LaBerta E. Moore McBride, 89, Olathe, died Monday, August 7, 2000, at the Johnson County Nursing Center in Olathe. She was born Jan. 11, 1911, in Horton, Kan., the daughter of Charles and Estella Moore. She had lived in Olathe since 1964. She was a graduate of Americus (Kan.) High School and attended Emporia State University, where she received a Life Certificate, a bachelor's degree in education, and a master's degree. She taught school for 41 years and 12 summers, in Lyon County, Johnson County, Emporia and Olathe, where she retired in 1977 from Rolling Ridge Elementary School. She was a life member of the Kansas Education Association, the National Education Association, the Emporia State Alumni Association, the Parent Teachers Association, Job's Daughters and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She also was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star in Emporia. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Cusic; a brother, Gerald Moore; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Schofield. Survivors include a son, Kim McBride, Olathe; a daughter, Kay Martin, Olathe; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Cremation.

Judy McClain
Los angeles - Judy Ann Channel McClain, 51, Thousand Oaks, Calif., died April 7, 2001, at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. She was born March 4, 1950, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Solman Cecil Trammell and Dorothy Lavada Farmer Trammell. She moved to California in 1988; she also lived in Oklahoma from 1972 to 1980, and Des Moines, Iowa, from 1980 to 1988. She was a clerk and cashier for Orchard Supply Hardware Co., Thousand Oaks, Calif. She was a member of Gate Way Church in Agoura Hills, Calif. She was active in her church and was a Sunday School teacher. She volunteered for a battered women's shelter in Ventura, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by four daughters, Melisa "Jordan" Lancaster Alfano, Christina McClain, Shelley McClain and Debra McClain, all of Thousand Oaks; a brother, Ricky Channel, Garnett, Kan.; four sisters, Bertha Coffman and Teri Johnson, both of Olathe, Joyce Martin, Harrison, Ark., and Linda Schempp, Chaffee, N.D. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Graveside services will immediatly follow at 2 p.m. at Gardner Cemetery. Robert McClanahan
Robert D. McClanahan, 60, DeSoto, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. He was born Sept. 16, 1940, in Seneca, Kan., and moved to DeSoto 30 years ago. Before that, he lived in Paola. He was owner and operator of Bob's Drywall, DeSoto. He was married to Carolyn Kay McClanahan. They later divorced. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Grant McClanahan and Nola Fae Smith McClanahan; a sister; and five brothers. Survivors include two sons, Johnny C. McClanahan, Louisburg, and Robert D. McClanahan, Spring Hill; three daughters, Tasha Dionne McClanahan, Olathe, Tanisha Kay McClanahan, Gardner, and Roxanna Lynn McClanahan, Leavenworth; three brothers, Tom McClanahan, Paola, Bill McClanahan, Lawrence, and Jack Carter; three sisters, Katherine Gerken and Mary Jo Scott, both of Paola, and Pat Watkins, Lawrence; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Burial will be in the DeSoto Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon today until service time at the funeral home. Alvie McClasky
Alvie M. McClasky, 74, of Atchison, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at St. Lukes Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. He was born April 29, 1926, in Dearborne, Mo., the son of Manless M. and Eva Jane (Wilson) McClasky. He attended the West Platte High School, Weston, Mo. He was an insurance agent working for Banker Life and Casualty, then promoted to a district manger in Wichita and Topeka, and was promoted again to branch manager in Kansas City, Mo. He also worked for Reserve National Life as a regional manger, and later owned and operated the Alive McClasky Insurance Agency, Atchison. After retiring from insurance, he was an Avon representative and member of the Presidents Club of Avon. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran; a member of St. Joseph Church, Atchison, where he served as an usher; the Fleming-Jackson-Seever American Legion Post No. 6, Atchison, where he served as treasurer; and the Moose Lodge, Topeka; and the Eagles Lodge, Olathe. He was a member of the Holiday Ramble R.V. Club, and enjoyed traveling with his wife on many trips in their travel trailer. He was preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers, and a son, Steven R. McClasky. He was married to Lois Petesch on April 27, 1944, in Atchison. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Donald C. McClasky, Olathe; a sister, Sarah Kindred, Platte City, Mo.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday,Jan. 13, at the St. Joseph Church, with Fr. Bertrand LaNoue, O.S.B. as celebrant. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Atchison. A parish prayer service will be 7 p.m. today at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, with visitation following until 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic Church, or to American Lung Association.

