Carl W. Van Scyoc, 72
Carl W. Van Scyoc, 72, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at Hancock Memorial Hospital in Greenfield.
Born March 26, 1931, in Gwynneville, he was the son of Buryl and Jessie (Handy) Van Scyoc. He married Rita L. Ruby on Aug. 28, 1976; she survives.
Mr. Van Scyoc was a 1949 graduate of Morristown High School. He spent most of his life in Shelby County. He was a farmer and worked for more than 20 years at Pioneer Seed in Rushville, retiring in 1986.
Survivors in addition to his wife include six daughters, Diane (Mrs. Jack) Essex, Sue (Mrs. John) Goodrich, Brenda (Mrs. Roger) Browning, Amy (Mrs. Shannon) Daniel, and Chris Justus, all of Shelbyville, and Carla Pierce of Seymour; four sons, Geary and Kris, both of Shelbyville, Jon of San Jose, Calif., and Steve of New Palestine; 25 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held at Frazier Funeral Home in Morristown. Burial will take place in Asbury Cemetery in Morristown. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are requested to the American Heart Association or the American Emphysema Association.

Wanda G. Woods, 70, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel in Connersville, with Pastor James Spon officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery in Connersville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Venable Family Cemetery in Lee County, Ky., or the Fayette County Diabetes Support Group.
Noble A. Lane, 81
Noble A. Lane, 81, of Milroy, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born Aug. 12, 1922, in Ellrod, Ind., he was the son of Frank R. and Nellie F. (Rahe) Lane, both deceased.
Mr. Lane was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was a farmer and belonged to American Legion Post 150 in Rushville.
Survivors include one cousin, Tom Hall (and wife Karen) of Rushville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Burns Funeral Home in Milroy, with the Rev. Randy Hooten officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Association.
Maurice Lee Gordon, 86
Maurice Lee 'Pard' Gordon, 86, of Raleigh, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at The Waters of New Castle.
Born Nov. 10, 1917, in rural Raleigh, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Ollie E. (Parrish) Gordon.
Mr. Gordon attended Raleigh schools and lived all of his life in the Raleigh area. He was owner/operator of a stock truck and had also been employed by Mid-Central Operating Engineers. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Rushville Elks Lodge, Raleigh Volunteer Fire Department, and a founding member of the Raleigh Community Club.
Survivors include his companion, Margaret Lamb of Cambridge City, and her two daughters, Kathy (Mrs. Wayne) Todd of Cambridge City and Sherri (Mrs. Scott) Taylor of Richmond; and two sisters, Martha (Mrs. Dr. William) Heilman of New Castle and Phyllis (Mrs. Bub) Becktell of Inverness, Fla.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Ruth Cox, who died in 1967, and his second wife, Velma Whisler, who died in 1984; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville, with the Rev. Joe Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery in Raleigh. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.

Jerry F. Reiner, 66, of Milroy, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
Born Oct. 29, 1937, he was the son of the late Franklin F. and Louise (Parker) Reiner. He married Rosemary Campbell of Milroy; she survives.
Mr. Reiner was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a machinist at BCA in Greensburg for 35 years before retiring to his farm in Milroy.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one son, Jason Reiner of Milroy; two daughters, Misty Abrams of Gowdy and Debra (Mrs. Charles) Spaeth of Rushville; two brothers, Stanley Reiner of Bright, Ind., and Frank Reiner Jr. of West Harrison; two sisters, Mae Branditz of Sunman and Anita Hansell of Harrison, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Burns Funeral Home in Milroy, with the Rev. Howard Wickersham officiating. Interment, which will include graveside military rites, will follow in East Brook Cemetery in Milroy. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born June 25, 1943, in Ulvah, Ky., she was the daughter of Corbett and Mattie (Sexton) Campbell, both deceased.
Mrs. Ward spent her early years in Kentucky but had lived in Rush County most of her life. She was a 1962 graduate of Letcher County High School in Kentucky. She had worked as a nurse's aid at the Jackson Nursing Home in Rushville.
Survivors include one son, Keith Ison of Rushville; two brothers, Eugene Campbell of Cleveland, Ohio, and Emmett Campbell of Tennessee; four sisters, Lonnie (Mrs. Larry) Reams of Kentucky, Larue Holland of Carthage, Viola 'Jo' Yazel of Rushville, and Irene (Mrs. Richard) Holland of Missouri; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday at the mortuary.
