Max E. Simons

PERU -- Services for Max E. Simons, 73, of 949 Rosewood Drive, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Charles Catholic Church.

He died at 7:18 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, in Dukes Memorial Hospital Continuing Care.

Father Philip Haslinger will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

Dana Hoover

Services for Dana Hoover, 41, of 9935S 475W, Kewanna, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

He died at 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at his residence.

Born Oct. 12, 1957, in Logansport, he was the son of Frank W. and Mary Ellen Little Hoover.

Mr. Hoover was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during peace time.

He was a laborer.

Surviving are one brother, Brian Hoover, Lafayette; one sister, Marsha Chambers, Xenia, Ohio; one niece; three nephews and one great-niece.

The Revs. David Sommers and Ed Chambers will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fletcher’s Lake United Methodist Church and the Fulton County Hope Hospice.

Wayne H. Ross

Services for Wayne H. Ross, 88, of 430 W. Broadway, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

He died at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born April 11, 1911, in Cass County, he was the son of Earl S. and Minnie Hardy Ross. On April 27, 1935, in Denver, he was married to Mildred Katherine Fahl, who died July 31, 1987.

A retired farmer, Mr. Ross had owned and operated Wayne’s Produce for many years. He also had worked for the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Logansport.

Surviving are one son, Thomas W. Ross, Logansport; two daughters, Sharon Jones and Carole Knapp, both of Logansport; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

One brother and one sister preceded in death.

The Rev. Phyllis Stroup will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Brethren in Logansport.

Anita Mae Dillon

Services for Anita Mae Dillon, 78, of Brethren Home of Flora, formerly of Deer Creek, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

She died at 8:10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at Flora Healthcare Center, Flora.

Born Feb. 8, 1921, in White County, she was the daughter of Harry and Hazel L. Davis Strasser. On Nov. 8, 1938, in Cass County, she was married to Charles E. Dillon, who died May, 20, 1977.

Mrs. Dillon was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Peru Eagles Auxiliary, the Logansport Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Walton American Legion Auxiliary and the Logansport Ladies of the Moose.

Surviving are three daughters, Ruby Coleman and Janice Kay McCarty, both of Logansport, and Linda Lou Trapp, Camden; four sons, Charles Lynn Dillon, Camden, Dennis Joe Dillon, Delphi, Stanley Dillon, Logansport, and Thomas E. Dillon, Flora; two stepsons, Wayne Lee Dillon, Camden, and Everett Eugene Dillon, Logansport; one sister, Norma Reddy, Logansport; 32 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Two stepsons, two brothers, Mac Strasser and Robert Strasser, and one sister, Geraldine Strasser, preceded in death.

The Rev. Charles Compton of Flora Presbyterian Church will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Deer Creek.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral chapel.

Dorthy Ann Hinshaw

MONTICELLO -- Services for Dorthy Ann Hinshaw, 66, of 5064 N. East Shafer Drive, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.

She died at 2 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, in Home Hospital, Lafayette.

The Rev. Tom Bennett will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Hughes Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

James R. Spoor

MONTICELLO -- Services for James R. Spoor, 72, of 521 Maple St., will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home.

He died at 5:01 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, in White County Memorial Hospital, after several months of failing health.

Born May 24, 1927, in Indiana, he was the son of William Earl and Hazel Moyne O'Brien Spoor. On Dec. 25, 1977, in Logansport, he was married to Beverly Hettinger, who survives.

A resident of Monticello for most of his life, Mr. Spoor worked in the building industry and was a sales representative for TEMCO for several years.

He enjoyed camping and time with his family. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Monticello.

Also surviving are six daughters and five sons-in-law, Sue and Don Overton, Laura and Fred Hettinger, and Mary and Joe McKay, all of Lafayette, Phyllis and Tom Anders and Jenny Spencer, all of Logansport, and Anna and David Skelton, Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; nine sons and seven daughters-in-law, Ron and Dolly Spoor, Revere, Mass., Bill and Cindy Spoor and Mark and Theresa Hettinger, all of Logansport, Dan and Vicki Hettinger, and Brad Hettinger, all of Monticello, Jeff and Kelly Spoor, Cumberland, Fred Hettinger, Lafayette, Brian and Jodi Hettinger, Tipton, and Jeff and Loribeth Hettinger, Remington; one sister, Bonnie Veirs, Monticello; 30 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a special loving relationship with Gary, Patty, Nathan and Matthew Kelley.

