JAMES L. "BIRD" ENGLE, 38, New Albany, died Wednesday, October 29, at Green Valley Care Center in New Albany. She was a retired school teacher from the Jefferson County School System and received her masters in education from the University of Louisville. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 1, at Kraft Funeral Service with burial in Atkins Chapel Cemetery in Floyds Knobs.

ELIZABETH ANN "BETTY" WOLFE, 82, Louisville, formerly of New Albany, died Thursday, October 30, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany. A native of Henderson, Kentucky, he was retired from the Child Craft Industries in Salem. He was a veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Full Gospel Church in New Salisbury. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Lone Stone; four sons, Garry Stone of Salem, Danny Stone of Scottsburg, David Stone of Pekin and Billy Stone of New Salisbury; two daughters, Sharron Campbell of Salem and Tracy Byrd of Milltown; a brother, John Stone of New Salisbury; four sisters, Sibbie Dukes and Magdalene McCauley, both of Henderson, Kentucky, Dorothy Hagan of Greenfield, and Nellie Harpe of Paducah, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 2, at Love Funeral Home in Palmyra with burial in Central Barren Cemetery.

JAMES M. LYNCH, 70, New Albany, died Saturday, November 1, at his home. He was the maintenance director for St. Vincent de Paul in Louisville, a Vietnam veteran and a member of Georgetown Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, the former Sara Ripy of Georgetown; a daughter, Christy Howard of Maryland; a stepson, Brent Skaggs of Morehead, Kentucky; his mother, Aline Hogan of Jeffersonville; two sisters, Barbara Oaks and Donna Rupley, both of Jeffersonville; and one grandchild. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, November 4, at Georgetown Christian Church. Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Expressions of sympathy should go to Georgetown Christian Church Fellowship Hall.

A. DEANNE HARDEN, 62, Charlestown, died Tuesday, October 28, at Rolling Hills Healthcare. She was a native of Nevisdale, Kentucky, and a housewife. Survivors include four sons, Robert L. Jones of Jeffersonville, James Jones of Allen Park, Mi., Bill Jones of Lavonia, Mi., and Junior Jones of Westland, Mi.; a daughter, Janice LeDuke of Howell, Mi.; a sister, Florida Miller of Williamsburg, Kentucky; and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 31, at Solosy Funeral Home in Detroit, Michigan with burial in Woodmere Cemetery. Grayson Funeral Home handled the local arrangements.

ALEXANDER LEE RAISOR, 10 month old son of Ralph J. and Deloris M. Raisor of Charlestown, died Thursday, October 30, at Clark Memorial Hospital. She was the former Irene Blockson, a native of Spencer County, Kentucky, a factory worker and a member of North Charlestown Church of God. Survivors include two daughters, Norma Gibson of Jeffersonville and Janice Sanders of Otisco; a sister, Mabel Bennett of Bowling Green, Kentucky; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 3, at Grayson Funeral Home with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

RICHARD S. CHANDLER, 38, Campbellsburg, died Saturday, November 1, at Washington County Memorial Hospital in Salem. She was the former Marjorie O. Burger. Survivors include four sons, Robert E. Bowsman of Corydon and Larry J., Paul A. and Leonard E. Bowsman, all of Salem; two daughters, Mary Lou Siefker of Seymour and Barbara J. Reed of Scottsdale, Az.; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 4, at Dawalt Funeral Home with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery. MARVIN EUGENE SNELL, 50, Madison, born in Madison and lived there all of his life. He co-owned Snell’s Backhoe since 1983 with his brother and was a former employee of Jay’s Supermarket, the old Meese Manufacturing Inc., General Electric in Louisville, Ky., and Cummins Engine Company. Memberships included First Assembly of God and Sons of the American Legion, Jefferson Post 9, both in Madison. He was also a past president of the Madison Jaycees and served in the Indiana National Guard for several years. Survivors include two sons, James Michael Snell of Milton, Ky., and Joseph Ryan Snell of Madison; a daughter, Cathy Jo Abbott of Milton; his parents, Floyd M. Jr. and Jo Ella Jones Snell of Madison; a brother, Roger Snell of Hanover; two sisters, Rose Ella Everhart of Scottsburg and Jacklyn Davis of Milton; a grandson; and a close friend who cared for him, Linda Myers of Madison. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. today (Saturday) at Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home in Madison. Pastor Steve Perry will officiate. Visitation was observed at the funeral home on Friday, October 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. and is planned today from 9 a.m. until the service. Memorial gifts may be arranged through the staff of the funeral home to benefit the family.

