Janet R. Crumley
Janet R. Crumley, 55, of Fort Wayne, IN, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998 in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born Aug. 6, 1943 to Russell and Martha (Cripe) Bollinger; she was a native of Ashland, OH.
She was a member of Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren, Ft. Wayne, and of the church choir. She was employed as group health claims processor for 20 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina Tarr of New Haven, IN and Crystal Baker of Howe, IN; four sisters - Retha Bechtelheimer of Sebring, FL, Anita Cline of Falls Church, VA, Karen Hand of Claypool, IN and Christine Beery of North Manchester; four brothers - Rex Bollinger of Pomona, CA, Wade Bollinger of Tucson, AZ, Lynn Bollinger of Goshen, IN, and John Bollinger of North Manchester, IN; three grandchildren - Clay Crumley, Kyle Baker and Aaron Baker.
Graveside service was held Thursday morning, Dec. 24, 1998 at the New Paris (IN) Cemetery; memorial service was held Thursday afternoon at the Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren, 2810 Beacon St., Fort Wayne, IN.
Preferred memorials are to Beacon Heights Church of the Brethren and/or the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN was in charge of arrangements.

Virginia M. Smith
Virginia May Smith, 75, a resident of Peabody Retirement Community, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998 at Wabash County Hospital, Wabash, IN. She was born Feb. 25, 1923 in Whitley County, IN to Virgil Glenn and Opal May (Lehman) Little. She married John Lester Smith on April 3, 1942 in Wabash County; he preceded her in death on August 27, 1990.
She was a member of the North Manchester United Methodist Church and the Faith Circle of the church. She was a 50+ year member of the Jolly Janes Extension Homemakers Club. She was active in Pleasant Township 4-H work, serving as a 4-H leader and with the 4-H Council Advisory Board. She was a longtime resident of the Disko/Roann area.
Survivors include two daughters - Barbara Amiss of North Manchester and Mrs. John (Beverly) Fitzpatrick of Albion, IN; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Morford of North Manchester; a brother, Maurice Little of Bippus, IN; grandsons David Amiss of North Manchester and Sean Fitzpatrick of Albion; and granddaughter, Sarah Fitzpatrick of Albion.
Friends may call at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral will be held at Peabody Chapel, Peabody Retirement Community on Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. with the Revs. William Hemmig and Robert Schmeiser officiating. Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery of Servia, IN.
Preferred memorials are to the North Manchester United Methodist Church or to the Wabash County Hospital Oncology Department. Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Wilma J. Creager
Wilma Johnette Creager, 66, a resident of Timbercrest Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born March 29, 1931 in Fulton County, Indiana to John F. and Dorothy P. (Parker) Kuhn. She married Donald E. Creager Feb. 19, 1962 and he died Feb. 22, 1977
She and her husband were former owners of Creager's Poly Klean, North Manchester, for 10 years. She was a member of the Laketon Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Penny Piper) Bennett, North Manchester; grandchildren, Kerry Ashton of Pennsylvania, Kelly (Ashton) Longanecker and Korry Ashton, both of North Manchester; a great grandson, Andrew John Longanecker; step grandchildren, Heather Bennett Blocher and Amy Bennett of North Manchester, and Tim Bennett of Evansville, IN; sisters Mrs. Eli (Donna) Yoder of Rochester; Ruth Evelyn McLaughlin of Kalamazoo, MI, Mrs. John (Ella Mae) Young of Lapel, IN, and Rose Norman of Peru, IN; a brother, Jerry Kuhn of Macy, IN. There are also several nieces and nephews and four aunts who survive. Four brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral service was held Saturday, February 14, 1998 at Timbercrest Chapel, Timbercrest Church of the Brethren Home, with Rev. Tim Hibschman officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Preferred memorials are to Timbercrest Church of the Brethren Home.

Russell Knight
Russell Knight, 87, former Columbia City resident, died at the Hazard Community Hospital, Hazard, KY on February 10, 1998. He had been in failing health for two years.
He was born April 3, 1910 in Huntington, W. VA to Thomas and Stella (Chapman) Knight. He married Ruby Lewis on September 15, 1942. She died December 30, 1986.
They lived in Carrs Fork, KY before moving to Columbia City in 1968. He was employed at the Holmes Lumber Co., Columbia City, until his retirement in 1978. He had returned to live in Kentucky in 1994.
Surviving are four sons: George (Raymolee), Lesage, W. Va.; Homer (Patricia), Columbia City; Russell Wayne (Imogene), North Manchester; Roger (Roxanne) Columbia City. Three daughters: Mrs. Luther (Mary Lou) Pratt, Viper, Ky.; Patricia Sue Galbreath, Hastings, MI; Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Burkhead, Vicco, Ky; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and a sister, Lola Butcher of Junction City, OH. Three grandchildren and a sister preceded him in death.
Services were held February 12, 1998 at Happy Freewill Baptist Church, Happy, KY. Burial was in the Bailey Cemetery, Kodak, Ky.

