Maudie M. (Kahler) Carlson, 87, of 342 E. Galbreath Drive, Apt. 1, Winamac, IN, passed away at 5:15 PM Tuesday, August 1, 2006 in her residence.
She was born August 30, 1918, in Star City, IN, to Mace and Clara Conwell Kahler. She married Theodore R. Carlson on Feb. 5, 1938, in Monticello, IN. He died Oct. 4, 1996.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Kewanna,IN. She had attended the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Bruce Lake, IN. She was also a member of the Pinhook Grange.
She enjoyed the fellowship of attending the Pulaski Co. Human Services Winamac Senior Center.
She was the Valedictorian of her graduating class at Pulaski High School. She was formerly employed at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Harris Garment Factory, and the Kewanna Locker Plant, all in Kewanna, IN. She had also worked at the Kingsbury Ordiance Plant, Kingsbury, IN.
She was a farm wife and homemaker.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, camping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Her favorite job in life was being a mom and grandma.
She lived most of her life in Kewanna and Fulton County. She moved to Winamac in 1996.

Burial will take place in McKinley Memorial Gardens, Winamac, IN.
Friends may call from 4-8PM CDT Friday, August 4, 2006, in Frain Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pulaski Memorial Hospital Hospice, Pulaski Co. Human Services, or Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.

ALBERTA LOIS LUDEMAN
August 1, 2006
Alberta Lois Ludeman, 85, of 234 North Market Street Francesville, IN passed away at 4:25PM Tuesday, August 1, 2006 in her residence.
She was born November 4, 1920 in Francesville, IN, to William and Emma Etta (Moose) Vollmer. Alberta married Waldo Ludeman in March 1946 in Francesville, IN. Waldo passed away March 28, 1969.
Alberta was a member of the Francesville United Methodist Church and served as church Treasurer for many years. She worked at Alcoa Aluminum Plant in Lafayette during WWII. Alberta worked as a sales clerk at the former Myers Grocery in Francesville. She was a former waitress and had provided home health care in Francesville. Alberta enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and in her later years she loved oil painting. Alberta enjoyed geneology research. She was an avid reader.

Aletha Sue Kain, 53, of 11073 W 175 N, Medaryville, IN, passed away at 9:40 AM Monday, July 31, 2006 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, IN.
She was born March 23, 1953, in Monon, IN, to Merle and Mamie Wayne Blackburn. She married Daniel D. Kain on Feb. 17, 1996, in Pleasant Ridge Church, Francesville, IN. He survives.
She was a former longtime employee of Landis Plastics, Monticello, IN.
She enjoyed traveling, painting, sewing and gardening.
She lived all of her life in White and Pulaski Counties.

Mr. Bernard Nicolas, 69, of 2494 N. U.S. 421 Medaryville, IN passed away at 3:20PM Sunday, July 30, 2006 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville, IN.
He was born January 15, 1937 in Medaryville, IN to James and Mabel Steele Nicolas.
Bernie was a member of St. Henry's Church in Medaryville, IN. He was a former bowling league member in Florida. He loved to play his harmonica for friends and family. He had worked at the PARC Center in Winamac for many years. Bernie was a country music fan and enjoyed playing along with the music on his guitar.

LYLE DEAN BONNELL
July 29, 2006
Lyle Dean Bonnell, 64, of 12828 Marshall Street, Crown Point, IN, passed away at 9:30 AM Saturday, July 29, 2006 at St. Anthony Medical Center in Crown Point, IN.
He was born April 11, 1942, in Kewanna, IN, to Sherald and Verla Haselby Bonnell. He married Joanne Moore on December 20, 1970 in the Star City United Methodist Church. Joanne survives.
He was the Business Manager for the Porter Township Schools, Valparaiso, IN. He had served as Superintendent,Business Manager,and Teacher at several schools in Indiana.
He was a member of the Indiana State Teacher's Association, American School Business Officials, American Association of School Administrators, National School Boards Association, National Education Association, and Indiana School Transportation Officials.
He also was a member of the Winamac Masonic Lodge #262, the Crown Point Moose Lodge, Northern Indiana Power from the Past, and the Lake County Historical Society.
He was a 1959 graduate of Winamac High School. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ed.D. from Ball State University.
He was a native of Pulaski County and had lived in Hagerstown, Muncie, Selma, and had lived in Crown Point for the past 15 years.
He volunteered to spend two days a week at lunchtime tutoring Fourth Grade Students in the Porter Township Schools in Math and Reading. They adopted him as their grandfather on - Grandparents Day at the school.

FORREST L. FOULKS
July 29, 2006
Forrest L. Foulks, 84, of 1736 E 500 N, Monon, IN, passed away at 2:36 PM Saturday, July 29, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette, IN.
He was born August 31, 1921, in Monon, IN, to Earl and Mabel Luella English Foulks. He married Alva June Yeoman on February 15, 1946 in Rensselaer, IN. She died April 12, 2005.
Forrest was a member of the First Christian Church in Francesville, IN. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He had served on the submarine chaser USS 1026. Forrest loved horse shoe pitching, pool and shuffle board. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He farmed his entire life in the Francesville & Monon area. He wintered in Sebring, FL for the past 22 years.

VIOLET M. CONNER

Violet M. Conner, 104, of 101 Constitution Drive, Francesville, IN, passed away at 7:30 AM Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Parkview Haven Retirement Home in Francesville, IN.
She was born February 19, 1902, in Mena, AR to George and Mary Rearick Rinebarger. She married Marion G. Conner on September 30, 1930 in Winamac, IN. Marion died October 4, 1973.
Violet has lived in Pulaski County since she was 3 years old, having moved here from Mena, Arkansas. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Winamac, Ladies of Charity, and the Christian - Mothers. Violet was a life member of the Pulaski Memorial Hospital Auxillary and was a member of the Monroe #1 Home Extension Club. She was a charter member of the Board of Directors of Pulaski Human Services and served as Secretary from 1973-1981. Violet was the Pulaski County representative to the Northwest Indiana Community Action Agency. She enjoyed Cro-knitting.
