KEITH RUDOLPH, 82, Lanesville, died Monday, March 24, at his home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World Warr II and retired from Armour Packing Company in Louisville. Survivors include a son, Tony Rudolph of Lanesville; two daughters, Regeina Hollowell of Georgetown and Pamela Schoen of Lanesville; two brothers, Arthur Rudolph of New Albany and Cecil Rudolph of Fredericksburg; a sister, Bessie Jones of New Albany; his companion, Eleanor Laun of Louisville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 27, at 2 p.m. at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra with burial in Palmyra Cemetery.

LEONARD NELSON HICKMAN, 91, New Albany, died Monday, March 24, at his home. He was retired from L. Hartman & Sons, was a lumber inspector for 24 years, and was a member of Cherry Street Church of Christ. Survivors include five daughters, R. Elaine Owen of Greenville, Cynthia Ellen Shannon of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Phyllis Ann Tucker of New Albany, and Donna Jean Harper and Helen Lea Hickman, both of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 28, at Cherry Street Church of Christ in New Albany with burial in Graceland Memorial Park. CORA M. NOLAND, 86, Salem, died Monday, March 24, at Meadow View Health Care Center in Salem. She was a native of Irvine, Kentucky and a homemaker. Survivors include four sons, Forest D. Noland of Louisville, Jessie T. Noland and Billy Noland, both of Pekin, and Jimmy Scrivner of Irvine, Kentucky; four daughters, Anna Mae Barrett of Ft. Myers, Florida, and Molenda Pennington, Judy Thompson and Nancy Purlee, all of Salem; two sisters, Dorothy Boain and Elsie Kirby, both of Irvine, Kentucky; 26 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 27, at Dawalt Funeral Home with burial in Bunker Hill Cemetery.

JOE GREENE CONLEY, M.D., 62, Greenville, died on Sunday, March 23, while on vacation in Destin, Florida. He was a radiation oncologist practicing in Southern Indiana and Louisville. He was a medical partner with Birkhead, Conley, Eckman and Sharf, PSC, and worked through Baptist Hospital East and Kindred Radiation Centers. He graduated from Sandy Hook High School, Morehead State University and the University of Louisville Medical School and specialized in cancer treatment. He was a member of the Valhalla and Valley View golf clubs in Louisville and Floyds Knobs, served as president of the American Cancer Society in Indiana and was a member of the Pendennis Club in Louisville. Survivors include his mother, Elaine Greene Conley of Sandy Hook, Kentucky; four sons, Carson Phillip Conley and Cooper Thrasher Conley, both of Greenville, Joe Greene Conley II of Princeton, NJ, and Richard Cody Conley of Louisville; a daughter, Trina Joe Conley of California; two brothers, Galen W. Conley, DMD, and Brent Conley, both of Sandy Hook; and two sisters, Carole Binion of Sandy Hook and Janie Mustari of Sarasota, Florida. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 28, at Generations’ Chapel with burial in Elliot County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook. ANN ELIZABETH LONGEST, 76, Sellersburg, died Monday, March 24, at her home. She was the former Ann Knable and a member of Stony Point Christian Church. JUNE FROMAN, 68, New Albany, died Wednesday, March 26, at Clark Memorial Hospital. She was a chef at Mike’s Tavern in Floyds Knobs and a member of the Floyd County Post #3281 VFW Auxiliary in New Albany. Survivors include eight children, Steven Froman, Sarah Nunez, James Lee, David Travis, Dana Travis, Theodore R. Lee, William Froman and Joseph Gilliam; two brothers, Louis and Donald Travis; 22 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 29, at the Kraft Chapel. KENNETH J. BANET, 79, Floyds Knobs, died Thursday, March 27, at his home. He was a native of Floyd County, a member of the VFW Hobart Beach post #1693 and St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Church. LYNN G. JACKSON, 79, Scottsburg, died Friday, March 28. He was a retired farmer and a World War II Army veteran, having earned the rank of corporal. He was a life-member of Little York Christian Church, having served there as an elder, a deacon and a board member. He was a member of Scott County Scottish Rite, Scottish Rite of Indianapolis, American Legion Mount-Wilson Post #473, Little York Masonic Lodge F&AM #512 and Indiana Farm Bureau and a former councilman and Scott County commissioner. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn (Nichols) Jackson; five daughters, Marilyn Crane and Peggy Hill, both of Scottsburg, Linda Hunley of Austin, Diane Smith of Pekin and Patricia Nicholson of Salem; two brothers, his twin, Lee Jackson of Little York and Harry Jackson of Scottsburg; a sister, Ruth Mosley of Scottsburg; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. LARRY LEE BROUGH, 63, Salem, died Friday, March 28, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. SHELBY NASH, 66, New Salisbury, died Sunday, March 30, at his home. A native of Butler County, Kentucky, he was a retired self-employed contractor, a former employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp., a former member of the Old Coon Hunters Club and attended New Salisbury Church of God of Prophecy. PAULINE MARKER, 71, Campbellsburg, died Saturday, March 29, at University Hospital in Louisville. She was a native of Kentucky and a member of Salem Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Gerald Marker; a son, Ronald Marker of Pekin; a daughter, Sharon Allen of Campbellsburg; two brothers, Oscar Green Jr. of Salem and Bill Green of Texas; a sister, Loretta Lewis of Salem; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at Weathers Funeral Home. The body will be cremated.

