George A. Antoniu
Aug. 5, 1919 - June 4, 2002
George A. Antoniu, 82, of Davis Lake Street, Edwardsburg, Mich., died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, in his residence. Mr. Antoniu was born on Aug. 5, 1919, in Whiting, Ind., to the late Eli D. and Helen Marie (Wintershield) Antoniu, and had lived in Edwardsburg the past five months. He had previously lived in Chicago, Ill., and Mountain Home, Ark. He had also resided in South Bend, Ind., from 1969 to 1976, and from 1996 until moving to Edwardsburg. On Jan. 26, 1946, in Niles, Mich., he married Loretta Ramsby, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Kathleen R. MacDonald of South Bend; two sons, Dale E. Antoniu of Rock Ledge, Fla., and Roger A. (Pamela) Antoniu, with whom he lived in Edwardsburg; five grandchildren, Brooke, Brent and Blake MacDonald, and Alexander and Jenee Antoniu; one sister, Irma (Paul) Longenbaugh of Ocean Hill, Calif.; and by a brother, Max (Emma Lou) Jeffrey of Niles. Mr. Antoniu retired as a mechanical contractor in the heating and cooling industry. His last position was with the Flippo Nursing Home in Mountain Home. He was a member of Logan Square Masonic Lodge #1007 F&AM, Skokie, Ill., and Medina Shrine Temple, both of Chicago, and attended Granger Missionary Church in Granger, Ind. He was also a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 6th, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, with Rev. Bob Renner of Granger Missionary Church officiating. Cremation will take place at Michiana Crematory, with burial at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, to follow at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Macular Degeneration Foundation, P. O. Box 531313, Henderson, NV 89053.

Thomas J. Boehnlein
Jan. 21, 1953 - June 4, 2002
Thomas J. Boehnlein, 49, of West 9th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a sudden illness in his residence on Tuesday, June 4, in the Saint Joseph Com-munity Hospi-tal. Tom was born on Jan. 21, 1953, in Mishawaka, as the son of James C. and Mary L. (Boerjan) Boehnlein. Tom is survived by his parents, James and Mary Boehnlein of Mishawaka; an uncle, Martin Rosemary Boehnlein of Mishawaka, Margaret Pryblo of Lakeville, Ind., Irene McGann of Mishawaka and Loretta Sipe of Mishawaka; and by several nieces and nephews. Tom was a lifetime area resident and a graduate of Marian High School. He worked for Kelley Farms for the past 10 years. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street, Mishawaka. Wake prayers will take place in the funeral home at 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 8, in St. Bavo's Catholic Church, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Gerald F. Christ
Aug. 10, 1938 - June 3, 2002
Gerald F. Christ, 63, of South Fifteenth Street, Niles, Mich., died following an extended illness at 10:15 p.m. Monday, June 3, in the Lakeland Medical Center, Niles. He was born Aug. 10, 1938, in St. Joseph, Mich., to Henry and Edith (Sassaman) Christ, and had lived most of his lifetime in this area. Mr. Christ retired in 1997 after 25 years of employment with the Bosch Chassis Division in Saint Joseph, and served as a reserve officer for 25 years with the Niles City Police Department. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of St. Joe Valley Hobo's and Wandering Wolverines, both camping clubs. Mr. Christ was a volunteer for Niles Township Fire Department, Niles City Fire Department and SMCAS. On Sept. 28, 1957, in Cassopolis, Mich., he married the former Judith Stahl, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Cynthia A. (Lewis) Whittaker of Niles and Jennifer L. (Wayne) Samuels of Bremen, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Pamela Brown of Greasy Creek, N.C.; grandchildren, Christina Whittaker, Michael and Amber Stites, Autumn Samuels and Eddie Askeldsen; his mother, Edith Christ of Niles; and by a brother, James Christ of Edwardsburg, Mich. He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Scott Christ, who died in infancy. