Myrtle Marie Welden, 101, of 115 North Circle Drive, Francesville, IN, passed away at 5:24 PM Friday, September 28, 2007 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville, IN.
She was born June 22, 1906, in Tefft, IN, to George and Maude Peterson Salrin. She was married to Orace Welden who died on October 2, 1974.
Myrt was born on June 22, 1906 to George Elmer and Maude Peterson Salrin on a farm in the Medaryville area. After high school she majored in business and graduated from a private college in Kankakee, IL. She was very active in her community an was co-founder of the local American Legion Auxillary and served as president of the auxillary for several years. She was the Pulaski County Democrat Party Chairwoman for two terms. Myrt loved her Medaryville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Welden enjoyed her work in the Francesville Post office for 25 years. She also owned and operated a beautiful resort (Tall Timbers) in Hayward, Wisconsin. for many years. She was a talented speaker and writer and often wrote editorials for the Francesville Tribune. In her later years Myrt was honored as Woman of the Year by the Town of Francesville. At a reception held on June 16, 2006, in celebration of her 100th birthday, Mrs. Welden was awarded a key to the Town of Francesville.
The family of Mrs. Welden would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to Mrs. Welden's wonderful neighbors.

MARIE RICHTER POTTS
September 18, 2007
Marie Richter Potts, 68, of 615 Oak Drive, Winamac, IN, passed away at 10:36 AM Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, IN.
She was born February 12, 1939, in Paxton, FL, to Helmut and Edna Parker Richter.
Marie married Everett L. Potts on April 6, 1963, in Winamac, IN. He survives.
She graduated from Winamac High School in 1957 and attended Purdue University and Fort Wayne Business College.
She had been a secretary at Fuller Brush in Indianapolis. She was also employed by Frank H. King Insurance and Davis Plumbing and Heating, Winamac.
Marie was a floral designer for 30 years with Camelot Flowers.
Marie was President of The Garden Club of Indiana, Inc. from l995-1997. She had been elected to serve as Central Region Director for the term 2007-2009, but illness caused her to resign.
Marie, a member of Iris-Elm Garden Club, was from Winamac in North Central District. She was a Master Flower Show Judge, Gardening Consultant and Environmental Consultant.
“Opportunities Abound” was her theme as State President. Major accomplishments during her term included:
• Participation in NGC’s Millions of Trees for the Environment
• $7,500 raised for stewardship of Kankakee Barrens
• First Environmental Studies School held
• 18 $1,000 scholarships awarded during term
• Youth clubs increased to 15
Marie was elected as Recording Secretary of National Garden Clubs, Inc. and served in that capacity from 2005-2007. Having served as NGC Vice Chairman of the National Garden Project, she was delighted to attend the dedication of the Butterfly Garden in Washington, D.C. last September.
Marie will be remembered as a friendly, hard-working, creative and dedicated garden club member who gave untiringly of her talents.
Marie was a former secretary of the Winamac Comm. High School Athletic Booster for 5 years. She served as President of the Winamac Town Park Board. She was a member of the Winamac Tree Committee.
She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, and garage sales.
Marie was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star #96, Winamac.

Burial will be in Winamac Cemetery, Winamac, IN.
Friends may call 4-8PM EDT Thursday, September 20, 2007 at Frain Mortuary.
The Order of Eastern Star will conduct services at 7PM EDT Thursday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Garden Clubs of Indiana, Inc. Scholarship Fund.

MINNIE WIREMAN
September 15, 2007
Minnie Wireman, 74, of 14848 West 400 North, Medaryville, IN, passed away at 12:56 AM Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, IN.
She was born April 11, 1933, in Salyersville, KY, to Adam and Pearly Joseph Wireman. She married Adam Wireman in 1949 in Kentucky. He died in 1972.
Minnie enjoyed gardening and caring for her chickens. She enjoyed spending time with her famiy.

DONALD GENE BEHNY
September 11, 2007
Donald Gene Behny, 83, of 1208 North Links Road, Winamac, IN, passed away at 6:00 PM Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, IN.
He was born March 17, 1924, in Royal Center, IN, to Darrell and Martha Baughman Behny. He married JoAnn Lange on March 17, 1946 in Winamac. JoAnn survives.
Following graduation from Royal Center High School, Don attended Purdue University for 2 and 1/2 years. While at Purdue, Don was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. On March 17, 1946 in Winamac, Don married JoAnn Lange. Don was employed for 43 years at Hoch Farm Supply as a Salesman, then Vice-President and Manager. He retired in March 1986. Don was a member of the First Christian Church in Winamac and was a 50 year member of the Winamac Lodge 262 F& AM and was Past Patron of OES 96 in Winamac. Don was a past president of the Moss Creek Country Club in Winamac. Don was a little league baseball coach for several years. Don enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and working in his yard. He also enjoyed time spent with his family. His favorite sports teams were the Boilermakers, Colts and Cubs.

RONALD E. WEAVER
September 5, 2007
Ronald E. Weaver, 66, of 703 S. Franklin St., Winamac, IN, passed away at 1:45 PM Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at his residence.
He was born August 11, 1941, in Pulaski, IN, to Vincent and Mary Margaret O'Donnell Weaver.
He married Marty Poor on Feb. 23, 1963, in Winamac. She survives.
He was a lifelong resident of Pulaski County. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1959.
He was retired from Plymouth Tube Co. in Winamac after 43 years of employment. He also was the former owner of Marty's Place.
He was a member of the United Auto Worker's Union.

Jane Foster, 78, of 716 N. Plymouth Rd. Apt. 14, Winamac, IN, passed away at 9:40 AM Monday, August 27, 2007 at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac, IN.
She was born December 2, 1928, in Lake Bruce, IN, to James and Alma Edlin Bruce.
She married Milton Foster on Dec. 2, 1948 in Indianapolis, IN. He died Nov. 11, 1961.
She was a retired telephone operator for United Telephone Co. She retired after 30 years of employment.
She was active with the United Telephone Co. Retiree's Group.
She was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Lake Bruce, IN.
She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star #96, Winamac.
She was an avid NASCAR fan and Indiana University Basketball fan.

Olive M. Kline, 87, of 410 Tioga Road, Monticello, IN, passed away at 2:00 AM Friday, August 24, 2007 at Whispering Pines in Monticello, IN. Olive was a former Monon, IN resident.
She was born April 19, 1920, in Ivesdale, IL, to Walter and Clarabeth Marquiss Olentine. She married Harry H. Kline on October 23, 1947. Harry died October 3, 1983.
Olive was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monon, IN. She served as an Army nurse during WWII and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. She had worked as a nurse for Dr. McClure in Monon, IN and was an assistant librarian at the Monon Public Library. Olive enjoyed reading and sports.