Steven McClasky
Steven Richard McClasky, 55, Olathe, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1945, in Atchison, the son of Alvie and Lois McClasky, and lived in Olathe the past 21 years. He was a 1963 graduate of Atchison High School, and later attended Emporia State and Wichita State universities. He was a member of the Kansas National Guard, was activated to serve in the Vietnam War, and received a Purple Heart. He was construction superintendent for Stonegate Homes in Olathe. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Olathe. Survivors include his wife, Margaret McClasky, of the home; three sons, Alvie McClasky and Dan Pearson, both of the home, and Jeffrey McClasky, Gladstone, Mo.; a daughter, Stephanie Rousseau, Kansas City, Mo.; his parents, Atchison; a brother, Donald McClasky, Olathe; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be noon Wednesday, April 12, at the funeral home; burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Beulah McClellan
Beulah I. McClellan, 78, Gardner, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at Golden Years Care Center, Harrisonville, Mo. She was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Ness City, Kan. She was raised in Junction City, Kan., and moved to Gardner in 1965. She was a homemaker and attended the First Christian Church. She married Julius Eugene McClellan on Jan. 5, 1942, in Junction City. He died Jan. 30, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, SuAnn McClellan and Judith K. Swanson; one grandson, Shaun; and one great-grandson, Joseph. Survivors include five sons, Eugene A. McClellan, Fort Scott, Kan., Harold J. McClellan, Lebanon , Mo., Gary E. McClellan, Gardner,Larry L. McClellan, Billings, Mont., and Randy K. McClellan, Mesa, Az.; two daughters, Cheryl Hunley and Carol J. Rick McClelland
Rick Wayne McClelland, 37, Eudora, died Monday, Sept. 4, 2000, at his home from cancer. He was born Oct. 25, 1962, in Lawrence. He was a painter, and lived most of his life in Lawrence and Eudora. He and his wife Cynthea were married on April 10, 1979. He worked at E & E and did construction painting. Survivors include his wife, Cindy McClelland, of the home; a son, Luke McClelland, of the home; four daughters, Megan McClelland, of the home, Brandi Cadue, Clearview City, Stacy McClelland, Eudora, and Amanda McClelland, Eudora; his father, James McClelland, Lawrence; his mother, Delores McClelland, Eudora; a brother, Jimmy McClelland, Mississippi; four sisters, Debra Schaunburg, Lawrence, Judy Willis, Eudora, and Hannah McClelland and Casey McClelland, both of Lawrence; and four grandchildren. Emily Michelle "Shelley" McCoy, 24, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000, at her home in Louisburg, Kan. She was born May 13, 1975, at Shawnee Mission Hospital and moved to Louisburg in 1983. She had also lived in Olathe. She worked at GARMIN International, Olathe, in technical support. She had also worked as a stable manager for Orion Stables in Louisburg. She was a member of the Miami County Presbyterian Church, Louisburg. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association; the Kansas Thoroughbred Association; the Miami County 4-H Club, Horse Division; and served as a mentor in the Miami County 4-H Club. She graduated from Paola High School in 1993, attended the Seattle Art Institute two years, and then graduated from Johnson County Community College. She also was an aero-avionics student at the University of Kansas. She is survived by her parents, James S. McCoy and Lorray E. White McCoy, Louisburg; a brother, Michael McCoy, Pittsburg, Kan.; a sister, Melissa McCoy, Pittsburg, Kan.; her maternal grandparents, Dale and Monty Donham, Gardner; and an uncle, William White, Joplin, Mo. Rosemary McCreary
Rosemary McCreary, 78, Newton, Kan., died June 7, 2001, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. She was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Reeds, Mo., the daughter of Carl Spencer and Emma Ummell. She moved with her family to Newton in 1959 from Independence, Kan. She married Tracey L. McCreary on Dec. 12, 1942, in Joplin, Mo. She supported her two sons during their high school sports careers and was a booster of NHS activities. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Newton, and a member of the church ladies circles and various bridge clubs in Newton. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Richard Spencer; and a sister, Marcell Daugherty. She is survived by two sons, Dennis McCreary and Terry McCreary, both of Overland Park; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be today at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Bill McDaniel