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, in the Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles, with the Reverend Scott A. Goodman of First Baptist Church in Niles officiating. Interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery, Niles. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Gerald F. Christ may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ruth M. Clayton
Oct. 19, 1929 - May 31, 2002
Mrs. Ruth Madelin Clayton, 73, who resided on Anderson Mill Road, Austell, Ga., passed away after an extended illness at 4:25 a.m. Friday, May 31, in Well Star Cobb Hospital. On Oct. 19, 1929, in New Rochelle, N.Y., she was born to the union of the late Henry and Mattie Bell (Joyner) Smith. Ruth retired from Raco, Inc., after 30 years of employment. In November 2000, Ruth decided to move to Austell to be with her other children and grandchildren, after residing in South Bend, Ind., for 41 years. She was a former member of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Harry "Cigar" Clayton; her sister and brother-in-law, Martha Lasane and Robert Lasane; and by her brother, Samuel Smith. She is survived by three daughters, Joyce Clayton of South Bend, Rhonda Clayton of Decatur, Ga., and Harriet Wright of Norcross, Ga.; a son, Andre (Annette) Clayton of East Hartford, Conn.; two sisters, Mary (Carl) Emmanuel of New Rochelle and Irene Taylor of Bronx, N.Y.; one brother, Abraham Smith of West Virginia; a special grandchild, Rochelle Clayton; and by eight other grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 10, in Alford's Mortuary. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in Alford's Mortuary where arrangements have been entrusted.

Marjorie Ann Keeler
April 26, 1926 - June 4, 2002
Marjorie Ann Keeler, 76, of Granger, Ind., quietly passed in the presence of her family at 8 a.m. on Tues-day, June 4, in her home. Marjorie was born in Mish-awaka, Ind., on April 26, 1926, to Russell Dean Funk and Florence Daisy Funk (Lewton). She was a 1944 Mishawaka High School graduate where she was very active in the school choir and drama programs. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Wayne Keeler, whom she married at Immanuel Baptist Church of Mishawaka on Oct. 12, 1946. She is also survived by her daughter, Cheryl Ann Cockey of Mishawaka; son, Dean Russell (Martha Kristine) Keeler; her five grandchildren, Rejeanna Deane (Christopher) Sellers, Nathan Charles (Kathy Ryan) Cockey, Candace Kristine (Adam Clark) Keeler, Elizabeth Jo (Brian) Leeper and Corwin Joseph (Elizabeth Maik) Cockey; and by two great-grandchildren Wyatt Dale (#3) Sellers and Olivia Ann Cockey. Marjorie was a lovingly dedicated homemaker, who enjoyed sewing, gardening, caring for her grandchildren and cooking; she was especially noted for her famous macaroni and cheese. She loved playing cards with her friends and for many years belonged to the Bonte Card Club. Charles and Marjorie loved to travel and explore northern Michigan. In the springtime, you could find them hunting mushrooms near their cabin in Atlanta, Mich. Visitation will be held in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, Mishawaka, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 6. Services will be held at Westminster Presbyterian, 1501 W. Cleveland Road, South Bend, beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 7. Interment to follow at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, South Bend. Marjorie will be intently missed by family and friends.

