Jackson Wade
Jackson Robert Wade, 16-week-old son of Jeffrey R. and Kathleen A. Wade of Olathe, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at the Michigan Congenital Heart Center at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, Ann Arbor, Mich. He was born March 21, 2000, in Ann Arbor. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Floyd H. Fliger, in 1975, and his paternal grandfather, Robert C. Wade, in 1993. Survivors include his parents and sisters, Julia Leigh and Elizabeth Ann, all of the home; paternal grandmother, Joan P. Wade, Kansas City, Kan.; and maternal grandmother Mary J. Fliger, Sunrise Beach, Mo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, at Overland Park Christian Church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Amos Family Chapel of Lenexa. James Waggoner
James R. Waggoner, 67, Hutchinson, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center in Hutchinson. He was born Feb. 18, 1933, in Hutchinson, the son of Richard Raymond and Bertha May Mitchell Waggoner. He also lived eight years in Salt Lake City and 20 years in Olathe. He was a truck driver with Jack Cooper Transport for 22 years. He was a member of the Retired Teamsters Club of Kansas City and a life member of V.F.W. Post 2993 and American Legion Post 153, both of Olathe. He served in the Korean War as an Army sergeant. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tresia Smith. Survivors include a brother, Alan Waggoner, Hutchinson; and two sisters, Ginger Osgood and Diana Waggoner, both of Hutchinson. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Elliott Mortuary Chapel, and burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Special military graveside honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. The family requests contributions to the Keith Worthington Chapter of the ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Association, Dillon Nature Center and the Good Samaritan Center.

