NEAL HENDRICH, 80, Palmyra, died Sunday, February 6, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Central Barren, the VFW and American Legion, both in New Albany, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was also owner and operator of Neal Hendrich Auto Body Shop in Palmyra. He is survived by his wife, the former Irene Hampton; a son, Eddie Hendrich of Palmyra; a brother, Eugene Hendrich of New Salisbury; and a sister, Patricia Hendrich of Louisville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services were held on Thursday, February 10, at Love Funeral Home, with burial in Central Barren Cemetery. SUE (GARVEY) CHAPMAN, Hammond, died Friday, February 4. She was a native of Clarksville, a member of Southside Christian Church in Munster, and was employed at the Family Christian Store in South Holland. She is survived by her husband, Dan; a son, Dave Chapman of North Carolina; a daughter, Rebecca Kayser of New York, NY; four grandchildren; her mother, Thelma Garvey of Clarksville; a brother, Gene Garvey of Floyds Knobs; and two nieces, Wendy Keenan and Nancy Garvey. Services were held on Monday, February 7, at Southside Christian Church, with arrangements by Chapman Funeral Home. Her body was donated for medical research. KIDDER, 83, Corydon, died Saturday, February 5, at VA Medical Center in Louisville. He was a member of Lanesville United Methodist Church, a retired Air Force veteran, and a trust officer for the old Citizens Fidelity Bank in Louisville. He is survived by six sons, Steven Kidder of Fort Collins, Col., Thomas Hester of Oconomowoc, Wis., James Hester of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Terence Hester of Louisville, and Dale and Joseph Kidder, both of Corydon; two daughters, Sharon Fulk of Spencer, and Debbie Grimes of Fort Wayne; a brother, Frank Kidder of Portersville, Cal.; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. NOLENA ROTHROCK BOWLES, 93, Milltown, died Monday, February 7, at Harrison Health and Rehabilitation Center in Corydon. A native of Depauw, she was a homemaker, and a member of Thompson Chapel United Methodist Church in Depauw. She is survived by a son, Loran Bowles of Milltown; four daughters, Ruth Williams of Corydon, Rozella North of Floyds Knobs, Alice Combs of New Salisbury, and Dorothy Booth of Milltown; a brother, Robert L Rothrock of Colorado Springs, Col.; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. PICKERILL, 75, New Albany, died Sunday, February 6, at Wedgewood Health Care in Clarksville. He was a native of Louisville, and a retired 35-year employee of General Electric Company. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Church of Christ in Sellersburg. He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth E. Voyles; four sons, Ken Pickerill of Corydon, Brian Pickerill of Muncie; Loren Pickerill of Memphis, and David Pickerill of New Albany; one daughter, Lisa Vanover of Sellersburg; one brother, George Pickerill of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Mary Rose Abbott of Salem; and seven grandchildren. RANEY, 92, Henryville, died Monday, February 7, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was a native of Louisville, a resident of Sellersburg Health & Rehabilitation, a retired bookkeeper for the Sefton Company in Clarksville, a former member of the Christian Church, and a member of Clarks County No. 181 Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne McReynolds; a granddaughter, Carla, A. Amburgey; and a great-granddaughter, Ericka Jeanne Metcalf; all of Henryville. Barry DeWitt officiating, with private interment at the family’s convenience in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville. MARSHALL HICE "MOSE" RICHEY, 79, Jeffersonville, died Sunday, February 6, at Clark Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Leota, a retired truck driver for Mason-Dixon, a member of Teamsters Local No. 89, a lifetime member of VFW in Jeffersonville, of the American Legion No. 35 in Jeffersonville, American Legion No. 335 in Charlestown, of the Masonic Lodge No. 572 in Scottsburg, Shrine in Indianapolis, the FOP, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was also a veteran of World War II, a member of Merills Marauders, and received both the purple heart and the bronze star. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Hayes Richey of Jeffersonville; a son, Scott Richey; three daughters, Donna Elder of Charlestown, Marsha Davis of Jeffersonville, and Carla Lozier of Greenville; a brother, Marvin L. Richey of Austin; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a very close family friend, Robin Bomar of Jeffersonville. CLARK WILFRED WERNER, 84, veterinarian of Charlestown, , died Wednesday, February 9, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville. He was a native of Charlestown, a graduate of Charlestown High School, and Ohio State University. He was a former Board Member of Clark County 4H, Clark Memorial Hospital, and Indiana Veterinarian Association, a member of the American Veterinarian Medical Association, the First United Methodist Church in Charlestown, a 50-year member of the Blazing Star Masonic Lodge No. 226, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, Shriners, Charlestown Lions Club, VFW, American Legion, and was a veteran of the Army where he served as a Captain. He was given the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Mayor of Charlestown and the Sagamore of the Wabash Award by the Governor of Indiana. