Margaret Louise Clift, 86, of 6304 South County Road 210, Knox, IN, passed away at 7:31 PM Monday, December 4, 2006 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, IN.
She was born September 30, 1920, in Fort Wayne, IN, to Edward and Anna Doehrman Hohnhaus.
Margaret had been living at her daughter's home at Knox, IN for 3 years. Prior to moving to Knox, she had resided in the Lafayette, IN, area since 1938. Mrs. Clift was a 1937 graduate of Kendallville High School in Kendallville, IN She attended Ball State University and recieved both her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Purdue University. Margaret taught high school classes for 34 1/2 years at Brook, Montmorenci and East Tipp. At East Tipp she was in charge of the Sunshine Society. She retired from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1982. At Lafayette Jefferson she served as the head of the home economics department. Margaret was a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Knox, IN, and St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette, IN. She was a past president of the Ladies Society at St. James Church. Margaret was also a member of the Indiana State Retired Teachers Association and the National Education Foundation. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and Phi Beta Ki Sororities. Margaret enjoyed sports, working crossword puzzles, and cooking. She had played basketball, volleyball and synchronized swimming at Ball State University.

Margaret B. "Marge" Lynn, 83, of 343 West 350 North, Winamac, IN, passed away at 7:30 PM Monday, December 4, 2006 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, IN.
She was born August 13, 1923, in Centrailia, IL, to Oliver and Marie Doliar Newsome. She married Chester Lynn on August 17, 1943 in Chicago, IL. Chester survives.
Marge was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac, IN, and the Christian - Mothers. She was also a member of the Toastmaster's Club in Covington, IN. and the Sunshine Girls Club. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time at the Casino Boats. Marge and Chester spent time together making quilts. She enjoyed watching the birds in her yard and spending time with her family.

A Rosary service will be held at 4 PM CST at Frain Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Heart Fund.
Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery in Winamac, IN

Riley E. Abbott, 72, of 812 North Agnew Street, Winamac, IN, passed away at 10:14 AM Saturday, December 2, 2006 at his residence in Winamac, IN.
He was born December 16, 1933, in Logansport, IN, to Riley and Gladys Juna Hummell Abbott.
He was retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation, Winamac Sub-District.
He enjoyed taking walks.
He formerly served in the National Guard.

Mary Martha Hardesty, 97, of 6614 W CR 800 N, Royal Center, IN, formery of Medaryville, IN, passed away at 10:40 AM Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac, IN.
She was born September 1, 1910, in Newton County, IN, to Conrad and Minnie Wolf.
She married Raymond Edward Hardesty on Aug. 24, 1935. He preceeded her in death.
She lived most of her life in Medaryville.
She was a 1927 graduate of Klondike High School in West Lafayette, IN and a member of the Medaryville Christian Church. She was a former 4-H Leader.
She was a former Postmaster of the Medaryville Post Office.
She loved to sew and grow and arrange flowers.

