AKRON - Services for Kenneth Case, 44, Akron, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Free United Baptist Church, 7035 S. Ind. 13 in Pierceton.

He died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, in his residence.

Pastor Ward Allen will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery, Palestine.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. today and before services on Wednesday at the church.

Hartzler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William T. Wharton

William T. Wharton, 57, Logansport, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, in his residence.

Arrangements are pending at Gundrum Funeral Home.

Cathy Lynn Gossett

Services for Cathy Lynn Gossett, 57, Haines City, Fla., formerly of Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Kroeger Funeral Home.

She died at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in Forsythe Hospice Center, Auburndale, Fla.

Born March 17, 1951, in Wabash, she was the daughter of Wendell Shroyer and Dorothy Rife Shroyer.

Cathy was the former owner and operator of the Neighborhood Tavern until 2006. Cathy had established a program, Karing for Kids, to assist needy children at Christmas and throughout the year. She was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed playing golf. She loved the sun and being in Florida.

Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Shroyer, Lake Wales, Fla.; three brothers, Larry Shroyer (Wendy), Miami, Fla., Gary Shroyer, Uniondale; and Mike Shroyer (Brenda), Markle; nephews, Matt Shroyer (Jennie), Ossian, and Shane Shroyer, Fountain City; niece, Amanda Jones (Steven), Markle.

Her daughter, Jennifer Gossett; and father, Wendell Shroyer, preceded in death.

Pastor Mike Shroyer will officiate. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash.

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and 3 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

James A. Carden

PERU - Services for James A. Carden, 77, Peru, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home.

He died at 5:13 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2008, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Pastor Robert Adelsperger will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.

Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Michael A. ‘Corky’ Corcoran

Services for Michael A. “Corky” Corcoran, 56, Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kroeger Funeral Home.

He died at 8:54 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis.

Born March 24, 1952, in Logansport, he was the son of James L. “Boz” and Luella M. Grace Corcoran. He was married July 12, 1975, in Logansport, to Catherine “Sass” Hettinger, who survives.

Corky was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60 and VFW Post 3790. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially his grandson, Jake.

Also surviving are daughter, Sarah Corcoran, Logansport; brothers, James Patrick (Karen) Corcoran, Randolph Lee (Lynn) Corcoran, and Joseph (Kim) Corcoran, all of Logansport; sisters, Judith Kay (Ed) Handziak, Warsaw, and Wendy Louise (Nate) Reynolds, Logansport; stepdaughter, Jennifer Pursch, Marion; grandson, Jake Corcoran; stepgrandchildren, Matthew Knight, Kassandra Knight and Amber Pursch; and several nieces and nephews.

Deacon Juan Rodriguez will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Legion Circle.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

John B. McCormick

DELPHI - Funeral Mass for John B. McCormick, 93, Madison Township, Carroll County, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi.

He died at 4:33 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, in St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi.

Father Peter Vanderkolk will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Citizens Cemetery, Carroll County.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, where a Scripture service will be held at 8 p.m.

Braxton Charles Grandstaff

Services for Braxton Charles Grandstaff, 13, Logansport, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Kroeger Funeral Home.

He passed away at 12:32 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, in his residence in Logansport.

Born Feb. 19, 1995, in Peru, he was the son of Dennis Lee Grandstaff and Denise Kristine Grandstaff. His father and mother survive, residing in Logansport.

Braxton was a seventh-grade student at Lincoln Middle School. He enjoyed skateboarding, playing baseball and riding his bike. He also enjoyed playing Guitar Hero and Halo II.

Also surviving is his brother, Christian Grandstaff, Logansport; sisters, Tara Latz (Matthew Eis), LaFontaine, and Amanda Latz (Nate Ewing), Logansport; step-father, Shannon Rottet, Logansport; maternal grandmother, Sandy Rance, Logansport; paternal grandparents, Mary Fissel, Logansport, and Kenneth and Connie Grandstaff, Delphi; paternal great-grandparents, Harlin and Lois Fissel, Logansport, and Effie Jean Grandstaff, Lake Cicott; nephew, Brayten Eis; nieces, Alexus Ewing and Braelyn Eis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

An uncle, Michael Bever, preceded in death.

Rev. Bob Cree will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to assist the family in care of Security Federal Savings Bank.

Regina Ann Hartman

FLORA - Services for Regina Ann Hartman, 38, Flora, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Valley View Baptist Church, Flora.

She died at 4:42 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Pastor Bill Godbey will officiate. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery, Bringhurst.

Reinke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Leona ‘Pearl’ VanVoorst

MONTICELLO - Services for Leona “Pearl” VanVoorst, 80, Reynolds, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello.

