home in Columbus.
Burial was in that city's Garland Brook Cemetery.

Carol D. Erdman
Nashville resident Carol Dean Erdman died Tuesday afternoon, February 2, 1999, at the Brown County Community Care Center in Salt Creek Park. She was 96.
Mrs. Erdman was born June 18, 1902, in Longton, Kansas to Silas and Amy Richelson Crawford.
She and Phillip D. Erdman were married May 23, 1923, in Longton. He died September 2, 1984.
Mrs. Erdman and her husband had owned a telephone exchange in Kansas. She worked as the telephone operator.
Mrs. Erdman was a member of the Longton, Kansas Order of the Eastern Star and the Mount Vernon Christian Church in Mount Vernon, Missouri.
There was no service.
Burial will be at a later date in Altamont Cemetery in Altamont, Kansas.
Myers Funeral Service, Hathaway-Myers Chapel in Columbus was in charge of arrangements.

William Gore
William R. Gore died Sunday, January 31, 1999, at his home in Indianapolis. He was 57.
Mr. Gore left survivors in the area.
He was born August 4, 1941, in Beech Grove to Robert L. and Elenor Riley Gore.
He was married to Sandra Ann Lawn. She survives in Marion County.
Mr. Gore had worked as a mechanic and was a Baptist minister.
He was a member of the Nash Car Club and Life Line Baptist Church.
Other survivors include three sons, Brian Gore, Travis Gore and Paul Gore; 10 grandchildren; five brothers, Johnny Gore, Robin Gore, Jeff Gore, Stanley Gore and Robert Gore; and two sisters, Patty Warner and Barbara Burton.
Pastor Lyman Taylor led a service Wednesday, February 3, at Life Line Baptist Church in Indianapolis.
Burial was at Miller Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Flanner and Buchanan Decatur Township Mortuary in Indianapolis was in charge of arrangements.

Michael Griner
Word has been received the of the death of Michael Anthony Griner.
Mr. Griner died Friday morning, January 22, 1999, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis from injuries he received in an automobile accident near Westport in Decatur County.
A resident of that small community, he was 15.
Some of the young man's ancestors were natives of Brown County.
He was born May 19, 1983, in McKinney, Texas to Gary Lee and Jean Carlotta Clark Griner. They survive in Westport.
Mr. Griner was a student at South Decatur High School.
He was an avid video game player and sports fan.
Other survivors include a sister, Amy Michelle Griner of Westport; a brother, Gary Lee Griner Jr. of Bloomington; and his maternal grandparents, Don and Phyllis Clark of Columbus.
Mr. Griner was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alonzo and Edna Blanche Griner.
David Soper led a service Monday, January 25, at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel in Columbus.
Burial was in that city's Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice of charities.
