Flora M. Beery

1928-2003

Born in Union Township of Boone County, Indiana on May 23, 1928, Mrs. Beery was the daughter of the late Ernest Francis and Alma Ruth (Smith) Jones.

Mrs. Beery graduated from Whitestown High School in 1946. She lived most of her life in the Whitestown community of Boone County and since November 1992 at the present address in Lebanon.

She was married to Robert Leon Beery on May 5, 1950 in Lebanon, Indiana. Mr. Beery died on May 30, 1992.

Mrs. Beery had been a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She had been employed for periods in the catalog department at Montgomery Ward in Lebanon; Jones Greenhouse at Gadsden; and the Rosston Elevator.

She enjoyed her family, children, and grandchildren and reading, flowers, and gardening.

Officiating: Rev. Howard Barefoot

Funeral Services are planned for Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 30, 2003, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.

Mrs. Flores was born in Lebanon, Indiana on January 16, 1968. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Magadlene (Day) Flores.

She was a life resident of Lebanon and worked for nine years at Purity until she retired recently due to her health.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed her family and their activities. She liked to play Bingo and to do word search puzzles.

Funeral Services are to be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana.

Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lebanon.

Richard Rex "Dick" Ford
NAME: Mr. Richard Rex “Dick” Ford Age: 71 Widowed

Date of Death: Wednesday, February 20, 2008

Place of Death: St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana

Mr. Ford was born in Lebanon, Indiana on October 11, 1936, the son of the late Emory and Sarah (Ray) Ford.

He was married to Pauline Rose (Bregg) Ford, on August 6, 1955 in Lebanon. Mrs. Ford died on March 2, 2000.

Mr. Ford was reared and educated in the Advance Community and was a 1954 graduate of Lebanon High School. He attended Pikes Peak Community College 1973-1974.

He resided in Colorado Springs, Colorado 1972-1982 and returned to Indiana to reside in Crawfordsville. Since 2004 he lived in Lebanon.

Mr. Ford worked in banking in Indianapolis for American Fletcher National Bank and in Sheridan at American State Bank. The Ford family moved to Colorado Springs and there he and Mrs. Ford owned and operated Peak Doll Enterprises. They returned to reside in Crawfordsville and he worked as a finance manager in auto dealerships there. He then entered the field of Residential Real Estate and worked the past fifteen years as an agent.

Mr. Ford was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his family, sports, and working as a volunteer at sporting events.

Officiating: Rev. Mike Whitaker

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2008, at the Advance Community Church, in Advance, Indiana.

Visitation is planned on Friday, February 22, 2008, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Advance Community Church.

Myers Mortuary is entrusted with arrangements.

Interment will follow at the Pisgah Cemetery in Montgomery County.

Max P. Foreman

1927-2003

Mr. Foreman was born in Middlefork, Indiana on December 12, 1927, the son of the late Paul Keith and Dollie Catherine (Jeffers) Foreman.

Mr. Foreman graduated from Forest High School in 1945. He also attended the American Institute of Banking from 1964-1978 where he completed various courses.

He married Beverly G. (Timmons) Foreman on April 3, 1949, in Michigantown, Indiana. Mrs. Foreman survives.

He served in the Indiana Guard Reserves for 10 years where he achieved the rank of Major.

He retired from Boone County State Bank in Lebanon following 27 years of service. He held various positions including Head Bookkeeper, Cashier, Loan Department, Branch Manager, and Assistant Vice President. During his retirement, he worked for Crane Nursery and Myers Mortuary in Lebanon and Indianapolis Car Exchange near Whitestown.

Prior to working at the bank, he worked at Delco Radio in Kokomo, Genda Motor Sales & Service in Frankfort, Cross Transit and Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo. From 1953-1961, he owned Foreman’s Shell Service in Lebanon. During that time he also worked for the Lebanon Police Department. He then worked for Cardair, a division of Marmon Harrington in Lebanon and Prudential Insurance Company in Indianapolis.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he enjoyed his work, fishing, cooking, and their home, having built their present home.

