Jennifer Renee Timmons

Jennifer Renee Timmons, 23, of Wichita, daughter of Glen and Shelby Timmons of Valley Center, died June 6, 2005. Service is at 3 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Mortuary.

Other survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, April Lynn and Joshua T. Logan of Wichita; grandmother, Crystal Anne Timmons of Florence, S.C.; and nieces, Olivia Mae and Natalie Anne Logan.

A memorial has been established with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

John N. Beckstrom

John N. Beckstrom, 85, of Wichita, died June 1, 2005. He had been retired for 25 years from Wichita Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. after 30 years of employment. Service was June 6 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.

He was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Lindsborg. He was a Navy veteran who served in World War II. He was a member of the Bestor G. Brown Masonic Lodge for 58 years, the Valley Center American Legion for 56 years, the Wichita American Eagles Lodge for 25 years and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for 54 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Nora Beckstrom, and his brother, Jim Beckstrom.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Wilma Beckstrom; sons and daughters-in-law, John O. “Rock” and Connie Beckstrom of Wichita, Carlton “Swede” and Karen Beckstrom of Shawnee; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society, 435 S. Broadway, S-100, Wichita 67202, and the Kansas Humane Society, 4218 Southeast Blvd., Wichita 67210.

Downing & Lahey Mortuary East had charge.

Kevin Lee Almond

Kevin Lee Almond, 44, of Newton, died June 3, 2005. He was a retired Newton Kansan production/distribution manager. Service was June 7 at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, Newton.

He was born June 28, 1960, in Wichita to Charles Frederick “Chuck” Almond and Betty Joleen Tilton. He married Susan Gayle Basore Boyer on June 25, 1983, at his parents’ home in Newton. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Other survivors include his daughter and fiance, Doni Boyer of Newton and Darrel Kealey of Wichita; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kimberly Boyer of Newton; mother and stepfather, Betty and Vernon Mustoe of Newton; sister and brother-in-law, Vicki and Mark Miller of Newton; and granddaughter, Mia of Newton.

A memorial has been established with Grace Baptist Church Missions Fund, 301 B Highway 81 South, Hesston 67062. Wichita Mortuary Service had charge.

Larry W. Barnhill

Larry W. Barnhill, 50, of Wichita, died June 1, 2005. He was a planning department group leader at Cessna Aircraft. Service was June 4 at Calvary Baptist Church, Valley Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Barnhill.

Survivors include his brother, Roger Barnhill, aunts, Jean Remington, Juanita Barnhill, Lucia Solomon, uncle, Ralph Solomon, all of Wichita; and many cousins.

Resthaven Mortuary had charge.

Thomas Lee Lankford

Thomas Lee Langford, 85, of Wichita, died June 3, 2005. He was employed by Eby and Dondlinger construction companies and Excel Meat Packing Co. Service was June 8 at St. Jude Catholic Church.

He graduated from Valley Center High School and Kansas State University School of Architecture. He was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army Air Corps and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Paul and Ocie Brewer Langford; sisters, Bessie Mae Moss and Dorothy Harper; and granddaughter, Summer.

Survivors include his wife, Eulalia of the home; children and spouses, Donald and Collette Langford and Thomas and Catherine Langford II, all of Wichita, Bernadette and Robert Onstott of Ann Arbor, Mich., Mary Langford of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., Edward and Michelle Langford of Littleton, Colo., Linda and Mark Bennett of Moundridge; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary had charge.

Thomas Quincy Utter

Thomas Quincy Utter, 45, of Wichita, brother and brother-in-law of Tony and Carolyn Utter of Bel Aire, died June 2, 2005. He was a maintenance employee at Tallgrass Country Club. Service was June 7 at Westlink Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Utter.

Other survivors include his father, Quincy Utter of Wichita; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Janis and Jeff Scott of Lenexa, Nancy and Phil Coker of Fort Meyers, Fla., Carol and Joel Troyer of Wichita and Susie and Brian Wolf of Overland Park.

Downing & Lahey Mortuary East had charge.

Leonard James Holt

Leonard James Holt, 69, of Sedgwick, father and father-in-law of Marilyn and Carl Konecny of Wichita, died July 2, 2005. He was a truck driver. Service was July 6 at Baker Funeral Home, Valley Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. Holt and Eva L. Simpkins.

Other survivors include his wife, Mary Lou; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Johnny Dater of Sedgwick, Sue and Frank Meacham of Newton, Rhonda and Shane Preble of Wichita; sisters, Mae Brown of Wichita, Pauline Tompkins of Amarillo, Texas; brother, Gordon Holt of Heavener, Okla.; grandchildren, Kristie and Brad Hill, John and Nikki Nold, Justin Nold, Keith Dater, Cori and Zach Land, Karsyn Konecny, Brian Konecny, Lisa Konecny, Lance Preble, Rachel Preble; four great-grandchildren plus two on the way, and nieces and nephews including Kathy Hirschler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita 67202, and Victory in the Valley, 917 N. Market, Wichita 67214.

Roy L. Sturdy

Roy L. Sturdy, 74, of Edmond, Okla., father and father-in-law of Ken and Dawn Sturdy and grandfather of Elizabeth and Randall Orr and Doug Sturdy, Ryan Sturdy and Calvin Sturdy, all of rural Valley Center, died July 1, 2005. Service was July 5 at Forest Hill Christian Church, Oklahoma City, Okla. Burial as at Gracelawn cemetery, Edmond.

