Alvin Molina
Alvin Molina, 1, son of Salvador and Maria Molina, Kansas City, Kan., died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He was born May 6, 1999, in Kansas City, Kan. Survivors also include two brothers, Christian and Brian Molina, both of the home; three sisters, Monzerrat Molina, and Sandra and Rosario Sanchez, both of the home; his grandparents, Adalberto and Inez Molina, and Ismaiel and Trinidad Tinajero, all of Mexico. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be noon Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens in Olathe.

Gregory Moll
Gregory E. Moll, 92, of Paola, (formerly of Olathe and Wellsville), died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center. He was born Oct. 3, 1908, in Olathe, son of Julius and Philamina Rogers Moll. He grew up in the Olathe area where he attended Olathe High School, graduating in 1926. He married Margaret E. Maurer on Aug. 29, 1929, in Shawnee. He farmed in the Olathe area and worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Olathe for more than 20 years before retiring in 1961. They continued living in the Olathe area until 1975, when they moved to Wellsville. They moved to Paola nine years later. Gregory attended the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Paola and was a member of the Fontana Dance Club. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Moll, on Sept. 16, 1992; a daughter, Marjorie Jacobson; a son, Gregory Moll, Jr.; a sister; three brothers; and a grandson, Gregory F. Moll. Survivors include a son, Charles F. Moll, Paola; five grandchildren, Sheryl Bishop, Belton, Mo., Janet Nease, Kansas City, Mo., Charles A. Moll, Overland Park, David Moll, Paola, and Rusty Moll, Olathe; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola, where the rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Paola; burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Olathe. Norman Montgomery
Norman Franklin Montgomery, 86, Clearview City, Kan., previously of Linwood, Kan., died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe. He was born Dec. 31, 1913, in Elva, Ill. He worked construction from 1948 to the mid-1960s; was a janitor at the Basehor School and a caretaker at the Tall Oaks Company, Bonner Springs; then was a school-bus driver in Linwood for a number of years. He was a charter member of the Linwood Lions Club, a Melvin F. Jones recipient in the Clearview City Lions Club, and held numerous offices in both, as well as district Lions Club posts. He was a member of the Linwood First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary C. Montgomery, in 1988. Survivors include his wife, Edna Montgomery, of the home; two sons, Melvin Leon Montgomery, Ridgecrest, Calif., and Richard Charles Montgomery, Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Norma Jean Reed, Tulsa, Okla., and Judith Ann Payne, Olathe; a brother, Harry Montgomery, Springfield, Mo.; and two sisters, Opal Rollins, Kansas City, Kan., and Esther Miller, Lawrence; 16 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home, Bonner Springs. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 19, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Christopher Moore
Christopher D. Moore, 38, Trinidad, Colo., died Thursday, March 16, 2000, in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was born April 8, 1961, in Badconstatt, Germany, the son of Robert Keith and Rosabe (Zamora) Moore. He was a graduate of Kansas State University, the University of Kansas and the KU Medical Center. He received his flight surgeon certification commission in Pensacola, Fla. He was a nuclear medical lab technician in La Junta, Colo. He also was in the U.S. Naval Reserves at Fort Carson, Colo. He was a member of the Catholic church. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Keith Moore. Survivors include his mother, Rosabe Moore, Junction City, Kan.; four brothers, Robert Keith Moore Jr., Toronto, Ohio, Charles Keith Moore, Rio Rancho, N.M., Ronald Eugene "Gene" Moore, Junction City, and John Joseph Moore, Olathe; and three sisters, Diana Lynn Shannon, Spain, Paulette Irene Moore, Lee's Summit, Mo., and RoseMary Brunken, Germany. The funeral is 2 p.m. today at St. Xavier Catholic Church, 218 N. Washington, Junction City.