Mildred Walker
Mildred Maxine Gallimore Walker, 86, Louisburg, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, at the Louisburg Care Center. She was born May 31, 1913, in Greensboro, N.C., the daughter of Frank and Ella Gallimore. She married James V. Walker on Oct. 6, 1934. They lived in North Carolina, New Jersey, Maryland, California, and Oklahoma. She moved to Miami County, Kan., in 1997. She attended the United Methodist Church in Fontana, Kan., and supported the United Methodist Woman's Organization. She was a homemaker, but had worked for Catholic Charities while living in New Jersey. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1988; a sister; and three brothers. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca McGuigan, Payson, Ariz., and Lois Stevenson Dees, Drexel, Mo.; a son, David Walker, Irvine, Calif.; four sisters, Sarah Moran, Pittsboro, N.C., and Alice Summers, Edith Lewey and Billie Baynes, all of Greensboro, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at the United Methodist Church, Fontana. Burial will be at the Laverne Cemetery, Laverne, Okla. Gary M. Wallace, 53, Olathe, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at his home. He was born June 5, 1947, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Frederick and Grace (Marvine) Wallace. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Wallace, of the home; two daughters, Keri Baty, Olathe, and Shannon Hunsaker, Gardner; two brothers, Ronald Snapp, Overland Park, and Joe Wallace, Drexel, Mo.; three sisters, Joyce Logan, Holden, Mo., Linda Odom, Overland Park, and Kimberly Hocker, Drexel, Mo.; a step-mother, Ellen Hartman, Louisburg; and two grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday at the Spring Hill Baptist Church, Spring Hill. Bonnie Walters
Bonnie Lee Walters, 69, Olathe, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Villa St. Francis Nursing Center, Olathe. She was born Sept. 30, 1930, in Parsons, and had lived in Olathe since 1967. She was a return authorization specialist for Spring North Supply, Gardener, retiring in 1993 after 18 1/2 years. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Olathe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Walters, in 1997; a daughter, Karen Walters, in 1963; and two sisters, Lorene Sinclair in 1982 and Loretta Mainard in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Patricia L. Gray, Olathe; and a brother, Merritt "Jack" Walker, Fort Worth, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 143rd Street and Black Bob Road, Olathe. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the funeral home. James Walters
James "Nicholas" Walters, 20, Olathe, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born May 11, 1980, in Olathe, the son of James Edward Walters and Barbara Elizabeth Healy Walters of Olathe. He was a lifelong area resident. He lived with his family in Jefferson City, Mo., for five years, and then they moved back to Olathe. He attended school at the Developmental Learning Center, now the Heartland Learning Center in Olathe. He was a senior at Olathe East and would have graduated Tuesday. His hobbies included swimming and traveling. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Servant in Overland Park. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Ethel Mae Healy. He is survived by his parents, James and Barbara Walters, Olathe; a sister, Kristen Lea Walters, Olathe; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Joyce Walters, Warsaw, Mo.; and his maternal grandfather, Carol Healy, Spring Hill. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Grace United Methodist Church, 11485 Ridgeview Road, Olathe. Kimberly C. Walton, 41, of Olathe, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Overland Park Regional Hospital. She was born June 15, 1959, in Lawrence. She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald W. Walton, in 1994. Survivors include her father, John Walton, Topeka; mother, Judy Banister; grandparents, John and Alletta Walton, and Orval and Ruth Banister; one brother, Neil A. Kossenjan, Silverthorne, Colo.; and two sisters, Debora K. Horn, Olathe, and Jennifer A. Young, Peabody, Kan. A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. today at W.L. Steve Terry Walton, 42, Independence, Mo., died Thursday, July 13, 2000, at Overland Park Medical Center. He was employed as a cabinetmaker with Stanley Wood Products. Survivors include his wife, Gail L. Walton, of the home; two sons, Adam and Grant Walton, both of the home; a stepdaughter, NiCole Maring, of the home; his mother, Marjorie Walton, Lenexa; a brother, Scott Walton, Lenexa; and a sister, Stacy Gibson, Lenexa. Yolanda Walton
Yolanda Ruth (Cunningham) Walton, 57, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at the Carondelet Manor Care Center, Kansas City, Mo. She was born Feb. 27, 1943, in Gardner, to Robert Clayton Cunningham and Mary Esther (Johnston) Cunningham. She grew up in Gardner, was a 1961 graduate of Gardner High School, and attended business college in the Kansas City area. She moved to Olathe and later to Leavenworth. She was a secretary for the Heatron Co. (heating and cooling) in Leavenworth for 19 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gardner. Survivors include a daughter, Megan Cameron, Shawnee; her mother, Mary Cunningham, Gardner; two brothers, Alan Cunningham, Olathe, and Brent Cunningham, Gardner; six sisters, Sondra Losh and Claudia Cunningham, both of Olathe, Marcia Miller and Vanessa Marriott, both of Gardner, Rhonda Hendrix, Overland Park, and Denise Bubeck, Wellsville; and one granddaughter. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 4, at the First Baptist Church, Gardner. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4, at the church. Private family burial. Wayne Ward
Wayne A. Ward, 66, Olathe, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at his home, after a battle with cancer. He was born March 12, 1934, in New Hampton, Iowa, to Gerald and Lily (Olson) Ward. He was a 1952 graduate of New Hampton High School. He and his twin brother Wes joined the U.S. Navy in October 1952, and he served four years during the Korean War as a radioman, and was honorably discharged in October 1956. He attended Marshalltown Telegraph School, Marshalltown, Iowa, and then worked for the former Northern Pacific Railroad in various positions for 36 years, from 1957 to his retirement in August 1993. He married Alice M. Tiemessen on Aug. 23, 1958, in North Washington, Iowa. He was a member of the Transportation Communications International Union, and a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Olathe. He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Jerry Ward; and a nephew, Andrew W. Ward. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Alice Ward, of the home; two sons, Matthew Ward, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Martin Ward, Golden Valley, Minn.; two brothers, his twin Wesley Ward and Donald Ward, both of Waterloo, Iowa; a sister, Betty Parker, Lakeland, Fla.; a grandson; and numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Olathe. The Celebration of Life mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. At his request, his remains will be donated to the Willed Body Program at the University of Kansas Medical School. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Edgar Warner
Edgar Ray Warner, 61, Garnett, Kan., died Friday, March 16, 2001, in Garnett. He was born June 23, 1939, in Kansas City, Kan. He graduated from Ottawa High School. He lived in Ottawa, Kan. , for most of his life, moving to Garnett 16 years ago. He worked as a mechanic. He married Joyce Sailing in April of 1962. They later divorced. He later married Nina JoAnn Kratzberg in Oklahoma City, Okla. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Warner, who died June 11, 1998, and his father, Edgar Warner. Survivors include two sons, Joel Warner of Olathe, and Bill Warner; a daughter, Sheri Lucas of Millstone, Ky.; his mother, Wilma Warner of Ottawa, Kan.; a brother, Dean Warner of Lawrence; a sister, Donna Young, of Summerville, Ga.; three grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren. He will lie in state after 9 a.m. today at the Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel in Garnett. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, at the chapel. Interment will be at Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Kan.

Kathy Warner
Kathy D. Warner, 56, Olathe, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at her home. She was a member of Olathe Christian Church, and attended the women's Bible Study Fellowship Group at Mid-America Nazarene University. Survivors include her husband, John C. Warner; a daughter, Lorie Kohlschmidt, and a son, Heath Weiss, both of Colorado; and five grandchildren. The memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at the Olathe Christian Church, Olathe. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, Holyoke, Colo. Brent Warren
Brent H. Warren, 46, Olathe, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Olathe Medical Center. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. today at Olathe Bible Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Bible Church Building Fund, Stilwell, Kan. He was born March 14, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo. He was an engineer and train master at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He was an Operation Lifesaver Presenter, for the railroad. He was a member and deacon at Grace Bible Church. He is survived by his wife, Susie, of the home; and five children: daughter, Mindi Heizer and husband, Ken of Gardner; daughters Cheri and Krisi of the home; sons, Joey and Andy of the home; two grandchildren; father and mother, Gregory and Jeanne Warren, Overland Park; and a brother, Craig Warren, Overland Park.

