DANBURY, Conn. -- Saundra S. France, 61, died at her residence Monday.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Danbury. Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery, Washington, at 2 p.m. Saturday. Gill Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Sept. 26, 1940, in Washington, to Ezra and Wilma (Moore) Graber. Her mother, Wilma (Graber) Hinkle, survives in Washington.
France, a Barr-Reeve High School graduate, was editor of Grolier, Inc. of Danbury for 25 years. She was an Indiana University graduate, where she received her Master's degree in English Literature. Also, she was a Danbury United Methodist Church and Phi Beta Kappa Sorority member.
Also surviving are: two sons, Richard, Bronx, N.Y. and Eugene, Danbury, Conn.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Janet and Bette and a brother, Donald.

Brenda Hall
ODON -- Brenda Darlene Hall, 53, Odon, died at 2 p.m. Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes. She had been in failing health for five years and seriously ill for four days.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, Odon, with Bro. Richard Crabtree officiating. Burial will be in Fair Haven Fellowship Church Cemetery, Loogootee.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Born on June 19, 1949, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of Paul and Rosa (Graber) Graber.
A homemaker, she was a member of First Christian Church, Odon.
She is survived by her husband, Jack D. Hall, whom she married on Oct. 3, 1987; her parents, Paul and Rosa Graber of Odon; one daughter, Melisa Dawn Hall, at home; four brothers, Bennie Graber, Paul Joe Graber and William Graber, all of Odon, and Solly Graber of Epsom; and four sisters, Paula Jean Graber, Anna Mae Wittmer, Geraldine Knepp and Marla Graber, all of Odon.

ROBERT ALLEN
Robert Lee Allen, 75, 400 E. George St., died at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday at Daviess Community Hospital.
Born Feb. 16, 1927, in Daviess County, he was the son of Herbert and Myrtle (Devine) Allen.
He attended Washington schools and retired from Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Harner) Allen, whom he married Sept. 16, 1947; one daughter, Nancy Thurston of Washington; three sons, Robert, Delbert and Terry Allen, all of Washington; four sisters, Geneva Grove, Betty Harrington, Helen English and Tina Boger, all of Washington; two brothers, Howard Allen of Conyers, Ga., and Charles Allen of Weekanen, N.J.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Two sons died in infancy. Three brothers, Junior, Billy and Kenny Allen are also deceased.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Gill Chapel, with Larry Stoll officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.

Cecile E. Gress
Cecile E. Gress, 84, 2007 E. Nat'l Hwy., died at 7:20 p.m. Friday at Daviess Community Hospital.
Born on Dec. 24, 1918, she was the daughter of Walter F. and Lanie N. (Canary) Preusz.
She attended Christ United Methodist Church and also attended Loogootee High School. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Loogootee.
She is survived by her brother, Walter Robert Preusz, Layton, Utah; and four stepdaughters, Wanda and Don Colvin, Montgomery, Debra and Jim Hollon, Linton, Pamela Sailer, Centralia, Ill., and Audra Gluck, Lyons.
She is preceded in death by husbands Oliver M. Keller whom she married Sept. 19, 1936 and died April 17, 1964, Leslie C. Hornaday, whom she married Nov. 21, 1964 and died March 30, 1987, and Gilbert Gress, whom she married Feb. 1, 1996 and died Nov. 13, 1998; one step granddaughter; one sister; and two brothers.
The funeral service is at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gill Chapel with the Revs. Wayne Preusz and Walter Robert Preusz officiating.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial is in Haysville Cemetery, Haysville.

Meredith Batchelor
Meredith Lyle Batchleor, 88, of Washington, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday at the Emerald House.
Born in Daviess County on Dec. 11, 1914, he was the son of Albert E. and Effie (Smith) Batchelor.
A retired maintainence department employee of 23 years at Daviess County Hospital, he attended Glendale Schools. He is survived by a sister, Eunice Manrone of Washington.
He is preceded in death by three sisters, Reba Ackman, Olive DeHart, and Dorothy Ramsey, and one brother Raymond Max Batchelor.
The funeral service is at 3 p.m. Saturday at Gill Chapel. Burial will be in New Veale Creek Cemetery.
Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home.

