Ralph Barnard
Ralph Hadley Barnard, the father of Nashville resident Kara Barnard, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Bloomington Hospital. A resident of that city, he was 63.
Mr. Barnard was born July 3, 1937, in Green County, the son of Richard and Georgia Hadley Barnard.
He married Wilma L. Tucker, and she survives in Bloomington.

Tina J. Gatton
Trafalgar resident Tina J. Gatton died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was 42.
She was born November 15, 1958, in Johnson County, the daughter of James L. and Janet Walden Kean. They both preceded her in death.
She and John W. Gatton were married in Franklin January 10, 1995. He survives.
The former assistant manager of the One and Only Restaurant and Bar in Trafalgar, Mrs. Gatton was currently employed as the kitchen manager at Joe’s Junction in Trafalgar.

Ella Mae Johnson
Former Sweetwater resident Ella Mae "Ellie" (Wagner) Johnson died Monday, May 14, 2001, at her residence in Shelbyville. She was 56.
She was born May 3, 1945 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Virgil and Mary Margaret Wagner. They both preceded her in death.
She and Robert Arnold Johnson were married April 12, 1971. He survives.

Favian Perez Sr.
Favian Perez Sr., the father of Nashville resident Thomas Perez, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Columbus Regional Hospital. A resident of Columbus, he was 73.
Mr. Perez was born in Beeville, Texas, January 20, 1928, to Eduviguez and Soledad Villareal Perez.
He married Hermina D. Diaz January 3, 1950. She survives.
A Columbus city employee for 16 years, Mr. Perez retired in 1990 as a crew leader.
He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Parish.

Henry Rouse
Freetown resident Henry Turner Rouse died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Columbus Regional Hospital after an extended illness. He was 78.
Mr. Rouse was born July 5, 1922, in Taylor County, Kentucky, the son of Henry William and Nanny Turner Hardin Rouse. He was the stepson of Robert Shively. They all preceded him in death.
He and Elma Ople Tedder were married September 13, 1941, in Adair County, Kentucky. She died May 14, 1997.
A member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church in southern Brown County, Mr. Rouse had driven a bus during World War II for Camp Atterbury.

Marilyn Shepler
Marilyn (Graves) Shepler, the mother of Bear Wallow Hill resident Victoria Bennett, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. A resident of that community, she was 79.
She was born May 26, 1922, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Breading) Graves.
She was graduated from Lafayette-Jefferson High School in 1940.
She and John T. Shepler were married January 4, 1947, in Lafayette. He survives.

Harold Sherrill
Lake LaSalle resident Harold R. "Bob" Sherrill died Saturday, May 19, 2001, at his residence. He was 59.
Mr. Sherrill was born November 12, 1941, in Indianapolis, the son of Otlie and Gladys (Snyder) Sherrill.
He and Pamela A. Grant were married Dec-ember 28, 1971, in Indianapolis. She survives.
Mr. Sherrill had been a sergeant with the United States Army during the mid 1960s.
A skilled tradesman, Mr. Sherrill retired from Ford Motor Co-mpany in Indianapolis in 1998 after 33 years.
He also had worked in the bakery department at Morgantown IGA for a year, until May, 2000.

Pauline Smith
Pauline F. Smith, the mother of Nashville resident Edward D. Huckaby, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Manor Health Care Center in Winter Park, Florida. A resident of Orlando, Florida, she was 71.
Mrs. Smith was born June 2, 1929, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Lloyd and Sylvia Olson Hopkins.
She married Richard Smith, who died April 4, 1986.

Leroy Tutterow
County native Leroy Tutterow died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Bloomington Hospital. A resident of that community, he was 85.
Mr. Tutterow was born January 18, 1916, in Jackson Township, the son of William Otto and Goldie (Hedrick) Tutterow.
He married Nellie (Jones) Henry-Tutterow, and she survives.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Tutterow retired from RCA after 14 years. He also had worked at Robert Brothers Hardware in Nashville.

Merrill Williams
Brown County native Merrill J. Williams died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis. A resident of that community, he was 83.
Mr. Williams was born January 25, 1918, the son of James and Edell (Campbell) Williams.
He married Rae L. Sweeney, and she survives.
A member of Millersville Masonic Lodge, Mr. Williams retired as an engineer at Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis after 15 years of service.