Ernest R. White
Ernest Ray White, 79, of Roann, IN died February 14, 1998 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. He was born Jan. 20, 1919 at Kentland, IN to Frank and Florence (Allen) White. He married Alice Sheets Oct. 21, 1945 in Kentland, IN.
He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of Roann American Legion, FOP of Wabash, and Indiana Sheriff Association. He was a 1939 graduate of Kentland High School, and former member of Roann Lions club. He served as janitor for Metropolitan School District of Wabash County, and for merly worked at Sherman White's Creamery in Goodland, IN.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, of Roann; two sons - Richard White of San Antonio, TX and Gary White of Gilead, IN; a daughter, Debra Arnett of Roann; a brother Robert White of Kentland; and grandchildren Michael, Brian, Kimberly Scott, and Kristopher White; Amber, Blake, and Shana Turpen; Matthew and Nicholas Rife, and Trina Hickert; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral service was held this morning, Feb. 18, 1998, at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel with the Rev. Robert Armstrong officiating. Burial was in Roann Community Cemetery.
Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Berniece C. Kline
Berniece Catherine Kline, 89, of 305 Circle Dr., Huntington, IN died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998 at her residence. Mrs. Kline was born April 5, 1908 in North Manchester IN to Mahlon and Susannah (Butterbaugh) Heeter. She married George C. Kline July 17, 1927 in North Manchester, and he died Feb. 4, 1969.
Mrs. Kline was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ the King Episcopal Church of Huntington. A member of Erie Lackawanna Veterans Association, Happy Grandmothers Club, Past Noble Grand, Democrat Women's Club, Jolly Rebeckahs, Huntington County Extension Home-makers, Royal Neighbors of America, and Senior Citizens of Huntington County.
Survivors include a son, Edward T. Kline of Huntington; four daughters - Mrs. Alvin (Patricia) Heaston, Mrs. Paul (JoAnn) Dolby, Jr., Mrs. Larry (Sue) Holloway, Mrs. William (Carmen) Oswalt, all of Huntington; 14 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren. A grandson and a great-granddaughter, as well as a sister, Ruth Burkhart, preceded her in death.
Funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at Christ the King Episcopal Church, with Rev. Margaret Harker officiating. Preferred memorials are to Christ the King Episcopal Church, 1224 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.
Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN was in charge of arrangements.

Edward Collins
Edward Collins, 67, of 7836 W River Road, Roann, IN, died Monday, February 16, 1998 at Millers Merry Manor West, Wabash, IN. He was born March 14, 1930 at Sarah Ann, WV to Charles and Carmen (Chattie Damron) Collins, both deceased. He married Mildred M. Sargent Sept. 20, 1951.
He was a plant manager in the mineral wool industry. He moved to Roann in 1978. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife Mildred of Roann; sons David Collins of Climax, MI and Terry Collins of Portage, MI; a daughter Cathy Lyons of Roann; four brothers - Orville Collins of Battle Creek, MI, John Collins of Kalamazoo, MI, Woodrow Collins of Constantine, MI, and Ora Collins of Chapmanville, WV; a sister, Beatrice Sir of Daytona, FL; and eight grandchildren. Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call Thursday, Feb. 19, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Farley-Estes-Dowdle Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster, in Augusta, MI. Funeral services will be held at the Augusta Chapel Friday, Feb. 20, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Collins officiating. Burial will take place in the Ft. Custer National Cemetery of Augusta, MI.
Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel is in charge of local arrangements.

