Harold W. Suter November 10, 2004 PLYMOUTH - Harold W. Suter, 86, a Plymouth resident most of his lifetime, died unexpectedly of natural causes in the Emergency Room of Home Hospital in Lafayette. Harold, living in the Rosewalk Commons Nursing Home, Lafayette, for the past six years died at 7:17 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov 10, 2004. He was born at home in Bremen, the son of Walter and Esta Shively Suter on May 27, 1918. He graduated from Bourbon High School with the class of 1938. On June 6, 1943, in LaPorte, Harold and Virginia Marks were married. Virginia died on April 1, 1998. A lifelong farmer even as a youth, it was said that Harold was on a tractor before he could even walk. In addition to farming, which he loved, he was an employee of Bremen Bearing for a number of years. He developed Suter's Addition on 9 A Road off of Jefferson St., east of Plymouth. Harold enjoyed Southern Gospel music and being with his family and friends. He faithfully attended the Shiloh Wesleyan Church of Plymouth. Harold is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene Kay and Douglas Kring, Lafayette. A granddaughter and her husband, Kephany D. and Stan Powell and their son, Matthew R. Powell, all of Nellys Ford, Va., also survive, together with a grandson Ryan V. Kring, Palm Harbor, Fla. Two nieces and a nephew survive as well. They are Jane Silvey, Chesterfield, Cheryl Ball, Rochester, and Gary Peters, Grand Rapids, Mich. A number of great-nieces and nephews also survive. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Visitation will be held in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, and for one hour preceding services on Sunday in the church. Funeral services for Harold will be held in the Shiloh Wesleyan Church on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at 2 p.m. The Rev. John Perkinson, pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth. Gifts in memory of Harold, his life and service, may be made to the church. Peterson November 10, 2004 BREMEN - Gregory A. Peterson, 54, of Walkerton, died Wednesday at 11:10 a.m. at Bremen Health Care Center following an extended illness. Survivors include his wife Angie of North Liberty; four daughters Dawn (Anthony) Lanzon of Nappanee, Harmony Peterson of Kingsford Heights, Natasha (Danny) Long of South Bend, Tabitha Peterson of North Liberty; two sons Christopher Peterson of Florida and James Ford of North Liberty; his parents Harry and Jennie Peterson of Walkerton; eight grandchildren; and six sisters Sandra Snyder of Florida, Patricia (Greg) Mundt of Koontz Lake, Audrey (John) Long of Fish Lake, Theresa (Dan) Corwin of Walkerton, Cheryl (Scott) Yelton of LaPorte, Cindy (Ray) Clemons of Kingsford Heights. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen, with Pastor Tom Schiefer officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorial gifts may be given to Bremen Health Care Center. Lois J. Swoverland Heckaman November 10, 2004 ARGOS - Lois J. Swoverland Heckaman, 89, of Argos died Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. at Hospice House of St. Joseph County in South Bend, where she had been a resident for three days. She is survived by two daughters Dorothy (Meril) Overmyer of Argos and Margaret (Calvin) Mikesell of Rochester; son Donald (Lois) Swoverland of Warsaw; four stepsons William (Eva) Heckaman of Portland, Ore., Herbert Heckaman of Lakeville, David Heckaman of Lakeville and Oliver (Eleanor) Heckaman of Lakeville; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 21 step-great-grandchildren and several step-great-great-grandchildren. Services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Grossman Funeral Home, Argos with Pastor Henry Sprunger officiating. Burial will follow in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. Visitation will be Sunday, 2-7 p.m., at the funeral home or one hour prior to services. Memorial gifts may be given to Santa Anna United Methodist Church. Lois J. Swoverland Heckaman November 10, 2004 ARGOS - Lois J. Swoverland Heckaman, 89, of Argos died Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 7:10 p.m. at Hospice House of St. Joseph County in South Bend, where she had been a resident for three days. She had been in failing health since March 2004. On Jan. 29, 1915 in Marshall County, she was born to George and Flora Baker Seitz. In June 1946, she married Oliver E. Heckaman. He preceded her in death Jan. 1, 1959. She had resided in the Argos community for most of her life. She had worked at the former Weidner Canning Company in Plymouth for 28 years. