Dale R. Klumpp

Services for Dale R. Klumpp, 84, formerly of Rural Route 1, Camden, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Deer Creek Presbyterian Church.

He died at 3:35 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

Born Aug. 4, 1915, in Deer Creek, he was the son of John George and Charloha Kuszmaul Klumpp. On Oct. 10, 1947, he was married in Young America to Ruth L. Hubler, who survives.

Dale was a 1933 graduate of Deer Creek High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in New Guinea, the southern Philippines and Luzon, and earned the following decorations: Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars; Philippine Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars; Good Conduct Ribbon; Meritorious Unit Award; and Bronze Victory Medal for World War II.

A retired produce buyer, he was a member of Deer Creek Presbyterian Church and Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge No. 211 F.&A.M. in Camden, and a former member of Elks Lodge No. 66.

Also surviving are one son, Eugene C. Klumpp, Kokomo; two grandsons, Dale Klumpp and Travis Klumpp; one great-grandson, Damon Klumpp; four nieces, Patricia Woolever, Kokomo, Connie Caudill, Fountaintown, Carol Dillman, Logansport, and Karen Maxwell, Ohio; and a special friend, Sandy Miller, Camden.

Two sisters, four brothers and a niece preceded in death.

The Rev. David Smook will officiate at the services. Burial, with military honors, will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Deer Creek.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Deer Creek Presbyterian Church.

McCloskey-Hamilton-Gundrum Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy F. Conner Borden

WINAMAC -- Graveside services for Dorothy F. Conner Borden, 83, of 624 E. 13th St., will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond.

She died at 11:06 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, in Pulaski Health Care Center, Winamac.

Born March 10, 1916, in East Chicago, she was the daughter of Lee B. and Florence Rau Fowler. On Oct. 22, 1939, in Crown Point, she was married to Bernard L. Conner, who died Jan. 27, 1957.

Mrs. Borden, a homemaker, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, all in Winamac, and she was an avid quilt maker and crossword puzzle solver.

A former resident of Indianapolis and Hobart, she lived in Winamac since 1939 and was a former clerk at Russell's Old Trading Post in Winamac.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy L. and Arnold Brandt, Winamac; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Gayle Conner, Winamac, and Daniel and Brenda Conner, Talma; one sister, Lois Hill, Hobart; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Fred and Dorothy Fowler, Savannah, Ga., David and Dorothy Fowler, Streamwood, Ill., and Peggy Fowler, Crowley, Texas; four grandsons, three granddaughters and one stepgreat-grandson.

A brother, Robert Fowler, and a sister, Nancy Trask, preceded in death.

Pastor Carl Lendermon will officiate at the services.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in Frain Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pulaski Health Care Center.

Thomas E. Burton

BRYAN, Ohio -- Services for Thomas E. Burton, 57, of 125 Grace St., will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Oberlin-Ford Funeral Home.

He died Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, in Valparaiso, following a sudden illness.

Born Dec. 27, 1941, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Gilbert and Evelyn May Denzer Burton, who survive. On June 27, 1970, in Rockfield, he was married to Sue Ellen Adams, who also survives.

Mr. Burton was employed at Ingersoll-Rand as a graphic artist.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael T. Burton and James A. Burton, both of Bryan; one daughter, Amy L. Burton, of Bryan; one brother, Jim Burton, of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Mrs. Sandy (Jim) McCoy, of LaFontaine, and Mrs. Sally (Jim) Van Ryn, of Fort Wayne; and his father- and mother-in-law, Jack and Pauline Adams, of Logansport.

The Rev. Richard Buchsteiner will officiate at the services. Burial, with Interment, will be in Shiffler Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Carr E. Beecher

DENVER -- Services for Carr E. Beecher, 78, of Denver, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in McClain Funeral Home.

He died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, in his residence.

Born Aug. 19, 1921, in Cass County, he was the son of Clinton E. and Grace Condon Beecher. On July 24, 1942, he was married in Corinth Brethren Church, Twelve Mile, to Dorothann Rockey, who died June 9, 1999.

Mr. Beecher was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II. He owned and operated Beecher Garage in Denver for 50 years. A 1940 graduate of Twelve Mile High School, he was a member of Denver Baptist Church and was a bus driver for North Miami Community Schools for 30 years.

He served as Denver Fire Chief for 40 years and was honored earlier this year by the State of Indiana for 50 years of service to the Denver Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia "Patty" Ann Wiltshire, Great Falls, Mont., and Jane Robins, Denver; two brothers, George Everett Beecher, Wanatah, and Harold Larkin Beecher, Twelve Mile; four sisters, Elaine Shafer, Royal Center, Maxine Johnson and Harriett Morris, Logansport, and Jean Grable, Twelve Mile; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Marion W. Beecher and Merrill Beecher, preceded in death.

Pastor Steve Bate will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where memorial service will be conducted at 8 p.m. by the State Volunteer Fire Departments.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Denver Baptist Church and the Miami-Wabash County Hospice.

William T. Hitchens

Services for William T. Hitchens, 73, of Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Calvary Presbyterian Church.

He died at 11:24 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 2, 1925, in Logansport, he was the son of Clarence E. and Garnett Vermilyea Hitchens . On May 29, 1948, in Logansport, he was married to Alberta J. Rothermel, who survives.

