Irene Leona Leach
SCOTT CITY - Irene Leona Leach, 84, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Scott County Hospital, Scott City.
She was born Jan. 31, 1916, at Beeler, the daughter of Earl A. Phoeb Stewart Lomax. She was a lifetime resident of Scott City.
She belonged to First Christian Church, the Farm Bureau and the Senior Citizens VIP Center, all at Scott City.
On Nov. 15, 1936, she married Ephrain Densmore "Denny" Leach, at Scott City. He died in 1970.
Survivors include: a son, Michael, Scott City; a daughter, Inez Driskell, Taunton, Mass.; and four brothers, Harvey, Fresno, Calif., Willard, Placerville, Calif., Clark, LaFayetta, Calif., and Henry Lomax, Brea, Calif.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Oliver and Leo; a sister, Anita Lomax; and a grandson.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to the Senior Citizens VIP Center, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, Scott City.

Elizabeth Fornell
PITTSBURG, - Elizabeth Fornell, 99, of Pittsburg, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Mount Carmel Medical Center, Pittsburg.
She was the mother of Marie Miller, Hutchinson.
Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pittsburg.
Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Pittsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Lucile 'Nana' Stevens Hartsfield
CLAREMORE, Okla. - Lucile "Nana" Stevens Hartsfield, 91, died Jan. 12, 2001, at Claremore Nursing Home, Claremore, Okla.
She was born Sept. 19, 1909, at Garden City, the daughter of A.C. and Florence Wheeler. A former resident of Hutchinson and Garden City, she was a secretary for Modern Woodsmen of America and a graduate of Hutchinson Junior College. She had been a resident of Anadarko, Okla., from 1963, until moving to Claremore Nursing Home.
She married Frank Stevens. He preceded her in death. In 1985, she married W.G. Hartsfield. He preceded her in death.
She was the mother of Jean Stange, Hutchinson.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. Jan. 16, at First United Methodist Church, Claremore, Okla.
Claremore Funeral Home, Claremore, Okla., was in charge of arrangements.

Ruby I. Garmon
HUGOTON - Ruby I. Garmon, 84, died Jan. 15, 2001, at Stevens County Hospital, Hugoton.
She was born Jan. 27, 1916, at Liberal, the daughter of Royal H. and Beulah Idhe. She was a lifetime area resident. She worked in the courthouse and city offices at Hugoton.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Hugoton.
On May 8, 1948, she married Ben V. Garmon at Liberal. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: a stepson, Frank Garmon, Washington; and four step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at Paul's Funeral Home, Hugoton, with the Rev. Robert Bailey presiding. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hugoton Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Pioneer Manor, in care of the funeral home.

Sam Wise
SATANTA - Sam Wise, 21, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Manhattan.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Haskell County Funeral Home, Sublette.

C. Duain Crain
C. Duain Crain, 89, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Elliott Mortuary, Hutch-inson.

Robert Paul Holdren
SYRACUSE - Because of inclement weather, the service time for the funeral of Robert Paul Holdren has been changed to 10 a.m. MST Thursday. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Greene-Fellers Funeral Home, and until service time Thursday at the Coolidge High School Gym.

Alberta Lucille Yagel
We will celebrate the life of Alberta Lucille Yagel, who went to be with our Lord Monday, January 15, 2001, at the age of 81.
She was born in Dade Co-unty, Mis-souri, on June 14, 1919, to Albert and Grace Lee Bowles Goltra.
She married Arthur Yagel on March 29, 1937, at Chanute. They were married for 53 years. He passed away Oct. 2, 1990.
She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. Her greatest concern in life was not for herself, but for her four children, who were her greatest joy.
She belonged to the Sherman Baptist Church in Sherman, Kansas where she was a Sunday school teacher and also a soloist. She had a very pretty voice and loved to sing. She was a very talented musician, and could play the violin, french horn, guitar, piano and organ. She also sang in other churches in the area.
She is survived by two sons, Michael, Raymond, and Timothy, Nickerson; two daughters, Nancy Sue Yagel and Carol Helf, both of Hutchinson; a brother Bernard Leon Goltra, Sommers Point, N.J.; two grandchildren, Terri Langley and Nicholas Yagel; and a great-grandchild, Daylon Langley.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, JoAnn Partington and Betty Lee Binger.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sterling Com-munity Cemetery Chapel. There will be a register book to sign at Elliott Mortuary.

