Michael Todd
Michael Ray Todd, 50, Clearview City, Kan., died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at his home. He was born Sept. 18, 1949, in Henderson, Ky., the son of Bernice and Iva Todd. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Clifton, James and Donald Todd. Survivors include a brother, Butch Todd, DeSoto; and four sisters, Linda Young, DeSoto, Bea Hailey, Wellsville, Phillis Aranda, Chicago, Ill., and Patsy Swartzer, Streater, Ill. Robert Toth
Robert Toth, 75, Olathe, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Olathe. He was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of John and Anna (Szolosi) Toth. He lived in Olathe the past two years, coming from Dayton. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Olathe. He was the service manager for 20 years for the Friden Company, and he was the Water Treatment Supervisor for the Dublin San Ramon Services District for 14 years until he retired. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen (Beisel) Toth, in 1988. Survivors include two sons, Michael A. Toth, Olathe, and Matthew A. Toth, Truckee, Calif.; a sister, Helen Sipos, Englewood, Ohio; and two grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Olathe. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at W.L. Frye and Son Mortuary and Crematory, Olathe. Angie Totoro
Angie G. Totoro, 78, Mission, died Thursday, April 27, 2000, at her home. She was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Bridgeport, Conn., and had lived in Plantation, Fla., and Trumbull, Conn., before moving to Mission two years ago. She was a retired administrative secretary for the Trumbull School Board of Education in Trumbull, Conn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert M. Totoro, in 1999; and five brothers, Joseph, George, Ernest, Albert and Fred Gatto. Survivors include a son, Geoffrey Totoro, Olathe; and three grandchildren, Megan, Brian and Mandy Totoro. Private memorial service. Cremation. Arrangements are by Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe.

Elmer Totsch
Elmer H. Totsch, 82, of Olathe, died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at his home. Elmer was born Dec. 9, 1918, in Wausau, Wis., living in Olathe the past 48 years. He was a graduate of Wausau High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the 270th field artillery. He was a railway mail clerk before transferring to the Olathe Post Office where he retired. Following his retirement, he graduated from Johnson County Community College in 1984. He was famous for being known as Santa to many children in the local community. He was active in the Olathe Community Theater. He served on the board of the Department of Aging in Johnson County. and he was active with the Olathe Intergenerational Choir. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther M. Totsch in 1997; a brother, Harold Totsch; and a sister Bernice Hoffman. He leaves a son, David C. Totsch of Auburn, N. H.; a daughter, Janice L. Tow, Olathe; two sisters, Loretta Otto of Wausau, Wis., and Joyce Rauschl of Sutherland, Ore.; and four grandchildren, Scott Tow, Kara Wescott, Eric Tow and Heather Totsch. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. tomorrow at First Baptist Church, 2024 E. 151st Street in Olathe where the family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until service time. Burial will be private. James Trabert
James Patrick Trabert, 54, died Dec. 29, 1999. He was born April 11, 1945. He graduated from Olathe High School in 1963. He graduated from Johnson County Community College with a degree as an electronics tech, and graduated from Finley Engineering College with a degree in electronic engineering. He had served as a U.S. Marine Corps sergeant. He was an amateur radio operator extra class, and an FCC-licensed technician first class. He was injured in an auto accident in 1969 and was handicapped. He is survived by his father, Orin C. Trabert, Tuscon, Ariz.; a grandfather, Harold Jacobson, Newton; two sisters, Mary Kathryn Poland, Atlanta, and JoAnne Ashton, Maryland; two brothers, Michael Lee Trabert, Chicago, and Tim Trabert, Kansas City, Kan.; two nieces; and five nephews. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at College Church of the Nazarene, Olathe.