He was born Aug. 3, 1930, the son of William Leslie and Ella Sturdy.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Joyce E. Sturdy; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Patti Sturdy; brothers and sister-in-law, Guy Sturdy of Pueblo, Colo., Maurice and Trudy Sturdy of Phoenix, Ariz., and grandchildren, Jennifer Sturdy, Lindsey Sturdy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established with Circuit Riders Ministry or Maverick Club, in care of the church, 2121 N. McArthur Blvd., Oklahoma City. Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond, had charge.

Scott Eugene Patrick

Scott Eugene Patrick, 30, of Topeka, grandson of Lola Vandergrift of Park City, died June 26, 2005. Service was July 1 at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home, El Dorado.

Other survivors include his mother, Vickie Bokey; brother, Joshua Patrick, sister, Kathy Patrick, both of El Dorado, and four nieces.

Wallace DuWayne “W.D.” Hinkle

Wallace DuWayne “W.D.” Hinkle, 78, of Valley Center, died July 5, 2005. He was the former principal of West Elementary and owner of Moore Flowers in Valley Center and Wichita. Service is at 10 a.m. Friday at Valley Center Assembly of God, and at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Lawn cemetery in Howard.

He was born March 27, 1927, in Howard, the son of Clifford Hinkle and Bertha Valeria Henderson. They preceded him in death. He graduated from Howard High School in 1945, and earned the distinction of becoming Howard’s first Eagle Scout. He was a graduate of the College of Emporia and earned master’s degrees at Montana State University, Missoula, Mont. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Naomi Harrod on Oct. 10, 1948. She survives of the home. He spent 38 years in public education, serving as a teacher in the Burlington, Grenola, Towanda and Circle districts. He was a principal in the Circle school district and served as West Elementary principal in Valley Center from 1975 to 1989. He and his wife owned Moore Flowers from 1980 until August 2004.

Other survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Lyman Covey of Valley Center, Kim and Paul Harrison of Wichita; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Amy Hinkle of Liberal; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Curtis Morgan of Howard; mother, Helen Hinkle of Howard; aunt, Hazel Moore of Howard, cousins, Carolyn Houser of California, Joyce and Al Ferkovich of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Eric and Kyle Harrison of Wichita, Karah and Kylie Covey of Valley Center, Holly and Cade Hinkle of Liberal.

A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association. Baker Funeral Home has charge.

Nellie Thompson

Nellie F. Thompson, 85, of Wichita, mother of Judith Agustin of Valley Center, died June 19, 2005. Service was June 22 at DeVorss Flanagan-Hunt Mortuary.

She was born March 13, 1929, in Dubois, Neb.

Other survivors include her husband, LeRoy of Wichita; sons, Frank Bryant of Olathe, Donald Bryant of Brookings, Ore.; sister, Mildred Ferguson of Grants Pass, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with Bethel Life Center, 3777 S. Meridian, Wichita 67217, and the American Heart Association, 2100 E. Douglas, Wichita 67214.

Doyle L. Dyer

Doyle L. Dyer, 62, of Goddard, father and father-in-law of Doug and Donna Dyer of Park City, died Sept. 3, 2005. He was a City of Goddard police chief and retired Wichita police detective. Service was Sept. 7 at Olivet Baptist church, Wichita.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Viola, and sisters, Geralda and Vina Faye.

Other survivors include his wife, Janet; son, David of Goddard; brother and sister-in-law, Verlen and Madeline Dyer of Calumet, Okla.; sister and brother-in-law, LaFern and Elbert Isley of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Christopher, Chelsea, Calen, Mickey, Matthew, Amber, Laynie, and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established with the City of Goddard Park Playground Fund, 118 N. Main, Box 667, Goddard 67052. Cochran Mortuary had charge.

Joan “Jo” Stuckey Hill

Joan “Jo” Stuckey Hill, 72, of Andover, mother and mother-in-law of Wesley and Janie Hill of Valley Center, died Sept. 1, 2005. She was a retired licensed practical nurse. Service was Sept. 5 at Andover Church of Christ, Andover.

She was born in Harrison, Ark., the daughter of John Crittendon Stuckey and Velma Gass. They preceded her in death. She graduated from Harrison High School and earned her LPN degree. She enjoyed quilting, hunting, fishing, spending time with family, and was an active member of her church.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; son and daughter-in-law, Duwayne and Barbara Hill of Leon; brother and sister-in-law, John Crittendon and Doris Stuckey of Green Forest, Ark.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ora Bee Morris of Paragould, Ark., Cathleen and Jack Flippo of Harrah, Okla., Freda and Billy Cole of Harrison, Ark., and grandchildren and their spouses, Marlene and Josh Patry of Dwight, Leah and Rob Moore of Wichita, Jeff Hill, Braxton Hill of Leon.

Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, and Andover Church of Christ, 816 N. Andover Road, Andover 67002. Baker Funeral Home had charge.

Len Wilbur Felix

Len Wilbur Felix, 83, of Wichita, father of Tracy of Kechi, died Aug. 31, 2005. He was a retired Harbison Construction carpenter. Graveside service was Sept. 3 at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Wichita.

He was a Navy veteran and won the Purple Heart during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannee; sisters, Arlie, Ruby, Claudine and Mildred, and brothers, Ross, Melvin, Marvin and DeWayne.

Other survivors include his sons, David of Everett, Wash., Kelly, Tod, both of Wichita; daughter, Stacy of Wichita; brother, Merlin of Altus, Okla.; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been established with the American Heart Association and the American Lung Association. Resthaven Mortuary had charge.