Steven Joseph Starkes, 20, of 306 E. Old State Road 14, Winamac, IN, passed away at 12:37 PM Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, IN.
He was born October 11, 1987, in Knox, IN, to Dale and Elizabeth Henry Starkes.
Steven J. Starkes was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Chicago, Illinois where he attended services with his father and stepmother. He was baptized at Hilltop Lutheran Church in South Bend, Indiana and he was a confirmed member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in North Judson, Indiana.
Steven graduated from Winamac Community High School with an Academic Honors Diploma in May of 2006. While at Winamac, he participated in the Academic Super Bowl team and the Cross Country team. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Students. Steven received a Certificate of Achievement from the Indiana State Senate and the President’s Award for Educational Excellence upon graduation. While in high school he earned a black belt in Tai Kwon Do and enjoyed doing volunteer work as a helper at the Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac.
Before graduating from Winamac Community High School, Steven attended the American School in Switzerland from 2002-2003. During this time Steven traveled through Italy, Switzerland, France, Austria, and the Czech Republic. He took drama and acting classes in England. While at the American School, he participated in the drama club. He performed in Shakespeare’s “Much to do About Nothing” and many other performances. He was active in the Model U.N. program and was a representative at the Paris Conference in 2003. He also participated in the Future Problem Solvers Club and the Environmental Club. He played squash and intramural tennis while in Switzerland.
Steven attended Culver Military Academy Summer Camp. While at camp, he was part of the Naval program, participated in many sports, and enjoyed the summer classes.
Most recently, Steven was a psychology major at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. At DePauw, he was a member of the Progressive Club and the Young Democratic Club.
Steven was an avid skier. He enjoyed jogging and being outdoors. He also enjoyed playing the guitar. His interest in guitar began in his teens. He was self-taught, but also received lessons from Mark Hoffman of Winamac. He and Mark produced a CD and performed twice at the Culver Coffee Company.
Steven was a vegetarian in high school and slowly became a vegan by college.
Steven liked staying in Chicago with his family and enjoyed sailing. During his short life he crossed Lake Michigan multiple times and was a graduate of the Columbia Yacht School’s Junior Sailing Program. He also loved to interact with the many people at Columbia Yacht Club. Steven sailed with his family and friends throughout the Caribbean. Steven also enjoyed playing squash.
Steven was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to books on tape and went though most of the selection of the Chicago Public Library. He had an avid and curious mind and always enjoyed challenges, both intellectual and physical. Steven had the capacity to work hard and knew the meaning of self-discipline.
Steven was also a former employee of the Department of Natural Resources and worked in the Tippecanoe State Park in Winamac. He enjoyed working there because of the “wonderful people that worked there”. Steven worked at Starkes Law Office in Winamac. Steven was a former employee of the Comfort Inn Located in Rochester, Indiana and thought it was a good job cleaning rooms because he got a long workout and could listen to his tapes at the same time. He respected his co-workers and spoke highly of them and their lives.

A community service of remembrence will be held at Frain Mortuary, Winamac, IN, Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 7 PM EST with Pastor Michael B. Boyd officiating.
Funeral services will be held at 7 PM EST Friday, November 9, 2007 at Frain Mortuary with Pastor Fritz Photenhauer officiating. Following the service a memorial celebration will be held at Steven’s home in Winamac, IN.
An additional funeral service will be held at the Concordia Lutheran Church , 2647 West Belmont Street in Chicago, IL at 1 PM CST on Saturday November 10, 2007, with Pastor H. David Brummer officiating. A memorial celebration will be held at 4300 North Marine Drive in Chicago, IL following the church services.
Private burial services will take place in the McKinley Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at Winamac, IN
Visitation will be 3-7 PM EST Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Frain Mortuary and one hour prior to services on Friday, November 9, 2007 at Frain Mortuary.

Gale M. Good, 88, of 6444 West 900 South, Winamac, IN, passed away at 9:53 AM Monday, October 29, 2007 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, IN.
He was born May 12, 1919, in Pulaski, IN, to George and Othal Mae Masterson Good. He married Alma Louise Reingardt on January 26, 1941 in White County, IN. Alma survives.
Gale was a retired farmer. He lived in Beaver Township his whole life. Gale graduated from Pulaski High School in 1937. He was a member of Paul's Chapel Church. Gale served as District 3 Pulaski County Commisioner from 1970 until 1978. He served on the board of directors of the Pulaski-White Rural Telephone Cooperative from 1960-1972. He married Alma Louise Reingardt on January 26, 1941 in White County, IN. He enjoyed watching wildlife on his farm. Gale also enjoyed watching sports on TV.

She was born May 21, 1914, in Medaryville, IN, to Henry and Martha Teske Tetzloff.
She married William W. Selmer on July 4, 1935, in Medaryville, IN. He died March 29, 1988.
She was a member of St. James Salem United Church of Christ, Francesville, and a former member of the Women's Guild of St. John United Church of Christ, Medaryville.
She lived in Francesville since 1973, moving from Medaryville after they retired from farming.
She enjoyed sewing and gardening.
