Lois R. Frye

Services for Lois R. Frye, 82, of 301 E. Columbia St., will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.

She died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 1999, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born April 10, 1917, in Rockfield, she was the daughter of Roy E. and Effie Kerlin Snoeberger.

She was a retired employee of the Logansport Essex plant and The Gift Box.

She formerly attended Third Street United Methodist Church.

Surviving are one daughter, Patti Hershberger, Logansport; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Hershberger, Logansport, and Beth Hershberger, Indianapolis; four nieces, Jean Appleton and Carolyn Watson, both of Rockfield, Joyce Pyle, Crawfordsville, and Linda Williams, Loveland, Colo; and one nephew, Ron Flora, Indianapolis. One brother and one sister preceded in death.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rockfield IOOF Cemetery.

Eva Elizabeth Anglin

WARSAW -- Services for Eva Elizabeth Anglin, 88, formerly of 504 Yorktown Road, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel.

She died at 10:25 p.m. Friday, July 2, 1999, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Logansport.

Born Jan. 14, 1911, in Kosciusko County, she was the daughter of Howard E. and Mary Jane (Froehly) Evans. On Nov. 12, 1929, she was married in Wabash to William Kelly Anglin, who died June 8, 1984.

She lived most of her life in Kosciusko County.

Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Coplen, Logansport; one granddaughter, Dr. Sharon Coplen, Boston; one grandson, Jim Coplen, Fort Wayne; and four great-grandchildren.

One brother, one daughter and two sisters preceded in death.

Pastor Chip Gast will officiate atthe services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cross-Wind United Methodist Church.

Betty Ellen Patton

Services for Betty Ellen Patton, 75, 711 E. Main St., Flora, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

She died at 8:25 a.m. Saturday in Miller’s Merry Manor.

She was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Logansport, to George and Fern Mayberry.

As a youth, she was a cheerleader at Riley Junior High School and Logansport High School before she graduated in 1942.

In 1991, she retired from the Comprehensive Development Center in Monticello where she had worked as a group home manager for handicapped women. She was a member of the Flora Brethren Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles and American Legion auxiliaries.

She dearly loved her family and her hobbies were golf, tennis, swimming and dancing.

Surviving are one daughter, Cheryl Lynn Patton, Logansport; one son, Robert Thomas Patton, Green Acres, Fla.; one sister, Lois Ayres, Flora; one stepsister, Donna Bartrand, Grand Rapids, Mich; three granddaughters, Stephanie Gerlach and Angela Soules, both of Lafayette, and Cynthia Patton, Green Acres, Fla., one grandson and his wife, Tracy and Janet Eastes, Idaville, and a granddaughter and her husband, Debbie and Wally Doter, Ohio; a special friend, Owen Kissinger, Logansport; and 10 great-grandchildren.

One grandson and one stepbrother preceded in death.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Pastor J.P. Freeman will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Lester L. Dowell

PERU -- Graveside services for Lester L. Dowell, 83, of 360 N. Smith St., will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, with full military rites.

He died at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 1999, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

Dylan J. L. Stough

ROCHESTER -- Graveside services for infant Dylan James Lowery Stough, of 411 W. 11th St., will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Citizens Cemetery, Rochester.

Dylan was stillborn at 10:46 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 1999, in Woodlawn Hospital.

There will be no visitation.

Foster & Good Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Vincent G. ‘Sparkie’ Roth

MONTICELLO -- Services for Vincent G. "Sparkie" Roth, 78, a former Monticello resident, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.

He died Feb. 7, 1999, in Sarasota, Fla.

The Rev. James Goodrum will officiate at the services and inurnment will be in IOOF Riverview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or hospice programs.

Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald D. Gearhart

AKRON -- Services for Gerald D. Gearhart, 81, 1954 South Ind. 19, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Akron Church of the Brethren.

He died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 1999, in his residence.

The Revs. Clark Shearer and Steve Fleck will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Silver Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the services in Hartzler Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Akron Church of the Brethren.

Betty J. Seiler

PERU -- Services for Betty J. Seiler, 73, of Rochester, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

She died at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 1999, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

The Rev. Chris Dodson will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Bobbie Joe Skelton

WINAMAC -- Services for Bobbie Joe Skelton, 52, of Winamac, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Frain Mortuary.

Mr. Skelton died at 2:42 p.m. Friday, July 30, 1999, at Pulaski Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 23, 1946, he was the son of Bobbie Skelton and Delores Smith Clark, both survive. On Oct. 4, 1969, in Winamac, he was married to Mary J. Becker, who survives.

He was a production laborer with Plymouth Tube Inc., where he worked in the cold draw mill.

Mr. Skelton served in the Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1728, American Legion Post #71 and the United Auto Workers #1448.

Also surviving are one brother, James Skelton, of Pewaukee, Wis.; two half-brothers, Mark Skelton, of Friendship, Wis. and Andy Skelton, of Milwaukee, Wis.; and two sisters, Shirley Burns and Sherry Combs, both of Winamac.

One half-brother David Skelton preceded in death.

Pastor Jeff Jones will officiate at the services, where the American Legion and VFW will conduct military graveside services. Burial will be in McKinley Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Fund.