Harry B. Cissell
BLOOMINGTON -- Harry B. Cissell, 73, died at 3:45 a.m. Saturday at Bloomington Hospital.
Born April 30, 1930, in Loogootee, he was the son of Harry and Sarah (Kidwell) Cissell and a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 18. He was a Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by wife Joan Cissell; sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Linda Cissell and Kelan and Darla Cissell; daughters and sons-in-law Lisa North and Danny Kidd, Christina and Kevin Pauley and Grace Cissell, all of Bloomington; brother Lester Cissell, Florida; sisters, Milma Cissell, Mary Cissell, Jean Padgett and Shirley Wilson, all of Loogootee; and seven grandchildren.
He is preceeded in death by one sister and grandson Brandon Cissell.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Bloomington, with Fr. Michael Fritsch officiating.
Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens, Bloomington, with military graveside rites conducted by the Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.

Thelma L. Ashby
Thelma L. Ashby, 82, formerly of Otwell, died at 10:50 a.m. Saturday at the Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
Born Oct. 20, 1920 in Evansville, she was the daughter of Henry and Margaret (Hatfield) Gibbs.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by six daughters, Margaret Henson,Mrs. Myron "Claire" Myers, all of Otwell; Mrs. Jim" Bonnie" Sorgius, Boonville; Vicki Eck, Jasper; Jeanie Martinez, Washington; and Mrs. Harry "Lillian" Parks, Huntingburg; two sons, George Anderson and Richard Anderson, both of Washington; one sister, Virginia Gibson, Evansville; 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and several neices and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her three husbands Granville Anderson, Victor Underhill and James Ashby, as well as four daughters, Joyce Kiefer, Patsy Holt, Glenda Anderson and Mary Jane Anderson; son Robert Holt; and Kenny Ashby and Roger Ashby.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper with burial following at the Shiloh Cemetery in Jasper.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service and the chapel.

HERMAN HORTON
Herman H. Horton, 88, 915 N.E. Fifth St., died at Daviess Community Hospital at 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Born Dec. 15, 1915, in Daviess County, he was the son of Thomas B. and Abbie (Albert) Horton. He married Flora "Betty" Horton on Dec. 19, 1936, and she survives.
He was trustee of Harrison Township for 12 years, Daviess County Assessor for 12 years and parts manager at the Washington John Deere Implement Company for 18 years. He also helped organize Daviess Rural Water Systems.
He was a member of Hudsonville Methodist Church and attended Otterbein Methodist Church. He was a 1931 graduate of Glendale High School.
A 50-year member of the F&AM Glendale Masonic Lodge #461, he received the Sagamore of the Wabash Award in 1986.
He is also survived by son John P. Horton, daughters and son-in-law Dana and Reldon Bateman and Elanie Horton, all of Washington, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gill Chapel with Rev. Jeffery Mair and Rev. Mack Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Sugarland Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a Masonic service held at 6 p.m.

Mary Berry
LOOGOOTEE -- Mary E. Berry, 62, died at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in South Martin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at Brocksmith Funeral Home, 300 Church St., Loogootee. Visitation will also be from noon until the service hour at the church on Friday.
She was born on Feb. 20 1940, in Martin County, to William A. and Wilma (Dillon) Tomey. Her mother, Wilma (Dillon Tomey) Fields, survives in Loogootee, while her father preceded her in death. She married William "Frankie" Berry, on Dec. 24, 1964, and he survives.
Berry was a homemaker and Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church member.
Also surviving are: two sons, Robert and Danny, both of Loogootee; a brother, Charles Tomey, Bristol; a stepbrother, Mike Fields, Loogootee; three sisters, Agnes Berry and Betty Hotz, both of Loogootee and Violet Ruckrigel, Jasper and three grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ann Berry in 1968.

RUDOLPH VONDERSCMITT
JASPER -- Rudolph "Rudy" Vonderschmitt, 85, died at 8:57 a.m. Tuesday in the Jasper Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Jasper.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner downtown chapel in Jasper. A prayer vigil service will be by the Holy Family Parish members at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
He was born in Jasper, on Feb. 17, 1917, to Valentine and Susana (Keller) Vonderschmitt. He married Ruth Renner on Nov. 20, 1943, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Ireland. She survives.
Vonderschmitt was a retired farmer. Also, he was a Holy Family Catholic Church and Holy Name Society member.
Also surviving are: four daughters, Bonnie Worland, Huntingburg; Linda Uebelhor and Elaine Mills, both of Jasper and Myra Hamilton, Indianapolis; two brothers, Ralph and Bernie, both of Jasper; two sisters, Genevieve Schmidt, Huntingburg and Dolores Leinenbach, Ireland; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Louis, Arnold and Eugene Vonderschmitt and two sisters, Adel Hopf and Alberta Pfaff.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church or to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

