Lura L. Warner Morgan

ROCHESTER -- Services for Lura L. Warner Morgan, 82, of 5578N 100W, Rochester, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Foster & Good Funeral Home.

She died at 2:34 a.m. Monday, April 26, 1999, in Woodlawn Hospital.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 9 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Manuel "Mel" Barajas

Services for Manuel "Mel" Barajas, 70, of 930 North St., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in All Saints Catholic Church.

Mr. Barajas died at 5:11 a.m. today, April 28, 1999, in his residence.

Born June 2, 1928, in East Chicago, he was the son of Rafael and Genoveva Barajas. On Nov. 16, 1974, he was married to Martha M. Wagner, who survives.

Mr. Barajas retired in 1979 from Wisconsin Steel in Chicago. Since 1993, he has been employed at the Pharos-Tribune.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, he had served during the Korean War.

He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Logansport, and Holy Name Society, Chicago.

Mr. Barajas was an amateur photographer, and he loved indoor gardening.

Also surviving are two brothers, Alfonzo and Joseph Cardenas, both of Chicago; two sisters, Rafaela Rebeles and Juanita Abascal, also of Chicago; six children, Scott, Rockville, Crystal, West Lafayette, and Christopher, James, Laura and Anita, all of Chicago; three grandchildren; brothers-in-law Ray Wagner and his wife, Jeanne, Tom Wagner and Dick Crozier, all of Logansport; nieces Dawn Shackelford and her husband, Chuck, and Lori Wagner, all of Logansport, and Suzanne Foust, West Lafayette; great-niece, Alexis Rennewanz, Logansport; great-nephew, Deion Rennewanz, Logansport; and beloved friends, David and Beth Foust, Logansport, and Ron and Darlene Strasser, Brazil.

One son preceded in death.

Father Leo Haigerty will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

George "Bud" L. Muehlhausen

ROYAL CENTER -- Services for George "Bud" L. Muehlhausen, 79, Logansport, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, Logansport.

He died at 8:20 p.m. Monday, April 26, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 12, 1919, in Chicago, he was the son of George F. and Louise George Muehlhausen.

On Sept. 9, 1940, in Baptist Temple, Logansport, he was married to Mary Margaret Chambers, who survives.

Mr. Muehlhausen was a World War II tail gunner on a B-26 with the 20th Air Force. He was one of the original Horney Creek Marines.

He was the plant engineer at Rockwell until 1963, and from 1967 to 1985, he was a sales engineer for Midwest Spring Corporation, Mentone. He was also one of the three founding brothers of Muehlhausen Bros. Spring Factory in 1963.

Mr. Muehlhausen was a 1939 graduate of Logansport High School, and he attended Drake University and Purdue University. He attended First United Methodist Church, Logansport, and was a member of Tipton Lodge #3 F &AM, and Ft. Wayne Scottish Rite. He was also past president of United Commercial Travelers Association, and served on Logansport Fringe Area Planning Commission.

Also surviving are three sons and their wives, George L. II and Lanette Muehlhausen, Walton, John C. and Patrica Muehlhausen, Logansport, James K. and Sally Muehlhausen, Logansport; one sister, Dorothy Searles, Zionsville; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and two sisters preceded in death.

The Rev. Michael Dominick will officiate at the services.

Friends may call one hour before the services at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Grace C. Wilson

PERU -- Services for Grace C. Wilson, 77, of Denver, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

She died at 12:58 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, 1999, in Saint Joseph Hospital, Kokomo.

The Rev. George McCarty will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour before services Thursday in the funeral home.

David Patrick Nix

ROCHESTER -- Graveside services for David Patrick Nix, 55, of 1644 N. Delaware, Indianapolis, formerly of the Houston, Texas and Rochester areas, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

He died at 8:20 a.m. Monday April 26, 1999, in Clarian Health Partners Methodist Campus, Indianapolis.

Pastor Steve Fleck will officiate at the services.

Foster & Good Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Frank A. Hay

DENVER -- Services for Frank A. Hay, 80, Fontana, Calif., formerly of Twelve Mile, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in McClain Funeral Home.

He died at 6 p.m. Monday, April 26, 1999, in Redlands Community Hospital, Redland, Calif.

Born April 23, 1919, in Peru, he was the son of Leo and Mildred Hay Working. On April 2, 1943, in Tampa, Fla., he was married to Virginia Doran, who survives.

Mr. Hay served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He flew 83 missions over Europe in a B-26. He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Fontana, Calif.

He was a retired real estate salesman.

Also surviving are two daughters, Marlene Nichols, San Bernadino, Calif., and Dixie Ramirez, Fontana, Calif.; four brothers, Richard Working, Centerville, Ohio, Russell Working, Bloomington, Raymond Working, Manchester, Tenn., and Jerry Working, Roanoke; three grandchildren, Richard Ramirez, Fontana, Calif., Thrisa James, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Scott Nichols, San Bernadino, Calif.; and three great-granddaughters, Jordan James, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Madeline Nichols and Abigail Nichols, both of San Beradino, Calif.

One grandson, Bryan Nichols, preceded in death.

The Rev. Don Ritchey will officiate at the services. Burial, with graveside military rites, will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Thomas J. Gasaway

FLORA -- Services for Thomas J. Gasaway, 47, of 1825W State Road 18, Flora, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Reinke Funeral Home.

He died at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 1999, in his residence.

Pastor Jeff Peters will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and Flora Girls’ Softball.