Bill L. McDaniel, 70, Olathe, died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born Oct. 19, 1930, in Neelyville, Mo., and had lived in Olathe for most of his life. He was retired from the Santa Fe Railroad. Survivors included his wife, Helen McDaniel, of the home;; daughter, Teresa Folker, Olathe; three sons, Jim McDaniel, Houston, and John McDaniel and Chris McDaniel, both of Olathe; three grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Cecil McDaniel
Cecil LeRoy McDaniel, 59, of Spring Hill, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center. He was born Feb. 4, 1942, in Gardner. He moved to Kansas City, Mo., in 1966 and back to Spring Hill in 1980. At age 16, he began working as a heavy equipment operator. He worked for Kidwell Construction in Greenwood, Mo., and Skip McDaniel Excavation Co. in Spring Hill. Last year, he was a self-employed construction clean up contractor. He loved to fish. He married Helen Joy Adams on May 23, 1961, in Olathe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Jim McDaniel and Ruby Marie Frazee McDaniel; and one sister, Denora Edler. Survivors include his wife, Helen McDaniel; one son, Brian Scott and wife Tina McDaniel of Spring Hill; three daughters, Betty Jo Farmer and Kirby Herndon of Gardner, Melissa Kay and husband Greg Browning of Gardner, LeeAnn and husband Mark Johnson of Wellsville; four brothers, Harley McDaniel of Overland Park, Loren "Skip" McDaniel of Spring Hill; J.C. Fern McDougal
Fern L. McDougal, 66, Bonner Springs, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at Providence Place, Kansas City, Kan. She was born June 5, 1934, in Garnett, Kan. She was an assistant manager for Woolco from 1971 to 1983, and retired as a housekeeper at Providence Place this year. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bonner Springs. Survivors include four daughters, Diane Nichols, Brenda King and LeAnn Wilkey, all of Gardner, and Gaylene Colgan, Smithville, Mo.; two brothers, Edwin Lingo, Waverly, and Gary Lingo, Pomona; a sister, Nadine Caple, Pomona; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Lloyd McFarland, 75, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He was born July 15, 1925, in Olathe, the son of LeRoy and Bertha (McClanahan) McFarland. He lived in Olathe most of his life and had worked for the Santa Fe railroad for 35 years. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Avon McFarland. High School, and received a bachelor's degree in education from Baker University, and a master's degree in education at the University of Kansas. She married Charles W. McGowan in 1984 in Gardner. She was a remedial reading teacher in the Olathe District Schools for 16 years. She also taught in Spring Hill, Overland Park and in Illinois. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Olathe. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie W. VanSkike and Mary Etna Hildreth VanSkike. She is survived by her husband; two sons, David Singer, Gardner, and Greg Singer, Edgerton, Kan.; two stepsons, Michael W. McGowan, Lenexa, and Robert S. McGowan, Overland Park; a stepdaughter, D. Rev. Leonard McIntire
The Rev. Leonard Waters McIntire, 80, Mukwonago, Wis., died Friday, June 23, 2000, at the Linden Ridge Health Care Facility in Mukwonago. He was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Wilmington, N.C., the son of Rosa Walters and Motier Williams McIntire. He graduated from Goldsboro High School, Goldsboro, N.C.; attended Presbyterian Church Junior College (now St. Andrew's College in North Carolina); and received a bachelor's degree from Heidelberg College, Tiffin, Ohio. He received a bachelor's degree in divinity from Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio. He was ordained in Olena, Ohio, and served at small country churches in northwestern Ohio. He was director, unit of city and industrial work, and the general presbyter, Presbytery of Scioto, for the Synod of Ohio; ministered in Portage, Wis.; and served as minister and director of the Kettle Moraine Parish in Waukesha County, Wis. He served struggling, small country churches in