Carl Trakel
Carl George Trakel, 76, Gardner, died May 26, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center. He was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Waukesha, Wis., the son of Delbert and Frances (Kremer) Trakel. He graduated from Waukesha High School. He moved to Gardner in August, 2000 to live with his daughter. Before moving he had lived in Kingman, Ariz., Las Vegas, and Lake Havasu City, Ariz. He was self-employed for Brick Mason and Construction. He worked there for 40 years before retiring in 1982. He also worked on the London Bridge reconstruction at Lake Havasu City. He was a member of the St. Luke's and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Waukesha, Wis. He was in the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in the European Middle Eastern Theater, where he earned two bronze stars. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Doris Pike and Marian Lange. He is survived by a daughter, Betty Jean Frasher, Gardner; a son, James Paul Trakel, Cullman, Ala.; a step-son, James "Jack" Kobasziar, Great Falls, Mont.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Laura Travis
Laura Michelle Travis, 12, Olathe, died Saturday, April 22, 2000, at Manhattan, Kan. She was born Dec. 30, 1987, in Manhattan, the daughter of Kurt Travis and Gay F. Kahler. She had been an Olathe area resident most of her life. She was a sixth-grade student at Havencroft Elementary School. She was a member of the school choir, the Junior Falcons Choir, and was a Girl Scout. Survivors include her father, Kurt Travis, Colorado; her mother, Gay F. Kahler, of the home; her stepfather, Brian E. Janes, of the home; three brothers, Steven Janes, Harry Travis and Ben Janes, all of the home; a sister, Nicole Travis, Colorado; four grandparents, Fran Kahler, Manhattan, Harry and Dixie Travis, San Antonio, Texas, Judy Janes, Kansas City, Mo., and Donald Janes, Garnett; and a great-grandmother, Frances Koppers, Olathe. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at W.L. Frye and Son Mortuary, Olathe The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Daniel Treas
Daniel Ray Treas, 34, Topeka, died Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000, at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1966, in Lawrence, Kan., the son of John Edward Treas and Sharon (Rousselo) Treas. He had lived in Gardner, Olathe and Lawrence. He was a 1985 graduate of Gardner-Edgerton High School. He was a former press operator for the Johnson County Printing Department, Olathe. He also had worked as a press operator at Dot Manufacturing in Gardner. He also attended JC-TEC and was active in the VICA Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Treas and his father in 1967. Survivors include his mother, Sharon Treas Alsdurf, Talala, Okla.; a brother, Robert Brooks, Mayetta, Kan.; two sisters, Shantel Alsdurf and Danyell Alsdurf, both of Talala; and three grandparents, Ruel and Margie Rousselo, and Dortha Treas, all of Gardner. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Olathe. Francis Treff
Francis L. Treff, 103, formerly of Olathe, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Manor Care, Fort Worth, Texas. He was born April 21, 1898, in Glenwood, Kan., the son of Louis and Ida (Burch) Treff. He lived in Olathe since 1945, moving to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1987. He worked for Hodges Brothers Lumber Company in Olathe for 25 years until 1953. In 1953, he worked as secretary-treasurer of K.C. Dealer's Supply Wholesaler's firm until his retirement in 1963. He then sold real estate with Grant Realtors. He was a member of the Olathe American Legion Post No. 153, he was director of the Southwestern Lumberman's Association and he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara, in 1985; a son, Gerald Treff, in 1977; a grandson, Randolph G. Treff; and two nephews. Survivors include three grandchildren, Deborah Houchin, Arlington, Texas, Cary Steffen Treff and wife Marsha, Mission Viejo, Calif., Marlene Denise Wallen and husband Joe, Arlington, Wash.; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at W.L. Frye and Son Mortuary and Crematory, Olathe. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday at Glenwood Cemetery, Basehor, Kan.

