Jeffrey James Rhoads
Jeffrey James Rhoads, 28, of 924 Cottage Ave., Wabash, IN, died at his residence Saturday, June 1, 2002. He was born July 8, 1973 at Marion, IN to James Rhoads and Candice "Kandi" (Hentgen) Jacobs.
He was a 1991 graduate of Northfield High School and attended Ball State University. He was affiliated with the Roann Niconza Christian Fellowship Church. He worked as a machinist for Ford Meter Box, Wabash. He was involved in Wabash Community Service Softball, loved golfing, fishing, NASCAR and all sports.
Survivors include h is parents, Robert "Bob" and Candice "Kandi" Jacobs of Lafontaine, IN; a brother Tyler Jacobs, of Lafontaine; grandparents Dwight and Maxine Hentgen of Roann, and Don and Reba Jacobs of Lafontaine; an uncle, Steven (Jane) Hentgen of Wabash, and an aunt, Mrs. Larry (Karen) Smalley of Urbana; and six cousins.
Friends may call Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Grandstaff-Hentgen, Manchester Avenue Chapel, 1241 Manchester Ave., Wabash. Funeral service will be held at the Manchester Ave. Chapel Thursday, June 6, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Phil Medsger officiating. Entombment will take place in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.

Leon Lines
Services for F. Leon Lines, 92, of North Manchester, IN were held Tuesday morning, May 28, 2002 at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary No. Manchester Chapel with Father Ron Ramenaden officiating. Burial was in South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley, IN. Arrangements were by DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary No. Manchester Chapel.

Curtis L. Davis
Curtis L. Davis, 90, of 7432 S. Caldwell Lake Dr., Claypool, IN, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at 11:00 p.m. at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw, IN. He was born August 25, 1911 at Huntington, IN to John and Susie (France) Davis. He married JoAnn Smith October 5, 1971, and she survives.
He was a conductor for the Erie Railroad, retiring after 41 years. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife JoAnn; a step daughter, Mrs. Rick (Sally) Bemis of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Floyd Davis of Huntington, IN and a sister Betty Fesmire of Anderson, IN. A brother and three sisters preceded him in death.
There are no funeral arrangements. DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, Silver Lake Chapel was in charge.

Velma E. Felabom
Velma E. Felabom, 101, a resident of Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, died Saturday evening, June 8, 2002 at Peabody Healthcare Center. She was born May 12, 1901 at Tunker, IN to H.G. and Emma (Steele) Penn. She was a homemaker, farmer, and Tupperware dealer, retiring at age 85. She married J. Early Felabom on April 19, 1922; he died June 8, 1969.
She was a member of he Congregational Christian Church of North Manchester. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of Ivy Chapter #69 Order of Eastern Star of North Manchester, and was a former member of the Country Women's Club.
She is survived by a son, Gene Felabom of Warsaw, and a sister, Ethel Willette of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. One son, Richard Felabom died in 2000; also a grandchild is deceased, and six brothers and a sister.
Friends may call Friday, June 14, 2002 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel. Funeral will be held Saturday, June 15, 10:30 a.m. at DeLaughter's with Rev. J. P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery of Servia.
Preferred memorials are to Peabody Retirement Community or Congregational Christian Church.

Pauline M. Hoffman
Pauline M. Hoffman, 92, a former resident of Logansport, IN, and more recently a resident of Peabody Retirement Home, North Manchester, IN, died June 7, 2002 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, IN. She was born January 26, 1910 at Akron, IN to Wilbur and Aura (Cornwell) Hammond. She married Claude A. Hoffman September 20, 1937 at Akron; he died Sept. 21, 1990.
She was a retired nurse from Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI, and a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Logansport, IN.
Survivors include a brother Maurice (Jack) Hammond of North Manchester; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Monday, June 10, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Rev. Michael Dominick officiating. Interment was at Ever-Rest Memorial Park of Logansport, Indiana.

Hattie Jane Rhoades
Hattie Jane Rhoades, 74, a resident of Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN, died Sunday morning, June 9, 2002 at Peabody Healthcare Center. She was born June 10, 1927 at North Manchester to Chester and Lula (Fredrick) Grossnickle. She married Delbert Milton Rhoades on Oct. 12, 1945; he died January 27, 1992.
She had been an inspector at Controls Co. of North Manchester for 32 years. She was a 1945 graduate of Central High School, and was a member of First Brethren Church of North Manchester.
She is survived by sons Gene Rhoades and Steve E. Rhoades, both of North Manchester. A third son, David M. Rhoades, died in 2001. A brother, Donald Grossnickle of Chilicothe, OH and a sister, Helen Vandermark of North Manchester also survive along with four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
A graveside funeral was held Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Chaplain H. Jordan Truman will officiate. DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family requests no flowers; rather, memorials to Alzheimer's Association for research will be appreciated.

