Vivian I. Fearnow Ladow

Celebration of life service for Vivian I. Fearnow Ladow, 87, Fletcher Lake, formerly of Kokomo, is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, Russiaville Chapel, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville.

She died at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.

She was born March 20, 1921, in Mulberry, Fla., and was the daughter of James C. and Alief Melissa (Johnson) Benton. She married to Maurice Fearnow on March 14,1940, who preceded in death on April 12, 1985. She then married Charles Ladow on Sept. 22,1995, and he survives in Fletcher Lake.

She retired from Delco Electronics, where she worked from 1953 to 1983. She also was a seamstress at Jewel Simons in Frankfort.

She graduated from Hillsboro High School in Tampa, Fla.

She was an active member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church, a former member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, a member of the United Methodist Women and served as an officer of the Kokomo District of the United Methodist Women.

She was also a former member of the Scircleville United Methodist Church and had attended the Dayton United Methodist Church.

She volunteered at both CAM and Blood Transfer at St. Joseph Hospital. She spent the winters in Frostproof, Fla., for many years. She also liked to square dance.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen I. (Bob) Keller, Frankfort, Patricia M. (Bill ) Souders, Frankfort, Richard N. (Nashalla) Fearnow, Kewanna, and Betty J. (Leonard) Reed, Frankfort; two stepchildren, Thomas (Cindy) Ladow, Logansport, and Robert (Debbie) Ladow, Greenwood; 11 grandchildren, Cary Doucette, Rebecca Owings, Keith Doucette, Karen Green, Jennifer Bovee, Kent Fearnow, David Fearnow, Darrin Fearnow, Melissa Neher, Tracy Brothers and Angela Freidline; 20 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 10 stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

Pastor Dave Sommers will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Kempton Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home

Memorial contributions may made to CAM ministries. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Charles F. McFatridge

Services for Charles F. McFatridge, 88, Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

He died at 1:16 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, in his residence.

Born Jan. 4, 1920, in Deer Creek, he was the son of Ira Lewis and Ethel Maude Campbell McFatridge. He was married Sept. 30, 1943, in Cass County, to Rosanna Sink, who survives.

He retired as an electrician and farmer.

He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and Eagles Lodge 323. Charles enjoyed fishing, gardening and coon hunting.

Also surviving are daughters, Donna Rikard and husband, Randy, Walton, and Debra Maddox and husband, Chuck, Valparaiso; sister, Vera Larimore and husband, Junior, Galveston; grandson, Jeff Beeman and wife, Blanche, Logansport; several stepgrandchildren; great-grandson, Matthew Beeman; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Jim, Tom, Bill, Bob and Art McFatridge, and one sister, Dorothy McFatridge.

The Rev. Doug Mankell will officiate. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Deer Creek.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Care Hospice of Kokomo.

Mary M. Burdge

Services for Mary M. Burdge, 86, Logansport, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. James Lutheran Church.

She died at 11:54 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born Aug. 2, 1922, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Delbert and Bertha Schaen Baker. She was married to former Logansport High School mathematics teacher Thomas B. Burdge, who preceded in death March 2, 1984.

For many years, with her husband, Mrs. Burdge owned and operated the Credit Bureau of Logansport. She had also served as the executive secretary of the United Way of Cass County.

Mary was a member of the former Logansport Altrusa Club. She was also a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the church’s Mary Martha Guild.

Surviving are sons, Christopher B. Burdge, Seattle, and Clifford T. Burdge (Laura Buono), Fort Wayne; brother, Herb Baker, Port Charlotte, Fla.; sisters, Marolyn (John) Gale, Logansport, Maxine Gale, Venice, Fla., and Martha Hosier, Cape Coral, Fla.; grandchildren, Samuel Burdge, and Jessica (Mike) Flaherty; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews

Pastor Marvin Hinkle will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kroeger Funeral Home and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Kenneth G. Martin

Services for Kenneth G. Martin, 81, Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

He died at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at Seton Specialty Hospital, Lafayette.