Joan Moore
Joan R. Moore, 69, Overland Park, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park. She was born July 7, 1930, in Indianapolis, Ind., the daughter of Leonard J. Riggle and Alma C. (Callaway) Riggle. She moved to the Kansas City area in 1949 from Woodlawn, Ill. She was a graduate of Southwest High School, Kansas City, Mo., and attended the University of Indiana. She married Jack T. Moore Dec. 13, 1955, in Paola. She was housing coordinator for the city of Overland Park for 10 years, retiring in 1996. She had worked for 20 years as a Civil Service employee for the U.S. Air Force, as the mandays coordinator for the 442nd TAC at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, Mo. She attended the Village Presbyterian Church and was an active supporter of the Kansas City Symphony. Survivors include her husband, Jack, of the home; three sons, Thomas J. Moore, Overland Park, Michael R. Moore, Shawnee, and William J. Moore, Mission; and two grandchildren, Shawn and Tyler Moore, both of Shawnee. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Gerald Morgan
Gerald Lee Morgan, 65, Shawnee, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at his home. He was born April 3, 1934, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Charles "Ted" H. Morgan and Dorothy May Hutton Condron. He married Vickie Wiliker Myers. He was a lifelong Kansas City area resident and was a graduate of Turner High School. He worked for 10 years at Chemsyn Labs, Lenexa, where he was a facility supervisor. He also owned and operated Morgan Service Co., which specialized in heating and cooling, in Kansas City, Kan. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War in the early 1950s. He was in a clown unit with the Abdullah Shrine in Overland Park and was a 32nd-degree Mason in Wyandotte County. He was preceded in death by a son, David Brian Morris. Survivors include his wife, Vickie, of the home; a son, Christopher Lee Morgan, Sunnyvale, Calif.; a daughter, Heidi Lynn Rice, Alhambra, Calif.; a brother, Allan Blythe Morgan, Kansas; and two granddaughters. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan. Kenneth Morgan
Kenneth Boyd Morgan, 57, Olathe, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at his home following a battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 13, 1943, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and had lived in Olathe for the past two years after living in Pella, Iowa, for most of his life. He was employed by Vermeer Manufacturing Co. in Pella, Iowa, for the past 33 years in various managerial capacities, most recently as regional sales manager. He was a member and held several offices in the Masonic Lodge in Tracy, Iowa. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe. Survivors include his wife, Christine A. Morgan, of the home; two sons, Daniel Morgan, Oskaloosa, Iowa, and David Morgan, Grand Prairie, Texas; his mother, Wilma Mason, Russell, Iowa; a sister, Barbara Crozier, Knoxville, Iowa; four stepdaughters, Kelly Belk, Kansas City, Mo., Tracy Wiedt, Atlanta, and Erin Wiedt and Lauren Wiedt, both of the home; and two grandsons. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today and 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe. The rosary will said 6:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Cremation. The family suggests contributions to the habitat for Humanity and /or Hospice of Olathe Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pella, Iowa.

Leona Morgan
Leona M. Morgan, 78, Chanute, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at St. Francis Via Christi Regional Medical Center, Wichita. She was born June 16, 1922, in Chanute, the daughter of Charles and Marie Danielson Anderson. She grew up in Chanute, attended local schools and graduated from Chanute High School. She married Earl C. Morgan, Oct. 10, 1948, in Chanute. After attending Wichita Business College for a year, she was employed in Kansas City before returning to Chanute to work for Chronemeyer Tax Service until the owner's death. She and another employee, Dolores Rose, acquired the business and operated it as Morgan and Rose Tax Service. She was a homemaker and tax preparer for Morgan and Rose Tax Service, until she retired in 1979. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church; and a member and past president of the VFW Post 1654 Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Ackerson. Survivors include her husband, Earl C. Morgan, of the home; two sons, Bruce J. Morgan, Oakton, Va., and E. Dale Morgan, Olathe; a brother, Eric Anderson, Overland Park; a sister, Katherine Munger, Chanute; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at Gibson-Koch-Friskel Chapel, Chanute. The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Methodist Church, Chanute. Dr. Duke Morland