LARRY JONES II
GOLDEN GATE, Fla. -- Larry Neal Jones II, 35, was electrocuted on the job in Bonita Springs, Fla. He died at 10:45 a.m. Friday.
Private Family services will be conducted with the Rev. Dean Stuckey officiating.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Gill Chapel.
He was born on Oct. 8, 1966, in Daviess County, to Larry Neal and Delphia M. (Armes) Jones. His mother survives in Golden Gate, Fla., while his father survives in Haines City, Fla.
Jones, a 1985 Washington High School graduate, was a electrician with Premier Electric Company. Also, he had attended Vincennes University and was an Eagles, Moose Lodge and Ducks Unlimited member, all in Washington.
He was known to many as Neal and was an avid fisherman and hunter, who loved to be outdoors. Formerly of Washington, he had recently moved to Naples, Fla., seeking a change in his life and to pursue a new career.
Also surviving are: a brother, Rick Joseph, Sylvania, Ohio; grandparents, Earl and Nora Armes, Washington; a niece and nephew, Kate and Max.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Laverne Jones and grandfather, Norman N. Jones.
Jones leaves behind several good friends and fond memories. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

She was born on Nov. 23, 1912, in Daviess County, to Leo and Sadie (Cullivan) Colvin. She married Laurence J. Seal on July 1, 1939, and he survives.
Seals was a homemaker and St. John Catholic Church member.
Also surviving are: a son, Charles, Mahomet, Ill.; three daughters, Marietta Lentz and Marlene Bullock, both of Loogootee and Martha Riggins, Raglesville; a sister, Mary Edith Hayes, Washington; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Frank and Orville Colvin; five sisters, Ruth Flaherty, Esther Amsden, Ermil Brown, Mildred Spaudling and Norma Werden and a granddaughter.

DAVENPORT, Fla. -- Norman Neal Jones, 87, died at 5:30 p.m. Monday at his residence.

He was born on Sept. 27, 1914, in Daviess County, to Otto M. and Janie (Allison) Jones. He married Helen Laverne Brittian on March 5, 1938, and she preceded him in death on April 1, 2000.
Jones was a retired farmer and self-employed trucker and former co-owner of LarNo Trucking in Washington. He had attended Cumback School. Also, he was a Washington Central Christian Church and Moose Lodge member.
Surviving are: a son, Larry Neal, Haines City, Fla.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a brother, Dallas, Clermont, Fla.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Jean Hill; a son, Stephen Joseph Jones and a grandson, Larry Neal Jones II.

Jerry William "Apple Man" Himsel, 67, Rt. 2, Box 328, Highbanks Road, died at 1:17 p.m. Wednesday at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes.

He was born on Jan. 7, 1935, in Daviess County, to Clarence J. and Etta (Williams) Himsel. He married Helen Jane Dayton on May 5, 1955, and she survives.
Himsel, a 1953 Alfordsville High School graduate, was a self-employed trucker and owner/operator of Himsel Orchard for 38 years. He was a First Baptist Church and National Guard member.
Also surviving are: two daughters, Martha Jane Overton, Rt. 2 and Lois Ann Nash, Marshall, Ill.; a son, Paul William Himsel, Rt. 2; five grandchildren, Kristin Nash, Brandon Nash, Adam Overton, Casey Himsel and Justin Himsel and a brother, Marvin Himsel, Baytown, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Himsel.

Born on April 11, 1927, in Pike County, he was the son of Claude Luttrull and Allie (Beadles) Luttrull McDaniels.
A World War II veteran, he was a painter for 20 years and worked for Texas Gas.
He is survived by two daughters, Debra Hortow of Jacksonville, Ark. and Barbara Fischer; one sister, Janet McDaniels of Petersburg; and two grandchildren.

Raymond 'Tiny' Paugh
Raymond "Tiny" Paugh, 85, 414 E. Hefron St., died at 12:55 a.m. Monday at Daviess Community Hospital. He had been seriously ill for two years.
Born Dec. 6, 1917, in West Virginia, he was the son of Leonard and Virgie (Ferguson) Paugh.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he owned Tiny and Alice Tavern for seven years; was Santa Claus for Cherry Hill Photo in Florida for seven years; was self-employed in the trucking business for 20 years and worked for Coca Cola in Washington for 10 years. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. and American Legion, and a member of F.O.P. He moved to Daviess County in 1966. Mr. Paugh played Santa Claus for the V.F.W., Sue Ann's Boutique, several day care centers and personal residences for several years. He was an avid gardner and was known as The Tomato King.
He is survived by his wife, Alice (Potts) Paugh, whom he married Dec. 4, 1954; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Kathy Martin of Santa Barbara, Calif., Ronald and Diana Martin of Columbus, and Gary Martin of Bloomfield; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Gary Adkins of Springfield, Ohio; five grandchildren, Tim Brown of Columbus, Ohio, Tammy Brown of Springfield, Ohio, Dawn Martin of Columbus, Rhonda Huie of Bloomington, and Chris Martin of Chicago; nine great-grandchildren, Larry, Nate, Gary Jr., Marques, Shellie, Logan, Travis, Amanda and Michael.
Four sisters and two brothers are deceased.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sugarland Memory Gardens Mausoleum, with Bro. Mack Jones officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Washington American Legion and V.F.W.

