Elizabeth L. 'Betty' Kuhn, 86
Elizabeth L. "Betty" Kuhn, 86, of Rushville, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. Born March 15, 1917, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ralph A. and Sarah Mae (Richards) Folsom, both deceased. She married Dr. Irvin E. Kuhn on June 30, 1940; he preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1991. Mrs. Kuhn lived most of her life in Milroy, moving to Rushville in 1992. She was a 1935 graduate of Columbus North (Ohio) High School and a 1939 graduate of Ohio State University. While at OSU she was a member of the Alpha Phi Social Sorority, Phi Epsilon Omicron Professional Sorority, and the Omicron Nu Scholastic (Honorary) Sorority of Home Economists. She was a member of Milroy United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for more than 50 years. Her memberships included Modern Home Arts Home Ec Club in Milroy, past president of the Culture Club in Milroy, past president of the Extension Homemakers Club in Rush County, American Sewing Guild (of which she was the founder), and Eastern Star #471 of Milroy. She was the Rush County assistant home economist for many years, as well as an assistant to her husband at the Vet Clinic in Milroy. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Beth Bryant of Cape Cod, Mass., Margery Robertson of Sarasota, Fla., and Carole Peggs (and husband Dennis) of Rushville; four grandsons, Steven Robertson of Athens, W.Va., Jeffery Bryant of Fort Wayne, and John and Jay Peggs, both of Rushville; and one granddaughter, Karen (Bryant) Stacy (and husband Scott) of Middletown, N.Y. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville, with Pastor Phil Mitchell and Bill Worrell officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery in Rush County. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions are requested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Michael D. Bone, 40
Michael D. Bone, 40, of Falmouth, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at his home. Born June 16, 1963, in Frankfort, Ind., he was the son of Bill and Betsy (Trent) Bone. Mr. Bone had lived in the Falmouth area for the past four years. Prior to that he had lived in Rushville. He had been employed at Visteon in Connersville for the past 17 years. Survivors include his mother, Betsy (Mrs. Dave) Bone Brown of Shelbyville; one daughter, Shelby Bone (and her mother, Angela Bone Schepper) of New Palestine; three brothers, Richard Peterson of Rushville, Scott Bone of Shelbyville, and Chill Elmore of Laurel; two sisters, Joni Davis and Susan (Mrs. Scott) Tebbe, both of Rushville; and one granddaughter, Oscar Bone of Lafayette. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville, with the Rev. Charles Justice and Pastor Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions are requested to a college fund for Shelby Bone c/o the funeral home.

Martha Louise Winkler, 67
Martha Louise Winkler, 67, of Whiteland, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at her home. Born Feb. 18, 1936, in Jamestown, Ind., she was the daughter of Fred Bruce and Virginia Charlotte (Davis) Hadley. She was married to Jack Winkler for 49 years; he survives. Mrs. Winkler was co-owner of Winkler Family Restaurant for 13 years, and was currently employed at Alpine Electronics. Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Paul David Winkler of Whiteland, and Jack Lee Winkler Jr. of Franklin; two daughters, Virtoria Lynn Winkler of Galion, Ohio, and Stacey Ann Claudio of Austin, Texas; three brothers, William Hadley of Cloverdale, Thomas Hadley of Milroy, and Fred Hadley of Anderson; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. There will be no public funeral services, burial or visitation. Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel handled arrangements. Memorial contributions are requested to the Johnson County Public Library, 401 S. Doris Louise Lane, 84
Doris Louise Lane, 84, of Lewisville, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at the Elsie Dreyer Nursing Home in Brookville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel in Lewisville, with the Rev. Marion Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in Lewisville Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Denny Moody, 64
Denny Moody, 64, of Rushville, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2003, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Born May 13, 1939, in Rush County he was the son of Edith LaFary Moody. Mr. Moody was a 1958 graduate of Rushville High School and was in the Air Force from 1958 to 1961. He had worked as a factory worker at Trane, Detroit Steel, and Arvin. He also had worked at Wonder Bread and was a condo resident manager for 10 years in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended Assembly of God Church in Rushville. Survivors include three sons, Michael W. (and wife Patress) and Stephen A. Moody, both of Rushville, and Scott Moody (and wife Grace) of Chula Vista, Calif.; two brothers, Bob and Vernon Moody, both of Rushville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Assembly of God Church, 125 S. Morgan Street, Rushville, with Pastor Bill Beadle officiating. The Todd Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville, with military rites.

Dave DeWitt, 36
Dave DeWitt, 36, of Rushville, died Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003. Following cremation a Mass of Remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Rose Catholic Church in Knightstown. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Todd Funeral Home of Rushville is handling arrangements.