Willadene K. Foust

GALVESTON -- Services for Willadene K. Foust, 81, of Walton, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Murray Funeral Home, Galveston Chapel.

Mrs. Foust died at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born July 21, 1918, in Cass County, she was the daughter of Harmon and Inez Kunkle Wilson. On Feb. 26, 1939, in Peru, she was married to Earl Foust, who preceded in death in 1959.

A 1961 graduate of Indiana Business School, Kokomo, she had been employed for 38 years in the accounting department of First National Bank, Kokomo.

She was a member of Kokomo Church of Christ.

Surviving are two daughters, Judith and her husband Daniel NcNeill, of Atlanta, Ga., and Nancy and her husband Marvin Alsum, of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Corwin Wilson and his wife Betty, of Onward; and two grandchildren, Kevin B. and Kelli A. McNeill, of Atlanta, Ga.

Minister Gary Carpenter will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Onward Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral chapel.

Phillip D. Waltz

ROCHESTER -- Services for Phillip D. Waltz, 64, of 1107 Monroe St., will be held at 6 p.m. today in Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home.

He died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 1999, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

The Rev. Rick Taylor will officiate at the services, which will be followed with military rites by the Rochester American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burial will be made at sea following cremation.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association.

Dale Ray Gibbons

ARGOS -- Dale Ray Gibbons, 48, of Rochester, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 1999, at St. Joseph Hospital Medical Center, South Bend, following an illness.

Arrangements are pending at Grossman Funeral Home.

Vira M. Vibbert

CAMDEN -- Services for Vira M. Vibbert, 83, of Flora, will be held at 7 p.m. today in Cree Funeral Home.

Mrs. Vibbert died at 6:30 a.m. Friday, July 30, 1999, at Brethren Healthcare Center.

Born Sept. 11, 1915, in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Thomas D. and Emily Virginia Cole Jennings. On March 2, 1940, in Summer Shade, Ky., she was married to Frank M. Vibbert, who preceded in death.

She moved to Carroll County in 1945 and has resided at the Brethren Healthcare Center for the past five years.

In 1978, Mrs. Vibbert retired from Camden Elementary School as a cook. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camden and a Golden Mother of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #413.

Surviving are three sons, William E. Vibbert, of Camden, Ernest R. Vibbert, of Sidney, Ohio, and Estal G. Vibbert, of Bringhurst; three daughters, Nomie L. McCarty, of Delphi, Emily L. Sanson, of Monticello, and Bonnie L. Demerly, of Westcliffe, Colo.; three brothers, Bernice Jennings, of Glasgow, Ky., Ray Jennings, of Summer Shade, Ky., and Guy Jennings, of Tompkinsville, Ky.; two sisters, Elsie Norris, of Harriman, Ky., and Irene Crumpton, Myrtle Point, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-granchildren.

Four sisters, two brothers, one son, two daughters, one grandchild and one great-grandchild preceded in death.

The Rev. Ray Herriman will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Shirley Cemetery, Summer Shade, Ky.

Friends may call from 3 p.m. until the time of services today at the funeral home.

Herbert M. Sullivan

PERU -- Services for Herbert M. Sullivan, 81, of Peru, will be held at 7 a.m. today in Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

Mr. Sullivan died at 11:02 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Dukes Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 30, 1918, he was the son of Grover and Bertha Moerick Sullivan. On Feb. 11, 1940, he was married to Olive Jones, who survives.

A 1935 graduate of Duncombe High School, Duncombe, Iowa, he was retired from Thrush Products, Peru.

He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Dale A. and Jayne Sullivan, of Logansport, Paul M. and Pat Sullivan, of St. Charles, Ill., and Frank A. and Linda Sullivan, of Ft. Collins, Colo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Lois A. Diehl and Timothy R. Povlick, of Laguna Nigel, Calif.; two brothers, Wilfred Sullivan, of Oar Harbor, Wash. and Paul Sullivan, Webster City, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Diann Vernon, Julie Taylor, Jennifer Sullivan, Brad Sullivan, Amy Perkins, Michael Sullivan, Michelle Sullivan, Scott Diehl, Rob McDonough and Meg McDonough; and 10 great-grandchildren, Matthew Metz, Luke Vernon, Karlee Vernon, Kailey Vernon, Desiree Taylor, Nicole Taylor, Alex McDonough, Aaron Perkins, Taylor Perkins and Emily Sullivan.

Chaplain Steve Fleck will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery.

Clarence A. Birnell

Services for Clarence A. Birnell, 67, of Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

He died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, in Roudebush V.A. Medical Center, Indianapolis.

Born Sept. 21, 1931, in Cass County, he was the son of Christopher C. and Marilla Birnell.

Mr. Birnell was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He retired after 22 years as wastewater manager for the Bartow, Fla., Municipal Utilities. He attended Pisgah Church and was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.

Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Linda Birnell, Brownsburg; one sister, Eileen Rance, Logansport; one sister-in-law, Gertie Birnell, Walton; 14 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; several stepnieces and nephews; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

One brother, John Birnell, an infant brother, and one sister, Mary Louise Neimann, preceded in death.

The Rev. John Dixon will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
