Earl Joseph Gronniger, 71, of Wichita, father and father-in-law of Richard and Jennie Gronniger and grandfather of Rich, April and Brandy Gronniger, all of Valley Center, died Feb. 15, 2003. he was a City of Wichita maintenance supervisor and Gronniger’s Orchard owner. Service was Feb. 18 at St. Anthony Catholic cemetery, Garden Plain.

Elizabeth Douvielle

Elizabeth E. “Betty” Davis Douvielle, mother of Judy Lankford of Valley Center, died Feb. 13, 2003, in Halstead. She retired in 1980 after working in the nursing field. Service was Feb. 15 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, Valley Center, with Dr. J. Tal Tittsworth officiating. Burial will be held later during a private family service at Brooklawn Memorial Park cemetery, Portland, Maine.

Florence Schaar

Florence M. Schaar, 90, of Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Merle and Mary J. Schaar and grandmother of Shelly and Jeff Norris, all of Valley Center, died Feb. 12, 2003. She was retired from teaching for more than 30 years in U.S.D. 259. Service was Feb. 14 at Riverlawn Christian Church.

Henry D. Wheaton, 62, of Wichita, brother of Della Woodard of Valley Center, died Feb. 10, 2003. He was a truck driver. Service was Feb. 15 at Jackson Mortuary.

Sarah Lou Morrow Wilkinson, 99, of Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Henry H. “Barney” and Elaine Taylor and grandmother of John M. Taylor, all of Valley Center, died Feb. 14, 2003. She was a homemaker. Graveside service was Feb. 17 at Lakeview cemetery, Wichita.

Eston Randall Ash, 76, of Valley Center, Southwestern Bell Telephone construction manager, died Nov. 10, 2003. Visitation is from 5 to 7 tonight (Thursday) at Baker Funeral Home. Service is at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Valley Center.

Samuel David Landis, 79, of Wichita, step-father and step-father-in-law of Bill and Marykay Brown of Valley Center, died Nov. 9, 2003. He was a retired Honeywell aircraft instrument technician. Service is at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at Broadway Mortuary.

Audrey Arlene Joseph Somers, 81, of Wichita, retired clerk/typist for the City of Wichita and Sedgwick County, died Feb. 9, 2003. Service was Feb. 12 at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center.

Earl Spangler

Earl G. Spangler, 84, of Wichita, father of Bill Spangler of Valley Center, died Feb. 7, 2003. Memorial service was Feb. 11 at Riverside Christian Church, Wichita.

Joseph Esgro

Joseph P. Esgro, 47, of Harveyville, father and father-in-law of Stefanie Esgro and Gorden Crippen of Valley Center and Derek and Carrie Esgro of Park City, and grandfather of Ashlynn Esgro of Park City, died Feb. 6, 2003. Service was Feb. 10 at Resthaven Chapel, Wichita. Burial was at Resthaven cemetery.

Lula Beatrice Moore, 76, of Wichita, mother of Cheryl Pyles of Bel Aire, died Feb. 6, 2003. She was a former Santa Clara (Calif.) University food service manager. Service was Feb. 12 at St. Mark Church of God in Christ.

Madge Colbert

Madge Lena Farmer Colbert, 87, of Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Gary and Charlotte Colbert of Valley Center, died Feb. 7, 2003. She was a homemaker, farmer, nurse’s aide and a sales clerk for Newman’s and K-mart. Service was Wednesday at Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City. Burial was in Parker cemetery.

Alice Fisher

Alice P. Fisher, 93, of Newton, grandmother of Deanna Miller of Valley Center and Stephen Fisher of Bel Aire, died Nov. 4, 2003. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton, with family present from 7 to 8. Service is at 10 a.m. Saturday at Meridian Baptist Church, Newton, with Revs. Jerroll Martens and Scott Kliewer officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery, Newton.

Ervin Ferber

Ervin E. Ferber, 90, of Wichita, grandfather of Kendall and Paula Knapp of Valley Center, died Oct. 31, 2003. He retired in 1975 as a Beechcraft assembler.

Gertia McCraw

Gertia Mae Perry McCraw, 64, of Wichita, mother of Angela LaDora Moore of Valley Center, died Nov. 2, 2003. She was a sixth-grade teacher at Truesdell Middle School. Rosary is at 7 p.m. Friday, and service is at 11 a.m. Saturday, both at Holy Savior Catholic Church.

Laura Eileen Rotramel, 40, of Spokane, Wash., formerly of Valley Center, died Oct. 18, 2003. Graveside service was Oct. 30 at Resthaven in Wichita.