Deann Trigg
Deann Elaine Trigg, 52, of Kansas City, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 23, 2001, at the St. Joseph Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. She was born Oct. 1, 1948, in Lawrence, the daughter of Charles Edward Blann and Donnie Bea Young Blann. She had lived in Spring Hill and Lenexa. She moved to Kansas City, Mo., six years ago. She was a 1966 graduate of Shawnee Mission West High School. She worked for Southwestern Bell in Kansas City, Mo., as an accounts representative collection service. She also worked for the General Electric Card Service for 19 years in Merriam. She was a member of the New Life Community Church, Olathe. She was active in charity organizations, working with "Crosslines." Her hobbies include writing and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Renee Roberts. Survivors include one son, Charles Edward Trigg and wife, Elizabeth, Leavenworth; one daughter, Christine H. Hathaway and husband, Charles, Olathe; four brothers, Steve Blann, Stanley; Robert Blann, Spring Hill; Wesley Blann, Kansas City, Mo.; and Bryan Blann, Paola; one sister, Alisa Blann, Paola; and two grandsons. The visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday Feb. 25, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Eudora Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the K-State Cancer Research Fund.

Virginia Trout
Virginia "Ginnie" Trout, 82, Olathe, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center in Olathe. She was born in Hartville, Mo., the daughter of King Henry and Anna (Harris) Davis, and grew up in southeast Missouri. She had lived in Olathe more than 50 years, after coming from Hartville. She was the head cook at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center for 26 years. She was a licensed missionary and mother of the St. Luke's Church of God in Christ, Olathe. She was a member of the Pastor's Aid Board and the Walking Horse Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Judge U. Trout; a son, Charlie King Trout; a brother, King Davis; two sisters, Bessie Matthews and Bertha Kincannon; and a granddaughter, Quentella Neal. Survivors include two sons, William "Bill" Judge Trout, Paola, and Darwin Neal Jr., Olathe; two daughters, Julia Thompkins and Shirley Thompkins, both of Olathe; a sister, Sarah J. Leslie, Springfield, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 Monday at the St. Luke's Church of God in Christ, Olathe. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow at the Olathe Memorial Cemetery, Olathe. Arrangements are by W.L. Frye and Son Mortuary and Crematory, Olathe.

Mitchell Trulson
Mitchell A. Trulson, 51, Olathe, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. He was born Sept. 14, 1948, in Mason City, Iowa, to Russell William and Mae Gouge Trulson. He grew up and attended school in Britt, Iowa. He graduated from Britt High School in 1966. He married Mary Dolphin Dec. 30, 1966, at the United Methodist Church in Britt. He was employed at Winnebago Industries from 1967 until 1972. The couple made their home in Britt and later moved to Mason City. In 1972, he and his wife established Mary's Vac Shop, doing business with the Kirby Company. While living in Iowa, he was active as a lay minister. The couple retired in March 1990 to Olathe. He was a member of College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of the home; two daughters, Suzanne Carlin, Dallas, and Pamela Tull, Olathe; three brothers, Russ Trulson and Tom Trulson, both of Britt, and Don Trulson, Elbow Lake, Minn.; a sister, Yolanda Redenius, Britt; and three grandchildren. The funeral was Jan. 18 at Britt Zion Church of the Nazarene, Britt. Arrangements were by the Ewing Funeral Home, Britt, Iowa.

Ruby Tudor
Ruby Leann Tudor, the infant daughter of Niki Lang and William C "Bill" Tudor, Topeka, was stillborn on Sept. 1, 2000, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. Survivors include the parents; a brother, Austin William Tudor and a sister, Emily Linn Tudor, both of the home; her grandparents, Casey Starbuck, Kansas City, Kan., Gloria Buhler, Topeka, and Bud Lang, Oklahoma; a stepgrandfather, Ron Starbuck, Kansas City, Kan.; and great-grandparents, Darrell and June Christenson, Topeka, Ruby Frear, Monett, Mo., Opal and Maurice Lang, Topeka. A cremation is planned. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at Highland Park United Methodist Church, Topeka. Newcomer Family Funeral Home, Topeka, is in change of arrangements.

