Leroy F. Ammerman

PERU -- Services for Leroy F. Ammerman, 15, of Rural Route 2, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. John's Lutheran Church.

He died at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, in Dukes Memorial Hospital following an auto accident.

Pastor Philip Krupski will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

Reba Isley

AKRON -- Services for Reba Isley, 87, of Gardens Apartments, Akron, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Foster & Good Funeral Home.

She died at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.

Burial will be in Athens Cemetery, Athens.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Clyde E. McKim

Services for Clyde E. McKim, 85, of Logansport, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel.

He died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, in Miller's Merry Manor.

Born Feb. 19, 1914, in Bellevue, Ky., he was the son of Earl Bain and Esther Heckle McKim. On Nov. 13, 1944, in St. Agnes Church, Cleveland, Ohio, he was married to Anna D. Mallon, who survives.

Mr. McKim was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a member of the Walton American Legion.

He retired in 1979 from Exide Corporation in Logansport, where he had been a supervisor.

Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Richard "Rick" and Susan McKim, Fort Wayne, and four grandsons, Ben, Alex, Jacob and David.

One sister, Helen Burg, preceded in death.

The Rev. Art Maloney will officiate at the services. Burial, with military honors, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour before the services in the cemetery chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Kroeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sharon Rose 'Sherri' Murphy

Services for Sharon Rose "Sherri" Murphy, 54, of Indianapolis, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel.

She died at 3 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, in Community Hospital East, Indianapolis.

Born May 2, 1945, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Louis D. and Helen Irene Miller Murphy. Her mother survives in Logansport.

A 1963 Logansport High School graduate and a 1964 Fort Wayne Business College graduate, she was employed by Educational Financial Services Corp. in Indianapolis and attended the Methodist Church of Indianapolis.

Also surviving are one brother, Charles Shrock, Logansport; four nieces, Kathy Rozzi, Jennie Vietti and Valarie Bonitatibus, all of Logansport, and Tavish Smith, Cocoa Beach, Fla.; one nephew, Scott Kraud, Logansport; and her friend, Jim Hotler, Indianapolis.

The Rev. Don Ruhl will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour before the services Wednesday in the cemetery chapel.

Marocco Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William H. Scherer

Services for William H. Scherer, 79, of Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Kroeger Funeral Home.

He died at 6:47 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 19, 1919, in Cass County, he was the son of Henry J. and Katherine Mueller Scherer. He was married Oct. 9, 1954, in Logansport, to Freda Schukofski, who survives.

Mr. Scherer had been employed at United Technologies from 1939 to 1985 and was also a farmer and member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

A U.S. Army veteran, he had served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a lifetime member of both the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Colleen Scherer, Warsaw; one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Kent Alder, Indianapolis; one brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Joan Scherer, Logansport; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Robert Crispen, Logansport; five grandchildren, Hayley Alder, Samuel Alder, Jennifer Scherer, Megan Scherer and Bradley Scherer; and several nieces and nephews.

One brother, George Scherer, preceded in death.

Pastor David Ylvisaker will officiate at the services. Burial, with military honors, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, where a Trinity Lutheran Church Council Service will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Cancer Society.

John Rolland Sholty Sr.

PERU -- Services for John Rolland Sholty Sr., 62, of 630 E. Fifth St., will be held at 2 p.m. today in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

Mr. Sholty died at 7 a.m. Friday, Aug. 6,1999, in Dukes Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 2,1936, in Logansport, he was the son of John A. and Kathryn N. Byers Sholty. On Sept. 10, 1958, he was married to Milagros Delos Santos, who survives.

Mr. Sholty graduated from Peru High School in 1954, earned an associate of science degree from New York State University and took courses through Ball State University.

He entered the U.S. Navy and remained in service until Oct. 19, 1984, when he retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer. His military decorations included five Navy achievement medals, Navy Expeditionary Medal (Indian Ocean), China Service Medal, seven good conduct medals and several commendations.

From June 1985 until Feb. 1996, he worked as a communications specialist GS-11 at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane. He took early retirement to go on the Indiana heart transplant list.

Mr. Sholty was past master of F&A Masonic Lodge No. 166, Newberry, past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 14, and a member of 40/8 Voiture No. 1014 and Moose Lodge No. 249, all in Peru. He was also a member of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and a charter member of the Naval Radioman Association.

Also surviving are his mother, Peru; one daughter and her husband, Puriza and Russell Warywoda, Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; four sons and daughters-in-law, John and Barbara Sholty Jr., Victorville, Calif., Michael and Shirley Sholty, San Diego, Calif., Glenn and Melissa Sholty, Peru, and Arturo and Mila Delos Santos, San Diego, Calif.; three brothers, Terry Sholty, Boonsboro, Md., Danny Sholty, Peru, and William Sholty, Kokomo; one sister, Nyla Kay, Durham, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Dean Fager will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home.

