Dorothy F. Tomlinson

PLYMOUTH - Dorothy F. Tomlinson, residing at Pilgrim Manor, 222 Parkview Drive, since January of 2001, formerly of N. Plum St., Plymouth, died of natural causes at 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004. She was 95 years old.

Born in Chicago, Ill., on Jan. 19, 1909, she was the daughter of George E. and Edna M. Stevens Taylor. She graduated from Flower Technical High School in Chicago.

In the month of January in 1930, Dorothy and William "Harvey" Tomlinson were married in Illinois. Harvey died on December 18, 1973.

Dorothy had worked at Murphy's Five and Dime store in downtown Plymouth. A homemaker and lifetime caregiver for various family members, including her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She had an outstanding reputation for her baking and Dorothy's back door was always open to serve the neighborhood children cookies.

Instrumental in the formation of Christ's Church in Plymouth, she was a long-time devoted member and ready to serve where needed.

Dorothy is survived by a daughter Betty L. Shock Snay and her husband Jack of Plymouth.

Three grandsons: Roddy L. and Debbie Shock, Houghton Lake, Michigan; Denny C. Shock, Plymouth, and Art and Dawn Snay, Bourbon, also survive, together with a granddaughter, Penny L. and Rick Dixon, Plymouth.

Nine great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and numerous step-great grandchildren, survive as well.

The great-grandchildren are: Chad Shock, Kelly Trott, Melinda Shock, Kyle Shock, Becky Blosser, Adam Shock, Eric Shafer, Steven Snay and Griffin Snay.

Three sisters also survive. They are: Marge and Bud Bossard, Lansing, Ill.; Helen Ferree, Monee, Ill.; and Florence Strombeck, Mishawaka.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers: Harold and Marshall Taylor.

A gathering of friends and family to celebrate her life will be from 10:30 to 11 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2004, in the New Oakhill Cemetery Chapel, Plymouth.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 11 a.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery.

Gifts to celebrate the life of Dorothy Tomlinson may be made to Christ Church, 12012 Old U.S. 31 South, Plymouth.

Beverly I. Cecrle

February 17, 2004

ROCHESTER - Beverly I. Cecrle, 78, of Rochester died Tuesday at 2:45 p.m. at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

She is survived by her husband Rev. Paul Cecrle of Rochester; her daughters Beth (Larry) Nimmo of Denver, Colo., and Debbie (John) Phillips of Middletown, Ohio; her son Stephen (LaBrillia) Cecrle of Shreveport, La.; her mother Doris Klapp of Mobile, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Westside Apostolic Church, 510 W. Eighth St., Rochester, with Revs. Kenneth Mendenhall, Barry King, J.L. Hall, Wayne Chennault, Marilyn Chennault, Don Miller and Michael Rohrer officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, 2-8 p.m., at the church and one hour prior to services.

Burial will follow in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorial gifts may be made in honor of Mrs. Cecrle through Indiana Lawrence Bank, Rochester.

Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret J. Gimbel

CULVER - Margaret J. Gimbel, 87, died Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, Culver.

Jimmy L. Jones

January 27, 2004

MICHIGAN CITY - Jimmy L. Jones, 57, died Jan. 27 at 6:11 a.m. at Porter Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Jones of Michigan City; his parents Claud Jones and Margueriete "Marge" Jones of Culver; his daughter Michelle Jones of LaPorte; his sister Mildred "Millie" Olle of Berwyn, Ill.; four grandchildren; and two nephews.

A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Emanuel United Methodist Church, Culver, with Rev. Ron Lewellen officiating.

Theda Madge Kuntz

February 19, 2004

BREMEN - Theda Madge Kuntz, 81, died Thursday at 5:20 a.m. at Bremen Health Care Center.

She is survived by two sisters Kathryn (Warren) Koontz and Ruth (Casey) Wise of Bremen; two nephews; seven nieces and several great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Bremen Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Neil Wonnacott officiating. Burial will follow in Bremen Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be given to Marshall County Hospice.

Mishler Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Arthur Junior Long

PLYMOUTH - Arthur Junior Long, 74, a former Plymouth resident, living for the past 10 years at 1404 N. Wilber St., South Bend, ended a battle with cancer at 9:45 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at home in the company and care of his family and St. Joseph County Hospice.

Born on April 25, 1929, he was the son of Arthur and Ollie Johnson Long. He graduated from Polk Township - Tyner High School in 1947.

He was formerly married to Mary E. Rowe and Carol J. Lotz.

On May 20, 1994, in South Bend, he and Janet M. Morris were wed and enjoyed nearly 10 years together.