BEN DOLPHUS LEDBETTER SR., 82, Charlestown, died Tuesday, March 25, at the Medical Center of Southern Indiana. A native of Livingston, Tenn., he was a retired local representative for Public Service of Indiana, a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, past president of the Charlestown Lions Club, past member of the Knights of Columbus, and a 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He had served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was an accomplished musician, having performed at The Sports Club in Louisville. Survivors include his wife, the former Mary Agnita O’Bryan; six sons, Larry E. Ledbetter of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Charles E. Ledbetter of Charlestown, Thomas W. Ledbetter of Pembroke Pines, Florida, Ben D. Ledbetter Jr. of Charlestown, Joseph F. Ledbetter of Sellersburg and James L. Ledbetter of Otisco; two daughters, Gretchen M. Ledbetter of Sellersburg and Benita A. Fischer of Charlestown; two brothers, Walter and Chet Ledbetter, both of New Albany; two sisters, Ruby Wall and his twin, Betty Green, both of New Albany; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. NORMA D. BOWLING, 42, Salem, died Friday, March 28, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. She was a native of Washington County and an employee of Deaton’s Manufacturing in Salem. Survivors include two sons, Jason and Justin Bowling, both of Salem; her father and step-mother, Maynard and Doris Bowling of Brownstown; her mother, Betty Thacker of Salem; her grandmother, Ronea Collier of Salem; two brothers, Eugene and Michael Bowling, both of Salem; a half-brother, Mike Bowling of Mitchell; four sisters, Debbie Cole and Tammy Bowling, both of Salem, and Vicky VanArsdale and Karen Mangum, both of Indianapolis; and a half-sister, Lori Bowling of Seymour. AMOS FUGATE, 63, Austin, died on Monday, March 24, at his home. Born in Butterfly, Ky., he had lived in Austin since 1950 and then moved to the Hanover area, where he lived for the past two years. He retired from Arvin Automotive in 1989 after 19 years and had also worked for Morgan Foods Inc. in Austin for nine years. He attended the Chelsea Church of God. Survivors include his widow, the former Janice Wynn; a son, Stacy Lynn Fugate of Lexington; three daughters, Darlene Jent, Deloris Fluhr and Annette Owens, all of Austin; six stepsons, John Smith of Scottsburg, Carl Smith of Georgetown, Clayton Smith of Austin and James Cox Jr., Jerry Cox and Terry Cox, all of Hanover; five stepdaughters, Ruth West of Deputy, Rhonda Winchester of Austin, Judy Morris of Scottsburg, Shirley Smithers of Hanover and Susan Sullivan of Madison; three sisters, Eva Eversole of Austin, and Barbara Baker and Nella Johnson, both of Hazard, Ky.; 34 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted on Thursday, March 27, at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home in Madison. The Rev. Terry D. Eversole officiated. Burial was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Austin. MAX M. MORRIS, 89, Scottsburg, died on Monday, March 24, at Scott Villa Living Center, where he had been residing. A retired employee of the old American Can Company in Austin, he served as director of maintenance for that firm. He was a member of the Austin United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a Past Master of Masonic Lodge 120, F&AM, in Austin, was a Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star Chapter in Austin and was a member of the Indianapolis Valley, Scottish Rite. Survivors include a sister, Mary Ruth Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. The funeral was conducted on Thursday, March 27, at the Buchanan Funeral Home in Austin. The Rev. Ed Mead officiated. Cremation was requested. A private burial will take place at a later date at Scaffold Lick Cemetery near Blocher. JOYCE CISSELL CRICK, 65, Henryville, died on Sunday, March 23, at the Medical Center of Southern Indiana in Charlestown. Born in Lawrenceburg, she was a homemaker and a member of Beacon Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Jeffrey Crick; three sons, Ricky Cissell of Las Cruces, N.M., Bobby Cissell of Hodgenville, Ky., and Donnie “Duck” Cissell of Henryville; four daughters, Kathy Branham of Jeffersonville, Debbie Fortney of Lexington and Tammy Packler and Vickie Cissell, both of Henryville; two brothers, Danny Snelling of Scottsburg and Lanny Snelling of Henryville; four sisters, Barbara Walls of Seymour and Jennie Gardner, Ruth Brooks and Marie Sexton, all of Henryville; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. PATRICIA HALL JAMES, 68, Seymour, died on Sunday, March 23, in Beech Grove. She was born in Boston, Ma., and was an Indiana resident most of her life. She was a retired employee of the old U.S. Shoe Corporation in Crothersville. Memberships included the Church of the American Martyrs in Scottsburg and American Legion Post 89 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 ladies’ auxiliary, both in Seymour. Survivors include a son, Sgt. Wayne Hall with the U.S. Air Force in Voorhies, N.J.; two daughters, Sandy Peacock of Deputy and Sherry May of Beech Grove; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. The funeral was conducted on Thursday, March 27, at her church. The Rev. Father Thomas L. Schliessmann officiated. Burial was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Austin. Staff of the Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg was in charge of arrangements.