Thelma Allebaugh
Thelma Allebaugh of Nashville died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Brown County Community Care Center. A resident here since 1983, she was 91.
She was born December 16, 1909, in Cisco, Illinois.
She married D. Meredith Allebaugh in Alexandria June 17, 1931. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Alle-baugh was a buyer for Dec-ker’s Incorpor-ated in And-erson for 35 years.
She was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Delta Theta Tau sorority.

Ada Cowden
Morgantown resident Ada (Mom) Cowden died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Morgan County Hospital in Martinsville. She was 84.
Mrs. Cowden was born in Beech Grove July 7, 1916, the daughter of Sjirk (Sam) and Lolke (Laura) Dykstra Vander-ploeg.
She married Jesse W. Cow-den in Indiana-polis May 17, 1937. He died May 21, 1971.
A homemaker, Mrs. Cow-den had owned the Sportsman Tavern in Mor-gantown from 1963 until 1991.

Joan Crawley
Former Morgantown resident Joan (Bear) Crawley died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Village Christian Park in Zionsville. She was 77.
Mrs. Crawley was born July 29, 1923, in Marion County, the daughter of Frank and Bertha M. Malone Bear.
She married Luther "Owen" Crawley. He preceded her in death.
A former artist in Brown County and Indianapolis, Mrs. Crawley wrote a column for the Martinsville newspaper.

Ruth Ellett Manning Miller
Morgantown resident Ruth Ellett Manning Miller died Friday, June 8, 2001, at John-son Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was 92.
She was born May 27, 1909 in Monroe County to James Fred and Pearl Smith Ellett.
She first married Percy R. Manning in July of 1929. He passed away in 1948.
In July, 1961 she married Tommy Miller Jr. who preceded her in death in 1979.
An artist, Mrs. Miller retired from the Dietary Department at Johnson Memorial Hospital in 1971 after nine years of service.

Ralph Morgan
Ralph H. Morgan died Friday, June 8, 2001, at the Brown County Community Care Center. A resident of Morgantown, and former resident of Indianapolis, he was 95.
Mr. Morgan was born February 18, 1906, in Clinton, the daughter of George and Susan (Dinkle) Morgan.
He married Cleora Stewart April 11, 1937. She survives.
A tool designer, Mr. Morgan was a partner and owner of State Gear Company in Indianapolis from the early 1950s until his retirement in 1969.
He was a member of the Amer-ican Society for Tool Engineers.

William Orbaugh
Grandma Barnes Road resident William "Bill" Orbaugh died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at his home. He was 77.
He was born November 20, 1923, in Marion County, the son of Charles and Roxy Orbaugh.
He was graduated from Rose Poly.
His wife, Cynthia, survives.
A Unites States Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Orbaugh was retired from Eli Lilly and Company.

Steven Roller
Steven Paul Roller died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at San Diego Hospice Inpatient Center in San Diego, California. He was 46.
He was born July 17, 1954, in Franklin, the son of Brown County residents Donald M. and Sharon J. Scalf Roller.
He was graduated from Remona High School in Riverside, California in 1972.
For more than 25 years Mr. Roller had been a painting supervisor for a wall design company in Irvin, California.

Rosemary Sisson
Brown County resident Rosemary Bay Sisson died Saturday, June 9, at her residence. She was 69.
She was born June 3, 1932, to Marvin Rex and Josephine Hatchett Bay.
She married Chelsea S. Sisson April 13, 1950, in Switz City. He survives.
Mrs. Sisson was retired from the Nashville House Country Store in 1986 after 14 years of employment.
She was a member of both the Greasy Creek Pentecostal Church and Belmont Pentecostal Church, and the Brown County Republican Women’s Organization. Mrs. Sisson also was active with the Brown County 4-H.

Kenneth White
Kenneth Lew White, brother of Nashville residents Dianna Lazell and Sharon Pittman, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at his Bloomington home. He was 62.
He was born November 10, 1938, in Bloomington, the son of Olan White and Ruby E. (Kelley) Terrell.
He was married to Mary (Meadows) White, who survives.
Mr. White worked as a press set-up man at ABB. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 1081 and American Legion and served in the United States Army.

Hershel Wilkerson
State Road 135 North resident Hershel Wilkerson died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at his residence. He was 83.
Mr. Wilkerson was born October 25, 1917, in Freetown, the son of Thomas and Lena Jane (Arwine) Wilkerson.
He married Laura Greathouse and she died June 15, 1985.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Wilkerson served from December 9, 1942 until December 2, 1945.
He was a mechanic and had worked for the state highway and other government departments for 32 years.
