ALEXANDER FLOCK, 100, Ramsey, died Sunday, May 2, at Indian Creek Health and Rehabilitation Center in Corydon. She was a retired dairy farmer and a member of Unity Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Boyd G. Flock of New Salisbury and Dale M. Flock of Ramsey; a brother, Caras C. Alexander of Corydon; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Friday, May 7, at Swarens Funeral Home in Ramsey with burial in Woods Chapel Cemetery in Ramsey. WALTER G. ZIEMBA, 85, Scottsburg, died Sunday, May 2, in Scottsburg. He was a native of Cannonsburg, Pa., and a retired welder for Palmer-Ball in Louisville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Evangelical Christian Church in Louisville and attended Vienna Baptist Church in Scottsburg. Survivors include his former wife, Ruth Ziemba; a son, James Ziemba of Scottsburg; a stepson, Doyle Durrett of Florida; two stepdaughters, Deborah Adkins of Mt. Washington, Kentucky, and Linda Cotton of Borden; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 5, at Stewart Funeral Home with burial in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. SHERRY SUE (REDFORD) FAULKENBERG, 57, Borden, died Thursday, May 6, at her home. She was a member of Atkins Chapel United Methodist Church in Floyds Knobs. Survivors include her children, Kelly Andres, Shelly Redford, Loretta Fulkerson, Leon Faulkenburg and Troy Faulkenburg; her mother, Mildred L. He was a native of New Middletown and a retired teacher, principal and superintendent at Lanesville Community School Corp. He was a member of the South Harrison School Board and the Harrison County Hospital Foundation Board and past president of Day Spring-Emmaus. He was a past chairman of the Harrison County Community Foundation Board, the present chairman of the Grant Committee and a member of the Executive Committee. BACK, 84, Salem, died Monday, May 3, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. A native of Blacky, Kentucky, he was a retired employee of Haas Cabinet Company in Sellersburg. He served during World War II as a Tech 4 in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Salem American Legion Cecil Grimes Post #41 and the Salem V.F.W. Post. Survivors include two daughters, Yvonne Green of Salem and Evelyn Axsom of Campbellsburg; two sons, Larry G. Back of Booneville and Gary L. Back of Livonia; a sister, Stella Gray of Hanover; a brother, Paul Back of Middletown, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. GARRIOTT, 81, Salem, died Tuesday, May 4, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Canton Christian Church. He was a retired employee of Morgan Foods Inc. in Austin. He also worked for the old Keenans Radiator Shop in Scottsburg. He attended First Christian Church in Scottsburg and was a member of Scottsburgh Lodge #120 F&AM. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jean Godsave; a daughter, Luann Harsin of Scottsburg; a brother-in-law, Bob Huckleberry of Little York; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 5, at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. THELMA ANN MYERS, 69, Livonia, died Tuesday, May 4, at her home. She was an associate broker for Key Real Estate in Salem and member of Hardinsburg Christian Church and Moose Lodge Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 8, at Ransdell Funeral Home. EVERETT NOLAN, 75, Salem, died Friday, May 7, at Bacala Nursing Center in Scottsburg. He was a native of Sunfish, Kentucky, a farmer, and co-owner of the old Nolan’s Hardware Store in Salem. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church near Salem and the Salem V.F.W. Post #6636. He served during the Korean War as a Private 1st Class in the U.S. Army and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, Donna J. (Stoner) Nolan; a daughter, Shirley Ann Nolan of Salem; a son, Marvin Lee Nolan of Vallonia; three brothers, Arville A. Nolan of Seymour, William F. Nolan of New Albany and Tony W. Nolan Jr. of Leesburg, Florida; a sister, Dolly Mae Edwards of Westfield; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. DAVIS, 68, Scottsburg, died on Tuesday, April 27, at his home. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he was born in Columbus and had been a resident of Washington and Scott counties since 1996. He worked 43 years for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus, retiring in 2002. Memberships include St. Johns Lodge 20, F&AM, in Columbus and the Diesel Workers Union. Survivors include two stepsons, Harold L. Proffitt II of Louisville, Ky., and Kenneth L. Proffitt of Shepherdsville, Ky.; six stepdaughters, Penni Waddell and Traci Proffitt, both of Louisville, Rhonda Fowler of Taylorsville, Chrystal Baker of Elizabethtown, Ky., Adrianne Dunkin of Indianapolis and Christy of California; two sisters, Louise Davis and Linda Mitchell, both of Columbus; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation at the Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg was observed from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 30. Today (Saturday), visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until the funeral service at 11 a.m. the Rev. Douglas Wallace will officiate. Burial will be in Little York Cemetery following full military honors at the graveside. WILLIAM R. CONOVER, 74, Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, April 27, at Select Specialty Hospital of Fort Wayne. A Shelby County native, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a 32-year employee of Phelps-Dodge Corporation, from which he retired in 1994. Memberships included Moose Lodge 1480 and American Legion Post 82. Survivors include three sons, Dennis J. Myers and Jeffery L. Malone, both of Fort Wayne, and John A. Myers of Redding, Ca.; three daughters, Trudy Tigner, Sandra K. Imel and Beth A. Myers, all of Fort Wayne; a brother, Paul E. Conover of Fort Wayne; three sisters, Margie E. Hamilton of Lawrenceville, Il., Mary Fox of Madison and Bonnie Albertson of Scottsburg; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A resident of Scott County most of his life, he was born in Seymour and was a self-employed carpenter, working in residential construction and remodeling. STANLEY, 64, Austin, died on Wednesday, April 21, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Louisville, Ky. Born in Scott County, he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and an automobile salesman. Memberships included Shriners, Masonic Lodge 120, F&AM, and Scott County Moose Family Center and Lodge 2324. He had been honored as a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include two brothers, Jesse Stanley and Morris Stanley, both of Austin. The funeral was conducted on Saturday, April 24, at the Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin. Burial was in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison. MATTHEW LEWIS LINDENMAYER, 13, Lexington, died on Thursday, April 22, at his home. He was born in Louisville, Ky., and was a student at Scottsburg Middle School. He was a member of Lexington Presbyterian Church. JOHN MONTGOMERY HARDGROVE, 77, Nancy, Ky., died on Sunday, April 18, at his home. He was born in Somerset, Ky., and was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired carpenter for Morgan’s Construction in Austin. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1083 of Crothersville and Scottsburg Church of God. Survivors include his wife, the former Jewell Malott; a son, John Hardgrove Jr. of Scottsburg; a brother, Bernard Hardgrove of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Josephine Lewis of Dayton, Ohio, Nora Jasper Ferguson of Somerset and Irene Winchester of Scottsburg; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. GLADYS FAY DAILY, 85, Peoria, Az., died on Friday, April 2 at Good Shepard Care Center, where she had resided since 1998. She was born in Scottsburg and she and her late husband, John “Jasper” Daily, moved to Arizona in 1962. She was the retired manager of the former Florence Senior Citizens Nutritional Center in Florence, Az., and was a volunteer at the Pinal County Historical Museum there. She was also a volunteer of the Pinal County Visitors Center and was honored as Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year in 1993 by the Florence Silver Streakers Association. She was the 1994 recipient of both the Harry Holland Community Service Award presented by the Arizona Council for Senior Citizens and the Community Service Award presented by Central Arizona College. She was a former chairman of the Florence Kiwanis Club Special Olympics Committee. Survivors include two sons, Marvin Eugene Daily of London, England, and Robert “Bob” Daily of Harrisonburg, Va.; three daughters, Helen Gillette and Janet Cochran, both of Phoenix, Az., and Evelyn Tatlock of Florence; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