Lester Warsop
Lester Lee Warsop, 88, of DeSoto, died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Eudora Nursing Home. He was born Nov. 8, 1912, in Eudora, the son of Wilford Warsop and Ida Paxton Warsop. He moved to DeSoto in 1918, at the age of 6. He was a lifelong area resident. He married Mary Eunice Curtiss on Dec. 28, 1937, in Olathe. He owned and operated DeSoto Motors from 1946 until his retirement in 1967. He was also a farmer. After his retirement, he worked for Gulf Oil at the Eudora Explosive Plant. He was a member of DeSoto Masonic Lodge; a former charter member of the DeSoto Rotary; served as Lexington Township trustee; and he served on the DeSoto Cemetery Board. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruby Pogue and Pearl Ashlock; one stepson, Bill Bowers; two grandsons; and three stepgrandsons. He is survived by one son, Ronald Lee and wife, Joyce Acton, Kansas City, Kan.; one daughter, Martha Rae and husband, Jim Carpenter, Lawrence; three stepsons, Glenn and wife, Dorla Bowers, Topeka; Roy "Jack" Bowers, Eudora; and Monte and wife, Becky Bowers, DeSoto; one stepdaughter, Mary and husband, Ray Dunkin, San Marcos, Texas; three sisters, Opal Ostertag, Forsythe, Mo.; Garnet Moll, Gardner; and Margaret Dierolf, Olathe; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He will lie in state from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. The visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, prior to the service at DeSoto Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the church. Burial will be at DeSoto Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to the DeSoto Museum or the charity of the donor's choice.

Ruth Warsop
Ruth E. Warsop, 90, of Spring Hill, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at the Beverly Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Spring Hill. She was born Sept. 21, 1910, in Ashland, Mo., to Church and Virgie Zumwalt. While growing up, Ruth attended rural grade school in Ashland. She married Lorene Lee Myers in 1927 in Ashland, Mo. She began work at North American Aviation in Kansas City in 1942. Following the war, Ruth worked at H.D. Lee Company, where she retired in 1975. She married Earl Warsop July 7, 1951. They made their home in Spring Hill for nearly 30 years, until Earl died in July 1999. Ruth was a lifelong member of Ocheltree Baptist Church in Spring Hill. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens group of Spring Hill. Survivors include two sons, Russell Lee Myers, Overland Park, and David Wells Myers, Moberly, Mo.; a sister, Bessie Foster, Jefferson City, Mo.; two brothers, John Zumwalt, Ashland, Mo., and Carl Zumwalt, Columbia, Mo.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola; burial will follow the services in the Paola Cemetery, Paola. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ocheltree Baptist Church.

Jack Watkins
Jack B. Watkins, 68, Spring Hill, died Saturday, Feb. 5, at Olathe Medical Center. He was born Feb. 15, 1931, in Kansas City, Kan. He was a lifelong resident of Kansas City and Johnson County, having moved to Spring Hill in 1977. He graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School. He married Loyce Holmes Watkins, then divorced. He later married Patsy Guitreau, divorcing in 1995. He was the owner/driver for Jack B. Watson Trucking Co., Kansas City. He worked there for over 50 years and had not yet retired from driving. He previously owned wrecking and excavation companies. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. in 1950. He was a longtime member of the masons. Preceding him in death were his parents, Jack Pete and Gladys Deeds Watkins. Survivors include two sons, Thomas D. Watkins, Paola, and Jack R. Watkins, Kansas City, Kan.; two daughters, Suzanne E. Overcash and Kimberly J. Jones, both of Parkville, Mo.; two stepsons, Timothy G. Fagan, Gresham, Ore., and Richard Guitreau, Prairieville, La.; three stepdaughters, Norma J. Moody, Locust Grove, Okla., Karen G. Reeves, Olathe, and Karla A. Burch, Prairieville, La.; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Albert Watterson Sr.
Albert Ray Watterson Sr., 71, of Olathe, died Friday, May 18, 2001, at the Olathe Medical Center. He was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Tulsa, Okla., and had lived in the Kansas City area for most of his life. He was a heavy equipment operator for 45 years for Local No. 101, working for Bowen Construction and retiring in 1990. He was a past governor for the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1999 and a member of the Merriam Eagles Lodge. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elmira Ellen Gulley Watterson; a son, Danny Watterson; a daughter, Omega Sue Reynolds, Ottawa; and a stepdaughter, Billie Jo Hensley. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Watterson, of the home; sons, Albert Ray WattersonJr., Frank Watterson and John Watterson, all of Olathe; Jesse Watterson, Galitan, Mo.; and Gary Watterson and Shannon Watterson, both of Kansas City, Kan.; stepson, Michael Hart, Overland Park; daughters, Kathy Wiser, Edwardsville, and Mary Watterson, Kansas City, Kan.; stepdaughters, Vicki Lyman, Toni Hosseinpour and Sandy Hart, all of Kansas City, Kan.; and sisters, Marie Boyer, Olathe; and Marion Brown, Nursery, Texas.
