Thelma Erwin Davis

Thelma R. Burden Erwin Davis, 83, of Newton, mother of Kenneth L. Erwin and Russell D. Erwin of Valley Center, died Jan. 16, 2002. She was a homemaker. Service was Jan. 19 at Sunnydale Park cemetery with Chaplain Christina Edwards officiating.

Arlene Wagner

Arlene Ann Wagner, 59, of Valley Center, died Jan. 13, 2002. Service is at 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday) at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, Kan.

Calvin Bahr

Calvin H. Bahr, 73, of Valley Center, died Jan. 10, 2002, of injuries sustained in a car crash on I-135. He was a security guard for The Hayes Company. Service was Jan. 14 at Zion Lutheran Church, Newton, with Rev. Ronald Glow officiating. Burial was in Sunnydale-Park cemetery.

Douglas Jones

Douglas A. Jones, 50, of Valley Center, died Jan. 8, 2002. He was a truck driver for Robert Cooper Trucking, Hutchinson. Service was Jan. 12 at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, with Rev. Dallas Curts officiating. Cremation followed the service.

Ethel E. Smith, 90, of Hutchinson, mother of Gary Smith of Valley Center, died Jan. 14, 2002. She was a homemaker and seamstress. Funeral mass is at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Frances Beitler

Frances Ann Beitler, 82, of St. John, mother of Laurel Keeley of Valley Center, died Jan. 7, 2002. She was a homemaker. Service was Jan. 12 at Minnis Chapel.

Frank Rowley Sr.

Frank Ferry Rowley Sr., 92, of Valley Center, farmer and retired Wichita Fire Department employee, died Jan. 12, 2002. Service was Jan. 16 at First United Methodist Church. Burial was in Sunnydale Park cemetery.

Pauline McKibban-Woelk

Pauline McKibban-Woelk, 84, sister of Betty Whittington and Louise Slenker of Valley Center, died Jan. 13, 2002. Visitation was at Shepard Funeral Chapel in St. Louis, Mo. Visitation with family is from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today (Thursday), and service is at 1 p.m., both at Baker Funeral Home Chapel, Valley Center. Burial will be in Sunnydale Park cemetery.

Verle Noble “Slim” Patchett, 52, of Valley Center, Drywall Systems Inc. manager, died Jan. 11, 2002. Service was Jan. 15 at Family Worship Center, Wichita, with Pastor Boone Baker officiating. Burial was at Hillside cemetery, Sedgwick.

Antonio L. “Tony” Rivera, 71, of Newton, father of Joe Rivera of Valley Center, died Oct. 8, 2002. He was a retirement community maintenance man. Service is at 10 a.m. Friday at Newton Christian Church.

Billy F. “Bill” Sloniker, 59, of Independence, father of Tina Renee Robbins of Kechi, died Oct. 7, 2002. He was a retired Stoutco Inc. supervisor. Service is at 2 p.m. Friday at Webb & Rodrick Funeral Home, Independence.

Calvin Harned

Calvin A. Harned, 79, of Goddard, father and father-in-law of Randy and Ida Harned of Kechi, died Oct. 2, 2002. He was a Beechcraft employee for 18 years and retired in 1988 from Globe Engineering Co. as welding supervisor. Service was Oct. 5 at Resthaven Mortuary.

Eleanor Wilcoxson

Eleanor Ruth Wilcoxson, 88, of Wichita, mother and mother-in-law of Judy and Clem Rasmussen of Valley Center, died Oct. 5, 2002. She was a retired elementary school substitute teacher. Service was Oct. 8 at Grace Presbyterian Church. Burial was at Old Mission cemetery.

John McKown

John L. “Jack” McKown, 77, of Wichita, father and father-in-law of Jonnell and Jim Eichkorn of Bel Aire, died Sept. 30, 2002. He was an Eastridge Cleaners route driver and retired Woolco regional manager. Service was Oct. 4 at Resthaven Mortuary, Wichita.

Leslie Kohl

Leslie Wright Kohl, 83, of Wichita, died Oct. 4, 2002, of complications from Parkinson’s Disease. He was a lifelong sheep and wheat farmer in Maize. Graveside service was Wednesday at Park cemetery, Maize. Memorial service was at Maize United Methodist Church.

Marcia Caroline Gier Kelley, 51, of Valley Center, office manager for Common Sense Chiropractic, died Oct. 5, 2002. Memorial service is at 1 p.m. Monday at Baker Funeral Home. Private family burial at Sylvan Grove.
