FLORA -- Services for O. Ernest Penn, 83, of 807 W. Columbia St., will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Baker Funeral Home.

Mr. Penn died at 4:50 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 1999, in Brethren Healthcare Center, Flora.

Burial will be in Paint Creek Cemetery, Camden.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Geneva Pearl Swartz Simmons

Services for Geneva Pearl Swartz Simmons, 87, Chase Center, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

She died at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 1999, in Chase Center.

Born Dec. 23, 1911, in White County, she was the daughter of Gilbert and Mary Haas Mitchell. On Dec. 24, 1929, she was married to Walter Swartz, who died Oct. 3, 1943. On Dec. 24, 1945, she was married to Lloyd Simmons, who died Dec. 15, 1974.

Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker, and a member of Bethel Temple. She also enjoyed gardening.

Surviving are two daughters, Gladys Wood, Logansport, and Mary Anderson, Cherokee, Iowa; three sisters, Amanda Criswell, Irene Lange and Annie Lowry, all of Monticello; two brothers, Joe Mitchell, Monticello, and Harry Mitchell, Logansport; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Lois Knight Hunt, preceded in death.

The Rev. Buddy Holder will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Idaville Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Malinda (Zarse) Huffman

FRANCESVILLE -- Services for Malinda (Zarse) Huffman, 84, of 8630S 1050W, Francesville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Querry-Ulbricht Funeral Home.

She died at 6:35 a.m. Monday, May 31, 1999, in Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.

Born June 13, 1914, in Chalmers, she was the daughter of William and Martha Kruger Zarse. On March 19, 1939, in Chalmers, she was married to James F. Huffman, who died Sept. 15, 1990.

Mrs. Huffman, a homemaker, had lived in the Francesville area for most of her life. She was a member of St. James Salem United Church of Christ.

Surviving are two daughters, Marilyn Kizlik, Lake Nebagamon, Wis., and Carolyn Shivley, Francesville; one son, William Huffman, Winamac; three brothers, Walter Zarse, Brookston, Herbert Zarse, Reynolds, and Harold Zarse, Lafayette; eight grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

A son, Donald Huffman, one sister, three brothers, and one grandchild preceded in death.

The Rev. Ronald Purkey will officiate at the services. Burial will be at St. James Salem Cemetery, Francesville.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International.

Anna L. Zody

PERU -- Anna L. Zody, 65, of 231 E. Third St., died Sunday, May 30, 1999, in her residence.

There will be no services or visitation.

Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James C. Clark

MONTICELLO -- Services for James C. Clark, 69, of 409 Heritage Road, Monticello, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.

He died at 1:25 p.m. Monday, May 31, 1999, in Borgees Medical Center, Kalamazoo, Mich.

The Rev. James Cobb will officiate at the services. Burial will be at Riverview IOOF Cemetery, Monticello.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.

Robert Hawk

ROCHESTER -- Robert Hawk, 65, of 4222 N. Bowen, Leiters Ford, died at 9:05 p.m. Monday, May 31, 1999, in an automobile accident on Ind. 110, a quarter mile west of U.S. 31.

Rites are pending at Foster & Good Funeral Home.

ROCHESTER -- Services for Robert Eugene Hawk, 65, of Leiters Ford, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Foster & Good Funeral Home.

He died at 9:20 p.m. Monday, May 31, 1999, in Marshall County from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near U.S. 31.

Born Jan. 5, 1934, in Fulton County, he was the son of Edward L. and Leona Mae Gibson Hawk. On Feb. 10, 1953, in Rochester, he was married to Esther Jean Waltz, who died July 11, 1979. On Nov. 13, 1981, in Rochester, he was married to Emma Anderson, who survives.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Seabees on Guam.

A lifetime resident of Fulton County, Mr. Hawk owned and operated Hawks Garage in Leiters Ford with his son Randy since 1959. He and his wife Emma owned and operated "Laser Measuring System," a distance measuring device used at tractor and truck pulls.

He was heavily involved with the IPI (Indiana Pullers Inc.), National Tractor Pullers Association, Bi-County Classic Tractor and Truck Pull, and "Prarrie Gold Rush," a magazine about Classic Minneapolis Moline Tractors and the Minneapolis Moline Collectors Club. He attracted many customers and Moline enthusiasts from all over North America.

