Patricia Ruth Greene
May 21, 1939 - March 10, 2006
Patricia Ruth Greene, 66, of South Bend, died March 10 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend. She was born May 21, 1939 in Hammond to Thomas W. and Marguerite (Wolfram) Reinholt. On June 30, 1957 in Elkhart, she married LeRoy Greene, who survives. She was a retired check deception processor for Kroger Grocery Store in South Bend. She lived most of her life in South Bend, moving there from Monterey. She loved her four dogs, Heidi, Jimmy, Otis and Pugs. She loved playing Pogo on her computer and traveling to Las Vegas. Patricia was an avid gardener and a wildlife enthusiast. She enjoyed working on craft projects. She graduated from Monterey High School in 1957. Survivors along with her husband LeRoy are: Two sons Thomas [Chris] Greene of Mishawaka and Jerry Greene of South Bend, three sisters Jackie J. (Reinholt) Armstrong and Kay F. (Reinholt) Nies both of Winamac and Marsha A. (Reinholt) [Dan] DuBois of Palmer, Alaska, three brothers Donald T. [Jane] Reinholt of South Bend, William L. Reinholt of San Pierre, and Richard L. [Sue] Reinholt of Knox. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents. A private funeral service was held at Frain Mortuary in Winamac. Burial took place in Riverbank Cemetery in Winamac. Memorial contributions may be given to Pet Refuge of St. Joseph County or the St. Joseph County Humane Society. .

Harold Peters
September 24, 1929 - March 7, 2006
Harold E. Peters, 77, 12831 Rose Road, Plymouth, passed away Tuesday, March 7 at 5:54 p.m. at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth.
He was born on Jan. 4, 1929 in Winamac, to Edward and Ethel (Jones) Peters. Harold married Barbara Personette on Sept. 24, 1949 in Lakeville.
He was a member of The Culver V.F.W. Harold worked for several L. P. Gas Companies. He also enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.
Harold is survived by his wife, Barbara Peters; their daughter, Donna [Greg] Wynn of Plymouth; their son, Larry [Pam] Peters of Rochester; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Edna Mae [James] Snyder of Plymouth; and his brother, Roger [Mona] Peters of Oklahoma. Harold was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann, his sister, and his two brothers.
Services were held on Saturday March 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Van Gilder Funeral Home with the Rev.
Steven Resner officiating. Burial was held in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
The Peters family would like for memorial contributions to be given to, The National Kidney Association, 911 E. 86th Street, Suite 100 Indianapolis, IN 46240; The Marshall County Cancer Association, P.O. Box 895 Plymouth, IN 46563; or to The American Diabetes Association, 10872 Queen Road Plymouth, IN 46563.

Clara Gertrude "Gertie" Topp
February 26, 1931 - March 11, 2006
Clara Gertrude "Gertie" Topp, 75, of Lafayette, died March 11 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette. She was born Feb. 26, 1931 in Winamac to John O. and Clara Ann (DeMoss) Locke.
On Nov. 6, 1955, in Winamac she married Gerald K. Topp. He survives. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Topp was a longtime resident of Francesville. She moved to Lafayette in 1995. She was a 1949 graduate of Winamac High School. She was a member of OES #96, Winamac and St. James-Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville.
She was a former cook at West Central Schools and a produce manager for the IGA Grocery Store in Francesville. She had also worked for Russell's Trading Post in Winamac and Marsh Stores in Lafayette. She loved bird watching and enjoyed flower gardening and arranging. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Survivors along with her husband Gerald are: three daughters, Susan Cooley and Dixie E. [Tim] Madren both of Lafayette and Linda M. [David] Alms of Zionsville, a son, Edward J. [Karen] Topp of Crown Point. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, two brothers, Bill Locke of Winamac and Don Locke of LaPorte, two sisters, Wilma Young of Winamac, and Frances Hibray of Greenfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and four sisters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday March 14 at the Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville, with James Ketchen officiating. Burial took place in Roseland Cemetery in Francesville.
Memorial contributions may be given to: the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