Art first worked for the Studebaker Corp., and later was a supervisor for Pilgrim Farms in Plymouth. In 1975, he joined Irrigation Solutions of Lakeville, Ind. in the sales of farm irrigation systems.

Called a 'workaholic,' by his family and friends, he was capable of fixing absolutely everything. He was a Chicago Bears fan and supported Indiana University and Notre Dame athletics.

He was a member of Moose Lodge 741, Plymouth.

Art is survived by his spouse and by two daughters, three sons, and 10 stepchildren. They are Judy E. and Pat Fuller, Warsaw; Sue E. Grable, Fort Wayne; David K. Long, Hollywood, Fla.; Bryan "Sam" and Naomi Long, South Bend; Curtis R. and Brooke Long, Plymouth.

His stepchildren are: Rick Conely, Jeff Stetler and Sue Sullivan, all of Plymouth; Lisa Kern, Syracuse; William Morris, Atlanta, Ga.; Jennifer Wright, Michael Morris, Daniel Morris, Richard Morris and Stephanie Montgomery, all of South Bend.

Thirty grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive together with four sisters. They are Betty Geible, Sebring, Fla.; Doris Lamborn, Plymouth; Grace Hutchinson, South Bend; and Mary Dare, Teegarden.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, a son, James A. Long, a granddaughter, Miranda Sue Wethington and a brother, Glen Long.

Visitation and the sharing of memories with the family will be in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004.

Funeral services for Art will take place at 7 p.m. on that same date, Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, in the funeral home. The Revs. Paul McBride and David Kerkove, will officiate.

Committal services will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, in the Highland Cemetery Chapel, 2257 Portage Ave. South Bend. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the family will be appreciated.

June M. Sherow

February 9, 2004

ROCHESTER - June M. Sherow, 60, 1519 W. 700 N., Rochester, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2004 at 5:48 p.m. at her residence after a two-year battle with lung cancer.

Born on March 5, 1943 in Elkhart the daughter of Ernest L. and Bessie Arvesta Viola (Eggleston) Wilson.

On Sept. 12, 1958 she married Albert L. Sherow Sr. and he survives.

Mrs. Sherow was employed by Kralis Bros. Foods in Mentone. She enjoyed going to yard sales, collecting angels and her cats.

Survivors include her husband Albert L. Sherow Sr. of Rochester; her sons Roger L. (Edwina) M. Sherow of Waterloo, Ala., Albert L. (Sabrina) J. Sherow Jr. of Warsaw and Ricky L. (Stacy) Sherow of Warsaw; her daughter Judith L. (Donald) Wallace of Rochester; and 13 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Richland Center United Methodist Church with Revs. Will Lawson and Jill Walley officiating.

Burial will take place in Richland Center Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorial gifts may be given to June M. Sherow Memorial Fund through the funeral home.

Lee Benninghoff

HAMLET - Lee Benninghoff, 68, died Saturday in Starke Memorial Hospital, Knox, following an illness.

He is survived by two daughters Lynn Fazekas of Dekalb, Ill., and Lisa Friday of Houston, Texas; two sisters Ann Reese of Argos and June Tollar of Valparaiso; and two brothers Clarence "Bink" Benninghoff of Knox and Terry Benninghoff of Plymouth.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet.

Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.

PLYMOUTH - Sister James Keegan, 77, Union Road, Donaldson, died Tuesday at Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson.

Betty M. McIntosh

February 10, 2004

HAMLET - Betty M. McIntosh, 60, of Walkerton, died Tuesday at Our Lake of Peace Hospital, South Bend, following an illness.

She is survived by her husband Clarence "Bob" McIntosh; a daughter Shari Wagner of Culver; a son Dean of Walkerton; her stepmother Wilma Marsh of Union Mills; a sister Janet Bales of Fort Myers, Fla.; and two stepbrothers John Marsh of Hamlet and Paul Marsh of LaPorte.

Cremation will take place.

Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.

Sonja Ann Zick

WHEATON, Ill. - Sonja Ann Zick, 49, of Wheaton, formerly of Plymouth, has died.

She is survived by her children Michelle, Michael (Qyunh), Sandra and Kenneth Zick; her mother Norma Penrod; her sisters Debbie (Erick) Phonner, Barb (Doug) Bagley and Linda (Willie) Howard; and her brother Chuck Jr. (Dau) Penrod.

Visitation will be Friday, 4-9 p.m., at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road, Wheaton.

Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be private.

February 10, 2003

DONALDSON - Sister James Keegan, PHJC, died Tuesday at Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson.

She is survived by her sisters Marguerite McMahon of Highland and Helen Oliver of Michigan City.

Visitation will be today from 4:30-9 p.m. at Catherine Kasper Home.

Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Catherine Kasper Home.

Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Donaldson.
