He had served as a garage mechanic and a lineman for several years. Joe was a Boy Scout Leader and a little league coach for several years. He loved working and spending time with his family. Joe enjoyed working on small engines after his retirement from NIPSCO, and was an avid sports fam. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during World War II.

Ron had worked at the old Monticello RCA Plant as a color patcher for several years. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during Word War II. Ron loved the newsparer crossword puzzles, and was a die-hard Bobby Knight fan.
Special Services: Full military rites will be conducted at the Davis Cemetery in Burnettsville, Indiana.

Emma Mildred Nielsen

MEDARYVILLE - Services for Emma Mildred Nielsen, 85, Medaryville, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

She died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, in Hickory Creek at Winamac in Winamac.

Pastor George Halsted will officiate at the services. Burial will be in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Medaryville.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Frain Mortuary, Querry-Ulbricht Chapel in Medaryville, and one hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Medaryville.

Robert Lee Horn

Services for Robert Lee Horn, 80, Logansport, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

He died at 4:10 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, in Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born May 28, 1928, in Kokomo, he was the son of Ruby and Ida Lucille Hull Horn. He was married Nov. 6, 1948, in Young America, to Marilee J. Jones Horn. She preceded him in death March 7, 2005.

A very proud, independent man with a strong work ethic, Robert was a car detailer for the former Rudd-Hutchison dealership for many years. He had also worked at the former Mickey Johnson Ford service department.

Robert’s favorite pastime was fishing. He also enjoyed a good game of pool and hunting. He especially enjoyed being with family and friends. He attended the First Assembly of God in Logansport the past five years.

Surviving are son, Lindell Horn, Logansport; four daughters, Lynn Daniels, Lafayette, Glenda Andis, Logansport, Cheryl Weese, Avilla, and Sandra Kissinger, Logansport; brother, William Horn, Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; sister, Shirley Grantham, Logansport; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter.

The Rev. Andy Weil will officiate. Burial will be in the Crown Point Cemetery, Kokomo.

Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Contributions may be made to the Special Olympics and Peak Community Services.

James B. ‘Jim’ Rogers

Services for James B. “Jim” Rogers, 82, Logansport, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Yorktown Road Church of Christ.

He died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born Feb. 5, 1926, in Audia, Ky., he was the son of Nelson and Lillie Spencer Rogers. He was married June 22, 1946, in Stanton, Ky., to Elsie Hall Rogers, who survives.

A recipient of the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars, Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served as a rifleman in Company F 222nd Infantry Regiment in the 42nd Rainbow Division Unit in Rhineland and Central Europe.

In 1983, he retired from NIPSCO where he had worked as a supervisor for 32 years.

He was a member of Yorktown Road Church of Christ, where he served as church deacon.

Surviving with his wife are three sons, James Larry (Marsha L.) Rogers, Logansport, Michael E. (Susan F.) Rogers of Lafayette, Tenn., and Mark Rogers, Logansport; daughter, Sherri (Greg) Wohlgemuth, Owasso, Okla.; two brothers, Leonard Rogers, Stanton, Ky., and Nelson Rogers Jr., Peru; two sisters, Shirley Rogers, of Stanton, Ky., and Linda Sue Farmer, Winchester, Ky.; three grandchildren, Sean P. Rogers, Westfield, Adam L. Rogers, Logansport, and Nathan M. Rogers, Lafayette, Tenn.; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis Rogers, Westfield, and Micah Rogers, Logansport.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Kenneth; and two sisters, Wilma and Maxine.

Pastor Rick Woodall will officiate. Burial, with full military rites, will follow in the Ever Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel and one hour before the services Saturday in the church.

Contributions may be made to the Golden Agers group at Yorktown Road Church of Christ.