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading, crafts and crocheting. She was a member of the Santa Anna United Methodist Church, located southwest of Argos, more than 40 years. She is survived by two daughters Dorothy (Meril) Overmyer of Argos and Margaret (Calvin) Mikesell of Rochester; son Donald (Lois) Swoverland of Warsaw; four stepsons William (Eva) Heckaman of Portland, Ore., Herbert Heckaman of Lakeville, David Heckaman of Lakeville and Oliver (Eleanor) Heckaman of Lakeville; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 21 step-great-grandchildren and several step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter Betty Mast in 2001; three stepdaughters Inez Thomas, Hope Winters and Mary Stafford; one grandson, Richard Lowry in 2002; two sisters Ruth Laudeman and Pansy Ellinger; and one brother, Andy Seitz. Visitation was Sunday from 2 to 7 p.m., at the Grossman Funeral Home in Argos one hour prior to services on Monday. Services were Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Henry Sprunger officiating. Burial will follow in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. "Gene" Morris, 72, of Lincoln Highway West in Plymouth passed away on Saturday, Nov.13, in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend,after a heroic battle with cancer. A lifetime Plymouth resident, Gene was born on Dec. 9, 1931 in Plymouth to Preston E. and Edith M. (Shirley) Morris. He was a graduate of West High School, Class of 1950, where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. On Dec. 25, 1952, he married Ruth A. Neidlinger, the love of his life and his wife of 52 years, in Culver. Gene served his country in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic during the Korean Conflict. He continued in a career of automotive repair service as owner/operator of Geno's Auto-Truck Service from which he retired in 1984. A man of action rather than words, he could build and fix anything in the time frame given him. He especially enjoyed time spent with family, fishing trips to Canada, gardening and canning. Gene loved playing cards, watching Notre Dame football, I.U. basketball, the Chicago Cubs, Audie Murphy and John Wayne movies. Gene formerly attended the Union Church of the Brethren and was a former member of the VFW Post 1162 of Plymouth. Survivors include his loving wife, Ruth and their four children: Donna J. and Jim Burroughs of Argos, Diana L. Smiley and companion Ed Budka of Plymouth, Dennis E. Morris of Sevierville, Tenn., and David A. and Tracey Morris of Bunnell, Fla. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Tracy and Scott Moren of Bremen, Jason Smiley and companion Stacy Scibor of LaPorte, Amanda Burroughs of St. Louis, Mo., Jimmy Burroughs of Bloomington and Matthew and Marcus Morris of Bunnell, Fla. Gene's beloved great-grandson Collin Moren, 2, of Bremen, a brother Phillip and Linda Morris of Zephyrhills, Fla., and uncle Laurel and Carol Singleton of Knox also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant twin brothers, a stepsister Rozella Cobb and sister-in-law Rebecca Morris. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. Plymouth and one hour prior services. A celebration service of this gentle man's life will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m., the Rev. James Harper of Culver will officiate. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery where military rites will be accorded him by members of Veteran of Foreign Wars, Marshall County Post 1162. "Bunny" Ball, 97, of Kettering passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004 at Hospice of Dayton. Bunny was born to Clinton and Florence BonDurant in 1907 in Plymouth. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Tri Kappa State Sorority and the Plymouth Country Club in Plymouth. After growing up, she graduated from St. Mary's College at Notre Dame. For seven years she taught first grade with 40 students in each class during depression years. Bunny was a real Notre Dame Fan, where her husband, Gerry Ball attended. She never missed a game on TV and didn't want to be bothered when she had the game on. In 1937 she married Gerald Ball who preceded her in death in 1988; also her sister, Helen Keyser in 1990 and nephew-in-law, Don Peirce. She moved to Dayton in 1992 to be near her niece's family, Mrs. James Custer. Bunny is survived by her two nieces, Pat (Jim) Custer, and Betty Peirce of California; two great-nieces Deborah (Kenny) Lakins and Cathy (Don) Morter; a great-nephew, Doug Peirce; four great-great-nieces, Jessie, Tessa, Jill and Cory; and nephew, James L. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 20 at 11:30 a.m. in Oakhill Cemetery Chapel in Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ancilla College, P.O. S.R. 4, Walkerton, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004 at 4:40 p.m. at LaPorte Hospital following a brief illness. Elsie was born April 7, 1924 to Delbert Henry Divine and Bernice Ellen (Rearick) Divine in Walkerton where she was a lifelong resident. On May 2, 1948 she married Raymond V. Smith in Walkerton. He preceded her in death May 6, 1990. A farmer, Elsie attended Mill Creek Baptist Church, was active in Woman Missionary Society and LaPorte County Farm Bureau, was woman leader for Lincoln Township Farm Bureau for more than 20 years and member of Walkerton Historical Society. She is survived by her daughter Linda Ralu (Bob) Wolf of Muncie; a son Arden V. (Rhonda) Smith of Lowell; and three grandchildren. Services will be Nov. 19, 2004 at 11 a.m. EST at Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, Walkerton, with Rev. Ronale Davenport of Mill Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Walkerton. Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004 at 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton. Rev. Greg Crump will officiate. There will be no visitation. He is survived by a son Bruce (Carol) Gerhart of Plymouth; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Bremen Cemetery with Pastor Chuck Krieg officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services from 9-10 a.m. at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen.
