Iola B. Maeda, 90, of 624 East 13th Street, Winamac, IN, passed away at 5:00 PM Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at Pulaski Health Care Center in Winamac, IN.
She was born January 7, 1917, in Eldorado, IL, to Zeke and Ruth Farley Golden.
Iola was a former Lake County resident. She loved reading.

Linda Lou Brick Filas, 62, of 16736 W 125 N, Medaryville, IN, passed away at 1:06 AM Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette, IN.
She was born February 21, 1945, in Medaryville, IN, to Lloyd and Reva Jones Brick. She was married to Marvin J. Filas on June 20, 1979 in Portage, IN. He died March 2, 2003.
She was raised in Medaryville and returned there 2 years ago. She formerly lived in Toledo, OH, and Apache Junction, AZ.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, Medaryville, IN.
She was an artist and loved to paint. She also was an avid golfer.

Diane L. Watkins, 61, of Sebring, Florida died March 5, 2007 at her home in Sebring. Diane was a lifelong resident of Culver, IN.
She was born September 25, 1945 in Gary, IN the daughter of John and Annabelle Hacket Logan. Diane married James W. Watkins on June 22, 1985 in Portage, IN.
She was a retired finacial clerk for Ford Motor Credit Company. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Culver, IN.

Bobby E. Hounchell, 65, of 1228 E 700 S, Star City, IN, passed away at 10:36 AM Friday, March 2, 2007 at Pulaski Memorial Hospital in Winamac, IN.
He was born August 15, 1941, in Lynch, KY, to Clayton and Mary Collette Hounchell. He married Estelle M. Mitchell on Sept. 30, 1978, in Winamac, IN. She survives.
He was a graduate of Indiana University Kokomo.
He retired from Dalmer Chrysler in April 2005, after 28 years. He was an Inspector.

She was born June 18, 1929, in South Bend, IN, to Carl and Elizabeth Onken. She married Russell Boehning who died in 1987.
Norma was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxillary in Shawne, KS. She was a former resident of Francesville and Lafayette.

Hewitt Edward Fairchild, 37, of 221 E. Lyman St., Francesville, IN, passed away at 10:03 PM Sunday, February 18, 2007 at LaPorte Hospital in LaPorte, IN.
He was born April 5, 1969, in Valparaiso, IN, to Roy and Judy Ricks Fairchild Jr.
He married Teressa J. Rodriguez on Dec. 9, 1994, in Rensselaer, IN. She survives.
He graduated in 1987 from River Valley High School, Three Oaks, MI.
He served in the US Army for five years and was a veteran of the Gulf War.
He was the co-owner of Creative Manufacturing Solutions in Rolling Prairie, IN. He started the business with his brother in 2003 after 10 years in the manufacturing field.
He liked building things like motorcycles, and recreational vehicles.
He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. He liked taking his daughters fishing.

VALERIE E. STEELE
February 16, 2007
Valerie E. Steele, 90, of 501 N. Lincoln Ave., Fowler, IN, passed away at 7:40 AM Friday, February 16, 2007 at Greenhill Manor in Fowler, IN.
She was born October 23, 1916, in Lee, IN, to Lester and Cecelia Owen Warren. She married Homer "Dutch" Steele on April 19, 1935 in Crown Point,IN. Dutch died in September of 1986.
Valerie was a member of Medaryville United Methodist Church. She was a 50+ member of OES 310 in Medaryville. Valerie was a former longtime Medaryville resident. She was an active participant at the Medaryville Senior Center for many years. Valerie had worked at the Medaryville Garment Factory. She and her husband Dutch operated Steele's Garage in Medaryville for many years. She & Dutch purchased the former Clark's Drug Store building in Medaryville and opened a store where they sold a little of "this and that" along with fountain drinks and coffee. After retirement she and her husband spent many winters in Florida.