Teresa M. Linarello
Dec. 5, 1913 - June 3, 2002
SOUTH BEND — Teresa Maria Linarello, 88, of East McKinley Avenue, passed away of an illness at 8:45 p.m. on Monday, June 3, in the Saint Joseph Re-gional Medical Center, with her loved ones by her side. Teresa was born on Dec. 5, 1913, in Gioi-osa, Jonica, Italy, to the late Fransesco and Maria Sabatino. She lived in South Bend, Ind., for 64 years, coming from New Castle, Pa., where on Aug. 18, 1938, she married Rocco C. Linarello, who passed away on March 31, 1983. Mrs. Linarello is survived by her daughter, Norma Jean (Ralph) Villanucci of Granger, Ind.; her two sons, Carman John (Janice) Linarello and Frank Nicholas (Barbara) Linarello, both of South Bend; six grandchildren, Laura Olivera, Gina Nurenburg, Denise Wesolowski, David Linarello, Leslie McCurdy and Nick Linarello; her three great- grandchildren, Brian, Michael and Daniel Wesolowski; and by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Rite of Burial will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, University of Notre Dame, with Rev. Peter Rocca, CSC, officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Mausoleum. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today in the McGann Funeral Home, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend, where the Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Mrs. Linarello was a member of the St. Joseph Church Altar Society, and was a frequent volunteer and eucharistic minister at Cardinal Nursing Home. Dr. Glenn A. McNiel
Jan. 26, 1944 - May 22, 2002
Dr. Glenn Alfred McNiel, 58, of 3608 Rock Mea-dows Circle, High Point, N.C., died Wednesday, May 22, in his home. Dr. McNiel was born Jan. 26, 1944, in Waukegan, Ill., the son of Robert and Louise Stapleton McNiel. He had been a resident of High Point for 1½ years and became pastor of the St. John's New Mission United Church of Christ in Burlington in August 2001. Previous to that time he had been the executive director of Allied Churches of Alamance County, N.C. Prior to moving to North Carolina, Dr. McNiel served as pastor at Grace United Methodist Church in Niles, Mich. (1996-2000). He was also on the staff of Bethel College in Mishawaka, Ind., for 10 years, where he was the director of the residential campus as well as teaching courses. He was a life member of the NAACP and an affiliate member of the First A.M.E. Zion Church in South Bend. He was a graduate of Malone College, Princeton University, Asbury College and Fuller Theological Seminary. On Oct. 30, 1993, he was married to Sandra Schultz, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Matthew McNiel and wife, Nikki of Warsaw, Ind.; a daughter, Mrs. Scott (Emily) Miller of Alliance, Ohio; a stepson, Robert Tucker and wife, Debi of Charlotte, N.C.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Eric (Wendy) Cleveland of Salt Lake City, Utah, Mrs. David (Denise) Halgren of Williamsburg, Va., and Mrs. Bill (Annette) Roberts of Wichita Falls, Texas; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Robert McNiel and wife, Kathleen of Garden Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Curt (Eileen) Thomas of Monroe Falls, Ohio, and Mrs. Joan Rutkowski of Stow, Ohio. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, in Grace United Methodist Church, Niles (683-8770). Lunch will be served following the service. Olen S. Roahrig
June 6, 1917 - June 4, 2002
Olen S. "Oley" Roahrig, 84, widely known in the area farming community, died at 7:16 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2002. Oley died in the Bremen Hospital of natural causes. Born the son of Ernest and Hazel Carpenter Roahrig on June 6, 1917, Oley graduated from Plymouth's Lincoln High School with the class of 1936. Three years later, on Sept. 24, 1939, in Inwood, Oley and Lovette "Betts" Rhoade were married. A lifetime Marshall County resident, Oley and his wife bought the family farm in 1948. He also owned and operated Inwood Feed and Grain Elevator from 1960 until 1998. To the present he remained involved in farming, only giving up time on the tractor last season. Golf was a passion. He helped build the back nine at Fountainhead Golf Course. He was a Chicago Cub fan and enjoyed watching his son, Dave, grandson, Stanley O. Jr., and now a great-grandson, race stock cars on the NASCAR and Indy circuit. His grandchildren's many activities were a source of pride and joy to Oley and he enjoyed wintering in Avon Park, Fla., for the past 30 years, always involved in the Plymouth Day event. He was a former member of the Inwood school board and past president of the Inwood P.T.A. Oley is survived by his wife, Lovette of nearly 63 years, and by a daughter and two sons and their families. His daughter is Judy A. and Roger McKinney, Argos, and his sons are David L. and Stephanie L. Roahrig, and Stanley O. and Susie Roahrig, all of Plymouth. Six grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. A brother, Darwin and Marcele Roahrig, Avon Park, Fla., and Frances (Mrs. Willard) Lemler, Bourbon, together with several nieces and nephews survive as well. Oley was preceded in death by his parents. Friends may call on the family and share their memories of Oley from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 7, 2002, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2002, in the funeral home where Rev. Michael Dixon, pastor of the Inwood Methodist Church of which Oley was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial gifts in Oley's memory may be made to the Inwood Methodist Church.