Born Aug. 24, 1927, in Cass County, he was the son of John and Belle Roller Martin. He was married July 25, 1948, in Logansport, to Shirley A. Atwood, who survives.

Kenneth retired in 1990 after 40 years as a delivery driver for Prairie Farms Dairy, which was formerly Ray’s Creamery.

He was a member of American Legion Post 60. Kenneth was an avid bowler and was the bowling league secretary for over 30 years. He enjoyed golf, Cubs baseball and various other sports. He was also a former Cass County softball commissioner.

Also surviving are son, Steve Martin, Logansport; daughters, Janet Fread and husband, Mike, Kenner, La., Judy Burkhart and husband, Jerrie, Logansport, Carol Williams, Kokomo, Misha Leslie and husband, Mark, West Lafayette, and Laurie Peake and husband, Tom, Fairfax, Va.; 10 grandchildren, Robert Masters, Kris Morris, Marisa Herron, Corey Burkhart, Kelley Burkhart, Morgan Leslie, Madison Leslie, Sam Peake, Eric Peake and Jamey Fread; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

The Rev. W. Frank Hibbard will officiate. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Gary B. Stonebraker

DELPHI - Services for Gary B. Stonebraker, 43, Delphi, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in First Assembly of God Church in Delphi.

He died as the result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, in Carroll County.

Born in Lafayette on March 27, 1965, he was the son of Richard Stonebraker (wife, Donna) of Flora, and Doris Ann Page Johnson (husband, Duane) of Apache Junction, Ariz. He was married on Oct. 20, 1985, in Delphi, to Trina L. Snider who also died from injuries she suffered in the same accident.

Gary was a 1983 graduate of Delphi High School. He had worked as an estimator for Milestone since 2005 and previously worked for 15 years for Jack Isom Construction in Reynolds. He was a member of the National Guard for 15 years and was a past member of Rockfield Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, NASCAR, boating, watching football and spending time at the pool with his family and with his granddaughter.

Surviving are two sons, Cole S. Stonebraker, a student at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, and Kyle B. Stonebraker, a student at Ball State University in Muncie; three brothers, Greg B. (wife, Tracy) Stonebraker, Avon, Ill., Glenn B. (wife, Jenny) Stonebraker, Rossville, and Mark A. (wife, Pamela) Hayes, Flora; three stepsisters, Dawn Gusteson and Teresa Ostregrin, of Lafayette, and Marsha Ragan, Delphi.

Also surviving is a granddaughter, Marlee Stonebraker; grandmother, Thelma Hodges, Delphi; and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul V. Page, Lafayette.

Pastors Brent Oliver and Nord Zootman will officiate.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Snider/Stonebraker Grandchildren Memorial Fund in care of Salin Bank in Delphi.

Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette is in charge of arrangements.

Trina L. Stonebraker

DELPHI - Services for Trina L. Stonebraker, 43, Delphi, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in First Assembly of God Church in Delphi.

She died as a result of injuries suffered from an automobile accident on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, in Carroll County.

She was a lifelong resident of Carroll County.

She was born April 16, 1965, in Logansport, to Donna Pursch Snider and the late Terry D. Snider, who also sustained fatal injuries in the accident. Trina was married Oct. 20, 1985, in Delphi, to Gary B. Stonebraker, who also sustained fatal injuries in the accident.

Trina was a Delphi High School graduate and received her nursing degree from St. Joseph College. She was employed by St. Elizabeth Hospital as a registered nurse for eight years. She also had worked at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Delphi and Camelot in Logansport. She was a past member of  Rockfield Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed hanging out at their pool, spending time with her family and granddaughter. She also enjoyed singing and dancing.

Surviving are two sons, Cole S. Stonebraker, a student at Indiana State University in Terre Haute, and Kyle B. Stonebraker, a student at Ball State University in Muncie; and one brother, Terry (wife, Shawna) E. Snider, of Camden.