Dominick R. "Jake" Giacobazzi

DELPHI -- A funeral Mass for Dominick R. "Jake" Giacobazzi, 79, of 12711 W. Tippecanoe Ranch Road, will be held at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He died at 9:35 p.m. Monday, April 26, 1999, in St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi.

Fathers Donald Hardebeck and Peter Vanderkolk will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites, will be in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the 40 et 8 Voiture Nurses Training Program and St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi.

Kathryn Bernice Downham

Services for Kathryn Bernice Downham, 91, of the Neal Home, 2518 George St., and formerly of Rt. 3, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Deer Creek Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Downham died at 10:11 a.m. Monday, May 31, 1999, in St. Joseph Medical Center, Kokomo.

Born Nov. 1, 1907, in Cass County, she was the daughter of Frank and Ella Poundstone Lenon. On Dec. 15, 1929, she was married in Logansport to Willard Downham, who died March 26, 1986.

Mrs. Downham was a homemaker and was very helpful to her husband on the family farm.

She was a member of Deer Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was a former church pianist and organist. She also was past president of the church’s Ladies Aid Society.

She assisted in establishing the first school lunch program for Deer Creek High School.

Mrs. Downham was an avid sports fan and had played basketball at Young America High School.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Max and Margaret Downham, Inverness, Ill.; and two grandsons, Kurt and Keith Downham, both of Chicago.

Three sisters, Eva, Mary and Edna, preceded in death.

The Rev. David Smook will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Center EUB, Young America.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Deer Creek Presbyterian Church Organ Fund and the Neal Home.

Fred M. Wagoner

CAMDEN -- Services for Fred M. Wagoner, 93, of 815 W. Columbia St., Flora, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Cree Funeral Home.

Mr. Wagoner died at 12:55 p.m. Monday, May 31, 1999, in Brethren Healthcare Center, Flora.

Born Sept. 8, 1905, in Carroll County, he was the son of Ross F. and Roxie M. Barnard Wagoner. He was married to Marian Frances Wyatt, who died Aug. 27, 1966. In February 1969, he was married to Hazel Simmons Fisher, who died Aug. 10, 1991.

A 1924 graduate of Camden High School, he was a farmer.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Camden, he also was a Camden Lions Club-last surviving charter member. Mr. Wagoner was a member of the Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge #211, F & AM at Camden, Scottish Rite Indianapolis Valley and Camden Community Club.

Surviving are two sons, Peter F. Wagoner, Camden, and Gerald W. Wagoner, Nashville; two brothers, Joe Wagoner, Camden, and Roger Wagoner, Sullivan; two sisters, Martha Sanderson, Flora, and Doris Hammer, Wabash; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

One sister and one grandchild also preceded in death.

The Rev. Ray Herriman will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Camden Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday in the funeral home.

Kay A. Kindig

MENTONE -- Services for Kay A. Kindig, 63, of 8106 W State Road 25, Mentone, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in King Memorial Home.

Mrs. Kindig died at 4:40 p.m. Monday, May 31, 1999, in Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne.

The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kay A. Kindig Scholarship Fund.

Bernice Fenstermacher

ROCHESTER -- Services for Bernice Fenstermacher, 83, of 1408 Washington St., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Zimmerman Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fenstermacher died at 9:33 a.m. Monday, May 31, 1999, in Life Care Center, Rochester.

The Rev. Rob Crytzer will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Athens.

Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

James R. 'Bob' Hopper

PERU -- Services for James R. "Bob" Hopper, 85, of 109 W. Main St., will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

Mr. Hopper died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 1999, in Dukes Memorial Hospital.

Born April 26, 1914, in Cass County, he was the son of Thurman A. and Fern Yerkes Hopper. On Sept. 27, 1957, he was married to Eileen Helvie, who survives.

Mr. Hopper retired in 1975 as Director of Special Services at Grissom Air Force Base. He also was a former school teacher and insurance agent.

He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Air Corps, where he was a navigator during World War II.

He was a member of First Christian Church, American Legion, Peru Maennerchor, Moose Lodge and Midwest Tool Collectors, and a life member of Peru Elks Lodge.

A graduate of Onward High School and Manchester College, Mr. Hopper taught and coached basketball at Mexico High School and also taught at Logansport, Rensselaer and Peru high schools. He was also an assistant football coach at Peru High School.

Also surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel H. and Marilyn Hopper, Onward, and Michael A. Hopper, Indianapolis; one stepson, James C. Helvie, Longboat Key, Fla.; one brother, George Hopper; two sisters, Marie Myers, Fowler, and Virginia Morris, Hendersonville, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

His parents, one son and two stepsons preceded in death.

The Rev. George McCarty will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church and the American Diabetes Association.

Charles 'Chuck' Edward Creighbaum

Services for Charles "Chuck" Edward Creighbaum, 66, of 915 N. Sixth St., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Creighbaum died at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born June 4, 1932, in Kouts, he was the son of Floyd and Nina Tippett Creighbaum. On Sept. 26, 1964, he was married in Logansport to Margaret L. Chambers, who died May 18, 1999.

Mr. Creighbaum was a retired installer and repairer for GTE, having been employed there from 1959 to 1993. He also was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Izaak Walton League, Eagles Lodge, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also enjoyed fishing.

Surviving are two sons, Steve Wilson and John Wilson, both of Logansport; two daughters, JoAnn Colter, Richmond, Va., and Beckey Lane, Lucerne; two sisters, Margie Schlosser, Argos, and Donna Hartz, Tippecanoe; and five grandchildren.

Two brothers, Dean "Diz" Creighbaum and Donald Creighbaum, preceded in death.

The Rev. Michael Williams will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, where an Eagles service will be held at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association of Cass County.