A member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Mr. Hitchens retired in 1984 from Exide Corporation.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy Armed Guard, having served during World War II, and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790.

Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Kathy Hitchens, Carmel; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Steve McKinney, Logansport, and Patty and Jim Stringfellow, Remington; seven grandchildren, Cyrena, Chase, Carin, Erin, Adam, Joshua and Jonathan; and several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Clare Helvie, preceded in death.

The Rev. Susan Arnold will officiate at the services. Burial, with military honors, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today in Kroeger Funeral Home and one hour before the services Friday in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Logansport Public Library Fund of the Cass County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 411, Logansport 46947.

Ruby G. Masavage

KOKOMO -- Services for Ruby Geneva Masavage, 65, of 621 Elk Drive, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Ellers Mortuary.

She died at 6:03 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, in Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis.

The Rev. Jim Southworth officiated at the services. Private intermenty will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Bible Ministries.

Larry W. Massey Sr.

DELPHI -- Services for Larry W. Massey Sr., 61, of 6403 W. Division Line Road, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Abbott Funeral Home.

He died at 2:41 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

Pastor Alan McLearn-Montz will officiate at the services. Burial, with military rites by the Delphi American Legion, will be in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lafayette Fire Department.

Ruby M. Cantrell

DELPHI -- Services for Ruby M. Cantrell, 77, of 6141 N. Sleepy Hollow Road, Monticello, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, Orland Park, Ill.

She died at 6:04 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, in Home Hospital, Lafayette.

Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood, Ill.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home at Orland Park.

Horn-Davidson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Helen L. Hein

PERU -- Services for Helen L. Hein, 75, of 218 E. Main St., will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in St. John’s Lutheran Church.

She died at 5:10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, in Dukes Memorial Hospital.

Pastor Philip Krupski will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Rush

DELPHI -- Services for Elizabeth Rush, 84, of 2661 Dreifers Ave., will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Horn-Davidson Funeral Home.

She died at 7:35 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at her residence.

The Rev. John Wagner will officiate at the services. Burial will be in IOOF Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Mark A. Pruitt

DELPHI -- Services for Mark A. Pruitt, 45, of 723 N. Union St., Kokomo, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Horn-Davidson Funeral Home.

He died at 7:55 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at his residence.

Born Oct. 16, 1953, in Kokomo, he was the son of Osta and Evelyn Nichols Pruitt. He was married June 25, 1990, in Brandon, Fla., to Sherron Lee Porter, who survives.

He was a truck driver for Sterns Peat Company in Dover, Fla., and was an avid fisherman.

He attended Forest Lawn Church of Nazarene.

Also surviving are his mother in Macy; one daughter, Jessica Pruitt, Logansport; five sons, Mark Jr., Franklin, Robert Millington II, William Millington and Mark Millington, all of Plain City, Ohio, and Michael Millington, North Lewisburg, Ohio; two sisters, Cathy Young, Macy, and Pamela Bechdolt, Perry, Fla.; three brothers, Loren Pruitt, Warsaw, Ed Pruitt, Macy, and Terry Pruitt, Logansport; nine grandchildren; and 17 nieces and nephews.

His father and one brother, Wayne Pruitt, preceded him in death in 1987.

Pastor Steve Pearce will officiate at the services. Burial will be in IOOF Memory Gardens, Pittsburg.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association.

Rev. Robert H. Dixon

PERU -- Services for the Rev. Robert H. Dixon, 70, of 1353 Tam-O-Shanter Drive, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

He died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at his residence.

The Rev. Don Ritchey will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Dorothy L. Walter

PERU -- Services for Dorothy L. Walter, 73, of Miller’s Merry Manor, Peru, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home.

She died at 3:35 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at her residence.

The Rev. Bob Brown will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.

Doris W. Blohm

BURLINGTON -- Services for Doris W. Blohm, 83, of 6629E 250S, Bringhurst, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Neptune Funeral Home.

He died at 8:55 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, in St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, Delphi.

Born March 20, 1916, in Deer Creek, he was the son of Albert and Selma Ray Blohm. He was married April 23, 1935, in Deer Creek by the Rev. Burger to Elva P. Allen, who survives.

A lifelong resident of Carroll County, Mr. Blohm was a construction worker.

He was a member of Bachelor Run Church of the Brethern, Labor Local 274 in Lafayette, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 323 in Logansport.

Also surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ray and Pat Blohm, Ben Wheller, Texas, Leland and Mila Blohm, Bringhurst, and Wayne Blohm, Los Angeles, Calif.; one daughter and son-in-law, Eldora "Dori" and Justin Hall, Flora; one brother and sister-in-law, Leland and Margaret Blohm, Burrows, one sister, Eileen McCarty, Burrows; a sister-in-law, Vernice Blohm, Burrows; 10 grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

One brother, Herbert Blohm, preceded in death.

The Rev. J.P. Freeman will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery in western Howard County.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Howard T. Kerr

AKRON -- Services for Howard T. Kerr, 81, of 784N County Road 900E, Akron, will be held at 1 p.m. today in Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.

He died at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, in his residence.

Burial will be in Athens Cemetery, Athens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Foundation.
