UNION -- A graveside service for Michael A. Lott Jr. will be at 2 p.m. (Indiana time) Monday at Kessington Cemetery. Pastor Steve Steele of Kessington Community Church will officiate.

Mr. Lott, 58, of 70406 Kessington Road, died at 8:56 a.m. Thursday (June 3, 2004) in Elkhart General Hospital.
He was born Feb. 1, 1946, in Fort Wayne to Michael A. Sr. and Doris (Hamilton) Lott. He married Patti Wise on Nov. 19, 1976, in Las Vegas.
She survives, along with one son, Ryan (Casey) Lott of Elkhart; two daughters, Kari and Katie Lott of Union; two grandchildren; one sister, Barb (T.K.) Brenneman of Elkhart; and one brother, David Lott of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ida Gadson, and a brother, Art Lott.
Mr. Lott enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Memorials may be given to the family.

PAMELA I. LUTES

ELKHART -- Pamela I. Lutes, 50, of 23129 Sandlewood Drive, died at 12:27 p.m. Thursday (June 3, 2004) at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born June 24, 1953, in South Bend, to Vernon and Irene (Springer) Edwards.
She married David J. Lutes on Sept. 28, 1976. He survives, along with two sons, David J. (Stacey) Lutes Jr. and Richard E. Lutes, both of Elkhart; one stepdaughter, Angela D. Melton of Cleveland, Tenn.; and two sisters, Shirley (Jerry) Schultz and Barbara (Don) Rospopo, both of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by one brother, James V. Edwards.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home & Crematory, 700 E. Jackson Blvd., Elkhart, where the service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Gene Hollingsworth of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
Mrs. Lutes was a 1971 graduate of Jimtown High School. She was a homemaker, and she enjoyed shopping and reading.

LLOYD R. "PINKY" MATTHEWS SR.
Aug. 6, 1922-June 4, 2004
GRANGER -- Lloyd R. "Pinky" Matthews, Sr., 81, of Brick Road, died at 1:30 a.m. Friday (June 4, 2004) in his home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1922, in South Bend, to Roland E. and Jennie M. (Miller) Matthews. He married Joan Irene Reinky on March 18, 1944, in Los Angeles.
He is survived by two daughters, Sally (Jim) Heise of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Kimberly (William) Deethardt of Granger; one son, Lloyd R. (Melani) Matthews Jr. of Elkhart; and one sister, Clara (Larry) Kaufman of Williamsburg, Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one brother, Howard Matthews.
Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Ed Erskin, pastor of Northway Church of Christ, will officiate. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, where members of VFW Post 360 will conduct military rites.
Mr. Matthews was an electrical contractor. He served as an electrical leader with Harris Township at the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ and a lifetime member of American Turners. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal. He was honorably discharged on April 9, 1946.
Memorials may go to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.

KATHRYN TROYER
Dec. 16, 1910-June 3, 2004
GOSHEN -- Kathryn Troyer, 93, of 1225 Greencroft Drive, died at 10:55 p.m. Thursday (June 3, 2004) in Greencroft Healthcare.
She was born Dec. 16, 1910, in West Liberty, Ohio, to Isaiah and Amanda (Fett) Hartzler.
She married M. Raymond Troyer on June 10, 1939, in West Liberty, Ohio. He died July 23, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty (Harvey) Hartzler of Fort Myers, Fla., and Janet (Phil) Yordy of Elmira, Ontario, Canada; four sons, Norman of Goshen, Jon (Almeda) of Middlebury, Dennis (Anne) of Birmingham, Ala., and David (Carol) of Morton, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Yoder, and one sister, Beulah Kaufman.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the local service at 4 p.m. Sunday in The Meeting House at Greencroft and from 1 to 2 p.m. (Ohio time) Monday at Oak Grove Mennonite Church in West Liberty, Ohio, where services there will be at 2 p.m. (Ohio time). The Revs. Klaudia Schmucker and Firman Gingerich of College Mennonite Church will officiate at Greencroft. The Rev. Larry Augsburger of Oak Grove Mennonite Church will officiate in Ohio. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, Ohio.
Mrs. Troyer was a registered nurse and a homemaker. She was a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church and an affiliate member of College Mennonite Church.