Mildred M. Shull
Mildred (Morgan) Shull, 91, a resident of Timbercrest Retirement Community, died at Timbercrest Monday, March 22, 1999. She was born Dec. 16, 1907 at Oxford, WI to Arthur A. and Grace (Galloway) Morgan. She married W. Russell Shull June 24, 1972, and he preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1985.
She graduated from Whitewater State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Education degree; she later earned a Masters degree in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI.
She was a retired science teacher after having taught 37 years at Ottawa (IL) Twp. High School. She was a member of Manchester Church of the Brethren. She was a charter member of Chapter EH of Illinois PEO; a charter member of Chapter DK of Indiana PEO. She also held membership in Omicron chapter of Delta Kappa
Gamma (Illinois) and Alpha Zeta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (Indiana). She was active in the Illinois and Wabash County (IN) Retired Teachers Associations, and American Association of University Women.
Survivors include two stepdaughters - Iris Zieger of Michigan and Bonnie Schulz of Flossmore, IL; a sister, Mrs. Betty Sanderson of Wichita, KS; six step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren.
Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held Saturday, April 3, 1999, 2:00 p.m. at Timbercrest Chapel. The Rev. Charles Lunkley will officiate. Graveside services will take place at 10:00 a.m. April 3 at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Arrangements are by DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel. Memorials may be made to Timbercrest or Heifer Project International, c/o DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary.

Kenneth I. Morse
Kenneth I. Morse, 85, of 309 Hickory Lane, Timbercrest Community, North Manchester, IN, died Tuesday, March 23, 1999 at Wabash Skilled Care Center, Wabash, IN. He was born May 30, 1913 at Altoona, PA to Herman and Sadie (Bennett) Morse. He married Marjorie L. Hanawalt Dec. 23, 1941 and she survives.
Mr. Morse earned the B.A. degree at Juniata College of Huntingdon, PA; attended Princeton University, and earned M.A. degree at Pennsylvania State College. He received an Honorary Doctor of Letters from Juniata College.
Mr. Morse was the Editor of the Church of the Brethren publication Messenger for 21 years. Later, he was book editor with the Brethren Press at Elgin, IL. An author, he also wrote the words to many published hymns, including the popular Brethren hymn, "Move In Our Midst."
Survivors include three sons - David Morse of Julian, CA, Paul Morse of Paris, France, and Steve Morse of Gulf Shores, AL; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Mary) Dillenbeck of Santa Cruz, CA and Betsy Morse of North Manchester; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren.
Friends may call at Timbercrest Chapel, 2201 East Street, No. Manchester, IN Friday, March 26, 1999 from 9 to 11 a.m. Date and time for the funeral will be announced at a later time.

Orvall E. Hoagland
Orvall E. Hoagland, 73, of 103 S. Market Street, North Manchester, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at Millers Merry Manor N.H., Huntington, IN. He was born at Laketon, IN Mar. 18, 1925 to Roy and Marie (Baker) Hoagland. He married Pauline Walker in Warsaw, IN on June 10, 1949, and she survives.
He retired from Container Corporation in Wabash in 1986 after 38 years. He was a World War II Army Veteran, having received the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion, both of North Manchester.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Roy T. Hoagland of Claypool; a daughter, Nancy Louise Joiner of Hopkinsville, KY; five brothers - Verl Hoagland of North Manchester, Bob Hoagland of Hamilton, OH, Homer R. Hoagland of Muskegon, MI; Ervin Hoagland and J. R. Hoagland, both of Warsaw; two sisters - Mrs. Marvin (Evon) Czpansky of South Bend and Mrs. Richard (Adalee) Swanson of Atwood; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held Saturday, March 20, 1999 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester, with the Rev. Chad Burkhart officiating. Burial was in South Pleasant Cemetery, located at Wabash County. Military graveside services were conducted by the Wabash Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 286. Duane Truss presented the flag; George Thompson was the bugler.
Arrangements were by Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel.

Charles O. Davis
Charles O. "Chuck" Davis, 60, of 256 Allen St., Wabash, IN, died Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at his residence. He was born Dec. 16, 1938 at Wabash, IN to William E. and Lela Gladys (McNeely) Davis. He married Janice Eller Kilander in Wabash Oct. 10, 1964; she died May 2, 1985.
Chuck was a foreman in the press room at General Tire Plant in Wabash for 19 years, and was a western square dance caller for 25 years.
Survivors include a son, Danny L. Davis of Sand Lake, MI; his mother, Lela Gladys King of Peru; Mrs. Jack (JoAnn) Miracle of Lagro; two brothers, Richard L. King, Sr. of Wabash and Raymond King of Peru; and two grandchildren. A brother preceded him in death.
Funeral service was held Monday, March 22, 1999 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Main Street Chapel, Wabash, with Pastor Tom Cross officiating. Entombment was in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, located at Marion, IN.