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Werner; four daughters, Sharon Herndon of New Albany, Pamela Freeman of Bloomington, Alice Webb of Jeffersonville, and Ann McAlexander of Charlestown; six step-daughters, Lola Weir of Charleston, WV., Alice Weir of Boulder Colo., Sharon Kopp of Jeffersonville, Sue Ann Burns of Ormond Beach, Fla., Alice Garrett of Sellersburg, and Marie Sexton of Henryville; one brother, Delyn Werner of Sunnyvale, Cal.; one sister, Catherine Klinge of Pasadena, Cal.; seven grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; great grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and foster grandchildren. BERNARD SIZEMORE, 79, Hardinsburg, died Wednesday, February 9, at his home. He was a native of Clay County, Kentucky, a member of Flat Creek Church of the Brethren in Flat Creek, Ky., and attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Hardinsburg. He served in the U.S. Navy and fought in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a retired employee of Cissell Manufacturing Company in Louisville, and was a self-employed farmer. He is survived by his wife, Doshia Mae Griffitts Sizemore; five children, Lola Tincher of Martinsville, Larry Sizemore of Salem, Wilma Voyles of Salem, William Fred Sizemore of Paoli, and Terry Sizemore of Hardinsburg; four brothers, Roland Collett of Richmond, Butler Sizemore of Milltown, Elmer Ray Sizemore of Palmyra, and Oliver Sizemore of Salem; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. IRENE LEGG, 74, Salem, formerly of Louisville, died Saturday, February 5, at Meadow View Nursing Home in Salem. She was a Baptist by faith. MARTHA "MARTI" PEARL GILL, 79, Salem, died Wednesday, February 9, at Washington County Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Lily, Ky., a homemaker, and a member of Mount Hebron Church. She is survived by two sons; Daniel H. Gill of Seymour, and Scott G. Gill of Salem; two daughters, Sue Corey and Debbi Hayes, both of Salem; two sisters, Ruby Gill of Danville, Ind., and Alma Snow of Noblesville; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. He was a native of Corbin, Ky., a retired machinist from L&N/CSX Railroad, an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of VFW Post 1693, and was a Kentucky Colonel. ERNIE BYERLEY, 80, Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, February 9, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. He was retired from General Auto Company in New Albany, an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg. He is survived by his wife, the former Louise Zink; a son, Wayne Byerley of Hardinsburg; a brother, Brenton Dale Byerley of Crandall; two sisters, Thelma Taylor and Gayle Deputy, both of Crandall; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Services were held on Saturday, February 12, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra, with burial in Horners Chapel Cemetery. GLEN I. FLEENOR, 76, Hardinsburg, died Friday, February 11. Services were held on Monday, February 14, with arrangements by Love Funeral Home in Palmyra. JOSEPHINE F. SCHAFER, 85, Scottsburg, died on Wednesday, February 9. A homemaker, she was born in Charlestown and was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Scottsburg and the Plymouth and Greenbriar Homemakers Clubs. She was a former member of her church’s Altar Society and a former Democrat Party Precinct Vice-Chairwoman. Survivors include three sons, David C. Schafer of Scottsburg, Bernard Stephen Schafer of Columbus and Paul W. Schafer of Dallas, Tx.; five daughters, Martha J. Corn of Washington, Mary “Joanie” Hess of Blytheville, Ar., Nancy J. Skelton of Gibson, N.C., Cathy S. Rowe of Noblesville and Florence E. Regan of Hudson, Ohio; a brother, Ignatius Gelhaus of Lady Lake, Fl.; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A rosary service was held at the Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg on Friday evening, February 11. The funeral mass was conducted on Saturday, February 12, at her church. The Rev. Father Thomas Schliessmann officiated. Burial was in Scottsburg Cemetery. THE REV. CHARLES COLEMAN HEDGSPETH SR., 70, Austin, died on Sunday, February 6, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Hart County, Ky., and was a member of Fourth Street Church of God in Austin, where he served as pastor since 1965. He had also been a heavy equipment operator, working out of Local 181 in Henderson, Ky., and he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, the former Velva L. Fisher; a son, Charles C. Hedgspeth of Austin; two daughters, Tangie M. Crusott of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Mary L. Decker of Scottsburg; a brother, Donald Ray Hedgspeth of Shepherdsville, Ky.; two sisters, Marie Martindale of Tipp City, Ohio, and Wanda Groomer of Bloomfield; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted on Friday, February 11, at the Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg. The Rev. David Simpson and the Rev. Steve Gwaltney officiated. Burial was in New Providence Cemetery near Austin following full military honors. MILDRED A. RANEY, 92, Henryville, died on Monday, February 7, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky. She was born in Louisville and was a retired bookkeeper for the old Sefton Company in Clarksville. She was a former member of the Christian Church and was a member of Clark County Post 181, Fraternal Order of Police ladies’ auxiliary. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanne McReynolds of Henryville; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter. The funeral service was conducted on Friday, February 11, at R.D. KELSO "KELLY" LEE HALL, 73, Shreveport, La., died on Saturday, January 29, there. A retired Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, he was raised near Little York and served over 20 years in the armed forces. He was awarded several service medals and awards during that time. Memberships included NCOA, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include five sons, Bobby Hall, Lester Hall, Ronald Temple, Kelly Carney and Terry Edmonds; six daughters, Mary Logan, Julann Carney, Julie Gibson, Mitzi Odom, Tanna Quackenbush and Danell Knott; a brother, Loren Hall; two sisters, Thelma Mount and Doris Skinner; 31 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. FRYFOGLE, 73, Scottsburg, died on Monday, February 7. She was a Scottsburg native and earned her GED by attending classes at the LifeLong Learning Center in Scottsburg. She was a retired employee in the retail clothing business with Ames in Randallstown, Md. A member of Scottsburg First Christian Church, she attended Fairview Christian Church near Underwood. Survivors include four sons, Max V. Richey Jr. of Lexington, Steven M. Richey of Winslow, Az., William R. Fryfogle of Scottsburg and Michael W. Fryfogle of Baltimore, Md.; five daughters, Vickey M. Tucker of Shelbyville, Lelani L. Ellis of Fernadina Beach, Fl., Robin L. Kramph of Caseyville, Il., Barbara J. Neiswender of Scottsburg and Betty Roth of Baltimore; three sisters, Margarette Thorpe of Smithville, N.C., Ruth Mithcell of Salem and Diane Hulsart of Scottsburg; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. THOMAS MONROE "JACK" BRADLEY, 83, Chillicothe, Ohio, died on Wednesday, January 26, at Adena Hospital in Chillicothe. A retired cabinet maker and millwright who was born in New Haven, Ky., he was formerly of Austin. He had been a member of the board of directors for the Hillsboro County, Fl., Little League Association and was also involved with the Cincinnati Reds Spring Training Camp in Plant City, Fl., and been an umpire for the Hillsboro County Little League. He had served as a disaster shelter manager and had been a member of the board of directors for Camelot-by-the-Sea in St. Petersburg, Fl., the Parent-Teacher Association in Hillsboro County and that county’s Civic Association. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Episcopal Church in Clairmal, Fl. Survivors include his wife, the former Marie Payne; two sons, Joseph Lewis Bradley of Ringgold, Ga., and LeRoy Thomas Bradley of Brandon, Fl.; a daughter, LaVita Marie Bradley Potter of Cape Coral, Fl.; two sisters, Nancy Williams of Bardstown, Ky., and Ann Clouse of Seymour; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. SIZEMORE, 59, Austin, died on Monday, January 31, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born in Perry County, Ky. Survivors include his wife, Veneta Loy Sizemore; his mother, Polly White Baker of Krypton, Ky.; five brothers, Charlie Baker of Busy, Ky., Allen Baker, Doug Baker and Michael Baker, all of Hazard, Ky., and Marvin Baker of Buckhorn, Ky.; three sisters, Wanda Williams of Ezel, Ky., Darlene Baker of Hazard and Lillie Mae Stidham of Krypton; and a stepbrother, Paul Baker of Krypton. WILLIE WOODROW SMITH, 85, Clarksville, died Thursday, February 10, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville. He was a native of Macon County, Tenn., an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, a retired contractor, and a long-time employee of the Indianapolis Speedway. He was also a member of Mooresville Church of God. He is survived by his children, Sylvia Irene Griggs of Indianapolis, Willie R. Smith of Greenville, Rickie Ross Smith of Raleigh, NC, and Cyndi Rose McHolland of Clarksville; two brothers, the Rev. Henry Smith and the Rev. ALLEN, 76, Georgetown, died Wednesday, February 9, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was a reired baker for Georgetown Elementary School, and a member of Georgetown Christian Church. She is survived by a son, Donald Allen of Georgetown; a daughter, Judy A. Lanham of Indianapolis; a sister, Luella Goldsmith of New Albany; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was a native of Seymour, a homemaker, an expert seamstress, and also knitted extensively for friends, family, and the Interfaith Council. She was also an avid golfer at both Wooded View and Speed Golf Club, where she was a member of the “Hole-in-One Club.” She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and a member of the Missionary League and Esther Circle at her church. She is survived by her husband, Delbert E. Bishop; three sons, Mark E. and Matt D. Bishop, both of New Albany, and Tom J. Bishop of Lanesville; a daughter, Cherie Scott of New Albany; five granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. OSCAR VOELKER, 85, Lanesville, died Friday, February 11, at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany. He was an Air Force veteran, a farmer, served as the Harrison County soil and water conservation officer, an air traffic controller, and was a Century 21 real estate agent. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church, the Lanesville Aero Club, Corydon Rotary Club, and was a founding member of the Harrison County Park Board. He is survived by his sister, Norma Blank of Lanesville; two brothers, Martin Voelker of Lanesville, and Donald Voelker of New Haven; two daughters, Carolyn Voelker of Lanesville, and Linda Hill of Platte City, Mo.; four sons, Kenneth of Bloomingdale, Ill., Robert of Clarksville, and Dennis and Darrell, both of Lanesville; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
