Maxine C. Verrier

Memorial services for Maxine C. Verrier, 81, of Logansport, formerly of Tucson, Ariz., will be held at a later date in Tucson.

She died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 12, 1917, in Fulton County, she was the daughter of Albert and Belle Ressler Cox. She was married to Charles Verrier, who died in March 1998.

Mrs. Verrier managed the Red Coach Restaurant in Peru and also had been employed at the Peru Elks. During World War II, she owned and operated Maxine's Steak House in Logansport.

Surviving are a brother, Ted Cox, Akron; two sisters, Monell Klotz, Logansport, and Jeannie Jones, Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Octava Paul, preceded in death.

Burial will be in Tucson.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic School.

Kroeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harry 'Ed' Dimick

INDIANAPOLIS -- Memorial services for Harry "Ed" Dimick, 68, of Indianapolis, formerly of Logansport, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Flanner & Buchanan Lawrence Mortuary.

He died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, in Roudebush Veterans Administration Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born Feb. 23, 1931, Mr. Dimick was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean War.

He formerly owned Richardson Cleaners in Logansport, retiring from the business in 1972. He was also a member of the Exchange Club of Logansport.

Surviving are his wife, Wanita "Candy" (Bowen) Dimick; five children, Susan Berkshire, Karen Gutowsky, and Michael, Roy and John Dimick; one brother, Harold "Buddy" Dimick; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home, 5215 N. Shadeland, Indianapolis. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Florence M. Cunningham

KEWANNA -- Florence M. Cunningham, 94, of Grass Creek, died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday in Carondelete Manor Nursing Home, Kansas City, Mo.

Arrangements are pending at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.

Franklin 'Frank' D. Zvorak

Franklin "Frank" D. Zvorak, 62, of 490 Edinburgh Ave., Marion, Iowa, died at 4:30 a.m. today in his residence.

Arrangements are pending at McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.

Harold D. Hunt

MONTICELLO -- Services for Harold D. Hunt, 75, of 309 S. Main St., Idaville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Zion Bethel Church.

He died at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, in Idaville.

Born Oct. 13, 1923, in White County, he was the son of Charles A. and Blanche Leona Burns Hunt. On Dec. 12, 1943, also in White County, he was married to Betty B. Baer, who survives.

Mr. Hunt was a 1942 graduate of Idaville High School and lived and farmed in the Idaville area all his life.

He was a member of the Zion Bethel Church and the Monticello Gideons.

Also surviving are two daughters, Charlene G. (Hay) McLean, Idaville, and Paulette Brickey, Lafayette; three sons, Larry D. Hunt, Logansport, Randy E. Hunt, Idaville, and Rick D. Hunt, Georgetown; three sisters, Geraldine H. Zeek, Gas City, Betty E. Clark, Burnettsville, and Shirley A. Stuhmer, Aurora, Colo.; two brothers, C. Martin Hunt and Jim E. Hunt, both of Idaville; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

A son, grandson and three brothers preceded in death.

The Rev. Jeff Messer will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Pipe Creek Cemetery, Monticello.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home and one hour before services Monday in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Monticello Gideons.

Franklin D. ‘Frank’ Zvorak

Services for Franklin D. "Frank" Zvorak, 62, of 490 Edinburgh Ave., Marion, Iowa, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home.

He died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, in his residence.

Born Sept. 21, 1936, in Howard, S.D., he was the son of Arthur and Nettie Dale Zvorak. On Oct. 23, 1958, at Grissom Air Force Base, he was married to Bonita J. "Bonnie" Parkins, who survives.

Mr. Zvorak retired in 1981 from the U.S. Air Force and retired also from Rockwell Collins.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 788 of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Madison Elks Lodge No. 1442 of Madison, S.D., and Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cedar Rapids.

Also surviving are a son, W. Barry Zvorak and his friend Vicky Snell, Marion, Iowa; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia J. and James Welch, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; three sisters, Alda Jansen, Phyllis Coburn and Betty King, all of Tacoma, Wash.; three brothers, Dean Zvorak and Dale Zvorak, Tacoma, and Duane Zvorak, Simi Valley, Calif.; two grandchildren, Christina Lin Poole and Eric Michael Crabbe, both of Lee’s Summit; his mother-in-law, Blanche Parkins, Logansport; and several cousins.

The Rev. Donald L. Ruhl will officiate at the services. Burial, with military honors, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund, 2900 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402.

Florence Foster Adair

Memorial services for Florence Foster Adair, 82, of Slidell, La., will be scheduled at a later date in Logansport.

She died Thursday, Aug. 5, 1999, in Green-Briar Nursing Home in Slidell.

Born Sept. 13, 1916, in Logansport, she was the daughter of V.E. and Loretta Welch Foster . On July 6, 1938, also in Logansport, she was married to Don Adair, who died Sept. 4, 1970.