MARILYN J. WARD
Feb. 16, 1946-June 3, 2004
EDWARDSBURG -- Friends of Marilyn Jean Ward may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday, all at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Burial will follow in Adamsville Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward, 58, of 68400 Morton Drive, died at 1:15 a.m. Thursday (June 3, 2004) at her home after a one-year illness with cancer.
She was born Feb. 16, 1946, in Richland, Wash., to Charles and Laura (McKenzie) Hafner. She married Larry Dallas Ward on Nov. 11, 1962, in Peru, Ind.
He survives, along with her mother; one son, Larry R. "Rich" (Debbie) Ward of Edwardsburg; one daughter, Sherri J. Clement of Edwardsburg; five grandchildren; three sisters, Patsy Binkerd and Leeta (Fred) Ray, both of Peru, and Susie (Gary) Dock of Wabash.
Mrs. Ward was the manager at Jaxson Cleaners on East Jackson Boulevard in Elkhart for 21 years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles, board games and boating.

Jo Ann Borden
May 19, 1966-June 10, 2004
GOSHEN -- Jo Ann Borden, 38, of 255 Roxbury Park, died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday (June 10, 2004) in a car-train accident in Goshen.
She was born May 19, 1966, in Goshen to Mary Ellen (King) Moyer and Gerald E. Myers.
She is survived by her father and stepmother, Shirley Myers of Goshen; one son, John Tyler Haitsma, and one daughter, Jenna Brie Hall, both of Goshen; her grandfather Roscoe Myers of Goshen; two brothers, James T. (Patty) Myers and Gary E. (Dawn) Myers, both of Goshen; and one sister, Melissa (John) Contreras of North Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, 1911 South Main St., where the funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. John Contreras, her brother-in-law, and the Rev. Jeremy Myers, her nephew, will officiate. Burial will follow in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery.
Ms. Borden graduated in 1984 from Goshen High School. She was a lifetime area resident and worked as a cabinet builder for Coachmen Corp. in Middlebury. She was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1047 and she enjoyed reading.

Trevor D. Svadeba
Trevor David Svadeba, 28, of South Shore Drive, Eagle Lake, died at 2 a.m. Friday (June 11, 2004) at the home of a friend, apparently of natural causes. Frank E. Baxter, 65, of Orkney Court, died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday (June 9, 2004) at Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation, of cancer. He was born Jan. 5, 1939, in Newburg, N.Y., to John O. and Ethel (Thomas) Baxter. He married Mary A. Dickerson on July 16, 1960, in Potsdam, N.Y. [cut off]

LAGRANGE -- William A. Hochstetler, 58, of 1415 N. 300 E., died Tuesday (June 15, 2004) in his home.
He was born Feb. 24, 1946, in LaGrange to Amos W. and Edna J. (Weaver) Hochstetler.
He married Rosa M. Hochstetler on Oct. 8, 1964, in LaGrange. She survives with four daughters, Mary (Vernon) Troyer of LaGrange, Edna (Joe) Yoder of Howe, Ruby (Lyle) Miller of Topeka and Sarah (Ivan) Lambright of Shipshewana; seven sons, Vernon, Howard (Carolyn), Alvin (JoAnna), Daniel and Elmer, all of LaGrange, and Amos (Leora) and David (Wilma), both of Topeka; five sisters, Esther (Tobe) Miller and Erma (Richard) Bontrager, both of LaGrange, and Wilma (LeRoy) Hershberger, Sarah Mae Hochstetler and Irene (LeRoy) Miller, all of Shipshewana; and 38 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. today and all day Thursday at the family home. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Mervin Whetstone residence at 150 N. and 300 E., near LaGrange. Bishop Daniel Hershberger and ministers Willy Schrock and Floyd Schmucker will officiate. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery, LaGrange.

Mr. Hochstetler was a farmer. He lived all his life in LaGrange County. He was a member of the Old Order Amish faith.

She was born June 18, 1976, to Richard A. and Elizabeth (Liz) Campbell in Elkhart.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and Rick Hess of Middlebury; her father, Richard A. Campbell of Elkhart; two brothers, Jason A. Campbell of Goshen and Shawn R. Hess of Mishawaka; a sister, Meghan R. Davis of Bristol; and her grandparents, Frank and Dorothy Jennings of Elkhart, Richard and Leanor Hess of Elkhart, and George and Beatrice Antrim of Pittsboro.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Howard and Wanda Campbell.
Friends may call one hour before the service, which is at 10 am. Thursday at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart. The Revs. David Hudson, chaplain of Elkhart General Hospital, and Michael Muccio of Elkhart Christian Center will officiate. Cremation will take place.
Ms. Campbell graduated from Elkhart Central High School, where she was a four-year member and tri-captain her senior year of the Blue Wave swim team. She attended Southwestern Michigan College and graduated from Purdue University's master gardener program. She was a master gardener with Thompson Landscaping in Wakarusa, and a member of the Pottawatomi Indian Tribe, Pokagon Band.
Memorials may be given to Michiana Master Gardener Association Scholarship Fund.