Nellie Tunison
Nellie Frances Tunison, 79, Gardner, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at the Olathe Medical Center. She was born Oct. 2, 1920, in Spring Hill, to Louis Earl Dunn and Gladys O. Allen Dunn. She graduated from Gardner High School in 1937 and attended a semester of college; she taught in a one-room schoolhouse. She married Arthur N. Tunison on May 16, 1944. She was co-owner and office manager with her husband, Art, of Tunison Garage in Gardner until her retirement in 1984, after 43 years of service. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Gardner, where she was a Sunday school and Bible school teacher. She also was a member of the PT Mariners; Presbyterian Women's Church Circle; Pomona Grange; Gardner Grange No. 68; 7th Degree Club; Docey Dandies Square Dancers; co-chairperson for the 1976 Bicentennial Committee; and was active in the Gardner Chamber of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her husband Art in 1994. Survivors include three sons, William A. Tunison and Robert N. Tunison, both of Olathe, and Joseph C. Tunison, Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to First Presbyterian Church of Gardner.

William Turner
PAOLA - William J. Turner, 77, Osawatomie, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001, at Miami County Hospital in Paola. He was born May 1, 1923, in Cummings, Kan. He lived in Wellsville, Gardner for 10 years and Paola for 14 years. He was a power plant operator at the University of Kansas Medical Center for 22 years. He retired in 1991. He also served in the U.S. Army. His hobbies included fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Charles Turner and Unice Lein Turner; two brothers, Terrance and Robert Turner; and a stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Floyd Sellers. Survivors include a son, Ronald William Turner, Peculiar, Mo.; a daughter, Linda Sue Ross, Edgerton; four brothers, Ted Turner, Kansas City, Don Turner, Lawrence, Richard Turner, Wellsville, and Jim Turner, Kansas City; three sisters, Betty Moon, Sacramento, Calif., Nancy Harris, Las Vegas, and Susie Stamps, Springdale, Ark; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He will be in state from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at the Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. The funeral will be 4 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the funeral home. Inurnment at a later date at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Memorials may be sent to the William J. Turner Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.

Neva Uhner
Neva Ross Uhner, 84, Gardner, died May 16, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center. She was born Aug. 25, 1916, in Stilwell, Okla., the daughter of William "Mack" and Modena Ross. She attended school in Stilwell and graduated in 1934. She graduated from Draughns Business School in Muskogee, Okla. She married Alvin Uhner on May 9, 1937, in Fort Gibson, Okla. She had worked for Schuler Produce in Muskogee, where they had lived for 19 years and were members of Bethany Presbyterian Church. They moved to Gardner in 1966, where she worked as a bookkeeper at Gardner Memorial Hospital until retirement. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Edgerton. She was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Marissa June and Johnna Rose, and her parents. Survivors include her husband, Alvin Uhner of the home; a son, Bill Uhner and his wife, Lyndia, Valley Falls, Kan.; five grandchildren, Robin Boyette and Shaun Uhner, Valley Falls, Kan., Denalyn McMillin, Perry, Kan., Mary Hunt, Meriden, Kan., and Victor Uhner, Great Bend, Kan.; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 143rd and Black Bob Road, Olathe. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Fort Gibson National Cemetery, Fort Gibson, Okla.

Jeff Uphaus
Jeff Uphaus, 33, Overland Park, died suddenly Saturday, April 22, 2000, while playing basketball in Wichita. He was born Oct. 30, 1966, in San Antonio, Texas, and lived in Austin, Texas, before moving to Olathe in 1986; his home had been in Johnson County since then. He was a 1985 graduate of Reagan High School, Austin, Texas. During 1985-86, he attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. He then transferred to Mid-America Nazarene University, and graduated in 1989 as an Academic All-American, with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He received a master's degree in business administration from the University of Kansas in 1991. He was a senior manager in the Management Services & Solutions Group for Deloitte & Touche. He was a member of College Church of the Nazarene, Olathe. He is survived by his wife, Dalene Noel Uphaus, of the home; two sons, Grant Patrick Uphaus and Cole Jackson Uphaus, both of the home; his parents, John and Anita Uphaus, Georgetown, Texas; a grandmother, Mattie Uphaus, Spring Hill; and a sister, Julianne Bell, Olathe. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Olathe. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, at College Church of the Nazarene, Olathe.