Charles Stanley Wald
Charles Stanley Wald, 55, 611 Morton St., died at 9:25 a.m. Monday at his residence. He had been ill for 13 months and seriously ill for one month.
Born May 3, 1948, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Charles Albert and Clarkie E. (Lambert) Wald.
Educated in Clinton, Maryland schools, he was a member of First Baptist Church. He had worked for a transit company in Annapolis, Md., and at Aristokraft and Kimball, Jasper, as a saw operator.
He is survived by his wife, Julia E. (Phillips) Wald, whom he married Dec. 17, 1979; daughters, Megan Wald of Washington, Margaret Wald and Paula Wald, both of LaPlata, Md., Debra Wald of Hughesville, Md.; stepdaughter, Jennifer Jones of Washington; son, Charles Wald, Jr. of St. Mary's, Md.; three sisters, Debra Hill of Clinton, Md., Elsie Mattingly and Theresa Wald, both of Hollywood, Md.; and 14 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Rev. Clifford Welch officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens.

Mickey Brosman
PETERSBURG -- Mickey Brosman, 66, died at 5:56 a.m. Monday at her residence.
Born Jan. 18, 1937, in Mattoon, Ill., she was the daughter of Roy and Maxine (Russell) Jones.
A member of First Baptist Church, Petersburg, she was an avid gardner and loved being around family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Al Brosman of Petersburg; one son, Michael Brosman of Casey, Ill.; daughters and sons-in-law, Debi and Tony Harvey and Krystal Hamm and Guy Hatt all of Petersburg; grandchildren, Jonathan and Karen Hamm, Brandon and Lisa Harvey, Joshua and Miranda Harvey, Roxann Hamm, Joelle Brosman and DeAnna Brosman; and great-grandchildren, Ronnie Hamm, Austin Harvey, Brookelynn Harvey and Lyric Harvey.
Her parents, one brother and one sister precede her in death.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, Petersburg. Burial will be in Walnut Hills Cemetery.

Sharon Massie Jacobs
Sharon Massie Jacobs, 60, died Saturday.
Born in 1943 in Washington, she was the daughter of Harold and Mary Ruth Massie. With a B. from Northeast Missouri University and a MS in Education, she was a reading specialist for several years in Indianapolis public schools.
A tireless volunteer, she devoted much time to Meals on Wheels, organized by her late mother-in-law, Marjorie Jacobs. She was a president of the Sunnyside Guild, former chairperson of Town Hall Series, former co-president of the Indianapolis Chapter of National Council for Jewish Women, first woman co-chairman of the Jewish Welfare Federation Annual Drive, board member of the Jewish Community Center, former Docent chairman of the Indianapolis Museum of Art and former Docent Search Program chairperson.
She and her husband of 27 years, Stephen Jacobs, co-founded and endowed the Jacobs Home, a residence for developmentally disabled adults. She served as a board member of the Jacobs Home and was a former board member of the Jewish Feration of Greater Indianapolis.
She is survived by her husband, her parents, daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Peter Wenzler, step-daughter and her husband Ben and Lisa (Jacobs) Deremiah, sister Sandy Olin, niece Jill Olin, daughter-in-law Amanda Martillas and 10 grandchildren, Emily and Stephanie Deremiah, Charlotte, Aaron, Ben and Conrad Jacobs, and Henry, James and Meredith Wenzler.
The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. today at the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation.
Burial was in Indianapolis Hebrew Cemetery North.

Harry Frederick Wachter
Harry Frederick Wachter, 89, 215 S.W. Third St., died at 7:55 p.m. Monday at Washington Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 24, 1914, in Collinsville, Ill., he was the son of John and Gertrude (Monroe) Wachter.
A member of First Baptist Church, he had been a brakeman for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He was a 50-year member of Glendale Masonic Lodge No. 460, member of Washington Conservation Club and Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He was a leader of youth programs at Aikman Creek Baptist Church for many years and was chairman of the Leadership Training Program of Boy Scouts Silver Beaver Award.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jim Kriewall, Ft. Collins, Colo.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy Lee and Nyla Wachter of Washington, and Kenneth W. and Wanda Wachter of Elsmere, Ky.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
His wife, Ruth Marie (Smothers) Wachter, whom he married Oct. 2, 1938, died Dec. 28, 1992. One grandson, Michael Kriewall, and two brothers, Roy E. and Leo K. Wachter, are also deceased.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gill Chapel. Burial is in Sugarland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Gill Chapel.
Masonic services will be at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Preferred memorials are to the Cancer Society or Diabetes Association.

