Shirley A. Shidler
February 29, 1932 - January 10, 2008
Shirley A. Shidler, 75, of 135 North Harrison Street, Francesville, died January 10, 2008 at her residence. Shirley was born February 29, 1932 in North Judson, the daughter of Ezra I. and Rosa Loyd Jones.
On April 1, 1950 in Winamac she married John William Shidler. John died April 19, 1997.
Shirley retired in 1995 as a custodian at the West Central High School. She worked as the lunch cook at the Francesville IGA. Shirley attended the First Baptist Church in Francesville. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers. Shirley also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include: three sons: Steve [Barb] Shidler of Francesville, William Shidler of Austin, TX, Eric [Lisa] Shidler of Renselaer; four daughters: Cindy Lowry of Francesville, Peggy Gutwein of Francesville, Melissa Daugherty of Francesville, Brenda [Doug] Fritz of Medaryville; a sister, Rosemary Anderson of Central Point, OR; 18 Grandchildren; 29 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her father, Ezra I. Jones; her mother, Rosa Loyd Jones, her husband, John William Shidler.
Visitation will be 3-8 pm EST on Jan. 13, 2008 at Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville. Funeral Services will be held at the Frain Mortuary Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Francesville, on Monday, January 14, 2008 at 10:30 am EST with Dennis Gutwein officiating. Burial will take place at Independence Cemetery in Medaryville.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Jasper County Hospice.

Marlene Alba Rausch
January 14, 2008
Funeral services will be held at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at St. Edmond Catholic Church for Marlene Alba Rausch, 52, who passed away Monday, January 14, 2008 at her home the way she wanted it, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She is survived by her mother, Annabelle Alba; her husband of thirty-two years, Dr. Mosey Edward Rausch; two daughters, Jennifer and Lauren, Lauren's husband, William Pochˇ; one sister, Linda Alba Russell and her husband, Lionel Russell; one niece, Theresa and her husband, Kenneth Matherne; and one nephew, Scott Russell.
Reverend Gary Schexnayder, Pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Con-celebrants will be Reverend Tim Richard, Pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church and Deacon Randy Hyde, Deacon Frank Cormier, and Deacon Paul Matte. Interment will be held in Fountain Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Marlene was born in New Orleans where she met her husband at age twenty, but was a resident of Lafayette for thirty-two years. She was an incredibly patriotic person while simultaneously remaining extremely proud of her Filipino heritage. Marlene was also a compassionate woman who had a lust for life, having very few regrets, supporting and nurturing her family and embracing all around her. Marlene had a love for nature and all of God's creatures, especially the mountains of Jackson, Wyoming and her dogs, Susie, Kaiser and Greta.
Marlene was an introspective person who kept a journal, which included passages dealing with the unconditional love she had for her family, her faith in Jesus, and the world she lived. Marlene had a keen eye for all of those things beautiful and interesting, especially fashion and art. Marlene taught those that surrounded her how to love, her strong lust and will for life exemplified that the human spirit will not be crushed by the tragedy of cancer.
Marlene battled brain cancer for over one and a half years but never abandoned her faith or trust in Jesus. She was witty and beautiful, even in her darkest moments. When Marlene walked in and out of a room, she was always remembered due to her radiant beauty and her friendly persona. Marlene will never leave our thoughts; her open mind and loving spirit will forever imprint our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nicanor Alba; and her nephew Lonnie Russell.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Wednesday from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. and continue Thursday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be Scott Russell, Kenny Matherne, Seth Matherne, Larry Rausch, Lionel Russell, John O'Mearn, Christopher Barras, and Eloy Piacer. Honorary pallbearers will be William Pochˇ, Jack Sharlow, Roland Talley, Dale Trahan, Mike Hillman, and Bill Charbonnet.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Carmelite Monastery at 1250 Carmel Drive, Lafayette, Louisiana 70501.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of her caregivers, friends, and neighbors who stood by her until the end. The family would also like to thank Dr. DeAlvare, Dr. Karen Smith, Dr. Maitland Deland, Evelyn Goodrow, RN, Dr. Paulette Blanchette, Tonya Bacca, RN and the staff of Oncologies and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, is in charge of all funeral arrangements.

Emil A Krulik
October 2, 1918 - January 15, 2008
Emil A Krulik, 89, of North Judson, died January 15, 2008, at LaPorte Hospital. He was born October 2, 1918 in North Judson, the son of Frank P Krulik and Marie Surma.
On February 6, 1943 in Crown Point, he was married Doris Brady. She survives.
Survivors include: his wife, Doris Krulik of North Judson; three daughters: Alene [Art] Luedtke of Winamac, Betty [Jim] Demo of Wanatah, Cindy [Tim] DeArmond of Birmingham, Ala.; two sons: Jerry Krulik of North Judson, Tim [Jan} Krulik of North Judson; a sister, Irene Shidler of North Judson; a brother, Paul Krulik of Winamac; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his father, Frank P. Krulik, her mother, Marie Krulik, a son, Ronnie Krulik, two sisters: Marie Gielerak, Rose Roth; two brothers: Frank C. Krulik, Sr., Rudolph F. Krulik, two son-in-laws: Carol Podell, Greg Hott.
Funeral services were held at O'Donnell Funeral Home in North Judson on January 21, 2008, with Rev. Michael Boyd officiating. Burial took place in Highland Cemetery in North Judson.