Also surviving are a granddaughter, Marlee Stonebraker; grandmother, Maxine Snider, Camden; and 11 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Junior F. Snider, and grandparents, Edward and Dorothy Pursch.

Pastors Brent Oliver and Nord Zootman will officiate.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Snider/Stonebraker Grandchildren Memorial Fund in care of Salin Bank in Delphi.

Letha Connelly Littman

DELPHI - Services for Letha Connelly Littman, 86, Lafayette, formerly of Delphi, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Davidson Funeral Home.

She died at 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, in Rosewalk Village, Lafayette.

Spiritual Counselor Jack Johnson will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Battle Ground Cemetery, Battle Ground.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Ronnie Utter

ROCHESTER - A celebration of life for Ronnie Utter, 69, Rochester, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Good Family Funeral Home.

He died at 4:14 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, in his residence.

Pastor Phil Pratt will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Doris Jean Plowman

WINAMAC - Memorial services for Doris Jean Plowman, 81, Winamac, will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, in Frain Mortuary, Winamac.

She died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday in Life Care Center of Rochester.

Pastor Mark Pilger will officiate.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Wednesday in the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to Starke County Humane Society.

Catherine ‘Kay’ Susan West

COUNCIL BLUFFS - Services for Catherine “Kay” Susan West, 63, Union, Neb., will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. A lunch will follow at “The Pad,” Lake Wakonda.

She met with the Lord on Oct. 2, 2008, after a five-year battle with breast and ovarian cancers.

She was born in Logansport to William and Catherine Roberts. She met her future husband, Adam, in San Antonio, Texas in 1977 and they married two years later in 1979.

They moved to Lytle, Texas, in 1980, where they resided for 27 years.

Kay worked as a coordinator for the Bexar County Hospital District, San Antonio, Texas, until she gave up her job to care for John’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. A.G. West.

She moved with her husband back to the Omaha area in 2007 upon his retirement.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Adam, Union, Neb.; daughters, Christina and husband, Barry Justice, Jeffersonville, Laurie and husband, Richard Hankee, Logansport; sons, Donald and his wife, Tammy Dowell, Walton, Robert Dowell, Logansport, Nathan Sowinski, Greenville, S.C., James, Devine, Texas; sister, Sally Zellers, Logansport; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Elna M. Miller

MONTICELLO - Services for Elna M. Miller, 91, Monticello, formerly of Monon, will be held at noon Monday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello.

She died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in her son’s residence in Logansport.

Born Saturday, Feb. 3, 1917, in Francesville, she was the daughter of Robert Kopka and May Swing. She was married May 21, 1936, in Winamac, to Dean G. Miller, who preceded in death on Jan. 30, 2007.

Elna lived in the Monon community for more than 70 years. She had been a resident of Lakeview Commons in Monticello since October 2006.

Elna was the third oldest of four children. She attended a country school for six years and then graduated from Francesville High School in 1934.

She was a loving and proud wife and mother. She was employed in the White County treasurer’s office in Monticello for 10 years. Elna had served on the White County REMC board of directors for several years in the 1960s.

She was a member of the Monon United Methodist Church in Monon, Worthy Matron of Monon Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and former member of Tippecanoe Country Club women’s golf league and local bridge clubs.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Armstrong and husband, Bob, Carmel; son Jerry Miller and wife, Ann, Logansport; sister Doris Rech, Des Moines, Iowa; granddaughters Dawn Puck and husband, David, Huntersville, N.C., Stephanie Combs and husband, Chris, Fishers, and Shelby Graham and husband, Brian, Logansport; grandsons R. Todd Armstrong and wife, Shannon, Huntersville, N.C., Scott Miller and wife, Lisa, Tell City, and Lt. Buzz Miller and wife, Alyson, Ridgecrest, Calif.; 13 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

A brother, Herbert Kopka; and sister, Lorine Graves, preceded in death.

Rev. Russ Alley of the Monon United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Bedford Cemetery in rural Monon.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Monon United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