Kenneth Alanson Cone
Kenneth Alanson Cone, 89, 511 Sunset Ave., died at 6 a.m. Monday at Eastgate Manor Nursing Home.
Born April 7, 1914, in Martin County, he was the son of Alex and Agnes Myrtle (Bussinger) Cone.
He attended Montgomery and Bruce, S.D. schools. He retired from B & O Railroad and was a member of St. Simon's Church. He lived and worked in North Vernon, Ind., from 1950 to 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Eva (Carrico) Cone, whom he married Dec. 29, 1938; two sons, Ronald Joseph Cone of Seymour and James Kenneth Cone of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by one sister, Helen Loughmiller, and one brother, Keith Sidney Cone.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Simon's Church, with Fr. David Martin as the celebrant. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Marjorie H. Tolbert
PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA. -- Marjorie H. Tolbert, 86, formerly of Glezen and Monroe City, died at the home of her granddaughter, Kim Adams, Ooltewah, Tenn., at 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
The funeral will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg with Pastor Michael Robertson officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

James W. Gardner, 73, Ireland, Ind., died at 8:35 p.m. Friday at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, Jasper.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with burial following in St. Mary's Cemetery, Ireland.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
A Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. Monday by members of St. Mary's Parish, and a memorial service will be at 7 p.m. by members of the Jasper Moose Lodge.

Christine I. Monts
FRANKLIN, N.H. -- Christine I. Monts, 74, former Washington resident, died at 1:09 a.m. Friday at Franklin Regional Hospital.
Born Nov. 12, 1928, in Lyons, she was the daughter of Benjamin and Abbie (Hollingsworth) Huey.
She attended Washington schools and was a former secretary in Washington D.C. for many years. Later she worked at the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord, N.H., for more than 10 years. She and Mr. Monts owned and operated an antique shop in their home in Franklin.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Monts of Franklin, N.H., whom she married in 1947; one daughter, Mary E. Bullock of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Jeffrey S. Monts of Seattle, Wash.; four sisters, Loretta Tate of Springfield, Mo., Barbara Ludwick of Oakland City, Pauline Hawthorne of Haysville and Betty Smith of Washington; one sister-in-law, Sarah Monts Johnson of Washington; and six grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gill Chapel, with Bro. Byran Walden officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

LELA SMITH
LOOGOOTEE - Lela Divine Smith, 74, 923 N. Line St., died at 4:15 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Born Jan. 10, 1929, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Ronald "Gus" and Nellie (Ledgerwood) Divine. She married Bert Smith on April 9, 1950, and he survives.
Affiliated with Loogootee United Methodist Church, she was a homemaker and a self-employed business woman.
She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law Kent Bert and Krissy Smith and Bruce W. Smith, all of Loogootee; daughters and sons-in-law Donna Hill, Marlene Spears, Mike and Karen Hopkins, Tamara Mattingly and Ron and Trudy Riley, all of Loogootee, and Danny and Sheila Denson of Avon, Ind.; Also, she is survived by brothers Harvey Divine and Donald Divine of Loogootee, Wayne Divine of Indianapolis, Leonard Divine of Portland, Ore., and Hubert Divine of Kansas City, Kan.; sisters Aletta Walton of Loogootee and Helen Massey of Brownsburg; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a sister, Louise Proffit.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brocksmith Funeral Home, with burial following in St. John Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 6 p.m.

Dorothy Walden
BLOOMINGTON -- Dorothy M. Walden, 91, Bloomington, died Friday.
Born April 25, 1911, in Sullivan, she was the daughter of Hardy McClellen and Armina Elizabeth (Nesbitt) Raines.
A Sullivan High School graduate, she worked at the Indiana University Alumni Office for over 35 years. She was a member of the Highland Village Church of Christ, Bloomington.
She is survived by one daughter, Beverly (Shields) Pascual of Downers Grove, Ill.; two sons, Charles Robert Walden of Fort Myers, Fla., and Bryan A. Walden of Washington; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Mason Walden, died in 1975. One brother and three sisters are also deceased.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Allen Funeral Home, Bloomington, with Bro. James Harris officiating. Burial will be in Chambersville Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
