George O. Wissel
George O. Wissel, age 56, died Monday (October 6, 2003) in Richmond at the home of his sister. He was born in Richmond on April 13, 1947 to Peter and Marcia Clevenger Wissel. He had owned and operated a collection agency in Muncie and had worked for Manpower in Connersville. He had worked as a golf instructor and was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and was a 32 year member of the Optimist Club where he was a past president and past district officer
Survivors include – Wife – Theresa Glass Wissel of Connersville
Daughter – Christine Perotti of Fort Collins, Colorado
Sons – George Wissel of Mooreland, Indiana
Antony Wissel of Indianapolis
Andrew Wissel of Atlanta, Georgia
Timothy Wissel of Anderson
Sisters – Edna Pietsch of West Lafayette, Indiana
Jeanne Kelly of Richmond
Nancy Godbey of New Hampshire
Brothers – William Wissel of Indianapolis
Joseph Wissel of Indianapolis
Grandchildren – Kari Elizabeth Wissel, Taylor Alexis Wissel, Peter Wissel, Colin W. Perotti, Kerysten Smith
Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews
His parents; brothers David Wissel, John Wissel, Peter Wissel Jr.; and a sister, Susan Wissel, are also deceased.
Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday (October 9, 2003) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary.
Father Todd Riebe will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday (October 9, 2003) from 3 – 6 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Connersville Optimist Club, PO Box 202, Connersville, Indiana 47331.

Clarence Wilson
Clarence Wilson, age 89, formerly of Richmond, died Friday evening (October 3, 2003) at Flatrock River Lodge in Rushville. He had lived in Richmond before moving to Rushville about four years ago.
There are no immediate survivors
There are no services or visitation planned. Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday (October 7, 2003) in Earlham Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary

Edith E. Smith
Edith E. Milbourn Smith, age 90, formerly of Richmond, died Sunday (October 26, 2003) in Bradenton, Florida. She was born in Morristown, Indiana on December 5, 1912 to Charles R. and Mary M. Foxworhy Milbourn and had lived in this area most of her life. She attended Earlham College and was a graduate of Purdue University . She was a homemaker and had taught school at Williamsburg High School. She was a former member of First Friends Meeting and attended Roser Memorial Church in Anna Maria, Florida. Her husband, Dr. William E. Smith, whom she married in 1936, died in 2001.
Survivors include: Sons – Lawrence M. Smith of Williamsburg, Indiana
Richard W. Smith of Bradenton, Florida
Her daughter, Dr. Carolyn Smith Blakey, died in October of this year. A brother and a sister are also deceased.
A memorial service for Dr. William E. and Edith E. Smith will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday (November 9, 2003) in Stout Memorial Meeting House on Earlham College Campus. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s favorite charity. Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Alice J. Michaels
Alice J. Michaels, age 69, of Richmond, died Tuesday (October 14, 2003) at Reid Hospital. She was born in Indianapolis and was a former employee of the Aurora Program at Reid Hospital.
Survivors include – Brother – Michael Hunt of Greenfield, Indiana
Cousins
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday (October 18, 2003) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday (October 18, 2003) from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM at the funeral home

Florence A. "Patches" Renner
Florence A. “Patches” Renner, age 56, formerly of Richmond, died unexpectedly Tuesday (October 21, 2003) in LaFollette, Tennessee. She was born in Winchester, Indiana on January 17, 1947 and had lived in Richmond before moving to Tennessee one year ago.
Survivors include: Husband – Ernie Eugene Renner (to whom she was married 18 years)
Step-sons – Leland Renner of Tennessee
Ivan Renner of Richmond
Josh Renner of Richmond
Sister – Vickie Jones of Richmond
Her mother, Betty Brimm, died on May 21, 2003 and a brother, William M Sheppard, died on March 22, 2003
Graveside services were held on Friday (October 24, 2003) in the Huntsville Cemetery.
Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Robert E. Heitzman
The Lord called Robert E. Heitzman home on Wednesday (October 22, 2003) after a lengthly illness while residing at Golden Rule-Beverly Healthcare. He was born in Richmond on July 15, 1926 to Herman and Marie Martha Mathews Heitzman and had lived here most of his life. He had worked as a bartender and was the former owner/operator of his own roofing company. He was a World War II veteran of the US Army and was a member of American Legion Post 315.
Survivors include: Ex-wife – Betty Heitzman of Richmond
Sons – Larry E. Heitzman of Richmond
Gary J. (wife June) Heitzman of Odessa, Florida
Robert E. Heitzman II of Richmond
David A. Heitzman of Martinsville, Indiana
Daughters – Laura A. Moore (husband Robert) of Eldorado, Illinois
Theresa K. Clegg of Goldsboro, North Carolina
Sister – Janice Brantner of Richmond
Grandsons – Edward Wayne Barnes of Richmond
David R. Clegg of Richmond

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday (October 27, 2003) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Chuck Cotton will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery where military graveside services will be conducted by the Wayne County Veterans Council Friends may call on Sunday (October 26, 2003) from 3 – 5 pm at the funeral home.

Virginia Buche Lawler
Virginia Buche Lawler, age 94, of Richmond, died Friday morning (October 10, 2003) at Friends Fellowship Community. She was born in Richmond on October 17, 1908 to Frederick and Cecilia Meagher Buche and had lived here all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Saint Mary Church. Her husband, Charles Lawler, died in 1987.
Survivors include: Sons – Rev. David Lawler of Indianapolis
James P. Lawler of Cincinnati, Ohio
Daughter – Jane Spille of Cincinnati, Ohio
5 Grandchildren
3 Great Grandchildren
Nieces & Nephews
A son, Monsignor Richard Lawler, 4 brothers and 2 sisters are also deceased.
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Monday (October 13, 2003) in Saint Mary Church (Richmond). Friends may call from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday (October 13, 2003) at the Church. Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary Church. Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
