Date of Death: Monday, April 12, 2004, 3:20 p.m.

Place of Death: Hickory Creek at Lebanon, Lebanon, Indiana

Cause of Death: Natural causes following and extended illness

Mrs. English was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on September 9, 1910, the daughter of the late Truman O. “Jack” and Carrie Avalyn (McKey) Edwards.

Mrs. English was a 1928 graduate of Lebanon High School. In Indianapolis, she graduated in 1929 from the Central Business College.

She spent most of her life in Lebanon with the exception of a year in Michigan City and two years spent in Chrisman, Illinois.

She was married to Herman English in Lebanon on November 10, 1934 and he died in 1962.

Mrs. English was a clerical worker and held positions in Lebanon at Commercial Filters Corporation, Pioneer Equitable Insurance Company, and Citizens Bank and Trust Company. She spent twenty-three years as an executive secretary for Howard Cunningham at Shumate Business Forms where she retired in 1975.

Mrs. English was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed her family and cooking.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2004, at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon Lebanon from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.

MR. ROBERT D. ERVIN

NAME: Mr. Robert Dean Ervin Age: 80 Married

City of Residence: 817 Claiborne Lane, Lebanon, Indiana

Date of Death: Sunday, September 12, 2004, at 5:30 a.m.

Place of Death: At Parkwood Health Care Center in Lebanon, Indiana

Cause of Death: Natural Causes following an extended illness

Mr. Ervin was born in Coulterville, Illinois, on December 21, 1923, the son of the late William Ward and Ruth Belle (Jeffers) Ervin.

Mr. Ervin was reared and educated in Illinois until 1932. He resided in Washington, D.C., Dwight, Illinois, and Indianapolis where he graduated from Shortridge High School in 1941. He studied at Drew’s Business College in St. Cloud, Minnesota for two years.

On November 26, 1943 in St. Cloud, Minnesota he was married to Joyce Avril (Armagost) Ervin. Mrs. Ervin survives.

A decorated war veteran, Mr. Ervin entered the U.S. Navy in November 1943 and served during World War II in China until discharge in November 1945.

Following World War II, Mr. Ervin worked two years for the North Atlantic Construction Company based in Greenland. In New York he was involved in J. W. Ryan Construction Company and worked in Indianapolis. He also held several positions in Indianapolis as a pharmacy employee and in the tire and rubber industry. In Lebanon he became a postal worker and worked 1966 to retirement in 1985. Following retirement he had a business selling postal uniforms.

Mr. Ervin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In addition to his family he enjoyed fishing, football, reading, and travel.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2625 Elm Swamp Road, Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation is immediately following the service in the community room of the church.

Cremation is entrusted to Myers Mortuary and military rites will follow the services at the church. The ashes will be entombed at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Columbarium in Lebanon.

Harold J. Fairfield

1919-2003

Mr. Fairfield was born in Clinton County, Colfax, Indiana, on August 3, 1919. He was a son of the late James William and Maude (Booher) Fairfield.

He was reared in the Colfax community and was a longtime Thorntown resident.

Mr. Fairfield worked in the CCC Camps for periods prior to entering the U.S. Army during WWII. He returned to live in Thorntown and was a Stewart-Warner employee in Lebanon for thirty-five years. Following the closing of the Stewart-Warner plant in Lebanon, he worked for twenty years as a truck driver making deliveries in the central Indiana area.

He moved to New Ross in 1994 and then in July 1997 to California.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2003, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Darlington, Indiana.

No Visitation is planned.

Myers Mortuary in Lebanon is handling arrangements.

Sue Ann Fairfield

Sue Ann Fairfield, 63, of Lebanon, passed away at her home on December 10, 2007 following an extended illness.

Sue was born on May 8, 1944, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Joseph and Martha (Bennett) Loftus. She was reared in Ingalls, Indiana and attended Scecina High School. Sue retired as a Dietary Manager from Essex Nursing Home in 1988. She belonged to the Thorntown American Legion Auxiliary and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Sue was formerly married to Ron Thorpe, who preceded her in death, Earl Nichols and Jerry Fairfield who survives.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her family and was known for her bright eyes and beautiful smile. She was a compassionate, generous and tenderhearted woman known for her concern and the help she provided for others. She enjoyed her grandchildren, sewing, crafts and fishing.

Additional survivors include one daughter, Tammy Rose and husband, Randy of Lebanon, one son, Ron Thorpe and wife, Karen of Bargersville; one brother Charles Loftus and wife, Rosie of Anderson, Indiana; four sisters, Barbara Likens and husband, Tim of Anderson, Nancy Neff and husband, Ace of Daleville, Indiana, Michelle Grills and husband, Rick of Anderson, Mary Avalof and husband, Jerry of Anderson, Indiana four grandchildren, Abi and Alex Rose of Lebanon, Karlie Thorpe and David Morris of Bargersville; and 11 nieces and nephews.

Visitation is planned from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon.
Officiating for the Funeral Service will be Deacon Patrick Gallagher and Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 East South Street, in Lebanon.
Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, 935 East Washington Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or Boone County Cancer Society.

Marvin J. Evans
NAME: Mr. Marvin J. Evans Age: 64 Married

Cause of Death: Natural Causes

Mr. Evans was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on June 10, 1943. He was the son of the late Arthur J. and Mary Louise (Rader) Evans.

He was a long time resident of Boone County and graduated from Dover High School in 1961. He attended Purdue University in West Lafayette and Lane Technical Institute in Indianapolis. In school he was active in sports and an avid baseball player. He was recruited by the Washington Senators.

He was married to Karen J. (Shoaf) Evans in December 28, 1963, in Advance. Mrs. Evans survives.

As an engineer, he was employed at Stark and Wetzel in Indianapolis. He then worked in the Indianapolis office of the Michigan firm of Rapistan. He became self-employed and operated E & H Handling Systems of New Ross. For a number of years, he operated Boone County Handling Systems until he retired in 2004, remaining semi active until his death.

He was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed his family, boating and cooking.

Visitation will be held at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2007.
Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Boone County, Indiana.
Masonic Services will be held at Myers Mortuary at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 26th.

MR. JAMES GORDON EVANS

NAME: Mr. James Gordon Evans Age: 91 Widowed

Date of Death: Saturday, February 7, 2004, at 11:4 a.m.

Place of Death: At his residence in Lebanon

Cause of Death: Natural Causes

Mr. Evans was born in Mamouth Springs, Arkansas, February 18, 1912, the son of the late James Ernest and Ida Vandora (Howard) Evans.

Mr. Evans spent his younger years and was educated in Arkansas. He moved to Lebanon in 1955.

He was married on October 24, 1931 to Captola Jane (Riden) Evans. Mrs. Evans died on March 7, 1984.

He worked as a mechanic by trade and had worked at several car dealerships and John Deere Tractor Company. Also, he had farmed and worked at Eagle Creek Nursery for a time. He retired in 1977 from Stewart Warner Corporation in Lebanon after twelve years of service. During retirement he worked at Indiana Christian Retirement Center and had a lawn mower repair business until 1999.

Mr. Evans enjoyed his family, his dog, Toby, music, and was an avid gardener. In addition, he enjoyed following his grandchildren and great grandchildren in their activities.

Officiating: Rev. Steve Jaggers

Funeral Services will be held at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana, on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at 1:00 p.m.

Visitation is planned for Monday, February 9, 2004, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