Mona Lou Herr
July 27, 1932 - March 7, 2006
Mona Lou Herr, 73, 204 N. Columbia St, Francesville, died March 7, 2006 at St. Vincent Medical Center, Indianapolis. She was born July 27, 1932 in Francesville and was the daughter of August and Alice (Jones) Moncel.
On September 13, 1958, in Winamac, she married Franklin L. Herr. He died June 17, 1999.
Funeral services were held at Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home on Friday March 10, 2006, with Rev. James Ketchen officiating. Burial took place in Roseland Cemetery in Francesville.
Memorial contributions may be given to: The Charity of the Donor's Choice.

Barbara Ann Kopka
September 28, 1943 - March 15, 2006
Barbara Ann Kopka, 62, of Francesville, died March 15 at Home Hospital in Lafayette. She was born Sept. 28, 1943 in Winamac to Clyde and Hazel (Howeisen) Weppler.
On June 24, 1962 at St. James-Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville, she married Larry Kopka, who survives.
Barbara was an active member of St. James-Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville. She taught Sunday School for over 25 years and was a former Church Board Member. She was a homemaker and a cook at the West Central Schools. She loved collecting angels and Boyd's Bears. She enjoyed gathering her family history. Her family was her life.
Survivors along with her husband Larry include: a daughter, Patty [Randy] Travis of Carmel, a son, Randy [Lisa] Kopka of Brookston, a grandson, Nick Kopka of Brookston, and a granddaughter, Brittany Kopka of Brookston, a sister, Bonnie [Paul] Tam of Monticello, two brothers, Kenny [Doris] Weppler of Winamac, and Harold [Sandy] Weppler. Her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at St. James-Salem United Church of Christ in Francesville on Saturday, March 18, with Pastor Lynn Rosiejka officiating. Burial took place in the St. James-Salem Cemetery in Francesville. Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home in Francesville was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society for Ovarian Cancer Research or the St. James-Salem United Church of Christ.

Cecilia Schneider
August 19, 1944 - March 15, 2006
Cecelia Schneider 61, of Winamac died March 15 at her residence. She was born August 19, 1944 in Logansport to John and Pearl (Shanks) [Gill] Wickersham [Miller].
Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 19 at Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with Father John Mencsik, officiating. Burial took place in the McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Winamac. Memorial contributions may be given to: The American Cancer Fund.

Walter F. Ayersman
February 7, 1929 - March 6, 2006
Walter F. Ayersman, 77, 5533 S. SR 119, Star City, died March 6, 2006 at Starke Memorial Hospital in Knox. He was born February 7, 1929 in Rowlesburg, WV, and was the son of Walter and Margaret G. (Riggs) Ayersman.
On March 30, 1985, in Winamac, he married Joan E. (Hedges) Yaden. She survives.
Walter was a retired locksmith. He had worked at Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor. He had also worked as a heavy equipment operator at the Levy Co. in Burns Harbor. He retired as a Correctional Sergeant from Westville Correctional Center. He had worked as a brakeman and conductor for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He had operated a sporting goods store in Hobart. He was a former employee of the Pulaski County Journal.
Walter enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a former professional bow marksman, shooting for the Jennings Bow Co. Walter was a former member of the VFW, Moose, Eagles and the FOP in Hobart.
Walter was honorably discharged from three different branches of military: Navy, Army, Air Force.
Survivors along with his wife Joan are: two step-sons: Jim Gill of Michigan City, and Jon [Brenda] Gill of Star City; a step-daughter, Dava L. Yaden Mays [Shane Bonnell] of Star City; two grandsons: Jon Gill Jr. and Mitchell Bonnell; four granddaughters: Jerri Mays Klein, Alexa Gill, Elizabeth Gill, and Kaley Bonnell. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jeremy Mays.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the Frain Mortuary in Winamac, with Pastor Paul Harwood officiating. Burial took place in the Winamac Cemetery. The VFW and the American Legion conducted graveside services.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Starke County Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