She died Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at 12:34 p.m. in Home Hospital, Lafayette.

Rev. Leland McReynolds of the Federated Church (American Baptist and Presbyterian), Brookston, will officiate. Burial will be in Chalmers Cemetery in rural Chalmers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the donor. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Marilynn Marie Bowman

Marilynn Marie Bowman, 86, Kokomo, formerly of Cass County, passed away at 4 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in St. Joseph Hospital, Kokomo.

Born Sept. 3, 1922, in Adams Township, Cass County, she was the daughter of Harry Eikenberry Moon and Doral Marie Johnson Moon. On May 30, 1943, she was married to Darrel J. Bowman, who preceded in death Dec. 21, 2007.

A 1940 graduate of Twelve Mile High School, Marilynn was a retired nurse’s aide and had worked for seven years at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include a daughter, Jil A. Browne, Salt Lake City, Utah; sons, Dale J. Bowman and his wife, Lorraine, Galveston, Kent Bowman and his wife, Karie, Fort Worth, Texas, and Scott D. Bowman and his wife, Donna, Tipton; one brother, Charles Moon, Kokomo; three sisters, Emma Lou Moore, Osceola, Marjorie Shipp, Kokomo, and Charlotte Graf, Bethlehem, Pa.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Devon Moon; and one sister, Helen Louise Wright.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Domestic Violence Task Force, P.O. Box 1213, Logansport, IN 46947, or the Crisis Center in Kokomo.

Norma Reeser

Services for Norma Reeser, 77, Monticello, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2 in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

She died Saturday evening, Aug. 23, 2008, in her residence.

Born Feb. 28, 1931, in Madison, she was the daughter of Carl Frederick and Thelma Garnet Bebee Reed. On Sept. 30, 1950, in Logansport, she was married to Dewey Harold Reeser, who preceded her in death Sept. 6, 1991.

A homemaker, Mrs. Reeser enjoyed playing card games, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, Indianapolis Colts fan and Chicago Bears fan.

Mrs. Reeser was a member of the Women of the Moose Auxiliary 901 in Monticello. She also belonged to the Redman Lodge and the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, both in Monticello.

Surviving are one son, Barry A. Reeser and his wife, Joy, Monticello; one daughter, Brenna Ann Reeser-Travis, Noblesville; four grandchildren, Amanda Walts and her husband Nathan, Monticello, Scott Reeser, Indianapolis, Tyler Travis, Noblesville, and Ryne Martin, Rochester; two great-grandchildren, Brant Walts and Ben Walts, both of Monticello; and one nephew, David Smith, Hawaii.

She was preceded in death by one son, Brett A. Reeser; one daughter, Debra K. Reeser; her stepfather, Hugh Doran; her stepmother, Louise Reed; and one stepsister, Betty Smith.

The Rev. James R. Copeland will officiate. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.

Friends may call from noon until time of the services Tuesday, Sept. 2 in the funeral chapel.

Linda L. Angle

FLORA - Services for Linda L. Angle, 60, Lafayette, formerly of Flora, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Baker Funeral Home.

She died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at her residence.

The Rev. Joe Horick will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.

Laurence Hubert Norris

ROCHESTER - Services for Laurence Hubert Norris, 94, Fulton, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Good Family Funeral Home.

He died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, in Chase Center in Logansport.

Pastor Bruce Russell will officiate at the services. Burial, with military graveside rites conducted by the Marine Corps, will be in Fulton Cemetery in Fulton.

Jeannie G. Garrett Tyrrell

DELPHI - A funeral Mass for Jeannie G. Garrett Tyrrell, 69, Delphi, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi.

She died at 10:31 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Abbott Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Father Peter Vanderkolk will officiate at the services. Burial will be Johnson Cemetery, Stockwell.

Nina Rose Shimer Hopkins

WINAMAC -A memorial service for Nina Rose Shimer Hopkins, 84, Zionsville, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church in Winamac. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Buffaloville. Graveside services will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery immediately following funeral services.

She passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008, at Zionsville Meadows Nursing Home in Zionsville.

Born Jan. 1, 1924, in Lamar, she was the daughter of Wallace and Dorothy Shimer.

Nina graduated from Dale High School in Dale and worked many years for Dr. Edward Hollenberg in Winamac. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Crown Point and Spring Hill, Fla.

Surviving are sons, Mike Hopkins, Brownsburg, and Randy Hopkins, Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; sister, Lillian Foertsch, Evansville; brothers, John Shimer, Dayton, Ohio, and Bill Shimer, Juliette, Ga.; six granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph Hopkins; son, David Hopkins; and sister, Dorothy Lietz.

Friends may call one hour before services Friday at First United Methodist Church in Winamac.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
