Donald Christian Peetz

NAME: Mr. Donald Christian Peetz Age: 89 Married

Date of Death: Friday, May 16, 2008, at 9:50 p.m.

Place of Death: St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana

Cause of Death: Natural Causes

Donald Christian Peetz was born in Napoleon, Indiana on June 1, 1918. He was the son of the late Henry John and Emma Mary (Fruechpuichp) Peetz.

In Whitestown, Indiana, on April 22, 1939, he was married to Martha June (Staton) Peetz. Mrs. Peetz survives.

His family moved to Boone County in 1930 where he had since resided. He graduated from Lebanon High School.

He farmed all of his life as well as having a dairy herd many of those years. In addition he held several other positions as he farmed. He worked at the Hicks Body Company, was a carpenter with his father-in-law, Grover Staton, for several years in the 1950’s he drove a school bus, and he was a clerk at Big R. He was active in farming until he retired about 1980.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His favorite past times included activities with antique farming equipment. He was one of the founding members of the Boone County Antique Tractor and Machinery Club. He was the last living member of the Indiana State Fair Antique Show. He took pride in his restorations and enjoyed showing them frequently. He was seen annually in the 4th of July Parade and the Boone County 4-H Parade as well as other area events. An avid hunter, each year he enjoyed the deer season.

Funeral services will be held at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008.

Visitation will be at Myers Mortuary from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 21, 2008.

Interment will be at the Mts. Runn Cemetery in Boone County, Indiana.

Date of Death: Monday, February 4, 2008, at 8:30 p.m.

Place of Death: At Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon, Indiana

Cause of Death: Natural Causes

Mrs. Peters was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 27, 1924, the daughter of the late Russell Keith and Wretha Ellen (Young) Carney.

A life resident of Boone County, Mrs. Peters was reared and educated in the Elizaville and Kirklin area of Boone County and graduated from Kirklin High School in 1942.

She was married to Rayburn Ernest Peters in Missouri on November 27, 1942. Mr. Peters survives.

She worked as an employee of Honan and Crane several years. Following a period at home as a mother, she returned to work as an underwriter at Western Fire and Casualty Insurance Company in Lebanon where she retired in the mid 1980’s.

She enjoyed her family, reading, and crossword puzzles.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.

MR. MARK S. PHELPS

Mark S. Phelps died on January 20, 2004, at Witham Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, Indiana. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Dr. William J. Phelps, in 1963. Mark is survived by his mother, Betty Quick Phleps Crain and stepfather, Edward F. Crain, aunts: Helen Johnson, Beulah Bishop, and Barbara Quick, uncles: Lloyd Quick and wife, Shirley Quick, Charles Quick and wife, Norma Quick, all of Lebanon and Robert Quick and wife, Jane Quick, of Boerne, Texas. He had many, many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mark had worked in the Boone County Workshop and ARC program for 32 years and was one of the original group of clients in the workshop at is inception in Lebanon. He also participated in the Special Olympics program for over 25 years and had won numerous gold medals in field and track, swimming, softball, and bowling. His highlight in Special Olympics was winning a gold medal at the national meet in 1975.

He was an avid walleye fisherman and loved the fishing trips to Canada with his Mom and Dad. Mark also enjoyed playing pool on his table and was sometimes called “Mark the Pool Shark” by the players he beat. Along with his love for basketball, football, and country music, he lived a wonderful and challenging life; never meeting a stranger and making friends wherever he went. In life and death the Special Olympics oath, “let me win and if I can not win, let me be brave in the attempt” never rang more true than for Mark. He was also a member of the Central Christian Church in Lebanon.

Mr. Phelps was born in Lebanon, Indiana on March 15, 1953.

Mrs. Pierce was born in Rock Castle County, Kentucky, on March 16, 1939, the daughter of the late George Grover and Lucy Zelma (Miller) Childress.

Mrs. Pierce was reared and educated in Lebanon, Indiana, where she attended Lebanon High School. She moved from Lebanon at age twenty-five to live in Tennessee.

Mrs. Pierce was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed her family.

Funeral Services are to be held on Friday, July 23, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation will be held at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon from noon to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2004.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, in Lebanon, Indiana

David M. Plankey

1963-2003

Mr. Plankey was born in Gary, Indiana on June 21, 1963, the son of Catherine A. (Matthews) Plankey of Michigan City and the late Ronald J. Plankey.

Mr. Plankey was reared and educated in Gary and Hobart, Indiana. He graduated from Hobart High School in 1981. He attended Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana and received a B.S. Degree in Business in 1985.

While in college, he was enrolled in the Army R.O.T.C. program. He served in the U.S. Army as a Captain 1981-1986.

He was married in Whitestown, Indiana in 1985 to Shari L. (Nelson) and they divorced in 1998. He was married in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 15, 2003 to Harriett Ann (Cook) Plankey. Mrs. Plankey survives.

After college graduation he resided in Bloomington until he was assigned to active duty in the U.S. Army in Germany. He lived in Germany for three years and returned to live in the Whitestown area in following discharge in 1986. He farmed with his father-in-law, William L. Myers for seven years. The past several years he has worked as a retail manager for Menard’s Inc. at the Indianapolis Gateway Drive location.

He enjoyed his family and sports including basketball, baseball, football, and fishing.

Funeral Services will be held at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 North Lebanon Street, Lebanon, Indiana, on Sunday, October 12, 2003 at 4:00 p.m.

Visitation is planned for Sunday, October 12, 2003, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary in Lebanon, Indiana.

Visitation will be held at the Burns Funeral Home in Hobart on Monday, October 13, 2003, prior to services at the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Hobart.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Hobart, Indiana.

Mrs. Porter was born in Marion Township, Boone County, Indiana, on June 19, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Elza Buren and Ruby Alma (Thompson) Campbell.

Mrs. Porter was reared in Marion Township, and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1937. She attended Beauty College and worked as a beautician in the Hick Beauty Shop in Lebanon, in Sheridan, and operated her own shop in Lebanon about ten years.

She was married in Lebanon, Indiana to Lee B. Porter on August 15, 1947. Mr. Porter died on June 22, 1994.

She was a devoted wife, and homemaker who enjoyed her family and friends. She also enjoyed playing bridge. She was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross, Homewood Health Campus, and CrownPointe Senior Living Center. She and Mr. Porter enjoyed traveling and had truly “Seen the U.S.A. in their Chevrolet.”
