Mary Louise Scott Sector

PERU - Services for Mary Louise Scott Sector, 89, Peru, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Main Street United Methodist Church in Peru.

She died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007, in Miller’s Merry Manor in Peru.

Pastor Steven Ailes will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church.

Robert F. Downey

MONTICELLO - Services for Robert F. Downey, 87, Monticello, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Miller-Roscka Funeral Home.

He died at 10:50 a.m. Sunday, June 24, 2007, in the Emergency Room in White County Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Bruce C. Hurley will officiate at the services. Burial, with full military rites conducted by the Honor Guard of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and AmVets Posts of Monticello, will be in the IOOF Riverview Cemetery, rural Monticello.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church and to the Kidney Foundation.

Joan P. Reichard

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Joan P. Reichard, born Joeanna Gregory, 83, St. Petersburg, Fla., died April 9, 2008.

She was born in Logansport, and was raised by her maternal grandmother in Indianapolis.

She moved to St. Petersburg, Fla. in 1950. That was the year she moved into the house she selected from the developer’s catalog. She spent the next 58 years there and enjoyed bringing into that house the flowers and citrus she picked from the yard.

She is survived by her sons, Glenn K. Reichard and Charles R. “Randy” Reichard; three grandsons, and three great-grandchildren.

ALifeTribute FuneralCare in Florida was in charge of arrangements.

Teresa Hedde Martin

MISHAWAKA - A memorial service for Teresa Hedde Martin, 50, South Bend, will be held June 29 in Mishawaka.

She passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008, at her home in South Bend.

Teresa was born Nov. 27, 1957, in Logansport, to Robert and Mary Mohlman Hedde, who preceded her in death.

She was a 1976 graduate of Logansport High School and a graduate of Florida Community College. In her youth, she showed horses and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

She was married Aug. 13, 1999, in Jacksonville, Fla., to Mike Martin, and he survives.

Teresa is also survived by a sister, Barbara and Ron Meister, Mishawaka; and a brother, Tom and Billie Hedde, Flora; two nieces, Lydia Hedde, Flora, and Hedde and Jim Wells, South Bend; two great-nieces, Laci and Grace, both of South Bend; two aunts, Mary Clifford, Delphi, and Margaret Kehoe, Jacksonville, Fla.; uncle, Louis and Rosemary Mohlman, Huntertown; and several cousins.

Paul Edward Kiesling

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - A memorial service will be held for Paul Edward Kiesling, 83, Punta Gorda, Fla., at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 21 at Assembly of God in Logansport.

He passed away June 11, 2008.

He was born Aug. 11, 1924, to George and Mary Hahnert Kiesling in Logansport. Paul’s love of basketball began at Riley Junior High School, which was city champion. He was a shooting guard for the Logan Berries. After graduating from LHS, he attend Lawrence Tech in Detroit on a basketball scholarship. Paul served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific until he left the Navy in March 1946.

His hobbies included mushroom hunting, fishing, golfing, coon hunting and bird hunting, and he excelled at everything he did.

Paul was a member of Isadynamous Euchre Club, VFW Post 3790 and life member of BPOE 66 in Logansport and the Elks Club 2606 and American Legion Post 103 both in Punta Gorda. Paul retired from Paul Kiesling Produce in 1986, and he and his wife moved to Punta Gorda. He worked as a golf starter and ranger at Maple Leaf Country Club for 10 years until declining health forced his retirement. Paul was of the Lutheran faith and made his peace with the Lord before his death.

Paul will be greatly missed by his wife of 35 years, Marilyn; son, Broc (Janet) Kiesling; daughters, Gay Kiesling and Paula (Garry) Cosgray; brother, George (Amy) Kiesling; sister, Catherine Joyce; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Dennis (Becky) Grogg, Pamela (Mike) Dempsey; eight stepgrandchildren, who adored their grandfather; and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Jeanne (Ray) Wagner.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert.

Memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care, 1144 Veronica Street, Port Charlotte FL 33952.

Raymond L. Reed

GALVESTON - Funeral services for Raymond L. Reed, 94, Walton, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, in Murray Weaver Funeral Home, 401 S. California St., Galveston.

He passed away Friday, June 13, 2008, in the Waterford Place Health Campus, Kokomo.

Raymond was born Dec. 15, 1913, on a farm near Onward. He was the son of the late Homer R. and Laura (Little) Reed. On Jan. 5, 1936, he married Josephine Carmin (Ramer), who died April 4, 1998.

He was a graduate of Onward High School and attended the Purdue University winter agriculture short course.