Dr. Duke Wellington Morland Jr., DVM, 78, of Spring Hill, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at his home. He was born July 27, 1922, in Tully, Kan., the son of Duke Wellington Morland and Lottie Mable Sears Morland. He moved to Spring Hill in 1960. He also had lived in Springfield, Ill. then moved to Hillsdale for one year, before moving to Spring Hill. He was a graduate of Atwood High School, Atwood, Kan. and Kansas State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. He married Esther Mae Williamson Morland. He was a veterinarian with the Morland Animal Hospital in Spring Hill from 1951 to the late 1970s. He owned and operated Morland Animal Hospital in Gardner from the late 1970s until his retirement in 1983. He served in the U.S. Navy/Coast Guard during World War II. He was also a member of the American Legion in Spring Hill; Post Cole-Smith; Spring Hill Masonic Lodge. He also served on the Spring Hill Board of Education and was a member of the Olathe Trail Riders Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife in 1983. Survivors include his daughter, Kerry Dee Gast and husband, Joseph "Skip" Gast, Spring Hill; one brother, Marshall Morland, Lancaster, Kan.; two sisters, Anna Fleckenstein, Nacodoches, Texas and Lila Rae Justice, Spring Hill; and one granddaughter. Cremation. The family will hold a private family inurnment at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood, Kan. Harold Morris
Harold E. Morris, 73, Dodge City, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at the Alterra Sterling House in Dodge City. He was born March 26, 1927, in Ocheltree, the son of Ralph Emery Morris and Callie Irene (Letcher) Morris Hackett. He grew up in Paola and the Miami County area. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific. He was a truck driver and had a milk route for Highland Dairy in Kansas City, Kan., for many years. He moved to Dodge City 25 years ago, to be near his daughter. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Dodge City, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Post 13 of Dodge City. He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Paul Hackett. Survivors include two sons, Ralph E. Morris and Ronald R. Morris, both of Overland Park; two daughters, Lynn Harris, Dodge City, and Sue Ellis, Independence, Mo.; five sisters, Barbara Knop, Louisburg, Mabel Hiatt, Hillsdale, Doris Cannon, Florida, Cathy Weeks, Forsythe, Mo., and Irene Fuqua, Rich Hill, Mo.; a half-brother, Jimmie Hackett, Rich Hill; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. The military graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Gardner Cemetery. Jack Morse
Jack A. Morse, 51, Olathe, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000, at his home. He was born Aug. 26, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Robert Earl and Barbara (Pietch) Morse. He married Stephanie Anne Ellis on Dec. 1, 1973. He served in the military for 21 years: three years in the U.S. Army and 18 years in the U.S. Navy. He retired in February 1987, when he moved his family to Olathe. He went to work for the city of Olathe in 1987, where he still worked at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jay A. Morse. Survivors include his wife, Stephanie, of the home; two daughters, Draya Woolf, Kansas City, Kan., and Victoria R. Morse, Olathe; three brothers, Jerry Morse and James Morse, both of Springfield, Mo., and Jody Morse, Tacoma, Wash.; his stepmother, Ida M. Morse; three stepbrothers, John, Ron and Lonnie; five stepsisters, Henrietta, Rosetta, Maudine, Loretta and Gracie; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral, with a full military service, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery. LuVonne Morse
LuVonne Rae Morse, 72, Olathe, died Friday, June 30, 2000, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo., after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 3, 1928, in Rapid City, S.D., and was a graduate of Rapid City High School. She also was a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe. She was a member of the Eastern Kansas Right to Life. Survivors include her husband, Edwin L. Morse, of the home; five sons, Edwin L. Morse Jr., Yukon, Okla., Frank L. Morse, Gardner, David K. Morse, Overland Park, and Mack L. Morse and Scott G. Morse, both of Olathe; four sisters, Caryn M. Brown and Joy L. Palmer, both of Olathe, Ruth L. Burkhart, Las Cruces, N.M., and Kristy L. Cayot, Gardner; and 22 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Gardner Church of the Nazarene, Gardner. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Leland Mount
Leland Lavelle Mount, 79, Stanley, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born Oct. 12, 1920, in Braymer, Mo., the son of Benjamine and Florence (Stewart) Mount. He had lived in Stanley for the past 40 years. He was employed at Simmons Gun Specialties in Olathe for 35 years, retiring in 1984. He was a past master of the Stanley Masonic Lodge; and a member of the American Legion Post No. 153 and the Abdallah Shrines of Kansas. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lavelle Mount, in 1988. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lintner Mount, of the home; and his twin sister, Lauranelle Osberg, Waterloo, Iowa. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Olathe.