Faithly Cadogan
July 12, 1938 - Dec. 11, 2001
Mother Faithly Cadogan, 63, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who resided at 1423 Orkney Court, South B end, Ind., passed away following a brief illness at 5:44 a.m. Tuesday, Dec 11, 2001, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. On July 12, 1938, she was born in St. Mary, Jamaica, to Dervin White and Agatha Mothersill. Mother Cadogan moved to South Bend in 1991 from Orlando, Fla. She was a member of Victory Lighthouse Christian Church, South Bend, where she served faithfully as a prayer warrior and mother. Many loving memories of Mother Cadogan will be cherished by her mother, Agatha Mothersill of Jamaica, West Indies; her children, Michael Irving, Carroll and Reverend Daniel V. Cavinder, Noel and Celeste Cadogan, Derrick Cadogan and Cynthia Rucker, and Winsome Skinner and Ron Carr; her grandchildren, Tenelle Cadogan, Keyontay Skinner, Le Treice Irving, Michael Irving, Jr., Yuverdia (China) Irving, Shana Cadogan and Julian Cadogan; along with other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, in Alford's Mortuary where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Patti Mack-Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Alford's Mortuary has been entrusted with arrangements.

Rocco P. DiLorenzo
Dec. 9, 1942 - Nov. 28, 2001
Rocco P. DiLorenzo, 58, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away at home in Fort Myers, Fla., on Wed-nesday, Nov-ember 28, of an extended illness. Rocco was born on Dec-ember 9, 1942, in Bronx, N.Y., to the late Nicholas and Josephine (Zerbo) DiLorenzo, and had lived in South Bend since 1976, coming from N.Y., and moving to Florida in 1992. Rocco owned Absolute Pest Control and was an active member of the South Bend - Mishawaka and Elkhart Board of Realtors, Tip Club, National Pest Control Association, Apartment Associations, and many more organizations. He enjoyed playing and coaching softball. He coached his daughter's softball teams for several years. Moving to Florida in 1992, he owned Ace Pest Control and was active with Fort Myers - Cape Coral and Naples Board of Realtors, Fort Myers and Naples Apartment Association, Italian - American Club and National Pest Control Association. In 1998, Rocco ran for City Council of Cape Cod. On May 8, 1982, in South Bend, he married Barbara Basham, who he leaves to cherish his memory. Rocco DiLorenzo was the most loving and devoted papa, dad and husband. He cared deeply for his family and friends, and approached life with a lot of humor and integrity. Rocco enriched many lives during his time here and he will be enormously missed. Along with his beloved wife to cherish his memory, he has four loving and devoted daughters, Angela DiLorenzo - Devereux of Fort Myers, Gianna DiLorenzo - Rozzi of Fort Myers, Michele Barrett of South Bend, and Katie Dodson of Mishawaka; three wonderful sons-in-law, Rick Devereux of Fort Myers, John Rozzi of Fort Myers and Ed Dodson of Mishawaka; three terrific grandsons, Ricky Devereux of Fort Myers, Nicholas Rozzi of Fort Myers and Grey Barrett of South Bend. Services were held on Monday December 3, at Harvey-Englehardt Chapel in Fort Myers. Memorial contributions may be made to any Hope Hospice.

