Myrtle I. Avery
Date: 2005-09-06
Myrtle Irene Avery, age 94, of Richmond, died Tuesday (September 6, 2005) at Golden Rule – Beverly Healthcare after a short illness. She was born in Preble County, Ohio on April 28, 1911 to Albert and Emma Hapner Petry and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Charles W. Avery, died on February 1, 1989.
Survivors include – Daughter – Marilyn (J. Charlie) Lea of Richmond
Several Nieces & Nephews
Two brothers, Morton and Raymond Petry, and two sisters Opal Neinke and Rachel Stevens, are also deceased.
A private service will be held on Friday (September 9, 2005) at 11:30 am (Indiana time) in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio. Rev. Paul Mingus will officiate. There will be no public calling. Memorial contributions may be made to HELP the Animals, 2101 West Main Street, Richmond, IN 47374. Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary is in charge of arrangements

Robert J. Cook
Date: 2005-09-17
Robert J. Cook, age 42, of Richmond, died Saturday morning (September 17, 2005) at his residence. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 18, 1962 to Arthur J. and Tomie Kasai Cook and had lived here for the past 20 years. He was a graduate of South Dearborn High School and had attended Earlham College. He had worked for Transilwrap Manufacturing and had also been a student at Indiana University East. He was a member and Elder at Christ Presbyterian Church where he was also active with the youth group program and taught Sunday school. Bob taught so many of us how to live. Only God can fill the void that he leaves.
Survivors include – Wife – Cindy McIntosh Cook (whom he married January 20, 1990)
Four sons – Gabriel, Caleb, Isaac and Aaron Cook
His mother – Tomie Courtney of Blue Ash, Ohio
Sisters – Rose Lasley of Cincinnati, Ohio
Rita Brown of Aurora, Indiana
Brother – Ron Cook of Farmers Retreat, Indiana
Nieces & Nephews
His father, Arthur J. Cook, died in 2001
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday (September 20, 2005) in Christ Presbyterian Church (350 Henley Road, Richmond). Rev. Tom Stein, Rev. Dale Kulp and Rev. Alan Mills will officiate. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday (September 19, 2005) from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary (32 South 11th Street, Richmond). Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Presbyterian Church, 350 Henley Road, Richmond, Indiana 47374.

Elijah E. Navarrete

Elijah E. Navarrete, age 14 months, of Richmond, died Monday morning (September 19, 2005) at his residence. He was born in Richmond on July 14, 2004.

He is also survived by his Godmother, Georgiana Gibson, and special friend Diane Angilella
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 pm on Saturday (September 24, 2005) in Saint Andrew Church. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday (September 23, 2005) from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary.

Betty J. Whitton
Betty J. Whitton, age 82, of Richmond, died Sunday morning (September 24, 2005) at Oakridge Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Centerville, Indiana on May 13, 1923 to Evart and Ada Adair Wissler and had lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of Centerville High School and had worked at the former Ben Franklin Variety Store and at the former Harris Variety Store. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School for 49 years. Her husband, Lester Whitton, died on August 9, 1995.
Survivors include – Daughters – Bonnie Pierson of Richmond
Pat Luebbe of Richmond
Son – Tom Whitton of Vienna, Virginia
Sister – Jo Yost of Winchester, Indiana

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday (September 28, 2005) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Lester Maples will officiate. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday (September 27, 2005) from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 121 S.W. “E” Street, Richmond, IN 47374.

Hilda Frances Phillips
Date: 2005-09-27
Hilda Frances Phillips, age 78, of Richmond, died Tuesday (September 27, 2005) at her residence. She was born in Greenfield, Indiana on June 2, 1927 to Wesley and Anna Mae Trent Catt and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a retired employee of Hill Floral.

Daughter – Holly McGill of Georgia

Wanda J. Freeman Haas
Date: 2005-09-28
Wanda J. Freeman Haas, age 82, who resided at the Leland Residence, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening (September 28, 2005) at her home. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on May 24, 1923, was adopted by Joseph and Myrtle Thomas Freeman, and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a graduate of Richmond High School and a 1945 graduate of Earlham College. She was a music teacher and taught school at Hagerstown and Greens Fork. She retired from the Union School Corporation in Modoc after more than 45 years in the teaching profession. She had also taught private violin lessons. She was member of the Society of Friends and was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She had served as a board member of the Lauramoore Friends Home. Wanda loved animals and music and was a friend to everyone.

Grandchildren – Jenna and Andy Wilson

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday (October 3, 2005) in Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary. Chaplain David Garman will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday (October 2, 2005) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm where a Quaker memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Lauramoore Friends Home, 504 N.W. 5th Street, Richmond, IN 47374

Joyce A. Lambert

Joyce A. Lambert, age 68, of Richmond, died Friday (September 30, 2005) at her residence. She was born in Richmond on July 4, 1937 to Fred and Dorothy Bode Killen and had lived here all of her life. She was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church where she participated as a Stephen Minister. She had worked for the Animal Welfare Shelter. Her husband, Alfred S. Lambert, died on October 28, 1997.
Survivors include – Daughter – Kathy Braughton of Richmond
Son – John McConkey of Englewoood, Ohio
Sister – Marilyn Greeson of Richmond
Granddaughter – Kaitlin McConkey

Steven K. McAdams

Steven K. McAdams, age 46, formerly of Richmond, died Thursday (October 13, 2005) at his residence in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born in Indianapolis on August 2, 1959 to Herb and Patty Varner McAdams and had lived in this area most of his life before moving to Arizona 4 years ago. He was a graduate of Richmond High School and a veteran of the US Air Force.