Mr. Hawk was actively involved in the Leiters Ford community through his association with the Leiters Ford Fire Department, Leiters Ford Strawberry Festival, Community Mosquito Control Group, Leiters Ford Improvement Association and the Leiters Ford Merchants Association. He was also a member of the Richland Center IOOF Lodge #435.

Surviving are his mother, Leona Mae Hawk, Rochester; one daughter, Becky Sue Beatty and her husband, Steven, Rochester; one son, Randy Eugene Hawk and his wife, Janice, Rochester; three stepdaughters, Kylene Chamberlin and her husband, Dale, Ronda Cole and her husband, Rodney, and Lovie Cook, all of Norfolk, Neb.; two stepsons, Kyle Gene Delp and his wife, Chae, Colo., and Gerald Delp and his wife, Tina, Terrel, Texas; one sister, Terry Partridge and her husband, Michael, Allen, Texas; one brother, Donald E. Hawk and his wife, Mary, Cape Coral, Fla.; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

One daughter, Linda Kay Hawk, one stepson, Dennis Delp, and one sister, Carol Hawk, preceded in death.

The Rev. Robert Metzger will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites, will be at Leiters Ford Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday in the funeral home.

Rose E. Burket

A funeral Mass for Rose Elaine Burket, 87, of 3131 George St., formerly of 2612 Stadium Dr., will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in All Saints Catholic Church.

She died at 1:30 a.m. today in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born May 12, 1912, in Logansport, she was the daughter of LeRoy Martin and Rose Fox Burket.

Miss Burket was a 1929 graduate of St. Joseph’s Commercial High School in Logansport.

She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and the All Saints Ladies Society. She also belonged to the Daughters of Isabella and the Infant Jesus of Prague Study Club.

She was employed for 46 1/2 years at the National Bank of Logansport, retiring in 1978 from the Mortgage Loan Department.

Miss Burket was a member of the National Bank Retirees Club and volunteered her time at the St. Vincent de Paul Store and in the gift shop at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include two nephews and their spouses, John B. and Nancy Hines, and James M. and Loretta Hines, all of Muncie; four great-nephews; and four great-nieces.

A sister, Zella Hines, one niece, Mary Ann Nitterhouse, and a great-nephew preceded in death.

Father Donald Gross will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Kroeger Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 5 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the All Saints School Fund.

Major Bradford Sebastian

BUNKER HILL -- Memorial services for Major Bradford Sebastian, 45, of 722 Johanne Place, Colorado Springs, Colo., will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday in Bunker Hill Baptist Church.

He died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 1999, at his residence.

The Rev. Charles Layne will officiate at the services. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Friends may call from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the church.

Allen Funeral Home, Bunker Hill, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen M. McKinley

DENVER -- Helen M. McKinley, 64, of Logansport, died at 3:43 p.m. Wednesday in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Arrangements are pending at McClain Funeral Home.

Geneva M. (McFarland) Johnson

FT. MYERS, Fla. -- Memorial services for Geneva M. McFarland Johnson, 74, of Ft. Myers, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Logansport.

She died Thursday, May 27, 1999, in Florida.

Born Nov. 8, 1925, in Orange County, she was the daughter of James D. and Ora E. Holland McFarland. On Dec. 28, 1943, she was married to Hobart L. Johnson, who survives.

Mrs. Johnson was a 1940 graduate of French Lick High School. She was employed for 14 years for General Tire and Rubber Co. in Logansport. She had also been employed by H.W. Gossard and she worked in Monticello as a nursing assistant. In Florida, she worked as a certified home health aide.

She and her husband lived in Logansport until 1969, when they moved to Monticello. They retired to Ft. Myers in 1980, where they owned Johnson’s Retirement Home.

Surviving are her husband, Hobart L. Johnson, Ft. Myers; one son, Ron Johnson, Cape Coral, Fla.; two daughters, Debra Johnson, Ft. Myers, and Janet Gotshall, Logansport; and two grandsons, Jason Sturdivant, Bloomington, and Joshua Weisbeker, Gainesville, Fla.

A daughter, Linda S. Weisbeker, preceded in death.