Iowa and Ohio until his retirement in 1984, and was associate minister for the Gardner Presbyterian Church, Gardner, Kan., until moving back to the Mukwonago area in 1999. He was preceded in death by two wives, Esther Hoernemann McIntire and Marcella Dieterich McIntire; and a son, Frederick W. McIntire. Survivors include three sons, John C. McIntire, Unity, Maine, James L. McIntire, Seattle, Wash., and Bob McIntire, Eagle, Wis.; two daughters, Carol Rose Thunem, Fairabault, Minn., and Beth Kohls, Mukwonago; two sisters, Marguerite Hewett, Carrboro, N.C. and Barbara R. McIntire, Raleigh, N.C.; two half-sisters, Roma M. Verzaal and LaDonne Bland, both of Rocky Point, N.C.; and seven grandchildren. Mary McKaig
Mary Sue "Susie" (McIntire) McKaig, 69, of Olathe, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center. She was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Edgerton, the daughter of Mickey McIntire and Effie Gay McIntire. She was a lifelong Johnson County resident. She graduated from Gardner High School in 1948 and attended three years at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. She was a registered nurse. She trained for one year at the Gardner Hospital and worked 20 years at the Olathe Hospital. She married Eldon "Hoyt" McKaig on March 5, 1953, in Gardner. Her hobbies included making crafts for selling at local craft shows. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Olathe, and was a previous member at First Presbyterian Church, Gardner. She played one year of professional basketball for the Kansas City Hellcats. Survivors include her son, Bradley H. McKaig, Olathe; one daughter, Shelley Gaye McKaig, Gardner; two brothers, Daune McIntire, Liberal, Kan., and David McIntire, Greeley, Kan.; three sisters, Shirley Rains, Bonita, Calif., Evelyn Hess, Winterville, Ga., and Diana McIntire, Gardner; and six grandchildren. Glen McKelvey
Glen Dale McKelvey, 74, Olathe, died June 6, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center. He was born March 28, 1927, in Paragould, Ark., the son of Eugene and Lorene (Weatherly) McKelvey. He worked for Delco Battery, retiring after 32 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 153. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Carl McKelvey. Suzanne "Suzi" Harding McMahan, 46, Gardner, died at her home Friday, Jan. 7. She was born Feb. 16, 1953, in Kansas City, Kan. She moved to Gardner 19 years ago. She graduated from Washington High School, Kansas City, Kan., in 1971. She attained a B.S. in dental hygiene from the University of Missouri in Kansas City in 1988. She was previously married to Dr. Mark Whitaker. She then married John Law McMahan II Jan. 26, 1987, in Olathe. She worked for three years as a dental hygienist at Dr. Wilkerson's Dental Office, Gardner. Active in her community, McMahan served on the Gardner planning commission. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gardner. She was a member of the Altar Society, and she served as a Eucharistic minister. She is survived by her parents, Jack Warren Harding and Leanna Faye Harding, Kansas City, Kan.; one son and one daughter, Andrew and Debra Whitaker, both students at Kansas State University in Manhattan; five stepchildren, Robin Clark, Star, Idaho, Shelly McMahan, Merriam, Erin Camp, St. Louis, Mo., Christene Mitchell, Overland Park, and Greg McMahan, Sioux Falls, S.D.; three brothers, Mark Harding, Kennesaw, Ga., Matthew Harding, Olathe, and Andrew Harding, Shawnee; two sisters, Jacqueline Schlagel, Olathe, and Teresa Russell, Merriam; 16 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa. The family will receive friends at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, Monday, Jan. 10, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart Building Fund, Christian Foundation for Youth and Aging, Kansas City, Kan. or Odyssey Hospice, Kansas City, Mo. Lance McMurry
Lance V. McMurry, 38, Carrollton, Texas, died Oct. 3, 2000, in Carrollton. He was preceded in death by his father, Harlis McMurry. Survivors include two sons, Lance V. McMurry and Scott Matthew McMurry, both of Royce City, Texas; his mother, Phyllis R. McMurry, Olathe; a sister, Denise McMurry, Kansas City, and a brother, Kevin McMurry, Colorado Springs, Colo. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe. Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Olathe is in charge of arrangements.

