Place of death: at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana

Cause of Death: Natural Causes

Mr. Clingler was born in Whitestown, Indiana, on December 12, 1913. He was a son of the late Roscoe and Lula (Adair) Clingler.

A life-resident of Boone County, he was raised in the Whitestown community on a farm and lived most of his life in Lebanon. He had served in the Indiana National Guard Unit assigned to the Lebanon Armory.

Mr. Clingler was married on April 2, 1938, in Frankfort, Indiana to Juanita Mae (Hine) Clingler. They divorced in 1966. On July 1, 1967 in Lebanon, Indiana he was married to Demie E. (Owens) Hale. Mrs. Clingler died on March 4, 1994.

Mr. Clingler enjoyed his family, fishing, gardening, and various sports including Nascar, baseball, and basketball.

He had worked in Lebanon and Frankfort prior to his career at Detroit Diesel, Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis. In 1980 he retired there after thirty-four years of service.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation is planned for Monday, February 16, 2004, at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.

Mrs. Cody was born in Lebanon, Indiana on January 21, 1948, the only daughter of the late Robert Hawkins and Josephine “Jo” (Wampler) Hawkins Slagle. Her step father, Keith D. Slagle, is also deceased.

She was a life-resident of Lebanon until 1999 when she and her husband purchased a home in Pahrump, Nevada. She graduated in 1966 from Lebanon High School.

She was married in Lebanon, Indiana on October 28, 1966, to Donald E. Cody. Mr. Cody survives.

Mrs. Cody was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, niece, and homemaker. She enjoyed her family, cooking and baking, bowling, and word games.

Mr. Cody was born in Boone County, Indiana, on December 10, 1919. He was the son of the late William Henderson and Rosetta Inez (Parish) Cody.

He was a life-resident of Boone County. He served in the United States Navy 1942-1945 during World War II.

He was married to Audra Edith (Fine) Cody in Lafayette, Indiana on December 19, 1940. Mrs. Cody died on March 29, 2006.

He was employed at Detroit Diesel, Allison Division of General Motors Corporation 1946-1982 retiring after 32 years of service.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Cody enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Robert N. Coons

Dr. Coons was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on April 1, 1920. He was the son of the late Dr. John D. and Helen F. (Ritchie) Coons.

He was reared and educated in Lebanon, Indiana where he graduated from Lebanon High School. He then graduated from Wabash College at Crawfordsville where he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity. Before he completed his medical studies, he served in the United States Army during World War II. He served from June 1943 Through October 13, 1945 and was wounded in Belgium September 3, 1994 for which he received the Purple Heart and a Silver Star Medal for bravery.

He completed his medical studies in osteopathy in Kirksville, Missouri and served his residency in Lansing, Michigan. He returned to Lebanon where he practiced with his father until his father retired. Dr. Coons was actively practicing at the time of his death assisted by his 28 year office manager Linda Portish.

He was married in Lebanon, Indiana on April 4, 1943, to Norma Jean (Thompson) Coons. They divorced. For twenty five years he was a companion to Joseph Brandon who is deceased.

He served the community in various capacities throughout his career. He was the sports physician for the Lebanon High School for a number of years. He served as the Boone County Health Officer for many years. He took pride in his membership and activity in the Lebanon Rotary Club where he had maintained perfect attendance for fifty-six years. He enjoyed music, singing, playing the piano, and puzzles.

Memberships: St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Indianapolis over twenty-five years where he was a former member of the Pro Musica and an active member of the Choir

MR. ROBERT V. COPELAND

Cause of Death: Natural Causes following an extended illness

Mr. Copeland was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on January 10, 1914, and was the son of the late Benjamin R. and Nora E. (Matthews) Copeland.

He spent his early years in Omaha, and then in 1921 moved to Indianapolis and resided in the Maywood community. He was a graduate of Decatur Central High School. He graduated from DePauw University in 1937. He completed one semester of graduate work at Butler to secure his teaching license. He went on to teach and coach for 1½ years at Arlington High School and in Rush County.

He married Josephine “Jody” (Scott) Copeland on November 23, 1939, in Valley Mills, Indiana. She died on February 25, 1980.

Mr. Copeland was employed at Eli Lilly from 1940. He entered the U. S. Navy during World War II and served overseas. He participated in the D Day invasion at Normandy. He returned to Eli Lilly and Company where he his retired on January 31, 1973, as the manager of office services and printing operations.

The Copeland Scholarship was established in 1989, for students from Lebanon High School to attend DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. Each Copeland scholarship is good for four years of schooling.

Mr. Copeland loved his family and friends. He enjoyed playing golf and travel having visited 49 states.

Mr. Cox was born on May 13, 1935, in Danville, Indiana, the son of the late Walter Clark and Ethel May (Penn) Cox.

He was formerly married divorced.

Mr. Cox lived in Danville, Indiana where he started school. He then moved to Indianapolis where he attended Ben Davis Grade School and Warren Central High School. He had also resided in Bloomfield and Lizton prior to his return to Indianapolis.

He entered the U. S. Army in 1954 and served during Korean Conflict in the 451st Artillery Battalion until 1957.

For six years he was a department head at the Beverage Paper Company in Indianapolis. He then worked for AMCO Elevator Company in Indianapolis for twenty-eight years as an elevator mechanic for passenger and freight elevators. Following his retirement in 1995, he had held various part time positions.

In addition to his work, he enjoyed his family and friends as well as bowling.

Funeral Services are planned for 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 8, 2003 at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street in Lebanon, Indiana.

Interment will follow at the Browns Wonder Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana with military rites at the grave.

Visitation is planned for 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2003, at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.