Calvin Mummert
Calvin Waldo Mummert, 80, of Olathe, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born Jan. 4, 1920, in Topeka, the son of James Mummert and Lucy Pearl (Baker) Mummert. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1938. He attended Officers Training School in the Army Air Corp. He was stationed in the United States during World War II in the Army Air Corp. as a flight instructor. He also served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a master journeyman electrician with IBEW No. 226, Topeka. He work for the union for 49 years before retiring on Feb. 4, 1982. He was also a flight instructor at Hall Airlines, Olathe. He was a member of the Community Bible Church, Olathe; the Antique Restoration Club; Chapter 200; and Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), Overland Park. He was preceded in death by a wife, Thelma Keeney Mummert, in 1958. He then married Patricia Martin Mummert on Jan. 30, 1960, in Olathe. He also was preceded in death by a stepson, Capt. Ralph O. Bray Jr.; a brother, Carrel B. Mummert; and a sister, Lyndall Mummert. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Kay and husband, Vernon Pauls, Gardner; one brother, Lauren Hugh Mummert, Topeka; one sister, Glenda E. O'Quilluk, Wichita; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The visitation will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, before the service at the Community Bible Church, Olathe, 1304 N. Parker St. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Inurnment will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe. James Murphy
GARNETT, Kan.-James ("Jim") Murphy, 34, Garnett, died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000. He was born June 24, 1966, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of James L. and Carrie A. (Quint) Murphy. He had lived in Garnett for the past year, having moved from Olathe, where he had lived most of his life. He attended the Trinity Fellowship Church, Olathe. He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Murphy. Survivors include his wife, Shelley, of the home; a son, James P. Murphy, of the home; two daughters, Jese and Kylie Murphy, both of the home; his mother, Carrie A. Murphy, Olathe; and two sisters, Pam Parker, Gallatin, Mo., and Teresa Wilkes, Olathe. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the W.L. Frye & Son Mortuary, Olathe. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery in Olathe.

Leon Murphy
Leon B. Murphy, 53, Olathe, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000. He was born June 21, 1946, in Cairo, Ill., the son of Walter and Lois (Allen) Murphy, but was reared in Overland Park by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen. After graduation from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1966, he served five years in the U.S. Army, including two tours in Vietnam. He pursued a lifelong interest in auto mechanics. He married Judy Kay Shaffer and the couple lived in Overland Park; they later divorced. He then married Juanita Stoneking. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Juanita. Survivors include two sons, Christopher James Murphy and Jeffery Stoneking; two daughters, Mimi Kay Murphy and Angel Martha Shaffer; two brothers, David Murphy and Chris Burton; a sister, Rosalie Tuttle; and a niece and a nephew. Visitation will be at from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at W.L. Frye and Son Funeral Home in Olathe. The memorial service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Asa Murren
Asa Duane "Ace" Murren, 65, Topeka, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000. He was born August 26, 1934, in Delia, Kan., the son of Asa Alfred and Hazel Iva Wilson Murren. He graduated from Berryton High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 2, 1957, to Dec. 23, 1958, and was stationed in Berlin, Germany. He worked at Topeka's Goodyear Tire and Rubber Plant for 42 years, retiring June 1, 1996. He married Ida "Louise" Bleidissel on Feb. 8, 1959, in Topeka; she preceded him in death on Jan. 16, 1993. He attended Grace United Methodist Church of Topeka. He was a member of Golden Rule Lodge No. 90, A.F. and A.M.; Topeka Scottish Rite Bodies; Arab Shrine Temple; Trinity Shrine, Seventh Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; Topeka Chapter No. 462, Order of the Eastern Star; Moose Lodge No. 555; Goodyear Post No. 2187, Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Topeka Association for Retarded Citizens. He was an adult leader of the International Order of Job's Daughters, and was a past associate Grand Guardian of Kansas and a past associate Guardian of Bethel No. 58 of Topeka. He had been active at various levels in the Boy Scouts of America, Jayhawk Council. He was currently president of Arab Temple's DeMolay Knights Unit. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, David D. Murren; a brother, Clyde L. Murren; and a sister, Dorene J. Hadl. Survivors include a son, Mark Alan Murren, Topeka, a daughter, Bev Lawson, Tecumseh, Kan.; a sister, Doloris Irene Gardner, Midwest City, Okla.; a brother, Leroy Vern Murren, Overbrook; four grandchildren; and a companion, Susan Segelquist, Topeka. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at the mortuary, followed by Rose Croix Services by the Topeka Chapter, Knights Rose Croix of the Scottish Rite Bodies, and a tribute by the International Order of Job's Daughters.
