Frank L. 'Grandpa' Goodale
He was born June 24, 1914, at Canton, S.D., the son of Grant and Erma Goodale. He was a retired farm employee and a longtime Plains resident. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He belonged to First Christian Church of Plains. On Jan. 3, 1952, he married Lois Andrew at Ford. She died May 4, 1988. Survivors include: a son, Charles Pierson, Grand Junction, Colo.; five daughters, Evelyn Harris, Liberal, Beverly Barber, Fowler, Nancy Davis, Plains, Virginia Stohler, Columbia, Mo., and Lola Roberts, Meade; 17 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Schield; three brothers, Ray, Ned, and Harry; and a sister. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fidler-Orme Mortuary Chapel, Meade. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to service time Monday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Plains Cemetery. Fidler-Orme Mortuary, Meade., is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Nov. 24, 1924, at St. John, the daughter of Pedro and Angela Gonzales Juarez. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she had worked as a nurse's aide and in the culinary department of Alaska Pipeline. She belonged to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson. On July 2, 1941, she married Andrew C. Mendoza at Kinsley. He died Jan. 28, 1998. Survivors include: a son, Nicholas, Oklahoma City; two daughters, Mary Jones, Larned, and Felicitas Espinoza, Hutchinson; a sister, Isabel Schreiber, Hutchinson; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Juarez; and a sister Delfina Juarez. Rosary will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. at the church, with Father Richard Stuchlik presiding. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, all at Johnson & Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson. Memorials may be sent to Disabled American Veterans, in care of the
funeral home.