The Rev. David Ylvisaker will officiate at the joint memorial service, to be held in the first floor chapel of Trinity Lutheran Church. Graveside rites were held May 28, 1999, at Lee Memorial Park Cemetery, Fla., officiated by the Rev. Robert Williams.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Linda Johnson Weisbek

Memorial services for Linda Johnson)Weisbeker, 50, of Cape Coral, Fla., will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church.

She died Tuesday, May 22, 1999, at her residence.

Born Feb. 17, 1949, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Hobart and Geneva McFarland Johnson.

A 1967 graduate of Logansport High School, she graduated from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Lafayette in 1972. In 1973, she moved to Ft. Lauderdale, and in 1982 she relocated to Cape Coral.

In Florida, she was employed as a home health nurse, traveling emergency room nurse and surgical nurse. She was recently nursing director at Cape Coral Hospital.

Surviving are a son, Joshua Weisbeker, Gainesville, Fla.; her companion, Joe Cammarano, Cape Coral; her father, Hobert L. Johnson, Ft. Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Debra Johnson, Ft. Myers, and Janet Gotshall, Logansport; one brother, Ron Johnson, Cape Coral; and one nephew, Jason Sturdivant, Bloomington.

The Rev. David Ylvisaker will officiate at the services, to be held in the first floor chapel of Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial was in Lee Memorial Park Cemetery in Florida, following services held last Sunday, officiated by the Rev. Robert Williams.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Sheila S. Shipman Gordon

FISHERS -- Memorial services for Sheila S. Shipman Gordon, 64, of Elwood, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday in Shirley Brothers Castleton Chapel.

She died Tuesday, June 1, 1999, at her residence in Elwood.

Mrs. Gordon was employed as an office manager for Wilson Foods Corporation in Logansport for 13 years. Following that, she was the administrator of Delaware Health Care for two years and administrator of Edgewood Manor Health Care in Oxford for three years.

She had lived in Logansport for some time and her family was from the Peru area.

Surviving are her mother, Esther Shipman; two sons, Richard Smith and Bradley Gordon; two daughters, Melody Williams and Tanya Harmon; two brothers, Darryl Shipman and Steve Shipman; one sister, Karen Sue Sorrell; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday in the funeral home, 9900 N. Allisonville Rd., Fishers. Interment of cremains will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tyson Harmon Memorial Fund, a fund named for a her grandson that supports high school youth activities, in care of Bruce Brown, 5907W 100N, Delphi 46923-8973.

Norma J. Hines

Norma J. Hines, 70, of 1501 N. Third St., died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Arrangements are pending at Fisher Funeral Chapel.

Oneida E. Kiesling

Services for Oneida E. Kiesling, 82, of 1229 High St., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.

She died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 1999, at her residence.

Born April 9, 1917, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Edgar F. and Bertha M. Coblentz Snyder. On July 26, 1936, in Logansport, she was married to William H. Kiesling, who died Feb. 9, 1998.

Mrs. Kiesling, a homemaker, was a member of Ninth Street Christian Church. She was a past board member of the Cass County Children’s Home and was involved with the Longfellow Elementary School PTA.

She also was a member of the Mary Dykeman Hospital Guild and Tri Kappa Sorority.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Connie L. Kiesling, Logansport; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen A. and Ronald W. Flickinger, Fort Wayne; a sister-in-law, Foyvelle Myers, Logansport; four grandchildren, Ronald Flickinger II, Broomfield, Colo., John F. Flickinger, Fort Wayne, Timothy W. and Heather Kiesling, Lansing, Mich., and Sara E. Kiesling, Logansport; three nieces; and three nephews.

The Rev. Jim Beaumont will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ninth Street Christian Church Building Fund and the Cass County Children’s Home.

Eric Lee Moore

Services for Eric Lee Moore, of 608 Madison St., Rochester, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel.

Eric was stillborn at 2:10 a.m. today in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

Surviving are the parents, Matthew E. and Melissa K. Moore, Rochester; maternal grandparents, Debbie Wilson, Fulton, and Steve Williams, Monticello; maternal great-grandmother, Marilyn Williams, Logansport; paternal grandparents, Edward Moore, Logansport, and Sharon Smith, Rochester; and paternal great-grandparents, Houston and Ruby Whitehead, Logansport.

The Revs. Jim Sparks and Larry Pyeatt will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Baby Walk at Mount Hope Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