Ann P. Helmen
June 13, 1926 - Dec. 13, 2001
Ann Patrice (Patterson) Helmen gave up the good fight on December 13, 2001. Ann was born on June 13, 1926. An extremely gifted pianist, Ann was a member of and soloist for the South Bend Junior Symphony. While at St. Mary's College, she taught piano and pursued her Bachelor of Music degree from Chicago's American Conservatory of Music. Ann graduated from St. Mary's in 1948 and subsequently earned her Master of Science in Administration from the University of Notre Dame. Upon her graduation from St. Mary's, Ann worked as a caseworker for the St. Joseph County Department of Public Welfare until her marriage to Fred Helmen on May 12, 1951. Ann began substitute teaching and worked one-year as a full-time teacher. She was appointed Director of the Circle of Mercy Day Nursery in December of 1972, a job from which she retired in June of 1991. Ann was tireless in her multitude of interests. An active member of her church, St. Patrick's, she also attended yearly conferences for the National Association of the Education of Young People; was on the Executive Board of Community Coordinated Child Care; was a member of the Day Care Directors of Northern Indiana; was an active member of the South Bend Alumnae of St. Mary's College; and was a member of the American Association of University Women. Ann also loved to travel and encounter new adventures. With her quick wit, sense of humor, and easy way, she was a joy to be around. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Dillon J. and Marie A. Patterson. She is survived, and will be dearly missed by her six children, Frederick (Jennifer) of Granger; David (Amy) of South Bend, Thomas (Kimberly) of Michigan City, Gregory (Kathleen) of New Carlisle, Rachel (Charles) Martin of South Bend, Stephen of South Bend; her brother, John (Ruby) Patterson of Granger; and five grandchildren, Frederick, Nina, Caitlin, Anna and Olive. Ann sacrificed much in her life to provide for her family. Whether loading a station wagon with her six children for a trip to Washington D.C., or a week's stay at a Lake Michigan cottage, Ann was determined to give her children the memories and experiences most take for granted. Her devotion and love will be sorely missed. Visitation will be from noon until 3 p.m.today, Dec. 16, at McGann Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison Rd., with a Rosary being prayed at 2:00. The funeral M ass will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 309 S. Taylor, on Monday, December 17, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Miriam J. Keane
May 30, 1927 - Dec. 14, 2001
Miriam J. Keane, 74, of South Bend, Ind., passed away after an illness Friday, Dec. 14, in St. Paul's Retirement Community. She was born May 30, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., to the late Harry and Mildred (Stromberg) Baker. On Sept. 7, 1946, she married Joseph Keane, who died in 1982. She is survived by her loving family of two aunts and 10 cousins. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and attended Clay United Methodist Church. Miriam was a volunteer with Hospice of St. Joseph County. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in the chapel at St. Paul's Retirement Community, 3602 S. Ironwood Road. Also a memorial service will be held in April 2002 in her parent church, Zion United Church of Christ. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.

South Bend, IN— Dorothy Ann "Dee" (Mason) Lincoln, 65, passed away peacefully in Memorial Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today in the McGann Funeral Home, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend, with a memorial scripture service Monday afternoon at 1 p.m., also at McGann's, Scott Ostimer, 2nd Reader of the First Christian Science Church of South Bend, officiating. Dorothy requested no flowers but rather those wishing to may make contributions to either Memorial Health Foundation $KIDS$, 615 North Michigan St, South Bend, IN 46601; or to the American Cancer Society, 535 West Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545 Dorothy "Dee" was born in Flint, Mich., on Nov. 6, 1936. She graduated from Northern High School in 1954 and then graduated from Michigan State University in 1958, earning one of this country's first degrees in "Early Childhood Development". She devoted over 41 years to nurturing and teaching preschool children in South Bend as the co-owner of Woodard Preschool, in Indianapolis at Carmel United Methodist, and again in South Bend at the Happy Day Preschool. Her strong, calm and loving methods have provided guidance for thousands of children and parents through the years. Her nurturing philosophy lives on in the many hearts she has touched. S he will be greatly missed. Surviving are her husband, Pemberton; her three daughters and son, Susan Schmidt Peters and her husband, Kevin of South Bend, Nancy Schmidt Kyme and her husband, John of Virginia, Mary Heather Lincoln of New York City, and Pemberton Hutchinson Lincoln III, and wife, Fawnda of Ohio; four grandchildren, Lisa and Stephen Peters, Andrew and Katharine Kyme; her mother, Mary Mason; and her sister, Beverly Shomsky of Flint; many nieces and nephews; and the love of her life, her Pembrook Welsh Corgi, Sammi. Benjamin J. Marcinkowski