Julie M. McKinley
Services for Julie M. McKinley, 78, of North Manchester, IN were held Monday morning at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, No. Manchester Chapel with Rev. J. P. Freeman officiating. Peggy Boggs presided at the organ.
Burial was in Lagro Cemetery. DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary No. Manchester Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas D. Dunlavy
Services for Thomas D. Dunlavy, 70, of Ft. Wayne, IN and formerly of North Manchester, IN, were held Saturday morning, June 8, 2002 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Manchester, IN. Pastor Jeffrey L. Hawkins officiated and Robin Gratz presided at the organ. Ed Cable was the flutist.
Remembrances were given by Dr. Jean Tribolet and Ruth Ann Wittler. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Honorary pallbearers were Louis Abney, Jr., Marvin Courtney, Robert Garman, Brian Marcus, Gregory Marcus, Dean Mitchell, William Osha, Don Scheiber, and Charles Stroh. DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary North Manchester Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Neal A. Oldfather
Services for Neal A. Oldfather, 48, of Indianapolis, IN were held Saturday afternoon at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, No. Manchester Chapel with Rev. Andy Trowbridge officiating. Presiding at the organ was Naomi Floor.
Burial was at Memorial Lawns Cemetery of Wabash, IN. Pallbearers were Jim Oldfather, Randy Oldfather, Jeremy Oldfather, Mike Jacobs, Walter Fulton, and Sam Jacobs.

Ruth E. Snyder
Services for Ruth E. Snyder, 75, of North Manchester, IN were held Wednesday afternoon, June 5, 2002 at Timbercrest Chapel with Pastor Susan Boyer and Chaplain David Doudt officiating. Mary Lutz presided at the organ.
Burial was at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, IN. Pallbearers were Rachel Miller, Joel Miller, Ben Cox, Sam Cox, Mary Cox, Dan Snyder, and Allison Snyder. Honorary pallbearers were Mackenzie Sain and Christopher Sain.
DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Max I. Allen
Max I. Allen, 89, a resident of Timbercrest Retirement Community, North Manchester, IN, was dead on arrival at the emergency room of Dukes Memorial Hospital of Peru, IN on June 15, 2002. He was born March 19, 1913 at Markle, IN to William M. and Eurilla (Fry) Allen. He married Sarah "Sally" Mertz May 29, 1936 and she preceded him in death March 7, 1994.
A fine arts educator and 40-year chairman of Manchester College Art Department, he graduated from Manchester College in 1934 with a triple major in Art, Music, and Biology. He obtained a Fine Arts degree from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1939 and a Masters of Fine Arts from Indiana University in 1951. He was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren.
Area residents enjoyed his teaming with the late Genita Speicher for numerous duo piano and organ concerts. He served as choir director and organist for the North Manchester United Methodist Church for 20 years. He served with his wife as joint President of the North Manchester Historical Society and both shared their lives promoting the arts. His influence as an art educator remains as an active legacy throughout public school systems.
Mr. Allen is survived by two sons - Drew Allen of North Manchester and Bill Allen of Warsaw; a daughter, Janet Elizabeth Nine of Carmel, IN; five grandchildren and two step grandchildren; two great grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 19, 2002, 12:30 p.m. at the North Manchester United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bruce Hostetler officiating. Burial was at Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville, IN.
DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are to the Max Allen Arts Scholarship Fund, c/o Manchester College.

Danny Clay Tucker
Danny Clay Tucker, 51, of 56 Pawling St., Wabash, IN, died June 11, 2002 at 500S east of 700E, Lincolnville, IN. He was born Feb. 11, 1951 at Wabash, IN to Orville Tucker and Doris Gaines Carpenter. He married Debra Harlan in Wabash on January 28, 1974. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Wabash Alloys for 30 years. He was a member of the Wabash Eagles Lodge and loved to fish and deer hunt.
Survivors include his wife, Debra, of Wabash; his parents Orville Tucker of Andrews and Doris Carpenter of Lincolnville, IN; a daughter, Kerri Tucker of Wabash; a son, Jeremy Tucker of Wabash; grandsons Hunter Tucker and Jalen Boggs, both of Wabash; and sisters Sherry Baumbauer, Serens Bitzel and Doretta Tucker, all of Lincolnville, IN.
Funeral service was held Friday, June 14, 2002 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel with Rev. Ron Lane officiating.

Lorene M. Lake
Lorene M. Lake, 94, of 600 Washington St., Wabash, IN, died June 9, 2002 at AmeriCare Living Center of Wabash, IN. She was born June 10, 1907 at Jennings County, IN to Pearl Jackson and Ethel May (Byarm) Hite.
She married Forrest E. Lake in Wabash on March 10, 1981; he preceded her in death. She is survived by her guardian, Sue Ann Shelton of Fort Wayne.
Memorial service was held Friday, June 14, 2002 at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Grandstaff-Hentgen Manchester Ave. Chapel was in charge of arrangements. The memorial guest book for Lorene can be signed on-line at grandstaff-hentgen.com.
