Bertie Lois Ehmke, 84, of Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Forrest and Cathy Ehmke of Kechi, died July 13, 2003. Service was July 17 at Hillside Funeral Home East Chapel, Wichita, with Rev. Luke Russert presiding. Burial was at Ft. Scott National cemetery, Ft. Scott.

Clark Smith Sr.

Clark D. Smith Sr., 70, of Wichita, father of Clarence Clark of Valley Center, died July 23, 2003. He was a furniture refinisher. Services were July 22 at All Faiths Funeral Services.

Virda Mathias

Virda A. Mathias, 71, of Wichita, mother of Kevin L. Mathias of Park City, died July 19, 2003. She was a retired vice president of Financial Guardian/Jardine Insurance Co. Service was July 23 at Dawson United Methodist Church.

Virginia Mae Garoutte, 81, of Wichita, mother of Kenneth Garoutte and Calvin Garoutte, both of Valley Center, died July 16, 2003. She was a homemaker and caregiver. Service was July 21 at Old Mission Mortuary.

Charley Hockersmith, 87, of Gove, father of Mary Ann Berry of Valley Center, died July 11, 2003. He was a farmer. Service was July 14 at United Methodist Church of Quinter with Rev. Elin Colglazier officiating. Burial was at Gove cemetery, Gove.

Elmer Unruh, 73, of Galva, brother of Jay Unruh of Valley Center, died July 8, 2003. He was a retired oilfield operator. Service was July 11 at Lone Tree Church of God in Christ, Mennonite.

Raymond “Ciglo” Roy Dobnick III, 30, of Wichita, brother of Mary Carpenter of Valley Center, died July 11, 2003. Visitation is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday and service is at 10:30 a.m. Friday, both at Baker Funeral Home.

Thomas J. “Tom” Jacobs, 40, of Valley Center, heavy equipment operator for Paul’s Excavating, died July 12, 2003. Service was July 16 at St. Jude Catholic Church, Wichita.

Donald E. Hayes, 55, father and father-in-law of Tammy and Jeremy Ensey of Valley Center, died Jan. 20, 2004. He was president of U-Store Midstates Management Inc. Service was Jan. 23 at Grace Community Assembly of God, Flower Mound, Texas. Burial was at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.

Dorothy A. Tanberg, 97, of Wichita, great-aunt of Polly Basore of Bel Aire, died Jan. 19, 2004. She was an investor and volunteer for Wesley Medical Center and the American Red Cross. Memorial service was Jan. 22 at Sedgwick Plaza, Wichita.

Eldo Stucky, 94, of Newton, father of Eugene Stucky of Valley Center, died Jan. 23, 2004. He owned and operated Stucky Feeders Supply in Wichita. Service was at First Mennonite Church, and committal service was at First Mennonite of Christian Church cemetery in rural Moundridge, both on Jan. 27.

John T. Arnold, 77, of Wichita, stepfather of Steve Porter of Valley Center, died Jan. 25, 2004. He was chairman of the board and CEO of John T. Arnold Associates Inc., Commercial Real Estate. Service is at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at Messiah Baptist Church, Wichita.

Karen Osborn

Karen Lynn Osborn, 60, of Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Steven and Karen Osborn of Valley Center, died Jan. 23, 2004. She was office manager at Microfilm Services and worked part-time in customer service at Dillards Towne West. Service was Jan. 27 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial was at Lakeview memorial Gardens.

Loren D. Price, 67, father of Steven Price and Susan Killinger, both of Valley Center, and brother of Wyman Price of Park City, died Jan. 21, 2004. He owned Price Printing. Service was Jan. 24 at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary, Wichita.

Martha E. Croft, 82, of El Dorado, mother of Carolyn Croft of Bel Aire, died Jan. 25, 2004. She was a homemaker and former teacher. Service was Jan. 27 at Carlson Funeral Home. Graveside service was Jan. 28 at Wichita Park cemetery.

Pauline Schnoor

Pauline Hurn Schnoor, 80, of Wichita, sister of Thelma Eilert of Furley, died Jan. 26, 204. She was a homemaker. Service is at 1 p.m. today (Thursday) at Cheney United Methodist Church.

Roland Whitted

Roland R. Whitted, 74, of Wichita, brother of Marvin Whitted and Curtis Whitted, both of Valley Center, died Jan. 26, 2004. Service was Jan. 28 at Resthaven Mortuary.

Irene Wells

Irene Wells, 89, of Fowler, mother of William R. Wells of Valley Center, died Feb. 29, 2004. Memorial service is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fowler Grade School auditorium, Fowler, with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. She donated her body to medical science, and there will be a private committal service at a later date.