Gary McNaul
Gary A. McNaul, 45, Olathe, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, in Wichita. He was born Dec. 4, 1954, in Hutchinson, and had lived in Olathe the past five years. He was a 1973 graduate of McPherson High School, where he was a member of the golf team, and later received a golf scholarship to Barton County Community College in Great Bend. He was a food broker/school specialist for Osage Marketing Inc. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Scott McNaul, in 1955. Survivors include his wife, Debbie McNaul, a son, Brandon Alan McNaul, and a stepdaughter, Heather Krause, all of the home; his mother, Phyllis L. McNaul, McPherson; a brother, Brent W. McNaul, Austin, Texas; and a sister, Janet L. Fournier, Lenexa. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 15315 W. 151st St., Olathe; the funeral will immediately follow at 4 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Joseph McSpadden
Joseph "Joe" H. McSpadden, 65, formerly of DeSoto, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Del Mar Gardens in Lenexa. He was born May 23, 1935, in Coffeyville, the son of John Harold McSpadden and Janice McSpadden (Walker). He was a graduate of Coffeyville High School. He moved to Kansas City, Mo., and then to Spring Hill, before moving to DeSoto in 1982. He was a general maintenance worker for J.C. Penney's Distribution Center in Lenexa for 17 years. He was a Baptist and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He married Frances Eilene Rethorst on Sept. 30, 1993, in DeSoto. He was preceded in death by a son, Floyd (Frank) McSpadden, in 1979. Survivors include his wife, Frances McSpadden, of the home in DeSoto; four sons, Don McSpadden and David McSpadden, both of Edgerton, Larry McSpadden, Spring Hill, and Miles McSpadden, Overland Park; a daughter, Jolynn Hobbs, Leawood; two stepsons, Joseph Goodman, Hanau, Germany, and Loyd Redus, Lawrence; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Redus, Herne, Texas; two brothers, James McSpadden, Grand Junction, Colo., and Michael McSpadden, Sausalito, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the DeSoto Baptist Church, DeSoto. Burial will be at the DeSoto Cemetery. Ester McTaggart
Ester May Eckman McTaggart, 87, Lawrence, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. She was born Dec. 5, 1912, in Vinland, Kan., the daughter of Youdon Eckman and Jennie Louise (Piper) Eckman. She married George A. McTaggart in May 1936 at the Douglas County Court House in Lawrence; he died Nov. 3, 1966. She had attended Baker University for two years after graduating high school, then completed a bachelor's degree in 1966, after her husband's death. She taught the first kindergarten class at Edgerton Elementary School in the early 1960s. She continued teaching second grade until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of Clearfield United Methodist Church, Clearfield, Kan. Survivors include two sons, Robert McTaggart, Edgerton, and Olaf McTaggart, Independence, Mo.; two daughters, Sherry Garrison, Paola, and Elizabeth Esterchild, Dallas, Texas; a brother, Albert Eckman, Baldwin, Kan.; a sister, Mabel Seele, Lawrence; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She will lie in state from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 19, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, Lawrence. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20, at Clearfield United Methodist Church, Clearfield. Burial will be at the Clearfield Cemetery. John McVey
John Roger McVey, 72, of Spring Hill, died Monday, March 26, 2001, at his home in Spring Hill. He was born August 24, 1928, in Russell, Iowa, the son of Cread Ivan McVey and Eva Mardel Palmer McVey. He had lived in Kansas City, Mo. before moving to Spring Hill in 1972. He worked for Safeway in Kansas City, Mo., for 43 years as the Produce and Frozen Foods Manager. He also worked for Food For Less in Olathe. He married Virginia A. Phipps McVey on July 3, 1952, in Knoxville, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 1997. He attended Ocheltree Baptist Church. He was a Sargent for the National Guard with the 168th Infantry, serving as a radio operator and cook before being discharged in 1954. He was also a member of the Masons in Kansas City, Mo., and a volunteer Fireman in Spring Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother, Forrest McVey. Survivors include one son, John "Andy" McVey, Wheatland, Wy.; two daughters, Susan Adam, Emporia, Kan.; and Holly Cox, Spring Hill.; two sisters, Dana Petty, Colona, Ill.; and Diane Harris, Des Moines, Iowa; and two grandchildren, Levi Cox and Jon Matthew Vopat. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2001, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo. He will lie in state Thursday, March 29, 2001, 1 to 4 p.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner.