Raymond was a farmer all his life. After his retirement, he maintained a winter home in North Fort Myers, Fla.

He was a member of the Onward Christian Church where he served for many years as a deacon and a trustee. He was a founding member of the Onward Grange, a 50-year member of the Walton Masonic Lodge and Walton Eastern Star. In addition, he was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution and served on the Cass County Council.

He enjoyed all types of card games, especially duplicate bridge. He was an avid fisherman and a champion shuffleboard player. He and his wife traveled extensively both in the United States and around the world.

He is survived by a daughter, Betty Mounts and her husband, Gordon, Newtown, Conn.; three sons, Stephen Reed and his wife, Joyce, Walton, Joseph Reed and his wife, Barbara, Logansport, and James Reed and his wife Joyce, Kokomo; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two nephews.

A brother, Lowell Reed; an infant sister; and a nephew, Lewis Reed, preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Ministers Rod Mason and Joy Mounts will officiate. Burial will follow at Onward’s Deer Creek Cemetery, Onward.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Onward Christian Church.

Elsa Jean Edington

ROCHESTER - A celebration of life for Elsa Jean Edington, 63, Rochester, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester.

She passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior at 11:45 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2008, in Woodlawn Hospital, with her husband at her bedside.

Born Dec. 23, 1944, in Petoskey, Mich., she was the daughter of William and Esther Irene Reed Cooley. She moved to Fulton County at the age of three, when she took residence in the Fulton Community. Later she moved to Rochester, where she has lived most of her life. She was married Aug. 12, 1961, in Rochester, to Ralph “Dink” Edington. There marriage was blessed with four children.

In the early years, Elsa Jean had been an employee of the former Harts, Schaffner and Marx Corp. in Rochester. Later, in 1988, she retired from Harts to be a homemaker. It was then, she found her favorite position in life, being a grandma.

She attended the Whippoorwill Community Church, Rochester. Jean, as she was known by most of her friends, loved baseball. She was acknowledged to be the Chicago Cubs number one fan, very rarely missing a televised game. She was an avid reader, loved crocheting and all types of needle work, for which she made gifts for her family and friends. Her grandchildren were her special gifts from her children.

Jean is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Ralph “Dink” Edington, Rochester; two daughters, Christina L. Smith and husband, Kevin, and Rebecca S. Blystone and husband, David, all of Rochester; a son, Robert and wife, Linda, Rochester; eight grandchildren, Stacey Smith, Goshen, Ciara, Travis and Olivia Smith, Skyler Overmyer, Emiley Edington, Ella Edington and Benjamin Blystone, all of Rochester; a special niece, Abby Cheek, Rochester; two brothers, William A. “Bill” Cooley and wife, Dolly, Spokane, Wash., and Bernard “Shorty” Cooley and wife, Lucy, Rochester.

She was preceded into her eternal rest by a son, Ronald Edington on June 26, 1987; her parents; and two brothers, Richard Dixon on Oct. 10, 1980, and Donald Cooley on April 2, 2007.

Rev. Brian Sewell will officiate. Her earthly remains will be laid to rest in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services on Tuesday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made on her behalf to Good Family Funeral Home.

John E. Sweet

ROCHESTER - Services for John E. Sweet, 67, Rochester, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Zimmerman Brothers Funeral Home.

He passed away at 5:39 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

The Rev. Michael McFarland will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Citizens Cemetery, Rochester.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour before services Friday at the funeral home.

Jessica Renae Lambert

DENVER - Services for Jessica Renae Lambert, 26, Lincoln, Ill., formerly of Macy, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in McClain Funeral Home.

She went to be with the Lord at 9:25 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.

Pastor David Welsh and Skip Shambarger will officiate at the services. Burial will follow at Plainview Cemetery, Macy.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday before the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help with final expenses.

Francis L. ‘Whitey’ Thompson

AKRON - Services for Francis L. “Whitey” Thompson, 86, Akron, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.

He died at 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2008, in Life Care Center, Rochester.

Burial will be in Akron Cemetery, Akron.

Betty Louise Henry

INDIANAPOLIS - Services for Betty Louise Henry, 84, Greenwood, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Center United Methodist Church, 5445 Bluff Road, Indianapolis.

She died Wednesday, July 2, 2008.

Born Dec. 14, 1923, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Edgar and Ruth Irene Dibble Hopper.

She was a homemaker and a member of Southport Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Melvin Henry; her daughters, Karen (Thomas) Gary, Cheryl (Charles) Eads and Cindy (Wayne) Massey; her brother, Richard Hopper; her sister, Thelma Little; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Glenns Valley.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Monday at the church.