C. Duain Crain
C. Duain Crain, 89, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born April 10, 1911, at Chapman, the son of Frank and Ida J. Manz Crain. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, he was a retired recei-ving and shipping clerk with Dillons.
He belonged to Tenth Avenue Evangelical United Methodist Church. He was a past director of Sweet Adelines, Barber Shop Chorus and St. Teresa Follies. He was a member of the former Elks Lodge No. 453, Hutch-Reno Masonic Lodge No. 124 AF&AM, Midian Shrine, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68, and VFW Bob Campbell Post No. 1361. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and Korea.
On Oct. 28, 1934, he married Roberta Wilma Randolph at Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sharon Schrag, Moundridge; a sister, Coradell Alexander, Noel, Mo.; two grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Crain.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Alan D. Stambaugh presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the mortuary, with the family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson, with military graveside honors conducted by a Fort Riley honor guard.
Memorials may be sent to Tenth Avenue Evangelical United Methodist Church Van Fund, in care of the mortuary.
Frank L. Williams
LYONS - Frank L. Williams, 54, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born April 8, 1946, at Lyons, the son of Chestley and Virginia F. DeWees Williams. A 1964 graduate of Lyons High School, and a lifetime resident of Lyons, he was a retired auto mechanic.
He belonged to the United Methodist Church at Lyons.
Survivors include: a brother, Robert, Shorewood, Ill.; two sisters, V. Joetta Daughton, Liverpool, N.Y., and Ellen A. Carbee, Bellingham, Wash.; numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sillin Funeral Home, Lyons, with the Rev. Cindy Watson presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lyons Municipal Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Bell and Star Fund or the United Methodist Women's Group, both in care of the funeral home.

Larry Lee Turner
GARDEN CITY - Larry Lee Turner, 39, died Jan. 16, 2001, at his home in Garden City.
He was born June 1, 1961, at Quinter, the son of Wesley James and Hannah Esther Mai Turner. A Garden City resident since 1979, moving from Grinnell, he was a truck driver.
He belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 3124, Garden City, and Sons of the American Legion.
Survivors include: two brothers, Henry A. and Harry A., both of Garden City.
Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Garden City, with Leland Jackson presiding, and at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Oakley, with Pastor Theodore Cook presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to service time Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gove Cemetery, Gove.
Memorials may be sent to the Larry Turner Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
Because of a typist's error, one of the memorials in the Merlin Gagelman obituary in Tuesday's editions of the News was in error. Memorials should be sent to the American Cancer Society or to Peace Lutheran Church, both in care of Bryant-Christians Funeral Home, Great Bend.

Lucius M. 'Mike' Hurley
NEWTON - Lucius M. "Mike" Hurley, 76, died Jan. 17, 2001, at Friendly Acres Retirement Community, Newton.
He was born Sept. 4, 1924, at Newton, the son of Tom and Helen Balch Hurley. He graduated from Newton High School in 1943. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad between Dodge City and Newton for 39 years, retiring in 1986.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Newton, and to a number of Masonic orders in Newton and Wichita, including the Midian Shrine and Midian Shrine Pipes and Drums. He also belonged to many museums, genealogy groups and historical societies in Kansas, and sang with the Pride of Prairie Barbershop Chorus. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
On March 23, 1947, he married Shirley Calder. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Tom, Westminster, Colo., and Bob, Wichita; two daughters, Cheryl Hurley, Wichita, and Kim Benson, Newton; a brother, Lomaya, Albuquerque, N.M.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Newton, with the Revs. Mike Keating and Jay Anderson presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Harvey County Historical Society, in care of the funeral home.

Beverly Ann Mease
PRATT - Beverly Ann Mease, 67, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Pratt Regional Medical Center.
She was born March 16, 1933, at Pratt, the daughter of Paul E. and Vera C. Pullman Gray. A resident of Pratt, she had lived in Barber County from 1954 to 1966. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Pratt.
On May 2, 1954, she married Earl Wayne Mease at Pratt. He survives.
Other survivors include: a brother, Paul E. Gray, Garden City; and two sisters, Madolane Whaley, Pratt, and Carolyn McDaniel, Holts Summit, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church, Pratt, with the Rev. Tom Walters presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Larrison Mortuary, Pratt. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
Memorials may be sent to the Arthritis Foundation, in care of the mortuary.

Robert Keith 'Bob' Klitzke
NESS CITY - Robert Keith "Bob" Klitzke, 76, died Jan. 16, 2001, at Grissell Memorial Long Term Care Center, Ransom.
He was born May 6, 1924, near Ness City, the son of Charles A. and Elizabeth Jaehde Klitzke. He was a farmhand and did general work for Streckner John Deere, Siebert Sand Company and Schwartzkopf Sales and Walker Implement.
He belonged to First Baptist Church, Ness City. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
On Nov. 14, 1971, he married Valdah M. Burditt, at Ness City. She survives.
Other survivors include: two sisters, Marjorie A. Davenport, Hutchinson, and Ruth I. Daniels, Scott City.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, Ness City, with the Rev. Russell King presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. Burial will be in Ness City Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, in care of funeral home.

Clarence R. Cleveland
LARNED - Clarence R. Cleveland, 75, died Jan. 17, 2001, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.