TONI LYNN CLOUD, 33, Madison, born in Scottsburg and was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County. She was a graduate of Hanover High School and was an active volunteer at King’s Daughters Hospital in Madison. Survivors include her parents, Doyle and Cindy Cloud of Madison; a sister, Kimberly Rewis of Buford, Ga.; and her grandparents, Mary Cloud of Lexington and Leonard and Lucy Moore of Hanover. The funeral was conducted on Friday, October 31, at Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home in Madison. The Rev. Brad Enevoldsen, the Rev. Michael Cammack and Darrel Rewis officiated. VAUNETTA S. MOENTER, 86, Batesville, died on Sunday, October 26, at King’s Daughters Hospital in Madison. An Owsley County, Ky., native, she had formerly lived in Austin and Scottsburg before moving to Madison in 1997. She was a former employee of the old U.S. Shoe Corporation in Crothersville, Morgan Foods Inc. in Austin and WAVE-TV in Louisville, Ky. Memberships included Chelsea Church of God. Survivors include two sons, William J. Leedy of Madison and Rodrick Leedy of Seymour; three daughters, Debra S. Sember and Wanda Cook, both of Madison, and Pamela J. Pike of Scottsburg; two stepsons, Ronald R. Leedy of Tulsa, Ok., and Donald D. Leedy of Salem; a stepdaughter, Hilan J. Peat of Salem; two brothers, Carlos Shouse of Paris Crossing and Warden Shouse of Gatlinburg, Tn.; two sisters, Jalah Gronenboom of Marysville and Wanda M. Eddings of Jeffersonville; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted on Thursday, October 30, at Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home in Madison. The Rev. VICKI JOY WHEAT, 40, Scottsburg, died on Sunday, October 26, at her home. Born in Deputy, she had worked as a cook at Crothersville Community Schools and Schneck Medical Center. She had also worked at Morgan Foods Inc. and at the old American Can Company in Austin. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crothersville. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Joe Hall of Anderson and David Earl Hall of Crothersville; two daughters, Mary Lou Brown of Columbus and Diana Lynn Sumner of Crothersville; a brother, Donald Nay of Crothersville; a sister, Nancy Marie Lucas of Columbus; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted on Wednesday, October 29, at the Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville. The Rev. Jon Pearce officiated. Burial was in Crothersville Cemetery. MAXINE M. HASKETT VANCE, 73, of Deputy, died on Saturday, October 25, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville. A life resident of Scott County, she was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, William Seebold; two sons, Wesley Hall and Brian Hall, both of Lexington; a daughter, Sandra Bagby of Lexington; a sister, Janice Poteet of Anchorage, Ky.; and two grandchildren. The funeral was conducted on Tuesday, October 28, at the Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg. The Rev. Deanna Jobst officiated. Burial was in Lexington Cemetery.

LEON E. "SHORTY" HULS, 90, Crothersville, died on Friday, October 24, at the Bacala Nursing Center in Scottsburg, where she had been residing. She was Cemetery near Austin.

ERLENE GRAY, 80, Indianapolis, died on Wednesday, October 22, at his home. Born in Washington County, he was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran of the Korean War and served as a deacon at his church, New Beginnings Baptist in Salem. Memberships also included American Legion Post 105 in Henryville and the Moose Lodge in Sellersburg, Farm Bureau Co-op and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Salem. He was a charter member of the Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Department in Henryville. He had worked in construction and as a farmer. Survivors include his widow, the former Martha Seipp Payne; two sons, Jack D. Mull of Jeffersonville and Dale A. Mull of Salem; three daughters, Treena Wiseman of New Albany and Jerry Lee Munk and Lodema Dillon, both of Salem; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Jean of Salem; three brothers, Emmett Mull and Ferris Mull, both of Henryville, and Boyd Mull of Columbus; three sisters, Beulah Mae Ridenour of Florida, Janice Brown of Mooresville and Bonita Chastain of Scipio; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. The funeral was conducted on Saturday, October 25, at R.D. Pyke Funeral Service in Henryville. Bro. Bill Berry and Scott Huffaker officiated. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Henryville following military graveside honors.
