Cause of Death: Natural Causes

Mrs. Carney was born in Coal County, Oklahoma, on October 29, 1919, a daughter of the late Henry Radcliffe and Mary Flossie (Clark) Nelson.

Mrs. Carney was reared and educated in Coal County, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Lehigh High school in 1937 and received a B.S. in education in 1955 from Southeastern State College in Durant, Oklahoma.

As a school teacher she was employed for one year in Atoka, Oklahoma. She then taught for twenty-one years in Anchorage, Alaska. She taught the third grade at Mountainview, Fairview, and Creek Side Park schools until her retirement in 1978.

Her first marriage was to Ivan Harrison in Oklahoma and they divorced. She was married on June 30, 1960 in Anchorage, Alaska to James “Jimmy” Carney. Mr. Carney survives.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed square dancing, crocheting Afghans, reading, and ceramics.

Private Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2003, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.

No visitation is planned.

Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana is handling arrangements.

1925-2003

Mrs. Nicely was born in Brazil, Indiana on September 20, 1946, and was a daughter of the late John Edward and Carol Jean (Eberle) Muncie. Mrs. Nicely died on June 29, 2003 as a result of complications from diabetes.

Mrs. Nicely was reared and educated in Terre Haute, Indiana where she attended school.

She was married to David L. Nicely on January 7, 1967, in Lebanon, Indiana. Mr. Nicely survives.

She lived most of her life in Lebanon and had also resided in Elkhart, and Indianapolis.

She worked as an assistant manager for McDonald’s in Elkhart for twelve years. In Indianapolis, she first worked for Meijer Supermarkets for seven years, and worked the last four years as the assistant manager in the Deli at Marsh Supermarkets.

In addition to her family, she enjoyed traveling.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation is planned for 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, Indiana.

Place of Death: At Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana

Cause of Death: Natural Causes

Mr. Carr was born in Boone County, Zionsville, Indiana, on January 22, 1925, the son of the late Leonard Franklin and Bessie Edith (Cooper) Carr.

Mr. Carr was reared and educated in the Dover community and had a Thorntown address. He was a 1943 graduate of Dover High School. He served in the U. S. Navy 1943-1946, during World War II. Following service, he attended Purdue University.

He was married to Doris Marie (Walker) Carr in Boone County, Indiana on June 26, 1948. Mrs. Carr survives.

Mr. Carr farmed until 1972. In addition, he had owned the Jamestown Liquor Store 1963-1974. For twenty-six years he was an employee of Detroit Diesel, Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis where he worked in plants, 3, 7, 12, and 14.

Mr. Carr was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In addition to his family he enjoyed fishing, bird watching, and music having played the mandolin.

Interment will follow military rites at the Salem Cemetery near Zionsville, Indiana

Cause of Death: Natural Causes

Mr. Carter was born in Indianapolis (Mars Hill), Indiana on December 14, 1934. He was the son of the late James C. and Nellie (Bell) Carter.

In Indianapolis, Indiana he was married on November 4, 1975, to Ginny Lynn (Bayless) Carter. Mrs. Carter survives.

He was reared and educated in Indianapolis and moved to Mitchell for a few years. He returned to reside in Indianapolis and served in the Indiana National Guard. Since 1976 he resided south of Lebanon.

He was employed in Indianapolis for thirty-five years as a maintenance supervisor for the City of Indianapolis Department of Parks and Recreation. He spent his last 12 years of employment in charge of Eagle Creek Park and retired in 1986.

He enjoyed his family and the out-of-doors. He liked camping, fishing, hunting, bird watching, mowing, and nature.

Funeral Services are to be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at New Brunswick Church of Christ, 6480 South State Road 39, Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation will be held at the church from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008.

Interment will follow at the Robison Cemetery south of Lebanon, Indiana.

Donna Jayne Taylor Cassell

Donna Jayne Cassell, a long time resident of Lebanon, died Thursday morning at Hyde Park Health Center in Cincinnati. She was 83.