July 19, 1916 - Dec. 13, 2001
Benjamin J. Marcinkowski, 85, of Roosevelt Road, South Bend, died at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in Hospice House. He was born July 19, 1916, in South Bend, and was the son of John and Mary (Nienier) Marcinkowski. Mr. Marcinkowski retired in 1975 from the Bendix Corporation after 40 years of service. On Sept.r 5, 1942, in South Bend, he married Alice Lenczowski, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Karen (Andrew) Zurowski of Mishawaka, Ind., and Susan Hartford of Fresno, Calif.; two sons, Brian (Paula) Marcinkowski of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., and David (Rita) Marcinkowski of Woodridge, Ill.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Karczewski. Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Sylvia Mondich
March 18, 1925 - Dec. 14, 2001
Sylvia Mondich, 76, of N. Hawthorne Drive, South Bend, died after an illness at 3:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14th, in her residence. Sylvia was born in Dowagiac, Mich., on March 18, 1925, to Joseph and Mary (Joe) Siczek. She married John Mondich in Dowagiac on May 18, 1946. He survives. Surviving besides her husband John of fifty-five years are a son, James (Shawna) Mondich of Edwardsburg, Mich.; two daughters, Jean (Gregory) Nugent of Columbia, Tenn., and Marcia (Red) Kiner of Freeport, Fla.; a brother, Alex Siczek of Dowagiac; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Kiner) Conners and her husband, David, Chris Murphy, Tina Murphy, Megan, Ryan, Rebecca and Jonathan Mondich; and one great-grandchild, Brian Connors. Mrs. Mondich was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, John Siczek. She has gone home to celebrate the father's birthday. She was a member of the P.N.A. and St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. In memory of Sylvia, may her spirit comfort her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation. Bubb Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph County Hospice or to the donor's favorite charity.

Raymond F. Paczesny
Nov. 20, 1915 - Dec. 14, 2001
Raymond F. Paczesny, 86, was born on Nov. 20, 1915, in South Bend, Ind., to the late Frank and Magdalene (Niezgodski) Paczesny. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ann Marie Bats-leer, who died in November 1988; his brother, Al Page; and by his two sisters, Ruth Michelson and Delphene Colwell. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Paczesny Delahanty and Edward L. Delahanty of Naples, Fla.; a daughter, Diane Paczesny Holman of Cathedral City, Calif.; six grandchildren, David Delahanty of Edina, Minn., Debra Delahanty of Orlando, Fla., Paul Holman III, John Holman, Felicity Holman of California, and Joe Holman of Japan; and eight great-grandchildren, including Avery and Finnigan Delahanty of Minnesota. Mr. Paczesny graduated from Central High School and attended classes on the South Bend campus of Indiana University as well as Forever Learning and Battel. He worked for 42 years at Bendix, from 1938-1980. Mr. Paczesny was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the 88th Infantry Division, serving from July 16, 1945, to June 6, 1946. He was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church, South Bend, a member of the Indiana Alumni Association, the Moose Lodge #58, Hoosiers Legionnaire, the American Legion Pulaski Post #357, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Bendix Senior Management Club. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 16, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish vigil service will take place at 4 p.m. A M ass of Christian B urial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec.17, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3526 St. John's Way, South Bend, with entombment to follow at Highland Cemetery. Ethel Pica

Ethel Pica, 93, formerly of Huron Street, South Bend, Ind., and Hamilton Community, THE Pointe, New Carlisle, Ind., died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, in Memor-ial Hospital. She was born Oct, 10, 1908, in Chica-go, and had lived here since 1939, coming from Benton Harbor, Mich. Mrs. Pica was a homemaker and mother. On May 2, 1928, in Chicago, as Ethel Wilk, she married Peter A. Pica, who preceded her in death in 1966. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Aniela (Biala) Wilk; a brother, Edward Wilk; and a sister, Lillian Kajune. Surviving Mrs. Pica are two daughters, Carolyn (Brent) Banulis of Boston, Mass., and Jacqueline (Walter) Schimmel of Daytona Beach, Fla.; two sons, Tony (Jane) Pica and Peter (Bonnie) Pica, both of South Bend; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Mierkiewicz of Chicago. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Holy Family Catholic Church where friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service in the church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church. St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road,. is handling arrangements.