The Rev. J.L. Schaffer will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Riverview IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the White County Memorial Hospital Foundation.

David M. Irvin Sr.

PERU -- Services for David M. Irvin Sr., 51, of 64 W. Franklin St., will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

He died at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, in Miller's Merry Manor.

The Rev. Jewell Pratt will officiate at the services. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Deedsville.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Shirley J. Brown

KEWANNA -- Shirley J. Brown, 60, of St. Cloud, Fla., died Saturday in the emergency room of St. Cloud Hospital.

Arrangements are pending at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.

Mary L. Creviston

ROCHESTER -- Graveside services for Mary L. Creviston, 87, of Lifecare Center of Rochester, formerly of 1098W 500N, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Omega Cemetery, southwest of Akron.

She died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, in Lifecare Center.

Pastor Don Meyer will officiate at the services.

There will be no visitation.

Foster & Good Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in her name to the family.

Shirley J. Brown

KEWANNA -- Services for Shirley J. Brown, 60, of St. Cloud, Fla., formerly of Belpre, Ohio, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel.

She died at 1:08 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, in the emergency room at St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, Fla.

Born March 26, 1939, in Marietta, Ohio, she was the daughter of George E. and Virgel Louise Rupp Johns. She was married on Aug. 1, 1959, in Marietta, Ohio, to Frederick A. Brown, who survives.

A homemaker, Mrs. Brown enjoyed crafts and liked to collect Special Edition Dolls and Cherished Bears.

She attended United Methodist Church.

Also surviving are two sons, Craig A. Brown, St. Cloud, Fla., and Terry A. Brown, Kewanna; one daughter, Cindy L. Ayers, Belpre, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Her parents and one brother preceded in death.

The Rev. Todd Wilson will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Citizens IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Narcoossee Volunteer Fire Department and EMTs of St. Cloud, Fla.

Mary L. Strahle

Services for Mary L. Strahle, 90, of Logansport, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Kroeger Funeral Home.

She died at 11:22 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Jan. 4, 1909, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Nathaniel M. and Lula O. Huston Buck. In 1942, she was married in Logansport to George C. Strahle, who died July 2, 1974.

A homemaker, Mrs. Strahle had been a member of St. James Lutheran Church, where over the years she had been a member of the Ladies Guild, the Mary Martha Guild and the Altar Guild; she also had been a greeter and assisted in the church office. She enjoyed playing bridge.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Thomas and Linda Strahle, Lafayette; two grandchildren and their spouses, Matthew Scott and Marybeth Strahle, Lafayette, and Gretchen Lynn and Joe Lyons, Bedford, N.H.; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Elizabeth Lyons, Justin Thomas Lyons and Joshua Charles Strahle; and several nieces and nephews who were more like sons and daughters.

Pastor Marvin Hinkle will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call two hours before the services Friday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.

Sherry L. Hawkins

AMBOY -- Services for Sherry L. Hawkins, 53, of Route 3, Kokomo, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Laird Funeral Home.

She died at 11:42 a.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, in Saint Joseph Hospital & Health Center, Kokomo.

Chaplain Steve Fleck will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery, Amboy.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Donna J. Carlson, 77, of 619 14th St., died at 3:50 a.m. today in Miller's Merry Manor.

MONTICELLO -- William J. "Bill" Haskell, 77, of Idaville, died Tuesday in White County Memorial Hospital, Monticello.

C. Mable Fox

BUNKER HILL -- Services for C. Mable Fox, 100, of Anna Maria Nursing Home in Aurora, Ohio, formerly of Bennetts Switch, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Allen Funeral Home.

She died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, in her residence.

Burial will be in Galveston Cemetery.
