Betty Ann Hargitt
Betty Ann (Essex) Hargitt passed from this life Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at The Sweet Life at Rosehill in Shawnee, KS. Betty was born Oct. 8, 1921, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Arthur and Grace (Fifer) Essex. On September 24, 1950 she married Glenn Hargitt, and together they built a house and home in Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2004. A 1940 graduate of Pleasant Hill (MO) High School, Betty entered the United States Cadet Nurse Corps during WW II and finished her nursing training at the Independence (MO) Sanitarium and Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She was a mother, a homemaker, a house builder, a nurse, a neighbor, and a faithful and devoted member of the Bethel congregation of the Community of Christ. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Betty is survived by her daughters Grace (Stan) Troeh, Mary (Eric) Huning, Marti (Ron) Bentley; her son David (Cathy) Hargitt, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Memorial service and life celebration will be held at the Community of Christ, 8510 Leavenworth Road, Kansas City, KS on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 2:00 p.m. Gifts in lieu of flowers can be made in Betty's name to the Fisher Center For Alzheimer's Research Foundation.

Arthur Wiswell
Arthur F. Wiswell, 80, of Mission, Kan., died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc.
Mr. Wiswell was a Millwright for Colgate Palmolive from 1946 to 82. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Wiswell; daughters, Cynthia Wright, Mission, Kan., and Angie (Robert) Hoen- scheidt, Leavenworth, Kan.; grandson, Andy (Kris) Sherer; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Keri Sherer; brothers, Paul and Robert Wiswell; and sisters, Louise McClintic, Pearl Kelly, Kathy McCurdy and Linda Garrison.

ALFREDA “ALLIE” MUFIC
Surrounded by loved ones, Allie was welcomed into heaven by her angels on November 3rd after a ten-year battle with breast cancer.
Allie was born in Germany, but lived in Kansas City most of her life. She married her high school sweetheart, Frank, and they raised their two children in Shawnee. Allie worked at JCPRD for many years before she began her dream job as a travel agent when she and Frank moved to Colorado in 1997.
Always quick with a smile, Allie was full of fun and forever doing things to make others feel special. Her kind heart and loving ways will be greatly missed. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 37 years, Frank, of Centennial, Colorado; and her children and grandchildren: Angela Koetting, her husband Mark and daughters Frankie, Darby and Malory of Leawood; Frank Christopher, his wife Tina Garbin, and son Oliver of Denver. Allie also leaves behind a brother, Henry Czugala, his wife Janet and nephews Brian and Matthew; and two sisters-in-laws and their families: Toni Gelpi, husband Phil, children Michael and Elizabeth; and Teri Neusteadter, husband Jeff and son Alex.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Many thanks to all who helped Allie live each day to its fullest. Visitation at Amos Funeral Home, Shawnee from 5-8 pm, Monday, November 7, rosary at 5 pm. Funeral mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee at 10 am, Tuesday, November 8, with burial immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery.

TERESA A. FORTUNE
Teresa A. Fortune, 53, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2007 at the chapel. 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS.
Teresa was preceded in death by her father James (Jim) Tierney and an infant son Jacob Lee Releford. She is survived by her mother, Elsie (Loder) Tierney, husband Cliff of the home; three daughters, Kirsten Releford (Brent) Borden, Kansas City, Mo, Maggie Releford, Overland Park, KS, Amy (Mark) Hudson, Kansas City, MO, and a son Andrew (Sara) Releford, Prairie Village, KS; siblings and their spouses Janet (Kim) Wisner, Lenexa, KS, Shelly Charpentier, Overland Park, KS,
Mike (Kristen) Tierney, Kuwait, Tim (Synthia) Tierney Houston, TX, and Dan (Nancy) Tierney, Overland Park, KS, Loving Nana to Caleb Borden and Luke Releford, loving aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, and love to her St. Luke’s family. Kelly Ann Jones
Our beloved Kelly Ann Jones was taken from us too soon at age 19 years on April 6th, 2008 in Miami, Florida. Her love for life and eternal joy were needed in heaven.BornSeptember 25th, 1988 Kelly attended grade school at St Joseph’s elementary school in Shawnee, Kansas. She attended Bishop Miege High School her Freshman and Sophomore years and then graduated from Mill Valley High School in Shawnee in 2007. She was currently completing her Freshman year at the University of Miami in Florida studying marine science and biology.
Kelly was an excellent student who loved to learn and she excelled at everything she did. She loved school, volleyball, travel, reading, hanging out with her friends, and driving her little red mini-cooper. All who knew Kelly were always impressed with her heart of gold and her friendly and caring demeanor. We are sure Kelly would want us to continue to remember her for how she truly cared about others and how she tackled all life had to offer with vigor, excitement, and hope. We are all extremely fortunate to have been exposed to her incredibly loving and caring personality and we are richer human beings for having known her. We’ll never forget her engaging smile, zest for life, and love for others.
Kelly is preceded in death by her Grandparents Dan and Mabel Jones of Merriam, Kansas and her Grandfather Stuart F. Meyer of Palm Coast, Florida. She is survived by her Grandmother Doris C. Meyer of Palm Coast, Florida, her Mother and Father Jerry C. and Catherine A. Jones, her brother Timothy Colin of Shawnee, Kansas, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the University of Miami. A fund is being created in Kelly’s honor to recognize an outstanding Hecht resident college student each year. Please mail contributions to the University of Miami, in Kelly’s name to P.O. Box 025388, Miami Florida 33102-9811.
Think of Kelly not as gone, but as living; not as a flower that has faded, but rather, a flower that has been transplanted; and nourished by the love and kindness she bestowed on us, and is now blooming in even richer colors and sweeter shades. Her impact on all of us will never fade. All who knew her will see her vibrancy shining through in friends and the world around and in that moment will perpetuate her memory with a warm smile and mischievous wink.

BILL D. ZERBE
Bill D. Zerbe, 79, of Shawnee, KS, died, Thursday, March 10, 2005. Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 14 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 – 4 p.m., Sunday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mr. Zerbe was born in Kansas City, MO. He worked for General Motors for 40 years and retired in 1987. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife, Mary Zerbe; a son, Ray Zerbe; a daughter, Janice Nickason; brothers, Paul and Rancy; sisters, Barbara and Betty and five grandchildren.

HELEN LUCILLE ZIMMER
Helen Zimmer, 81, Shawnee, KS passed away Sunday, April 3rd at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 8th at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation, Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee with the rosary being said at 7:30 PM. Helen is survived by two sons, Stephen Zimmer and Christopher Zimmer, both of Shawnee; six grandchildren; and sisters, Alice Richardson, Irene Smeltzer, and Mary Henke.