William 'Troy' Treece

DELPHI -- Services for William "Troy" Treece, 70, of 518 N. Indiana St., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Horn-Davidson Funeral Home.

He died at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 1999, in Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio.

The Rev. Mark Ellcessor will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum, West Lafayette.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Ernest A. Jones

Services for Ernest Arvel Jones, 97, of Logansport, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Kroeger Funeral Home.

He died at 2:59 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 20, 1901, in Silver Point, Tenn., he was the son of Poley and Mary Magdalene "Maggie" Maxwell Jones. In November of 1924 he was married to Edith Della Carter, who died Sept. 10, 1992.

Mr. Jones was a self-employed union carpenter and was well known as an excellent craftsman with wood. He was a member of Yorktown Road Church of Christ.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Maxie L. and Virginia Jones, and Henry P. "Pete" and Mildred Jones, all of Logansport, and Richard L. and Elaine Jones, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Florence Gracie and Lester West, and Brenda K. and Garry Hollis, all of Logansport; two brothers, Vinson S. Jones, Mt. Vernon, Wash., and Ruben Jones, Logansport; one sister, Beatrice Huddleston, Delphi; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A daughter, four brothers and three sisters preceded in death.

Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Yorktown Road Church of Christ.

Norma M. Allen

Norma M. Allen, 79, of Logansport, died at 6:20 a.m. today in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Arrangements are pending at Kroeger Funeral Home.

Estella L. Frain

WINAMAC -- Graveside services for Estella Lucille Frain, 86, of 515 E. 13th St., will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Winamac Cemetery.

She died at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, in ExtendaCare of Winamac, following a long illness.

Born May 12, 1913, in Winamac, she was the daughter of Charles W. and Susan Trapp Zellers. On Feb. 23, 1946, also in Winamac, she was married to Arlis H. Frain, who died Aug. 15, 1982.

Mrs. Frain was a homemaker and the former co-owner of the City Meat Market in Winamac. She was a member of First Christian Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, both in Winamac.

Surviving are two sons, Gregory C. Frain, Winamac, and Jeffrey A. Frain, Hastings, Fla.; one sister, Olive Smrt, North Judson; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

One sister, Helen Bartlett, and one brother, Charles R. Zellers Sr., preceded in death.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Frain Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Anna Mae Henderson

Services for Anna Mae Henderson, 80, of 1328 Short St., will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home, and graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mount Hope Cemetery.

She died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, in her residence.

Born June 10, 1919, in Burrows, she was the daughter of Lawrence E. and Alta V. Chrisman Ogborn. On Sept. 20, 1971, in Logansport, she was married to John D. Henderson, who died April 12, 1991.

Mrs. Henderson was retired from Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and dearly loved her cat Bootsie.

Surviving are a sister, Lela Hanna, Delaware, Ohio, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Two sisters, Naomi Ogborn and Ruth Rombold, and one brother, John W. Ogborn, preceded in death.

Dr. Horace Smith will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Norma M. Allen

Services for Norma M. Allen, 79, of Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kroeger Funeral Home.

She died at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born July 14, 1920, in Logansport, she was the daughter of George and Fawn Bugsby Leffert. On June 2, 1941, in LaPorte, she was married to Calvin H. "Andy" Allen, who died Feb. 5, 1993.

A homemaker, Mrs. Allen enjoyed gardening. She was an artist and a member of the Logansport Art Association. She was well known for her parties.

Mrs. Allen was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael J. and Millie Allen, Logansport, and Jerry N. Allen, Delphi; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Kelley, Logansport; two granddaughters and their husbands, Laura Burgess Graham and Scott Graham, Nashville, Tenn., and Shannon and Shawn Evans, Delphi; two great-grandchildren, Shane Evans and Hannah Evans; and several nieces and nephews.

Pastor Marvin Hinkle will officiate at the services. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Robert John

MONTICELLO -- Graveside services for Robert John, 78, of Hilton Head, S.C., formerly of Rockfield, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Rockfield Cemetery.

He died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, in Life Care Nursing Home, Hilton Head.

There will be no visitation.

Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert D. DeLawter

PERU -- Services for Robert David DeLawter, 53, of Rural Route 3, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

He died at 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, in Dukes Memorial Hospital.

Dr. E. Dean Fager will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Cass County.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

William W. Huffman

PERU -- Services for William W. Huffman, 62, of 317 Blair Pike, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

He died at 4:42 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Chaplain Steve Fleck will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Paw Paw Cemetery, Miami County.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