A native of Marion County, she was born May 10, 1924 in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Roy Lee and Miriam Elizabeth (Park) Hughes. After living in Cleveland, she moved in 1936 to Mooresville where graduated from Mooresville High School in 1942.

She completed nurses training and graduated from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. In her last years of training, she served as an Army Cadet 1946-1947.

She was married in Lebanon in October 1947 to John William Taylor. Mr. Taylor died on June 6, 1971. She then married Albert William “Bill” Cassell in Lebanon on March 25, 1978. Mr. Cassell died on November 25, 2005.

She worked in the office of Dr. Robert Wiseheart prior to her marriage to Mr. Taylor. Following her marriage, she did some private duty nursing until the time she became the school nurse for the Lebanon Consolidated School System. She retired in 1985 after nineteen years of service to the schools.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her family, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, ceramics, and crafts. She had also traveled extensively including trips to the Holy Lands, Australia, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hawaii, and throughout the United States. She was known by all for her wonderful caring and loving personality and sense of humor and for her ever present smile.

She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon and Presbyterian Women. Among her many services to the church, she was a deacon, taught Sunday School, led the cherub choir in the 1960’s, and participated in numerous Bible study classes. She was an outstanding student of the Bible having taken 5 years of weekly intensive study in Indianapolis. She also was formerly active in Psi Iota Xi Sorority, the Friendly City Garden Club, and Ulen Country Club, where she was an avid golfer and a member of the ladies golf club.

Survivors include a son, Jack Taylor and his wife Janalee of Cincinnati, Ohio; a stepdaughter Kimberlee Cassell of Holland, Michigan; grandchildren J.R. Taylor and Jennifer Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio, Phillip Perkins of Michigan, Michelle Bunting of Tennessee; and a great-grandson Zachary Bunting of Michigan.
Two Sisters, Miriam Elizabeth “Mickey” Ebey and Sue Alice Starkey, are deceased.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church, 128 East Main Street, in Lebanon, Indiana with visitation from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. The Reverend Marsha Brown will officiate. Cremation will precede the service. The ashes are to be interred at Oak Hill Cemetery. Myers Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Lebanon, Indiana 46052 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.

MR. JOHN W. CHAILLE

Place of Death: St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana

Cause of Death: Natural Causes

Mr. Chaille was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on January 23, 1939, the son of the late Albert Bassett and Grace Beatrice (McCloud) Chaille.

He was married on November 1, 1975, in Lebanon to Linda (Rosenberry) Chaille. The couple divorced in 1992.

He was reared and educated in Lebanon where he graduated from Lebanon High School in 1957.

He then entered the U.S. Army, where he served from 1962 until 1964. During his active duty enlistment he trained in electronics and served in the U. S. Special Forces.

He returned from military service to Lebanon and he was self-employed in electronics.

Memberships: He had attended church at the former Walnut Street Baptist Church

Memorial Graveside Services are to be held on July 16, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at Center Cemetery east of Lebanon.

Mrs. Chambers was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on July 7, 1952. She was the daughter of the late Carl I. Shockley and Joyce E. (Pollitt) Shockley who survives.

She was a life resident of Lebanon where she graduated from Lebanon High School in 1970. She attended Indiana University in Indianapolis where she was trained as a dental assistant. She worked for several years for an Indianapolis dentist.

She was married in Lebanon, Indiana, on April 5, 1975, to Terry R. Chambers. Mr. Chambers survives.

Mrs. Chambers was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She worked along with her husband operating Chambers Body Shop in Lebanon since 1984. In addition, she had baked and decorated special occasion cakes for a number of years.

She enjoyed her family and their activities. In addition, she enjoyed the family property on Lake Shafer and activities there. She had enjoyed cooking, baking, bowling, fishing and the out-of-doors.

Memberships: She was baptized at the Pleasant View Church west of Lebanon and initiated into Psi Iota Xi sorority.

Funeral Services are to be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana.
Visitation is planned for Tuesday, September 18, 2007, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