Mrs. Adair was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Marsha Adair and Caroline Ellzey, both of Slidell, La.; one son, Mike Adair, Walton, three brothers, Bud Foster , Lake Placid, Fla., Ed Foster , Naples, Fla., and Al Foster , Logansport; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A son, a sister and two brothers preceded in death.

Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Kroeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Taylor

Services for Evelyn Taylor, 76, Chase Center, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Marocco Funeral Chapel.

She died at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, in Chase Center.

She was born March 3, 1923, in Overland, Mo., and was a homemaker.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel Taylor, Francesville, and Allen Taylor; and one grandson, Ryan Taylor, Knox.

The Rev. Art Maloney will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour before the service in the funeral chapel.

Leon L. Hinkle

MARION -- Services for Leon L. Hinkle, 77, of 2620 W. Ticonderoga Drive, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Marion First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.

He died Friday, Aug. 13, 199, in Bradner Village Health Care Center.

Born Dec. 3, 1921, in Cass County, he moved to Marion with his wife, Maridean, in 1945.

Mr. Hinkle was a purchasing agent for Dana Corp. for 35 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where he served as a deacon and attended the Crusaders Class. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 737.

He had a gift and talent for working with wood. He built his home, and had also remodeled and repaired several homes in Marion.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II.

Surviving are his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Barbara Hinkle, Greenwood; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marlene and Lawrence Lux, Carmel, and Nancy Hinkle and Carol and Robert Stimac, all of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Jeff Smith will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park in Marion.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Raven Funeral Home, 1202 Kem Road, where a Masonic service will be held at 3:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House and to the First Christian Church Building Fund.

Florence M. Cunningham

KEWANNA -- Services for Florence M. Cunningham, 94, Grass Creek, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Grass Creek United Methodist Church.

She died at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, in Carondelet Manor Nursing Home in Kansas City, Mo.

Born March 27, 1905, in Grass Creek, she was the daughter of Matthew E. and Ida Mae Hizer Jones. She was married in 1927 in Grass Creek to Everett Cunningham, who died Dec. 21, 1966.

Mrs. Cunningham was a retired teacher, having taught elementary school for 38 years. She had taught at Fletchers Lake, Grass Creek and Caston School Corp.

She was a member of Grass Creek United Methodist Church and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.

A 1923 graduate of Grass Creek High School, she was also a graduate of Indiana Central College and Manchester College and received her Master’s degree in 1962 from Ball State University.

Surviving are two sons, James E. Cunningham, Kansas City, Mo., and John Robert Cunningham, Grass Creek; one daughter, Julia Moore, Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

One sister and one brother preceded her in death.

The Rev. David Jennys will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Grass Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today in Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel, and in the church one hour before the services on Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Arlon R. Ault

ARGOS -- Services for Arlon R. Ault, 65, of 2364 20th Road, Tippecanoe, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Tippecanoe Community Church.

He died at 5:25 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, in Community Hospital of Bremen.

Pastor Kenneth Todd and Pastor Rod Schuler will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Culver.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., and in the church one hour before the services on Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Tippecanoe Community Church and to Gideons International.

Marie R. Lavender

Marie R. Lavender, 68, Logansport, died at 5:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Rites are pending at Kroeger Funeral Home.

Richard Eugene Vernon Sr.

Services for Richard Eugene Vernon Sr., 60, of 1930 Oakland Ave., will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel.

He died at noon Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born Aug. 16, 1938, in Logansport, he was the son of Clyde and Katherine Taylor Vernon.

Mr. Vernon was a roofer.

He is survived by three sons, Ricky Vernon, Monon, Mike Vernon, Logansport, and Paul Grandstaff, Winamac; one daughter, Megan Marie Vernon, Rochester; one stepson, David Caruso; one stepdaughter, Sandy Hoover, Logansport; one son-in-law, Donald Hoover, Logansport; one sister, Judy Kay Deetz, Highland, Calif.; his companion and friend, Jane Mize; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

One brother, Thomas Raymond Vernon, and one sister, Delores Jean Bauman Vernon, preceded in death.

The Rev. Art Maloney will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour before the service on Tuesday in the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel.

Arrangements are by Marocco Funeral Chapel.

Mary R. Morrison

PERU -- Services for Mary R. Morrison, 76, of Miller’s Merry Manor, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Charles Catholic Church.

She died at 12:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Father Philip Haslinger will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the church.

Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ellen L. Johnson Caplette

ROCHESTER -- A memorial service for Ellen L. Johnson Caplette, 71, of 13 Edward St., Southbridge, Mass., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home.

She died at 5 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 1999, in Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge.

Father Leo Haigerty will officiate at the service, and a graveside service will follow in Fulton Cemetery.

There is no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