MORRIS L. CARDINAL, 78, Huntingburg, died on Sunday, March 23, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. A native of Vincennes, he had formerly lived in Henryville and was a retired Teamsters truck driver. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. Survivors include a son, David Cardinal of Nashville; two daughters, Dorothy Hautsch of Jasper and Brenda Seitz of Huntingburg; four brothers, Dale Cardinal, Richard Cardinal and Dexter Cardinal, all of Huntingburg, and Joe Cardinal of Henderson, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A parish rosary service was held at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg on Wednesday, March 26. The funeral was conducted on Thursday, March 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery there.

CECELIA W. McDANIEL, 72, Crothersville, died on Friday, March 21, at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg. A resident of Crothersville for the past year, she was born in Ohio and had formerly lived in New Orleans, La., Milton, Ky., and Scottsburg. She was a retired New Orleans taxi owner and driver and a member of First Baptist Church in Milton. Survivors include three sons, John Zierhut of Crothersville, Bruce Zierhut Sr. of Francisville, La., and James Johnson of Crothersville’ four daughters, Linda Z. Ryan of Metairie, La., Debbie Z. Billiot of Henderson, Tx., Stephanie Hamelman of Crothersville and Paula Ryan of Mandeville, La.; a brother, Arthur Westrem of Ohio; a sister, Joyce Hart of Illinois; and six grandchildren. The funeral was conducted on Tuesday, March 25, at the Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville. The Rev. Ferril Davis officiated. A graveside service following cremation was conducted on Wednesday, March 26, at Mossett Cemetery in Milton. U.S. NAVY ENSIGN JASON ALLEN PROFITT, 22, Norfolk, Va., died on Monday, March 17, while on duty in the Red Sea. He was a native of Scottsburg. Survivors include his widow, the former Rita Goedeker; a son, Jason A. Profitt Jr. of Norfolk; two daughters, Karen Profitt and Jasmine Profitt, both of Norfolk; his parents, Allen Johnson of Scottsburg, Sheila Profitt of Scottsburg and stepfather Rusty Profitt of Charlestown; three brothers, Travis Profitt and Sean Profitt, both of Charlestown, and Kyle Johnson of Holly Springs, N.C.; his grandparents, Lawrence “Pete” Johnson and Ruthie Thomas, both of Scottsburg, Alberta Hollon of Austin, Marcus Campbell of Stanton, Ky., and Don and Mary Profitt of New Albany; and his great-grandmother, Bessie Tracy of Scottsburg. RAYMOND M. THOMPSON, 87, Crothersville, died on Saturday, March 22. A native of Hodgensville, Ky., he was a retired filling station owner, having operated the Chevron in Seymour. He was also a former Yellow Cab driver in Louisville, Ky. He attended the Crothersville United Methodist Church. Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Puckett of Clarksville, Susan Murphy of Crothersville, Ann Dickerson of Westerville, Ohio, and Jackie Walker of Seymour; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. JEAN E. CRITTENDON, 47, Haddix, Ky., died on Friday, March 21, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky. Formerly of Jackson, Ky., she was a homemaker. Survivors include a son, Tommy Crittendon of Jackson; a daughter, Debra Crittendon of Jackson; three sisters, Debra Bishop of Scottsburg, Barbara Holland of Florida and Wilma Davis of Hope, Ky.; and a grandson. A private funeral and burial were conducted. Staff of R.D. Pyke Funeral Service in Henryville was in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM "TED" OAKLEY, 49, West Baden, died on Thursday, March 20, at his home. Born in Salem, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a graduate of ITT drafting school in Louisville. He was employed as a truck driver. Survivors include a son, Brandon Oakley of Greenwood, S.C.; a daughter, Heather Harvley of Greenwood, S.C.; his mother, Betty Jean Oakley of West Baden; three sisters, Paula Jones of Scottsburg, Brenda Grimes of Paoli and Karen Forbes of Jasper; and two grandchildren. The funeral was conducted on Sunday, March 23, at McAdams Mortuary in Paoli. Bro. Harvey McAdams officiated. Burial was in Paoli Community Cemetery.

MABEL A. HOEVENER, 93, Seymour, died on Friday, February 28, at Memorial Hospital in Seymour. Born in Tampico, she was formerly of Crothersville and had worked at both Morgan Foods Inc. in Austin and the old Brannaman Restaurant at Freeman Field in Seymour. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Sauers. Survivors include a daughter, Lois J. Herndon of Seymour; a sister, Mildred Wehrkamp of Seymour; a brother, Roy Hoevener of Brownstown; and two grandsons. The funeral was conducted on Monday, March 3, at her church. The Rev. Craig Mulbach officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorial gifts may be arranged through the staff of the Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville to benefit St. John Lutheran Church.