Memberships: Central Christian Church in Lebanon, Indiana, where he held various offices including Deacon, Elder, Chairman of Stewardship & Personnel

Life-member of Elks Lodge where he was a past Exalted Ruler in 1970 and served

as trustee for six years and served on many committees.

Funeral Services will be held at Central Christian Church, 311 East Main Street, Lebanon, Indiana, on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at 10:30 a.m.

Visitation is planned for Monday, September 15, 2003, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana, with Elks Rites at 8:00 p.m. and Masonic Services at 8:30 p.m.

Entombment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, Indiana.

Several nieces and nephews survive.

Deceased are two brothers, Harry V. Foreman and Ralph C. Foreman, and a sister that died in infancy, Helen Foreman.

Cause of death: Natural Causes following an extended illness

Mrs. Franklin was born in New Ross, Indiana, on August 16, 1922. She was a daughter of the late Walter S. and Merle Catherine (Shahan) Whitecotton.

Mrs. Franklin was raised in New Ross and she graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1940. She attended Mount St. Joseph College in Cincinnati, Ohio for two years; St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis where she completed training as a Registered Nurse; then she returned to Mount St. Joseph College and completed her B.S. Degree in 1946.

She was married in Crawfordsville, Indiana, on August 9, 1947, to William E. Franklin. Mr. Franklin survives.

She lived in Crawfordsville following her marriage and worked as assistant director of nursing at the Culver Hospital there. The family moved to the present farm in the spring of 1949, and she did private duty nursing at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon for a period of time before concentrating on her home and family as a homemaker.

Mrs. Franklin was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed her family and friends, reading, crossword puzzles, jig saw puzzles, and sports-basketball and football.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 16, 2003, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.

Vigil Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2003, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon.

Marguerite Franklin
Marguerite Franklin, 95, of Lebanon and formerly of Indianapolis died January 20, 2008. She was born July 8, 1912, in Amity, IN, the daughter of O. J. and Orpha Shumway. They preceded her in death as did a brother, Jack L. Shumway. She graduated from Franklin High School and John Herron Art School.

In 1937 she married William Hutchings Franklin and they made their home in Indianapolis. Mr. Franklin died Dec. 9, 1968.

Mrs. Franklin operated a day care in her home for 28 years retiring in 1979. All children were a joy in her life and she influenced many with her Christian values, encouraging daily prayer and songs of praise to her young charges.

Artistically creative, she encouraged and instructed her children and grandchildren in the arts.

She was a Girl Scout leader, an excellent seamstress and took pride in her home of 55 years in the Meridian-Kessler area.

She was a member of First Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and served as Sunday School Superintendent, teacher, deacon, elder and held many offices in Presbyterian Women’s organization. She was especially proud of being honored as P.W. woman of the year. She also organized and served wedding receptions at the church before wedding planners were the norm.

Marguerite’s family and church were always her focus. She enjoyed antiques, exquisite china, fine crystal, delicate and hand sewn linens, dolls of any description, fat babies and springtime in Indiana.

In her later years she moved to Lebanon where she became a member of First Presbyterian Church and its Friendship Circle.

She is survived by daughters, Ann C. Helms (Tom) of Shelbyville, IN and Sue Torrance (Bruce) of Lebanon, IN, grandchildren Carmen Bailey, LeeAnn and Brian (Kelly) Meyer, Ron Chapman (Nancy), Andrew Chapman (Leanne); Great Grandchildren Alicia Martig (Daniel), Mark and Mara Meyer-Malian, Sarah Meyer, Jacob Ethan, Ben and Emma Chapman, Clay, Lauren and Lilly Chapman; Great Great Grandson Peston Meyer; numerous step-grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Services are at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon on Thursday, Jan. 24, at 11:00 a.m. with Visitation an hour prior to the service.

Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin.

Memorials contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Lebanon and its Presbyterian Women’s Group.