Jo Ann (Lawrence) Shine
June 19, 1937 - December 30, 2007
Jo Ann (Lawrence) Shine, 70, passed away on December 30, 2007 at her home at 34 Trafalgar Place in The Woodlands, Texas. She was born on June 19, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Winamac, Indiana. She lived in Texas for many years. She married Richard Allen Shine on December 18, 1955, beginning fifty-two years of treasured marriage.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by adoptive parents, Lyle and Mildred Galbreath Lawrence; adoptive step-mother, Charlotte Lawrence; sister, Janet Lawrence Peverelle; and infant son, David Allen Shine.
In addition to her husband, Dick, she is survived by daughter, Jo Lynn Ritter, and son-in-law, Michael, of Conroe, Texas; son, Daniel Richard Shine, and daughter-in-law, Emily, of Liberty Hill, Texas; and granddaughters, Kayla Jo Ritter, Breanna Michelle Ritter, and Melissa Lynn Shine.
Jo Ann was an avid quilter, enjoyed Bible study, and relished the outdoors. Her compassion for others will long be remembered. Her life was a blessing, her faith an inspiration, and her memory a consolation. Jesus Christ was her joy and her strength.
A memorial service was held on January 6, 2008 at Faith Bible Church in The Woodlands, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.

Martha Louise Cadwalader
February 6, 1917 - January 20, 2008
Martha Louise Cadwalader, 90, a Francesville resident the past 15 years, formerly of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008 at Parkview Haven in Francesville. She was born Feb. 6, 1917 in Benton County, Ind., the daughter of William and Clara (Schladenhoffen) Ringger. She graduated from Francesville High School and then attended business college. She worked one year as an office manager for an oil company in Hammond, then operated a wholesale egg distribution business with her husband. In 1960 they began a Christmas tree farm in Valparaiso that they continued until 1987. Martha was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in LaCrosse.
On May 6, 1937 she married Enos Cadwalader who preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1987. Survivors include their daughter, Dr. Bonnie Buchele (Bruce Hopkins) of Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren: Amy Buchele Ash of Lawrence, Kan., Bradley Paul Buchele of Kansas City, Mo.; two great-granddaughters: Isabel Marie Ash and Sadie Helen Ash; and one sister-in-law, Martha Ellen Ringger of Arkansas. Martha was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Ringger.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at the Apostolic Christian Church in LaCrosse, ministers of the church officiating with burial to follow at the Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 24 from 10 to 11 a.m. directly at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lauramay Koebcke
September 24, 1918 - January 19, 2008
Lauramay Koebcke, 89, of 7082 W 100 S, Kewanna, died January 19, 2008 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. She was born September 24, 1918, in Redkey, Ind., the daughter of Lewis C. and Sylvia Berrier Wandrey.
On December 17, 1938 in Valparaiso, she married Russell Edward Koebcke. Russell died August 4, 2005.
Lauramay was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Winamac and a member of the women's guild and the alter guild of the church. She enjoyed playing cards, reading and crocheting. Lauramay enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include: a daughter, Colleen M. [Delbert] May of Rochester; two sons: Larry L. Koebcke of Valparaiso, and Walter L. [Donna J.] Koebcke of Kewanna; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three sisters: Clara Wandrey Hahne of Tempe, Ariz., Louise Wandrey Thompson of Slater, Iowa, and Catherine Wandrey Ash of Winamac.
She was preceded in death by: her father, Lewis C. Wandrey; her mother, Sylvia Berrier Wandrey; her husband, Russell Edward Koebcke; and three sisters: Esther Wandrey Hahne, Betty Wandrey, Margaret Wandrey.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. EST Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Frain Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. EST Thursday, January 24, 2008, in St. Luke Lutheran Church, Winamac, with Pastor Carl Fitchett officiating. Burial will take place in the Bruce Lake Cemetery located at Lake Bruce.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Luke's Church

Mabel Irene Peck
October 9, 1917 - January 15, 2008
Mabel Irene Peck, 90, of 1465 S. Wolf Lane, Winamac, died January 15, 2008, at Starke Memorial Hospital in Knox. She was born October 9, 1917, in Michigan City, the daughter of Silas and Mabel Cowgill Craig.
On June 20, 1934 in LaPorte, she was married to Russell Peck, Sr. He died Dec. 6, 1981.
Mrs. Peck was formerly of Michigan City and had lived in Monterey and Star City for many years. She worked as a housekeeper. May she rest in peace. She will be sadly missed by all.
Survivors include: a son, Russell L. [Carole Sue] Peck, Jr. of Madison, Wis.; two daughters: Caroline Williams of Michigan City, Connie Buczkowski of Michigan City;
Several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several greatgreat grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by: her father, Silas Craig; her mother, Mabel Cowgill Craig; and her husband, Russell Peck, Sr.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. No visitation will be held. Memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society.