William Worth Hardin Jr., 66, of Asheboro, N.C., died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Hardin was a native of Guilford County and served in the U.S. Army. He was formerly employed at Moster & Sons Mortuary in Rushville, Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Service in Greensboro, N.C., and retired from Smurfit-Stone Corp. in Greensboro, N.C. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro, president of Mid-State Beagle Club, and a member of Carolina Beagle Club. Survivors include wife Martha A. Hardin; two sons, Randall James Hardin (and wife Chris) of Greensboro, N.C., and Nathan Worth Hardin (and wife Barbara) of Summerfield, N.C.; two daughter, Deborah Sue Tilley and Cynthia Annette (Mrs. Doug) Biggs, both of Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, Donald H. Hardin (and wife Nancy) of Arlington; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel in Asheboro, with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Carmen K. Reed, 80, of Rushville, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at Miller's Merry Manor in Rushville. Born July 10, 1923, in Rush County, she was the daughter of Elmer and LaVonne (Wagoner) Kellam, both deceased. She married Thomas Reed; he preceded her in death. Mrs. Reed was a 1941 graduate of Milroy High School. A former Shelbyville resident, she retired in 1985 as a vice president at Sun Bank in Florida where she had worked for many years. Survivors include three daughters, Linda McNally, Dianne Spillane, and Vikki Hayden; one son, David Reed; one brother, Richard L. Kellam of Shelbyville; one sister, Edna K. Bailey of Milroy; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Milroy Christian Church, where she had been a member. Hendryx Mortuary of Indianapolis is handling arrangements. Shirley Ann Dixon, 61, of Rushville, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at W.S. Major Hospital in Shelbyville. Born Aug. 2, 1942, in Brookville, she was the daughter of Opal and America (Lovins) Thompson, both deceased. She married James E. Dixon on April 6, 1962; he preceded her in death. Mrs. Dixon was a homemaker, and a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Rushville. Survivors include two daughters, Paula (Mrs. Donald) Girdler of Shelbyville and Loretta (Mrs. Shane) Ritter of Rushville; two sons, Danny Dixon (and wife Janet) and Jamie Dixon (and wife Angie), both of Rushville; four sisters, Loretta (Mrs. Walker) Halcomb of Knightstown, Dorothy (Mrs. Denver) Reese of Connersville, and Ruby (Mrs. Charles) Denham and Phyllis (Mrs. Robert) Jacobs, both of Rushville; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two brothers and a grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service in Shelbyville, with the Rev. Kenneth Bates and the Rev. Travis Girdler officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery in Milroy. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

John H. Stegner, 101
John H. Stegner, 101, of Connersville, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Miller's Merry Manor in Rushville. Born Aug. 16, 1902, in Franklin County, he was the son of Leonard and Helen Stegner, both deceased. He married Dorothy E. Story on Feb. 24, 1934; she preceded him in death. Mr. Stegner and his wife farmed in Franklin and Fayette counties for more than 60 years. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, a former member of Indiana Farm Bureau, and a member of the Eagles Lodge in Rushville where he was recognized as a Golden Eagle. Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Anderson of Connersville and Judith (Mrs. Michael) Strothman of Orange; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, George Stegner of Brookville. Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by four sisters and 10 brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery in Brookville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Miller-Moster-Robbins Funeral Home in Connersville, where a rosary service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions are requested to the St. Gabriel Church Endowment Fund.

Mary Blanche Feldmaier, 95
Mary Blanche Feldmaier, 95, of Rushville, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Flatrock River Lodge. Born March 12, 1908, in Rush County, she was the daughter of Marshall and Edna (Pummel) Elder, both deceased. Mrs. Feldmaier had lived in Rush County since 1994, and in Florida prior to returning to Rush County. She had worked at International Furniture in Rushville, and at Darell Products in Miami, Fla. Survivors include one son, Harold V. Johnting of Rushville; and three grandsons. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville, with the Rev. Timothy Bonney officiating. Burial will follow in Goddard Cemetery in Rush County. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Monday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions are requested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Harriette E. Hall, 91
Harriette E. Hall, 91, of Franklin, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at the Indiana Masonic Home. Born March 8, 1912, in New Salem, she was the daughter of Ozro and Stella (Humes) Bever, both deceased. She married Wayne T. Hall on Nov. 14, 1934; he preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1990. Mrs. Hall lived her entire life in Rush County. She attended New Salem High School, and was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rushville. She was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, and the OES Martha Poe Chapter. During the 1950's she worked as an aide at Rush Memorial Hospital, and worked as a cook at Webb School from 1950 to 1958. She was active in the Ladies Circle at the church, a past 4-H leader, and a member of the RMH Auxiliary. Survivors include one son, Daniel W. Hall of New Palestine; two daughters, Lucretia Lucas of Noblesville and Linda (Mrs. Larry) Taylor of Greenwood; two brothers, Todd Bever and Richard Bever, both of Texas; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville, with the Rev. Ruth Starr officiating. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary, and will include an Eastern Star service. Memorial contributions are requested to the American Heart Association.

(Phillips) Hazlett; she survives. On July 23, 1960, he married Bertha 'Lee' House; she survives. Mr. Hazlett owned and operated Hazlett Drywall for more than 40 years. A former member of the U.S. Navy, he was a member of Blue River Wesleyan Church, the Thunder Road Car Club, and the Pioneer Steam Engine Club. Survivors in addition to his mother and wife include two daughters, Karen (Mrs. James) Hunt of Carthage and Jane Hazlett of Mays; four sisters, Sue Fox and Ruby Gander, both of Stanford, Ky., Virginia Craine of Louisville, Ky., and Serena Mullikan of Richmond, Ky.; and five grandchildren. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Frazier Funeral Home in Morristown. Burial, which will include graveside military rites, will follow in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are requested to the American Lung Association.
